Been a while since last update, been mega busy in and out of poker and had a bunch of coaching and stuff that needed completing so sorry for that.

This month feels really gross to be completely honest - but results just arent that bad. Feels like every session is a true grind and stuff just isnt going that smoothly, tonnes of standard deviation, just when a sesh starts to go well get coolered etc. Untracked site im swinging harder than a ravers jaw which is incredibly frustrating because the games there are ******edly soft, the regs literally have 0 idea whats up. Oh, and if I could actually win my ev for once that would be fantastic too.

Not going to post any hands this time even though theres quite a few that I could. Might have to watch the next couple RIO vids I post for those

Was feeling at a bit of a low ebb earlier today but managed to force myself to grind a second session.

This one was fun and made me laugh.

He must've thought "**** this team no bluff nit I'm gonna fold and show just to tilt him". Shoutout to you Andy - made me feel much better!

Month Results:

All in all a pretty frustrating month, ev-wise cant be too disappointed but there were too many sessions of B game and being nearly 15BIs below ev is never fun.

That being said, this month will be a big one for me as I'm going to be shot-taking 400nl games so fingers crossed we dont hit a rough patch and finish the year on a high!

Untracked site results were slightly disappointing this month although I lacked a bit of discipline there and also games didnt run as often as the previous month. I was actually losing ~$1k there until the last 2-3 days of the month and on the final session managed to win $750 and bring us +$600 for the month

Freeroll

One positive that came out of this month was the strong volume I managed to put in. Honestly, it really felt grim to put in sessions where I wasnt feeling like playing but I feel better for doing it. Managed to crush the volume freeroll (sorry guys!) and managed 125.6 hours this month!

Alright, had the weekend off so will be playing first session of the month today and the first 400nl shot this evening. Got the flat decorated ready for xmas so feeling a lot more festive now.. just got to get all the presents sorted as 0 clue what I'm buying anyone at this point

Going to briefly outline my goals for this month below, less emphasis on quantity this month and more on quality. Hopefully I can achieve both but we shall see, fingers crossed that the games keep on like they have the last few weeks!

Poker related goals:

- 3 hours study p/week
- Shoot 400nl
- 30 hours poker per week minimum -> Includes coaching, study etc
- Minimum 2 study session with other regs

Non-poker related goals:

- Tennis 2x week
- Gym 1x week (havent gym'd in literal years so want to slowly get back to habit)
- Stretch 3x week
- Maximum 4x restaurant trips this month
- Less time wasted on Youtube/social media

Overview

So nearly halfway through the month and no update yet, sorry!

Been pretty busy but still got some ok volume in so far with a mixed bag of results. 400nl Ive played like a complete binman in a bunch of spots so deservedly losing there, altho the poker gods are choosing this month to hand me some EV, so shoutout to them. Comparatively running well at 200nl so doing pretttyyyy good over there.

Just a random musing related to mental game and poker in general:

I have felt a bit stressed lately - I think related to xmas and some other stuff in personal life. This morning just took some time out to chill and take care of the things that were stressing me, (bashed out 90% of xmas shopping in 2 hours ) replied to coaching inquires, personal grooming, etc. Took some time to think about why I was feeling the way I had been and bam - perspective shift and all's well. Taking time out is underrated especially when self employed - its really easy to feel you have to work when you have free time but its better to see the bigger picture.

Aaaannnnyway... Goals update:

crazy how the vast majority of us dont have a set day off or when we take it we feel guilty about it. IVe been trying to do it last couple of months. The "freedom" of this line of work is the ability to take the day off whenever we want. Even more important while shot taking, running bad, or at any period of the grind that bumps up the stress levels.
If we look at it from any perspective, gains while exercising, eating, even with chicks. REsting is imperative for improvement.

HH2: Vs reg. Prob bluffing the best hand.. felt ok-ish combo-wise



HH3: Vs reg. Within the bounds of reasonable - make river mistake with sizing but get the 40second timebank fold anyway

2018 Poker Summary

This year has been full of ups and downs, poker-wise it has been the best year ever for me. Im really proud of the progress I've made in my game, having a very solid winrate compared with other regulars, and to now be producing content for RIO.

I planned on trying to make the most of the soft xmas games, but instead took an extended holiday during the festive period and didnt play from 23rd Dec -> 1st January. I still managed to book my best month ever, unfortunately more due to run good than anything - but i'll take it.

December 2018



2019 + Goals

Plans for 2019 are going to be focused more around quality vs quantity and moving up stakes. I want to nail down a better study routine and surround myself with other players with a similar drive to me. I'd really like to be in a position to consider shotting 1kNL this time next year. We shall see how that goes.

I really want to focus on maintaining/improving work/life balance that I've improved upon this year. For me, this is at least as important as the progression I make in poker. Additionally, I'm going to have a full private health 'MOT' early on in the new year, I've realised how important being on top of my health is to me, both mentally and physically - In recent years this has not been lacking

Goals

- $100k 2019 -> Including both coaching $$$$ and table profits
- 600nl reg looking to shoot 1kNL by December 2019
- >4.9bb/100 ev 2019
- 120 hours poker related work p/m
- Travel to minimum 3 new countries in 2019
- Make club tennis mens singles team
- Get back in the gym
- Continue to progress with personal health -> Mental and physical
