I started playing poker online in like 2012ish, played a variety of different games to a variety of different meh results. I stopped playing in 2015 (I think) as I got really bored of playing. I preferred **** posting in BQ which is where some may know me from.
I recently qualified to be a Maths teacher and I am in the process of looking for jobs after a nice few months rest. I've been really lazy so I'm going to start pulling my thumb out. The aim is to get a job starting in January and until then play lots of poker.
Obviously the more important thing is to get a job.
Obviously playing for the fun not for money. Life roll is good and life expenses are minimal.
The plan is to play lots of zoom starting at the very bottom, I'll move up if I think I'm winning, down if I think I'm losing.
Thanks, I'm sure I'll need it. Sleeping pattern is so messed up atm, it's getting better though, woke up at ~2am today. Had some breakfast put an hour session in. Aim is to get at least another 3 hours and to do some studying. Going to read through grinders manual and work on getting my basics back to being good, if they ever were.
Three tabling zoom seems to be a nice sweet spot for me, 4 I just turn into a button clicker and my note taking becomes awful. 2 and I start to get a little distracted. If and when I move up I'll probably try to work on keeping concentration for longer so I can play 2 and better until I get comfortable with the pool.

1 - OMG guys crushing the game, quit my job going pro. 25bb/100 should be easily sustainable
2 - ****, going on the most brutal downswing ever after I went pro, so sick
3 - Went busto, sickest variance ever experienced by anyone ever. Took out a loan to continue playing.
4 - I think my previous conservative estimate winrate of 25bb/100 was far too conservative, 35bb/100 more realistic. I mean I'm winning at more than that and look at that sick b/e stretch I dealt with.
Hero shows A A (One Pair, Aces)
(Pre 81%, Flop 9%, Turn 5%) CO shows K K (Three of a Kind, Kings)
(Pre 19%, Flop 91%, Turn 95%) CO wins 93.5 BB
Rake paid 3.5 BB
Actual graph so far (I'll probably only post this after I've put in reasonable volume going forward)

Please tell me that was a dig at the infamous 'Tasssty /Strawberr Milk/ other countless accounts he has' Dude is playing 5Nlz of late as I've seen him about..
I definitely suck at poker, sizing on the flop raise and turn bet I'm to unsure. Clicking buttons basically. That won't work for long. This is why you just click max when it's even semi-reasonable.
@MMSS...I'd apologise for the one shot thread drift, bu you won't mind, I know it
Tbf the **** I've posted in his thread whilst wasted, losing graph is always a fun bit of bait. Sadly I can't figure out how to get any more precise graphs on PT4 than by day otherwise I could post some fun ones.
Can't seem to wake up later than 2am, very annoying. I think the issue is I wake up hungry and eat, will try delaying eating till a more normal breakfast time and then eat at more normal times.
Results from yesterday
Not very happy with the volume, ~4 hours but I could have easily got another hour or two in. Too much time doing stupid **** like watching chess.
Plan for today is to try and go back to sleep for a bit, have a look at some jobs and maybe get an hour or two worth of poker in. Playing pool for a few hours in the afternoon and will likely be tired when I get home. Try to force myself to stay up till later but likely won't play any poker.
This hand I'd actually like thoughts on, turn bet a little bit too big? I think the rest of the hand is reasonably standard or is the flop raise too thin/small?

Hahahaha the banter is real.
Seriously though, good luck with the zoom challenge. I started off playing 2nl zoom on Stars and I think that it was the best decision I made in regards to growing as a poker player. You improve so much faster than playing slow live games, and it costs you very little when you make mistakes. It also plays somewhat similar to LLSNL, so the skillset is very applicable elsewhere.
The AA on K74 hand: I like to bet larger on later streets and smaller on earlier streets, rather than the opposite. So I'd go something like 35% pot on the flop, 70% pot on the turn and 90% pot on the river, instead of 65-60-55. You can also raise slightly bigger when isolating limpers, such as 4.5x to 5x. Bad luck on the cooler though.
The JJ on 654 hand: definitely 3betting this to 10bbs pre. Just losing so much value by flatting. Flop raise is interesting. It's definitely not a standard play, but I can see some merit to it.
The 88 on K85 hand: interesting x/jam. I actually like it. Alternatively, you could x/r to something like 3x instead. Either option is good.
The QQ on AQT hand: I probably lean towards jamming river myself, but I don't hate the river x/c either. Well played.
The chances of me ever sitting in a casino for long periods of time are approximately 0. My hourly would have to be in the ballpark of £60/hour which just isn't remotely viable. I could tutor for £30, I (potentially) earn decent money from teaching and it's about a million times more enjoyable.
Betting small in weak games because good players do that in their games is such a big leak. It literally is as simple as bet big and thin with your "value" hands.
The AA hand I should probably just bet bigger on every street and it's hardly a cooler I'd love villains to play KK so badly against me every time they had it.
3betting JJ vs reasonable UTG opening ranges is meh, people fold too much and only continue with stuff that JJ does meh against bar some weaker PP. I'd rather be more polarised 3betting this spot but in reality I'm going to just be really value heavy. Bar the rake being paid due to going post flop everything else works in my favour, IP, blinds never 3bet, good postflop skill edge against the pool etc.
x/shove 88 on K85 is only really good as an exploitative measure vs the pool, doing this against better players is likely a pretty big leak. In reality it's going to not be all that optimal even vs this pool I'd have thought we are so strong and are hardly struggling to get the money in the middle.
Applied for one of the jobs I was looking at yesterday, deadline was today at like 11am. Website seems to have changed from saying deadline is 20th 11am to open until a suitable candidate is found. Which I just really don't understand considering I fit the specification unless they don't want an NQT for some reason. Hopefully I get a phone call or something over the next day or so if not I'll have to mess about asking what was wrong with my application.
Not really played much poker either, not been feeling myself the past couple of days. Here's hoping I wake up ok tomorrow and it isn't the start of something worse. Regardless I should put in a couple of hours absolute minimum.
Graph - shows how meaningless a ~20k sample is for determining things like win rate.

They got back to me the next day, had a tour of the school, taught a couple of lessons, had an interview and got offered the job. Starting January so that's one part of my life sorted I suppose.
Haven't played much poker. I was away last weekend visiting a friend and then this week I've been busy with the school stuff and was really ill earlier in the week which sucks. That's what travelling on packed trains will do to you!
Hit 20k hands of 2nlz, win rate needs improving clearly. I'm running a bit meh but lots of leaks too.
Tiny 5nlz sample from today.
The plan for December, as my last "free" month before I start my job is to work on my game as much as possible. If anyone can recommend any resources that would be great.

I saw they had a deal for buy one month get the next free and £20 to watch all of carroters vids is probably a bargain so I signed up for that. If anyone can suggest other good coaches or series that'd be great.
It's nice to be back in the green, I'd like to have at least 10BI won before moving up to the next steak just so I have a nice big confident winning sample. More for my own sake knowing I'm winning, far from optimal in terms of a BRM strat.
I need to look at this spot in a bit more detail I think. I don't really see why my flop bet needs to be anywhere near as big as I made it. River at the time I just felt like I don't fold anwhere near enough to make a bluff +EV but i'm never winning at showdown here and villain probably has a lot more stuff to fold than I thought and is basically never turning missed draws into a bluff.
MP shows 9 9 (Full House, Kings full of Nines)
(Pre 82%, Flop 17%, Turn 9%) Hero mucks 8 8 (Full House, Kings full of Eights)
(Pre 18%, Flop 83%, Turn 91%) MP wins 82 BB
Rake paid 3 BB
My sleeping pattern has gone wrong again, going to try and sleep for a couple of hours then force myself to get up so I can get to sleep tonight. May pop to the pub to play a bit of pool if I do get up and need something to keep me busy.
