Poker Update:

FR

Tried to persevere with some more FR. Wish I hadnt. Its kind of fun (and by fun I mean not fun at all) to play with the standard of regs there, continuing to run like aids especially vs some fish there. Its interesting to see Spazzy_igna to be one of biggest winning regs there. He for sure exploits well. Will post some HHs below:

6-max

Whilst there has been a good number of games running, I assume bc of WCOOP, quality hasnt been amazing. Been playing fine for the most part, probably averaging B+ game or so. Also managed to reverse the trend of last month and am chunks above EV which feels good.

WCOOP

**** MTTs. Enough said. Been a week of showers, running strong pairs into stronger pairs in all the important spots. Had a decent run in the $109 turbo but was compensated by busting 3 bullets in the $109 6-max PSKO in prob one of the softest fields ive ever seen. C'est la vie.

Irl Musings

Met up with a couple of poker guys in London which was a lot of fun, went for a couple of drinks which turned into a lot of drinks and getting home much later than anticipated. Goes without saying that I didnt manage much volume the next day Going to meet up with deathorglory0 when he makes the trip to London next weekend which Im looking forward to.

Trying to join a tennis club has proved difficult however, some having waitists as big as 350 people. I guess that might be a product of living in close proximity to Wimbledon, might have to widen my search area.

            Update:

            Poker:

Volume this month has sucked a lot but results have been very good, havent played when I didnt feel like it.

Also finally started mixing an untracked site (2 days ago lol) I have been wanting to for a long time and playing up to 400nl for meantime. Its actually pretty funny playing in small pools with little competition, I legit think 400nl there is ~25nl stars if not 10nl but traffic is low.
To illustrate: A reg that plays up to 2knl there called a 4B OOP 200bb eff wKTo vs large sizing. Regs 3Bing BTNvsCO with JTo, A8o etc etc

Might have some potential coaching offers in the pipeline which would be nice, but shall have to see if anything develops on that front.

            Results:

Nice to manage to hold onto the above ev sunrun, hopefully the month closes out the same way <3

Also +$600 untracked and -$1k WCOOP so meh

This is a fairly large river mistake -
generally when your hand beats a real amount of villain's range on the river (6cxc, kcxc) - ev for checkback is a few blinds higher than ev for bluffing.

Welcome to the thread and thanks for the contribution!

Yeah, I agree with what youre saying here, and worth noting I didnt post the hand because I thought it was played correctly etc. Having just simmed this spot out of curiosity and given Pio's calling range OTR I think its probably closer than you might expect between x and b if we were to input the OOP calling range that population will play. Having said that, I retrospectively think x is still the play here

Disagree w/ the 98 check back, you rarely win at showdown.

What site is the untracked one? If its ggnetwork then stay far away.

              Tyvm mate!

Yeah the ev of x in Pio was ~7.x and b ~4.x (our sizing was >ev than both jam and smaller size). Pio was hero'ing a decent frequency A5, A9 some A2-A4 some KJ, QJ etc which seems unlikely imo

Dont really want to out the untracked site, but its not gg and its not pm etc. Most people probably havent heard of it anyways.

              You're welcome :-)
I wouldn't be surprised if you're right - however you need to be a bit careful with this.
First of all - make sure you agree with the range pio gets to the river with (population might slowplay more or fold flops/turns more) - so you can't just a sim only by the river.
Second and more important - if you do decide this is a spot worth overbluffing, it's best to do it with different combos - you still want to keep your aggression frequency somewhat in check, and never showdown a hand that will make people go "hmmm... this guy is a crazy maniac" - you can easily overbluff river by quite a lot without getting into these kind of combos - just bluff every hand pio mixes at 100% frequency and valuebet less thin - this way you can keep putting pressure on people without them finding out what's going on.

All valid points, fwiw at the time I expected that the 8x blocker (and also 9x if villain is thinking about effecive bluffcatching) would actually be disproportionately valuable here compared with other bluffs, although of course theres an inflexion point with ev of sizing choice with these combos that sometimes win at showdown and how we expect population to respond. Also the natural gutters especially without a club should unblock enough of OOPs folds in SRP that they are just better

I don't have proof, but I'm convinced that the Chinese "whales" you see everywhere are really super users that entice you to play in a rigged game. Iso them + cbet and they x/minraise you all day, flop a hand and they snap fold. Reading through the gg thread a lot of other players had similar experiences.

              Bit late but September results:

Pretty disappointed with volume but irl this has been a big month and a busy one a that which partly excuses is. Really nice to run above ev and make up the difference that we ran below ev last month

Running okay on untracked site although am mixing stakes from 100-600nl there and have run badly at the less frequent higher games. Overall a very good $ month of poker with +$8.4k stars cash, -$1k WCOOP and + $850 untracked. This month looking to play significantly less on stars, more untracked and also possibly China apps, hopefully I can play more hours than I managed last month

              -------

Went out last night and met with some guys from poker, drank way too much and managed to lose my phone on the way home which is seriously frustrating but wcyd.

Hope everyone also had a good month. glgl guys

              Sunrunner

Also +$900 untracked this month as well, playing anywhere from 200 to 600nl, running really well at lowest stakes and really badly at highest but up money isnt the worst outcome so no complaints here.

Alright, the heat is over. We've got well and truly trashed in the last 48hrs. - $1.4k stars and -$2k untracked, i think ive played okay all things considered, however have been coolered left right and centre. Ive definitely made a couple decent mistakes but Id say that overall we played B+ or A-

Going to try and regroup and fire a session tonight, hopefully we can regain some momentum and finish the month strong.

Hope everyone reading is running better than I am!

              Long Overdue Update:

Its been way too long since I've updated here, last post we just got smacked about for 2 days but we've been doing well since then and month is looking good. Feeling extremely confident about my game but also in acknowledgement that I'm prob running well atm (8bb/100 since September 1st).

Volume this month has again sucked, so next month I'm likely going to be posting a freeroll here again. Next post will also contain (hopefully) some exciting news, watch this space.

              Hands

HH1: Ehh, we ran it. Not convinced this hand is played optimally, might fit better into a different line but I dont think it can be a huge mistake.

HH2: Was such a dream slowroll spot but decided to play fair I think villain's river play is questionable for 1.4x pot

HH3: vs spewy whale. I like his line. wp nh

              HH4: No comment. Sometimes lucky?
