Well after running 14 BI under EV in my last challenge I think its time for 1 last goal in 3 parts.

About me.

I am a 23 year old male from the UK who has been to college, uni, worked for a numbers of years and did more work based training. About a year ago I took a job which was basically my dream job with what I thought was the start of a great career, within about 10 months it had fizzled to nothing, my boss was forever away on holiday and just left me to ''look after'' the premises basically.

So I left the job about 2 months ago and decided it was time to give poker a real shot grinding from the bottom. At the minute I am looking for a full time/part time job to help with living costs etc but its not that urgent just yet.

Why do I want to play poker??

Well when I was 18 I started gambling and quickly became addicted, from 18 to 21 I blew a lot of money within that time, probably well over £20,000, probs more. I have been to gamcare and spent a number of months turning my life back around and removing the gambling problem.

I started playing poker and really enjoyed playing it but then my gambling tendencies came back, I decided to quit and really concentrate of this more.

My Goals - Part 1
  • 50nl by end of year
  • $2000 BR for start of 2013
  • Get a Job

Goals for long term
  • Supernova 2013
  • $40000 profit 2013
  • Play full time for 6-12 months

For the next year and a half I want to get back the money I've blew gambling is my main goal!

Depending on how everything goes in 2013 I may take a run for 300k/400k vpps if things go ok

Just thought I'd make my thread ready for me starting to grind. I may also do a blog later on when i start my quest for supernova in 2013. I'll be depositing by the end of this week. Going to watch some vids each day and study.

Wish me luck!!!

Well here we go, loaded $15.63 onto my account and going to start playing 2 tables of 2nl zoom, really concentrate on decisions, hand selection before increasing volume load.

Going to deposit another $30ish later tonight.

Hey man. Glad to see you back.

I did not know that you had a gambling problem, sorry to hear that. I hope you don't think you are "cured" and are still getting treatment. Addiction is a life long problem that addicts need to constantly treat or it can re surface in other avenues. I hate to sound like a Negative Nancy but I think your main goal should be improving as a player. If you 18 months from now, you're playing 25nl and haven't come close to recouping your 20k in losses, you'll probably be gigantically disappointed.

On the other hand, a micro stakes grinder that just wants to get better every day will look at that result differently and be completely happy with how he progressed and now playing 25nl with a chance to play 50nl soon. Like I said, I'm not trying to rain on your parade I just want to give you some advice is all. And I speak from experience cause I've been there and went through it myself.

GL on your journey. I'll be checking in a lot so it better last longer than the last one! Peace.

I totally undersntand mate and nice advice, yes my problem is something I try address daily to stop myself from gambling. If I dont do it this time I know am not guna be able to do it any other time so its basically I do it or I dont play.

Yeah the goals are brief and just like to put a time scale that I think is realistic and I dont mind if I dont make it any losses recouped is a job well done. My main focus is to become a better player and everything else will follow :-), hopefully.

Just finished a session for today,

Start BR = $15.63
End BR = $24.99
Profit = $9.36

Standard ABC poker, just valued my big hands and got paid alot.

Few hands from todays session, not many spots that I found tricky, never let myself get into any.

Dont know what this guy was thinking.

GL with everything. Pokerstars can limit the games u can play by buyin and type if u want. There is also a great software called tiltbreaker. Very powerful, let's u restrict ur poker based on buyins,time of day,how much u lose in a day, how many hours played,etc. well worth it.

Well boom! finished 2400 hand session.

Start BR = $57.86
End BR = $72.15
Profit = $14.29 (includes $10 from a friend, so +$4.29 from poker)
Total profit = $55.62

Feel I play extremely solid and definitely be putting in a a table of 5nl zoom in my next session, when i get $4-$5 on a table, I sit out, close it and reload it with 100bb again. I feel this is definitely beneficial as it limits my losses and ok it can limit my profits too.

Graph so far at 2nl

Does include some 2nl from previous, this one starts about 3.5k

Played 1 table of 5nl last night for abit.

Start BR = $72.15
End BR = $78.73
Profit = $6.58
Total profit = $72.20

Going to take a 5 BI shot at 5nl and see how it goes, will move back down to 2nl at $50, I feel I have an edge over most 5nl players and also can see no harm if in taking a shot even if its a bit aggro becuase moving back down if it fails is the part that will save me!

Well will start playing a session now and update when I finish.

Well finished my morning session of poker - 1k hands at 5nl. I 2 tabled 5nl 6 max zoom to start my shot taking, start off didnt go too well got QQ v KK in SB v BB, but managed to slowly creep the profit back in, c/betting most flops, raising my big hands for value etc etc. And finally won some flips and got my hands paid so very please with how it went, Ill continue to play 2 tables of 5nl till i reach about 125 then ill start playing 4 again.

So officially moved up to 5nl for the time being.

Start BR = $78.73
End BR = $84.32
Profit = $7.59
Total profit = $78.79

I recived $11 from a friend for helping him out at 5nl and 10nl, so

New BR = $ 95.32
