PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
At the suggestion of the mighty Havenator (in whose honour this thread will secretly be known henceforward as the Havenating thread), we're going to try a thread for general chat and quick questions.
Same rules apply in here as the rest of the forum, although as a low content/chat thread, in general it may be modded a little more loosely. Since this is new to this forum, we may modify our approach over time once we see how it works.
Ima sticky this for now; not sure if that's going to be the thread's permanent status or not.

Recommendations for a Newb? WRT SNGs
Hey All,
I am pretty new to this sub-forum and I was wondering if some of the regs and mods would care to make any recommendations as to which threads are worth a read. I am an online micro-low SNG player and am looking for more from that game type to follow.
I already have subbed to Gramps and Aaron Barone and the experience I have had thus far has been pretty awesome. If there are any other gems out there for STT grinders I would love to hear about any.
Thanks in advance!

Deffinitely check out jdawg's threads, pure gold. Unfortunately, I think he is on hiatus at the moment. I hope he returns when he is ready.

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
Bump.
After doing some lurking I thought I would post what I found to be my favorites and the recommendations mentioned by various OPs.
I haven't got to Jdawg's yet with it being locked, but it is in my subscription box.
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/poker-goals-challenges/jdawg91-2014-3mil-vpp-grind-expense-report-1393013/
sippin_criss has a great one from 2013. A lot of strife and heartache with the ultimate poker goal reached. Plenty of useful golf chat if interested as well.
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/poker-goals-challenges/i-wont-million-vpps-sippin_criss-hyper-sne-chase-1285600/
He also has one for 2014 I have yet to get through, but I expect more of the same gold.
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/poker-goals-challenges/sippin_criss-2014-6m-hyper-sne-pga-tour-canada-chase-1395242/
Gramps with his sexy graphs, massive volume and awesome gifs. I think it has been my top thread thus far.
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/poker-goals-challenges/withered-old-sttf-grinder-wonts-2-million-vpps-2013-w-decent-pre-rb-profit-1287519/
Ruse has one for 2014. Haven't got in it yet, but he get shout outs from all the threads I have read so far.
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/poker-goals-challenges/rusemandingo-2014-sne-h-f-freerolls-expense-ledger-thread-1405974/
acbarone has likely the most marketable PC&G + blog combination out of the small sample size I have seen here so far.
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/poker-goals-challenges/sne-2014-trading-low-stakes-mo-steaks-1400143/
http://www.aaronbarone.com/
And I guess I have what the community would call the best for last here, with over 2K posts. I haven't started it, but I imagine I'll wade my way through it for the golden nuggets you find in all the aforementioned threads. It actually took me a while to track it down because no one mentions him by his 2p2 handle.
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/poker-goals-challenges/grinding-snex2-2013-a-1168199/
I can't believe it took me so long to find my way into PG&C. All these threads are full of useful knowledge, wonderful insight and are entertaining reads. But most of all, you get a glimpse into what it might be to live the life of an online poker grinder. Every bit of motivation helps and I am for sure hooked now.
Thanks to all the posters!

Thanks? I don't know what qualifies as marketable, but I'll take it!

I guess you could replace marketable with professional. Something that you should feel proud of when unfolding your poker resume.

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
My only gripe about the PG&C section is that there aren't enough SNG-related threads for me to troll/follow and a bunch of guys who do make threads let them die a slow death.

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
You guys should split this up to fit the different games.
You should also have a thread specifically for people who've achieved their challenges

Absolutely this. It is almost impossible to find good logs to follow when they are all in the same section.

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
Adding sub-forums for cash/MTT/live would be cool but tbh think itd make navigation a bit more clunky.

Wasn't sure where to post this so sorry if it's in the wrong area. Could I get a mod to update my pg&c thread title?

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
there are a ton of people violating the sticky about self-promotion and promoting a specific coach. im talking about the crap-ton of 'BPC' program people who list it in their title and multiple times in their op's. they all appear to use a posting template as well for their op. these are not interesting to read at all and just clutter the forum and take away from the truly interesting unique challenges. please force these guys into their own seperate subforum or lock their threads. charge them or something i dont know.

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
Whats a good way to define daily/weekly goals for playing cash poker? For instance if I want to define a goal of playing more chess, I would say "play 1 rapid and 3 blitz games every day". Which is a lot more inspiring than "play x hours". For SNGs I guess you could say "play x SNGs", but even that starts sliding a bit towards what I'm trying to avoid, which is checking my HEM every 10 minutes to see if I hit x number of hands, a stop-win/loss or hours played.
I was thinking of using some event, like getting dealt pocket aces, or either aces or kings, but even though you could control the average amount of hands you'd play the possibly huge variation would be a problem.

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
maglame I don't quite get what you're asking. what makes 'play 4 games of chess' different from saying 'play 1000 hands of poker' to you? not disagreeing just need to see from your perspective so we can help u.

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
There is a 2+2 wide beginner/new player game of Werewolf being held in the POG sub forum. Very fun forum based strategy/deception game that is not time consuming and can be played at your own pace.
Check out the signup thread for rules/instructions and to signup if interested.

Can't seem to find this anywhere on the forums, though I'm probably just being dumb, but what do the different coloured envelope icons mean next to the threads? Why are some red, some yellow and some blue?

What are the currently active rags to riches threads that people are liking atm? Ones where there has actually been significant success?

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
I've read the rules sticky, but it's still not clear to me if a PG&C thread starter has as much freedom of banning posters 'on a whim' from the thread as in H&F
I mean writing in that thread that a specified member is no longer allowed to post there and then asking mods to delete all further posts of that member from that thread upon reports, without disciplinary actions, even if the member hasn't broken any of the 2+2 rules nor has even been immoral.
I'm yet thinking about starting a new PG&C, but if I do, I'd love to maintain a nontrivial subculture there, TBD, where some kinds of what others consider trolling would be encouraged but perhaps some kinds of what others consider normal posting wouldn't

Re: PG&C Low Content/Chat/Quick Questions Thread
Upon reflection, as for normal posts, I think it's easier for me to ask the readers to hide text related to certain topics into spoilers, giving trigger warnings, as normal readers would still like to read the triggering content. If someone fails to use a spoiler, I'll put them on the ignore list, as well as those who quote the ignored users.
