Hellos Internets,
Played a few sessions so far in May but the results have not been stellar. I don't really have many hands to discuss since the few played involved losing flips and in general just taking the bummer side of variance.
I do have one hand to get everyone's thoughts on though, I think this was the right call but we'll see if others have different views.
Hand #1
$1/$2 NLHE game at the Shark Tank. Full table that was unusually good given the HPO event was going on over at Hollywood Columbus and seemed to snatch away most of the Tank regulars.
One particular character was the "Pizza Man" that took a $300 buyin up to around $2k and then gave it all back and then some. Sadly, no hands against this villain but the game was revolving around him.
So on to the hand...
PF - Two folds and UTG+2 (~$500) opens for $15, HJ (~$600) calls, CO (~$600) call, and I call on the BTN with Q
T
and around ~$600 in play. ($63)
With the deep stacks, and UTG+2 being a weaker player and having both absolute and relative position in the hand, I think flatting with QTs is fine. HJ seemed pretty snug and hadn't been involved much over the couple of hours at the table. CO was trickier and seemed competent.
F - K
Q
5
. UTG+2 checks, HJ checks, CO bets $35, I raise to $100, UTG+2 folds, HJ calls, and CO folds. ($298)
Great flop but warning bells are going off with HJ flatting my reraise. I think Ax, any Broadway, QQ, and 55 are all possible. I can't give much weight to KK since I feel that even the nittiest of 1/2 players would 3bet it preflop, but QQ seems possible but unlikely given my blocker.
T - 2
. HJ bets $100 and I call. ($498)
Not alot of info on why HJ would donkbet small here. Ax would make sense for value or maybe a blocking bet of some sort with QQ or 55. It feels like it should be a gin card for me but villains line and tightness have me worried about a way ahead, way behind situation so I opt to flat.
R - 2
. HJ bets $200 and I tank for a few minutes and fold. ($698)
I really think I'm beat here, even getting basically 3-1 on the call I don't think I'm good here nearly enough against this particular villain. I tell the villain to show me the pocket 5s after I fold and he says "Good fold. You called it." Whether or not he was leveling me, I don't know but given his quiet nature I think he may have told me the truth. Thoughts?
I plan on playing a few more sessions this month but with work, going out of town next weekend, and other life commitments at the moment, I think this could be a low volume month for me.

Thanks for reading and sticking with me and the thread. Sorry if it's a dry read sometimes but I'm not the greatest of lore writers.
Cheers and all the best to everyone!
