So as it turns out, I set my goals at the beginning of the year far too lofty for me to achieve so far. With school occupying my time I haven't been able to grind as much as I want or devote the time to bettering myself as a player or putting in proper volume to expect to meet my goal of $100k profit for 2016. I've been playing well below my skill level and not giving it 100% everytime I sit down to grind, so it stands to reason why I haven't had the success I'd hoped for thus far.
In a few weeks, I'm done with school and can focus solely on grinding with no other priorities.
For now though, until the end of April, I'll be rebuilding, since other financial obligations along with not a lot of success lately in poker has left me in a bad spot.
I'll be starting from the bottom with $2.50 and $4.50 180 mans, along with $3.50 STTs and MTSNGs. I'll be grinding these excessively until I have what I believe a playable roll to move up to $7 sngs and $11> tournaments and forward. It sucks not having a bankroll to start out this challenge but it'll feel that much better when I've exceeded my goals, knowing that I started from the very bottom.
Starting in May, giving me a full 8 months left in 2016, my goals are as follows:
- $40,000 profit by the end of 2016
- At least 34 figure (or higher) scores this year - an average of 1 per week remaining in the year (starting from the beginning of May)
- Goldstar in May, and PlatinumStar every month June and forward, since may will be just working my way back to having a playable roll.
Be a steady, winning grinder with the following games on my schedule:- $7 and $15 STSNGs and MTSNGs
- $8 and $15 180 mans
- $11-$55 tournaments, mixing in higher buyins when I can satty in or if my bankroll allows it
- Hyper satellites $18.75>
While staying away from:- All cash games
- Spin and Go's
- Most hyper turbo tournaments
- Any games out of my bankroll
I'll be grinding both Pokerstars and Full Tilt. I'll provide charts, as well as updates on notable scores and I'll also post when I'm deep in big tournaments if any of you want to sweat. My search will always be on.
