Hey all!

I'm a lowstakes mtt reg and longtime lurker of this forum. I'm currently living in Spain and playing on the shared es-pt-fr player pool, although I have been working a job in real life, so I haven't put in the greatest volume this year. However, yesterday was my last day of work until after summer so that all changes! I will be looking to put in 1200mtts over the next 2 months, and I'm making this thread in the hopes of:

1. Providing me external motivation to study / grind.
2. Put myself out there in the poker world, and perhaps look to move to a poker house next year.
3. Make some friends who play poker! All the friends I have think I'm crazy

So, a little about me:

- I started playing regularly around 2013, and that lasted until early 2016. I was playing almost exclusively mtts on the global pool. Here's my graph from this time.

I stopped playing from 2016 until early this year, because I had some responsibilities (boooooo). However, again now I have none Since I moved to Spain I have been playing part time for the past 3 months to supplement my income, and enjoying it a lot. Here are my results so far, I'm also up 300eur on 888.es but I haven't opted in to SS as of yet:

So, my poker plans for this summer:

1. Play 500mtts / month (4 days a week)
2. Study once a week
3. Treat this like my job. That means making the time, sticking to my schedule and making a real effort to improve my game.

My current BR is 1500eur, so I will playing an AVBI of 5eur.

As for life goals, I'm currently making a real effort to be as social as possible. Luckily, living in Barcelona makes that real easy! I've gotten my Spanish to a point that I'm comfortable living here and I have made some wonderful friends. Meeting new people never hurts though so I will set a goal of going to meetups and other events at least once a week as well.

I plan on updating every monday, once a week.

Also, if anyone is on the es-pt-fr player pool and interested in discussing hands or studying through skype let me know!

Ty for reading and GL everyone!

Hey everyone!

Had an interesting week poker wise. Very happy with my volume (140mtts), won a few small tourneys for peanuts (200-300eurs) and had the following deep runs:

7th the Big 10 (2k up top)
12th the Hot 20 (2k up top)
10th Prog KO 5 (700 up top)

I had a great review session on Friday as well, downloaded ICMizer and went through my Big 10 run. Definitely found a few push/fold spots late that I feel I missed out on, especially with how quick the blinds jump late (I went from 25bb with 12 left to 10bb with 9 left with only losing a few tiny pots). Felt good though and It'll definitely help the next time I find myself deep in something.

Lifewise I'm really enjoying living in this city, yesterday I got a chance to explore a beach 40m from the city center with some friends which was lovely:

Lastly, I'm taking out a little money from my roll for both a live 1/3 bullet I fired to gauge how soft the games are here and some personal expenses as well.

So that leaves us with:

Weekly results:

Mtts played: 140
Profit: -100Eur
BR: 1000Eur
AvBI: 4Eur

GL all!

I don't know if you mentioned it but where did you move from?
Is it easy for US citizens to get a job and permanent residence? I am 100 percent bilingual.
Are the live games good?
What is the typical rent?
Is it easy for non resident to get banking?

I'm Australian. It's roughly the same process for me to get residency as it is for those from the US (unless you have Spanish or Latin american heritage, that's different). It's actually really difficult to get permanent residency, to do so you need to reside here legally for 3+ years and then fill in the paperwork. Problem is it's basically impossible to get a working visa (unless you have a highly skilled profession) so you would have to study something for 3 years and then apply after. Easiest way is with an EU passport.

Lives games are fantastic in my limited experience, people come from all over to lose money in the casino in summer

Rent in Spain is good, you can get a room for 150eur / month or a studio for 300 + utilities however in Barcelona/ Madrid it's horrible, basically triple that. Really nice places to live though

Finally yeah actually pretty much anyone can open a bank account if you know which banks to go to!

Hey everyone!

Had a reasonable week, basically finished 2nd-5th in everything small in sight for a small profit. Fridays review sesh has been put off until today, gonna have a look at a 5Eur Turbo PKO where I finished 5th for 110ish (with 700+ up top). Definitely feel like the majority don't really play these things correctly late game as they are sooooo top heavy. For example I got second in a small 5eur bounty yesterday for 75eur and 1st got 200

In other news I missed Sunday unfortunately because we went to San Fermin here in Spain, which was quite the experience:

Micromillions starts soon as well, looking forward to putting in some real volume, I don't think I've every played a "full" series before.

In other news I'm putting together resumes and looking for work on a cruise ship from September onwards, seems like something that could be cool! Anyone here done anything similar?

Weekly results:

Mtts played = 145
Results = +400Eur
Bankroll = 1500Eur
AVBI = 5Eur

GL all!

Good luck, I'll be following.

I'm a Brit living in France and I also play on es-pt-fr - How do you find the site? My experience is there are lots of fish but the traffic is still quite low and so the choice of tourneys and value are still quite low. I'm curious as to why you didn't move to a country where you could play on the .com ? - As for me, I've lived here for years, before France was ring-fenced so didn't really get a choice lol.

The Micro millions looks good. Lots of value. The Hercules event looks particularly good. ^^ I hope it's a success so that PS will invest more in growing the site. There are rumours that Italy will be joining the player pool but I'm not sure if their new government will veto it.

Good luck.

Thank you!

I think it's pretty soft, rakes a bit harsh though. Having said that 888.es and Party.fr/es are WAAAAY softer IMO, although obviously not as glamorous. What do you think of the recent player pool merge? I feel like tourney traffic is ok now! Could use a rep here somewhere to adapt the schedule though :P

As for why I moved here I both just love the lifestyle (I've stayed here before) and poker wasn't my main job! I came here to teach english, although it's summer now so there's much less work. Can't play online at all any more in Australia so I'll take what I can get

Yeah I'm excited about that event too! Best of luck! I suspect the opening event will overlay Yeah I've heard that they have the licence but it's held up in government, not sure how long it'd take but fingers crossed, can only be good for the game.

Best of luck to you too!

Just seen the Micromillions schedule I'll definitely be playing that. GL.

Yeah, traffic is much better since the merge. I'm still a bit disappointed with the choice of mtts though. Apart from Sundays, the guaranteed prizepools are quite low relative to the buy-in.

That's a good reason and makes sense. Barcelona is a cool city. I've been there several times. Do you ever play live at the casino?

Hey folks!

Just posting an update with the general gist being while I really enjoying playing mtts on the side (even 3/4 days a week) as extra income, playing them as a sole income was basically hell for me, it's really hard not to be results orientated when the results actually matter! I had a few weeks of just garbage run bad, nothing that I haven't been through before but it actually put me in a bad mood for the first time in my poker life. I got 3 outered for the universe to finish 10th in my last mtt for example and I was genuinely mad, and I realized pretty quickly that playing mtts with the concrete aim of paying the bills on a month to month basis is not for me.

If I was to do it again anytime soon, I'd probably try combining it with streaming, and make sure to have 6months or so living expenses saved up, completely seperate. Plus I reckon I'd need 500 avBIs to feel really secure in firing everything. Neither of these things are possible atm but a man can dream

Anyway, I'm gonna probably head back home in a little while and look into either starting a masters or joining the cruise ship life. I still enjoy the game and I'm excited to maybe transition to grinding some live 1/2 in my free time since the online options aren't the best On the plus side I've had a dope last month or so of actual holidays, I ****ing love this city. I'll really miss speaking Spanish, and I'm definitely looking for ways to move here permanently in the future.

Cheers for following and apologies for the possibly weakest ending to a PCG thread ever

peaceee
