Long time PG&C lurker posting my thread to track the grind/comeback attempt

23y old from Canada, I had been grinding part time successfully for a couple years along with work but sometime last year I ended a long term relationship, quit my job and shotted live 500nl this past winter and ran bad/punted/partied away my 6kish roll like a dumb degen kid

Learned my lesson the hard way, took 4-6 months or so away from poker but after watching Polk and currently Carrels BRCs, a bunch of Ingram pods and reading all the great PGCs here I am fired up to make the comeback. Doing it right this time.

Currently have quite a bit of free time to grind while I am in between jobs (I work seasonally) + my life expenses are paid for the next little bit, so I can grind hard with no distractions now.

Back grinding 10z on Stars off $50 initial bankroll (which is obviously hilarious and dumb) but I was planning on reloading up to $400 if ran bad off the start.

Luckily we have ran hot to begin and the BR is up to $254 after smashing 14bb/100 first 14k hands, with a couple micro MTT punts. Plan is to hit the $600 mark before going at 25z with a 4BI stop loss. Fair plan or no?

Big Conor McGregor fan, which is where the thread title is from. Hopefully when I am beating 200z I will be able to relate to some of his quotes

good Mcgregor video that Ive watched 100x:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3jwYzxnqv0&

Thx for reading, will include HHs and graphs later. Time to grind.

Thank you man. Not rolled to play live yet, just going to build my roll and work on my game in zoom for now. Trying to play at least 4k hands/day.

Folded QQ pre yesterday. Rarely ever do this, but at 10z vs a relatively unknown who jams over the top of my cold 4 I think its +ev. Berate me?

Damn. Tough session. BR was up to 290 but ran 4BI under EV in 10z today. then fired 25z session and lost 3BI fairly quickly. Ran a big bluff into the nuts, made a bad hero and AKsuited<KK aipf.

BR is back to a meager 210 and we're back to the micro streets tomorrow.

welp, thats the first 20k or so hands so far at 10z with a little 25z. You can clearly see where I lost 3BI real quick at 25z. That was unpleasant but we're back fighting the good fight at 10z until $600 roll to fire some 25z.

Won like 14BIs in the 10z streets today. Just pillaging these fools. BR is at $403. Might dip my feet in the 25z waters tomorrow with a 2BI stop loss.

Don't think many people read or care about this thread yet because Im just a micro fish but Im still going to use it as a journal. Just sat down this AM with coffee and warmed up with some 10z but my mind is feeling sharp and 25z pool looks like a bunch of 1tablers so going to fire. Just 2 tabling to begin to make notes on players and so I play my A game. If I run pure today it will really expedite things bankroll wise. Leggo!

Annnnnd down 5BI. Leveling myself a lot making lighter hero calls because I think people are capable of bluffing since its 25z but no one is. Got to tighten my river calls and keep attacking capped ranges because the 4 table grinders from East Europe grinding their 1-2bb/100 for rent dont like to call off light.

Well I weathered the storm of that run-bad intial 25z shot 10BI downswing and I am now residing at 25z with a BR of $615 right now.

Everyone at 25z is awful and no one can fold, which is mostly fortunate but occasionally annoying when I have the nut low and cant help but to bluff. I am excited for when I reach the midstakes and actually get to battle with thinking players versus just playing solid strat for now versus these donks. I dont think I can identify one "good reg" in the pool who Im afraid is going to put me in tough spots. Maybe a couple Russian nit regs have ok fundamentals and probably make a couple bb/100 versus all the recs and whales, but thats about it.

I feel like my biggest opponent until I reach the mid stakes is myself. While I dont have "the receipts" to prove it just yet I am fully confident I can steamroll the 25z pool for at least a 5-6bb winrate, hopefully more. The only thing that holds me back is not thinking clearly and slipping up in spots when my mental game is off. So I will have to work on my discipline day in and day out and never play when I'm not in a good space. Things like working out, eating healthy and just having a distraction free space while Im playing make a huge difference for me.

Also I dont know about everyone else but Stars rakeback has been fairly reasonable to me. Ive binked probably ~$120 in chests since I started playing 2 weeks ago.

Next update will hopefully include a very sexy 25z graph and me preparing to pillage the 50z streets. For the time being, this is the best I can offer:

Going to start journaling daily for the time being maybe, here goes:

Thurs Sept 13th:

2hrs workout in the AM. Cardio, lifting, basketball.

25zoom session in the afternoon. I think only 2.5k hands but I heatered for 4.5BIs. Wanted to keep playing but my mind felt too sluggish for cash, so I fired some MTTs. I was in for $30 and out for $7. Probably didnt play very well tbh, but not going to bother getting deep into MTT strat for the time being. Played the $11 WCOOP and unfortunately

1) It took me 4 $3.65 6max 2 seat hypers to bink a $11 ticket, run bad

2) 4bet jammed AQo co vs btn 3bet 39bb or so and get called by KQo and lose. Freakin' lol. Then I send the hand to an MTT playing friend and got told I should just call and fold any flop without a A or Q. That sounds massively weak and exploitable, but who cares MTTs are just a fun gamble to me. MTT regs must have sick mental games to take all the losing days after losing days.

Current BR: $711

----

Plan this weekend is three consecutive sick 25zoom grind days in row. If we run pure it could be 50z time not too shortly after this weekend. Im tempted to play the $22 deep stack slow format WCOOP tomorrow as my edge would def be massive but that seems like an irresponsible tourney BI for my BR. Maybe I can pawn off 50% to someone and hop in, or maybe Ill fire a couple sattys. Anyone want 50%? DM me? Not going to be BR irresponsible and fire the full $22 myself though.

Good quote I came across today was:

"Sleep on a win and you'll wake up with a loss."

The second you become complacent and lose your discipline is the second you'll lose your winning edge. Tasted a bit of success in poker last year but rested on my laurels and made poor decisions, resulting in going busto. Not happening again, Im coming for you soon 50 and 100z, and Im coming for those sweet, sweet bbs/100.

For now, pillaging 25z.

---

Quite the gift from my friend in the BB

Hey thanks dude. Yeah hopefully 50z soon! Gonna post a 25z graph after 30kish hands probably if Im not busto by then

Sept 14th 2018

Fired two $7.5 hyper sattys to the $22 deep WCOOP this morning and binked the second one. Grinded that tourney on the side of zoom grinding this afternoon and made a little run. Had some run good, had some run bad and eventually got card dead and ran TT into KK for 12bb. Was 40minutes away from making Day Two. Cashed for $96 off $15 entry though, not bad. Tourney was super soft until the end when its mostly legends. Girafganger was one of the chipleaders left in the $22 lol. Next time I'll play right from the get go if I see a soft deep tourney to maximize ROI rather than late regging.

Zoom grinding to the start of the day was off to a slow start with some cold blooded setup hands to burn a couple BIs and then I mostly switched my focus to the tourney. But spending the weekend with buddy to just grind away in peace. Lets run it up
