I'm concerned about trying to win a bracelet in low-tops. Has a bracelet ever been won in low-tops?

Electrical and I played 60/120 mix Wed and Fri. Wed was my day to make straights in S8, which was wonderful since I had been in a straight drought for some time now. When you play 8 hands of 11 different games, you maybe only see 100 hands of one game per session, even if your sessions are as long as mine, so your streaks can seem exaggerated. The following are the most notable streaks of the last month:

Cant improve my pairs in Stud
Getting dealt Queens a bunch LHE
People are hitting Badugis on their last draws when I'm snowing
It's hard to make a 7 in Deuce
It's easy to make a 7 in Deuce
I'm losing with my sevens in Deuce
Drawing 2 on last draw in Badeucey and making the nuts
The s8 4th street J
Only winning by suckout
Making scoop hands in Razzdugi

I finished up $5,845 on Wed and $4,555 last night. Electrical was stuck pretty big Wed, but came all the way back to turn a profit. Last night he only got to play about 10 hands before the must move broke, won a quick 2k, realized he was never getting into the main game, and headed out early. I played some PLO while I waited for my seat, and blocker bet my way into a small profit.

Over the course of the year, there's been a shift in our players. Some of the old regs have been coming less frequently, and have been replaced by some guys from a different game in the city. A few rec guys, and bookies. All of these guys I am friendly with, and would consider to be friends, but all of them whine incessantly, and lovingly call one another some variation that will always start off as "you miserable, no good, rat-bastard" and end with "kool-aid man look-a-like fat f**k", "jewf**k", "red-faced fat piece of ****". It's whatever, funny at times, but not really my thing, and it gets old when there's more than one guy doing it, however the whining is the absolute worst, and the more people that whine, the more acceptable it makes for previous non whiners to join the party, making it borderline insufferable to play without headphones in.

There are exceptions however. People who do the hand eulogies ( 'this is what I started with' stare at hand for 2 minutes 'grumble grumble' muck ) slow everything down, and really noone gives any f**ks. But after a dude fling his cards and screams 'C*CK PI*S' for the third time while his hands shake violently and his eyes roll back in his head, a guy just cant help but laugh.

Phone should be in shortly, and I'll get back to posting pictures and video into the thread, which I had been meaning to do from the start.

My $ goal from the start of the thread ( 5-04 ) to WSOP time was 15k and our numbers are as follows

5/10 40/80 Mix +1590
5/13 30/60 Mix -1040
5/14 40/80 Mix -650
5/14 75/150 Mix +3535
5/16 60/120 Mix +4615
5/21 60/120 Mix +5845
5/23 60/120 Mix +4555

$18,450

There may be one more session on Sunday, before I head out on Tuesday, but goal 1 has been met.

Kid is 100 percents dedicated and I expect to be railing him with the rest of Casa Swingo at like 10 final tables.

The change in the complexion of the Chicago mixed games is pretty chaotic, in the mathematical sense. Variance is way up, not just because of the new players and their willingness to gamble. The introduction of new games and cross booking, along with bumping the regular game up to 60-120 has made for some ferocious swings, and when half the table is also involved in every sporting contest on the planet there are a lot of nights where the poker game doesn't seem to hold all the players' attention, but the effective stakes have more than doubled.

It'll be interesting to see this shake out over time. There are certainly players who are only interested in the poker, but the players involved in the most hands are usually suffering at least some additional action.

Osc is spot-on about the change in the table demeanor, and I'll admit I've been acting like a real prick when stuck a bunch. I guess that's new.

Thanks for the additional details. I'm pretty sure the game here reverts back to 40/80 once the majority of us go.

Also, congrats to Matt Ashton for being the first Casa Swingo member to 6 figure score this years WSOP. That was a WSOP thing right? I've decided to call my room the Oscillair.

Private game is running today, but I'm opting out to tie up loose ends, and get a second hour of kickboxing in, before heading out tomorrow.

Bought a Go-Pro.

Really fun read, easily my favorite pgc thread so far. I'm looking forward to often wsop updates.

I'm pretty sure I know which guy you are in the mix game at the shoe. I play NL next to the mix game when it's running always.

I'm looking into getting into the mix games soon. I'm going to play the Aria 9/18 mix a lot this summer when I have some spare time. What advice would you give to someone new is learning? I've heard some of the stuff on DeucesCracked is good? Any reading materials I should look into?

Good luck and thanks a bunch!

Very much interested in the mix game scene as I contemplate how high and how many games I want to play in the near future. Despite my comfort level w 2-7 and badugi, paying for lessons of razzdugi and badacey at 40 and 60 seems a little intimidating. GL and keep the TR coming

As a former pro kickboxer/stand up instructor for MMA, I would love to trade lessons at some point in the future (could even throw in a little kali/escrima). That is, unless you're already as good at thai boxing as poker and you don't have a whole lot to gain. At that point I could only offer myself up as a sacrificial lamb for sparring lol.

Thanks for taking the time to read! Definitely say hey or something if you see me at Shoe or WSOP. My name is Brandon.

What's your plan for WSOP in general? 9/18 Mix doesn't seem to be the best use of your Vegas time, unless I'm confused by the stake of NL you're playing at the Shoe ( 5-10NL next to our mix ). Even if you are a 1/2NL player, I would still imagine that learning mixed while WSOP is running would probably be a bad decision financially, unless you're just looking to have a good time, and **** around.

Sorry I cant be of more help, but watching videos and reading was never my forte; I always just played. I had a DC membership, and a Leggo Membership, but never watched a single video. I did watch all of Eric Rodawig's ( ChipsAhoya ) CardRunner Videos, and I really believe in them a ton. I watched Matt Matros' LHE 3 part series as well, and thought those videos were super informative and fantastic.

Lots of my friends make videos, and I'm sure you can learn something from all of them, but I havent watched them, so I can't give you input there.

I think just understanding poker in general is the biggest help when it comes to figuring out how games should be played. Messing around with programs like Propokertools, and Troutulator, along with draw game simulators ( if you can find them ), really doesnt take up a ton of time, but can lead you to some serious revelations.

If I were learning mixed games starting now, all of my emphasis would be on learning Baducey, Badacey, and Deuce to 7 first, followed by S8 and 08 since these are the games that are almost never omitted from any serious live mix these days. The first two I would learn especially given that they are the newer variants, and players who are otherwise good at other games, are still making basic mistakes constantly.

Otherwise the Stud Forum can be helpful, or you can always just ask me about spots or whatever. Gl!

I think learning them at smaller stakes is a fine idea, and an approach I probably should've taken. Razzdugi I'm still not sold on. You are able to defend higher doors since dealt 3 card Badugis with high doors have more value, but you are automatically playing defensively against a low door, straight from third street, but you're not able to steal as liberally with hands like Jh5c3c when you might be doing that in regular Razz. I think unless you have a catalyst in the game, player-wise, it just plays tight. I'd be happy to share some Badacey tips, but I don't care to post them in here right now before WSOP.

I'm definitely interested in hearing about your fighting history, and would love to chat about fighting theory at some point! I'm nothing special, but I enjoy game planning, and think poker theory is extremely applicable to fighting, especially from a balance standpoint. I'll be bringing my thai pads, focus mitts, and gloves out to Vegas to get some work in, and train friends during the series.

Oddly enough I bought a GoPro, and brought it in to the gym to see how it works before I saw this. The video is pretty technically sloppy, but it was fun little thing.

GL today in the PLO event, congrats on making it so far in your first event.

My plan was to play 5/10 & 10/20 nl and take like an off day or a few hrs/day and play in the 9/18 mix. I'm only going to be at the wsop for 2 weeks and the first part is for a bachelor party so it's not a strict grinding trip.

I'll definitely check out the videos you recommended and play with the programs. I'm glad you suggested a priority list with the games and which ones to approach first. That helps a ton, thank you.

Thank you and good luck!

How can you stand the $10 ante in that 40/80 game? I grew up in the suburbs and was just at the shoe a couple weekends ago when I took some leave to drive back home. That's crazy loose third street play in the stud rounds.

As a side note, I was interested in hitting up the $20/$40 game that weekend (two weekends ago?) but that's shot-level for my BR and the half-kill was ultimately the turn-off. Despite Hollywood Aurora being a ****hole, the $20/$40 half kill would probably be more lucrative than the shoe's anyways (judging by the $10/$20 half kill action).
