I moved abroad from England really early. In Gibraltar where I was for 5? years you could walk one side to the other in 15 minutes.

Budapest has the best transport service in Europe imo and taxis are really cheap, not many people have cars.

GF drives so we can always hire one if we need.

Was actually in the middle of learning to drive just as I had the offer to leave England.

i really like the gold coast (#goldcoastgrinders). i'd defintiely stay there or palms place if you plan to grind a big summer. not a fan of staying on strip or in a house, really stifles productivity. no kitchen or fridge in goldcoast is a real killer, so palms place could be a better option depending on your preferences. i feel like there are enough good meal plans around vegas summer now that preparing food isnt a big concern though.

your 3rd option is the desert tide apartments. maybe im off on the name, but its the lot across from the rio, they do weekly/monthly rates, and have had some friends happy with their stay over there

in and gl

Ya, forgotten that you've been away since practically finishing college etc. Wasn't calling you out or anything, seems like you were a little defensive there!

I have a brother (33) who still doesn't drive and a friend who turned 30 also in the same boat and they don't have decent excuses like you do

Day 1 at battle!

Incredibly frustrating day. I started with my A game for 3-4 hours but let some bad results effect my play for the last couple of hours. I saved some hands so will post them here:

Probably most interesting hand I played all day: On the river he cant have jt, its really hard to have 99, he cant have kk and cant have qq. I could have all of the above pretty easily and I don't have many bluffs. I think our jamming range on the river should be 9x blocking his k9 and 99. I'd prefer to have T9 or J9 otr, but I guess I barrel turn with those as they will be close to the bottom of my range.

Super Tuesday bust out: My range here on the button should be polarized and thus my sizing should be a lot bigger, but vs this opponent I had a lot of reads which made me want to make it this sizing. Not sure why he doesn't just raise/gii on the flop. Calling flop/folding turn seems poor to me and its a board I may cbet all my bluffs on (although I think they are pocket pair heavy, so perhaps now)

Ambitious hero call vs me early in 100r...

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...628_0F94DC4B90

Not going to call him out or anything, but he obviously knows its a bad call

Interesting line from Pimms here.. Do you think its value or a bluff?

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...560_F0E11DD9C3

"Hero" fold early in 100r.. People never fold this spot from my experience, but just with him opening off this stack and then checking flop and bet/jamming turn and river I just dont imagine its a bluff. I look like AQ and I doubt he expects me to fold.

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...063_56B422BC83

Defending the big blind. I think in general MTT regs have improved a ton in defending their big blinds. However I think they are poor at relizing their equity post flop or just playing good post flop with weak ranges. Here is an example that is close, but imo a fold on the flop, even with the pot size.

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...261_1AD87D5440

Protecting my range a little.. Interesting pot, after I check flop I don't think I can bet turn/river. Think this is a mistake I see regs doing after they check the flop with pair+fd their hand just feels SO STRONG, that they feel they cant just check three times. On this flop texture I like check back, especially against opponent.

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...485_BEEAC32512

Awful, awful jam from terrible Brazilian reg here with 99 imo. Pretty annoying to lose this with all the dead money too.

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...896_157FC7B4C5

Won a flip.. What do you think vs villains jam vs calling?

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...289_E85E942223

Very interesting hand itm in 320 6max. I want to have a 3bf range here so want to have a 3/5 range too. I think my 3/5 range is mostly pocket pairs/AK. Thoughts on villains play? I'm not sure raising into my big blind initially is a good idea and limping his entire range would be best. Defending vs my 3bet may be best as he will dominate a lot of my 3bbluf range postflop and because my range is VERY polarised here I don't really have a flatting range vs his 4bet. So he's hoping I 3/5 a lot fo Ax hands that dominate him? Seems ambitious to me.

Not sure I'll write as much strategy moving forward, but conciously saved hands for the blog today, its good to be back <3

current CL of the 888 Tuesday $600 has "wug" in his SN.

I'd convinced myself that was you and was routing for a huge score to make the WSOP dream happen.

Guess I'm wrong!

Thanks man! Thinking about getting a house with a few people now, have myself, one guy who plays good stakes online and will be grinding the entire series. Looking for 1-3 others, so get in touch if youre interested in going for the entire series.

Good night for my horses, guy who was in $20k makeup cleared, other all won too. Makes it a good start!

So we (me and a friend) bought this really cool bar in budapest around 2 months ago. It was a super impulsive buy but glad we did it and start slowly learning about business. He had his own bar in Argentina before coming here so he's very experienced etc.

so first month, really good, making great progress, bar is jumping and generally just feels like a good investment. One of our friends was managing the bar. Slowly
Lots of things with him started to go wrong. He was simply incompetent. We decided to fire him this month and over the last 2 weeks have been interviewing 50+ people for different roles in the bar. Events manager, bar staff lots of stuff. Our program is going to be something like

Monday - karaoke night
Tuesday - Stand up comedy
Wednesday - Brazilian night (hige Brazilian student community here)
Thursday - documentaries/speeches from psychology lecturers
Friday - standard v busy
Saturday - standard v busy
Sunday - movie night

So everything is looking great. We are hiring one guy to run each night individually who will get paid on commission and generally looking to get the place very profitable. All the busienss stuff we're doing pretty well. Have good new contracts, new ways of suppliers etc..

Anyway back to the staff. We hired a new English girl on Wednesday. On Thursday our Hungarian girl walked out saying she thought our manager was a prick. We have meetings with all the staff every 2 weeks individually to make sure they are ok, have any concerns etc. But she hadn't said anything. Ok cool, sometimes people clash.

We hired a guy with a lot of experience and who came across very good 5 weeks ago. On Thursday he was taking drugs upstairs in the bar. Gg obviously.

We paid our main bar staff member on Friday. She put the money in the staff room, at the end of the day it was stolen.

On Saturday the girl we had hired on Wednesday stormed out because of the manager. She came back the next day to chat and said our manager had been overly rude and nasty to her then revealed that they had gone out on a date earlier in the week.

The whole thing is just really ****ed up. We basically can't trust any of them. We have new cameras set up and working now and our initial approach of "let's treat them with a little bit of respect and trust and hopefully they give it back to us" is totally or of the window.

The good news is that we have a really good bar, really good ideas and really good people who want to work for us. We've fired the old staff and will be bringing in the new guys that we can trust better and have better ideas etc

Haha one story I forgot.. On our third day in the bar we were letting the staff lock up and open up, which is pretty normal. We had an idea that one of the staff was dodgy. So my busienss partner came in at like 10am the next day and went up stairs to our vip room. In there was or barman with his girlfriend, cigarettes everywhere and half a bottle of jack Daniels gone. I'm not sure how these people have the nerve!

Tonorrow I have a meeting about starting a new business in budapest, frozen yogurts! That should be interesting, the concept is very successful and very popular but have to see if it will work. It's with a girl who used to work for prezi which is a really big start up company and she's a clever American girl who I'm very good friends with. Let's see how it goes tonorrow!

Finally the other business I'm going to start is a beer bike. You can YouTube budapest beer bike or Google it but basically it's a bike where people drink beer and drive around the city. But it's like 8 people on one big bike with beer in the middle. I'd get the beer very cheap from my deals with the bar and then the session would conveniently finish at my bar, maybe we'd even get them a frozen yogurt somewhere along the line too

It's nice to totally switch off from poker for a day or two, makes me even hungrier when I'm back.

Hey man, I wanted to ask you a questions about the bar. Why open the bar in Budapest? What made you choose that place from others, any particular thing?

Hope you crush it this year, best of luck!

For most people an impulse buy is a chocolate bar not an actual bar

Since you seem to be interested interested in start-ups, business etc you might find this product interesting: Saw it on techcrunch disrupt, it's an automated bartender and inventory control software. http://monsieur.co/

Wife has started managing/helping her brother in law in his bar lately and there is plenty of horror stories just like yours. I think people have zero respect any more. If you intend on running a bar either be present 24/7 or get someone who you completely trust and I mean 100% or you are pissing against the wall.

It might take time to find someone but I am sure there is someone out there. IMO, be present as much as possible until then because the **** will continue.

Last weekend, Becks and I were celebrating our anniv and we were supposed to be in a diff town but it didn't work out. When we finished our meal we went to the bar for a drink and when we got there the girl who was working was out in the smoking area having a ciggie. The place had not been cleaned/tidied from previous day etc.

People are terrible and there is no fear when there is no one around to answer to.

BTW she is hosting an Ann Summers night this weekend, could be an idea for your place
