Sup everyone! I’m a 19 year old student living in Australia looking for something to do while finishing off their degree. Who knows? I might not end up using that piece of paper I get for finishing my degree, but the learning and experiences will still have been fun. Anyways video games and now poker having been a major part of my life. From a young age, I have always wanted to crush at everything I do, starting from sports, to video games and now poker.

I discovered poker at school after a bunch of my friends decided to run a tournament during lunch time. I became extremely intrigued by the game after a few hands and quickly looked online to find out more about poker. Before I turned 18, I stuck to playing on Zynga, always running out of chips. Then I moved to real-money games and immediately noticed how different both myself and everyone else played.

Long story short I ended up at pokerstrategy and twoplustwo and began browsing to learn strategy and ways to approach at this game. I’ve played quite a bit of poker now. Not as much as a lot of the other people out there, but enough to know that this will be a life long game for me, one in which I want a head start.

From learning tennis, rowing and swimming to playing the piano, I would never have been able to acquire a lot of my skills without a teacher or coach. It would take me much more time to figure out all those things that I learnt. So why would it be any different in poker? In fact, I tried to figure out a lot of stuff on my own in poker and still feel quite clueless. I’d still play poker if I wasn’t making money doing it but I want to be great at this game. Which brought me to BPC and is the reason why I have taken up the opportunity to join the 6-max SNG program.

Started playing the $1.50 6-max hypers after going through some of the initial material.

Bought Holdem Resources Calculator and starting to work on my push/fold game now. Looks like I've been nitty in a lot of spots.

Didn't play too a ton this week and probably won't get an insane amount of volume in with uni exams and all but handling the swings reasonably well. Working through the "Tilt free today" course right now and it's definitely helping with the mental game. So many coolers/setups/bad beats in the hypers that I feel like I'm getting used to it.

Had my first 1on1 with Bencb today where he identified my main leaks and gave me some homework. Also moved up to $3.50s where I have now played about 50 games. Definitely feel I can beat this level after a bit of leak fixing.

Headsup has been pretty swingy. Lots of spots where I grind people down to like 3BB and then they win two all-ins in a row, then come back and win. Studying push/fold spots at the moment. Just gotta play through the downswings so you can get to the upswings and constantly try to improve.

One more uni exam to go next week and then I'll be on holidays. Gonna get some work experience going but will still have plenty of time to grind.

Two pair --> Straight flush. Don't think I should ever be hero folding flop here as villains do this with all kinds of trash.

Running insanely bad atm I am very sure I have an edge in these games but variance is pretty insane. Just going to continue focusing on the process --> It's the only thing I can really do.

Update: Still playing the games and continuing to improve on/work on things. Coach says he's seen people way worse than me winning at these games and that a downswing at the start might actually be better than later as it will help me play solid in the long run when I move up. Just gotta keep going and deal with it.

And don't worry too much about results at the beginning.
1000 games does not tell if you are a winning player or not.
Guess you need roughly 10k games to know that.
And even more to have a real good idea about your ROI.

Still getting massacred by variance but that doesn't matter. It's all about improving my game at the moment.

Watched an interview with Mark Cuban that I got a lot out of that I feel I should share.

I feel this comment that he made to resonate really well with something I know but don't put enough into practice:
"If I'm not reading a couple of hours a day, there's some little kid out there trying to kick my ass."

Gotta keep putting in the hours and I'll get there eventually.

Haven't updated in a while. Participated in the pokerstars boycott i.e. played and finished witcher 3 on deathmarch. Back to grinding now

Start to run good/normal again
My thoughts so far on the CFP coaching: I would be focusing on a lot of the wrong stuff without it and also focused on just grinding rather than trying to constantly improve and work towards moving up. It has been super eye opening in terms of figuring out what decision making/thought processes should be used whilst playing the game.

Catching up with All-in EV today. Pretty insane run from some super soft games. Fish calling super wide vs reshoves and my hands holding up.

Back to where I started :P though I have definitely learnt a lot over this 2k sample. These games are definitely not for those with a weak stomach.

Awesome run today! Played super well and didn’t make many mistakes (Maybe shoved a little wide in some spots but nothing terribad). Pretty good being a massive chipleader at like every bubble *Pushes all-in*.

Moved up to $7s today and ran pretty well. When I asked Ben about moving up his only question was "Are you running better?". Just going to ride the heater and see where this goes.

Results for the month. Had my fair share of bad beats and suckouts but just playing well in those important bubble spots where I'm still seeing huge mistakes from other regs.

Swings are pretty insane. Running way below EV but there's no point for me to focus on things I can't control. Just trying to make the best plays that I can in each spot.

Update: Been working on my game a ton and coaching sessions with Ben are helping a ton.
Doing sweat sessions with the others in the group has helped with my confidence. Gotta keep grinding it out but also avoid auto-piloting. I've gotten down all the nash push/fold ranges now really well but I've started to realize that I shouldn't really be calling nash against most of the player pool at $7s.

Results wise I have just been running insanely below EV again. I'm a lot more used to the variance now and it doesn't effect my game much.
