I'm an overly lazy completely average live poker player and below average online poker player. It's time to change that. I've had a few PGC's before and just completely forgotten about them, I intend to keep updating this with hh's and the like.

I play a mix of £1/£1 and £1/£2 NL live and currently 16z online after a slight break from online play. I also work FT so poker is just a hobby for me, albeit a profitable one that I hope becomes more and more so with probably more online play during the week and live play at the weekend. I also have some other side income each month that I'm donating 10% to charity, starting this month, and I'll likely do something similar with any money I make from poker, however slight. If anyone has any recommendations for worthwhile causes please post them below.

I'm not sure what to expect from this thread, likely the usual HH's (most likely butchered) and what not.

Cheers guys.

Yesterday was a good day, + 2.5 buyin's online and also ended up +£127 in a live game. I'd planned to play today but having looked out my window it snowed overnight so I don't particularly fancy driving 45 minutes through snow and ice.

Online it is.

Does anyone know how we post screenshots to here?

Use imgur.com, just upload and then hoover over the uploaded picture, select "get share links" from the droplist and copy the url from "BBCode (Forums)", paste here and done.

It's been a good start to the thread, PGC run good is real.

I'll make a proper post with some more hands tomorrow night, I just wanted people's thoughts on this hand.

V is 19/16 over 55 hands so it's probably questionable to flat the 4b as it's not an amazing price but we're IP and 150bb deep so I think it's okay? Imo a flop jam maximises our fold equity, denials villain a chance to realise some equity and guarantees we see all 5 cards if villain has an overpair.

Definitely not an expert on 4b pots so not sure about preflop. As played though vwp def GII as you're flipping with the top of his range 8+2+3 = 13 outs * 4 = 52%. nh!

You can 'solve' spots like these on the flop using a fold equity calculator https://redchippoker.com/fold-equity-calculator/

Not the best couple of days, roughly breakeven after being up 7/8 buyins. Full post coming later.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good monitors? Not sure if I'll go with a single or dual monitor setup and not looking to spend loads, £100-£200 region ideally. I'm thinking perhaps 24-26 inch but not sure what's ideal for pokerz.

It's been a frustrating few days since starting the thread, 5.5 buyins below EV over only 8000 hands, although having said that I have without doubt spewed far more than I'd have liked when I was tired from work/football Monday and Tuesday, probably 3/4 buy ins worth which is gross. I think in future I'll try and just do some off the table stuff perhaps after football as it knackers me out and I struggle to play my A game.

    A few hands;

    1) V is 33/26/4.5 but only over 40 hands so no major reads. Not sure about river, it might be a sigh fold but otth his value range seems so thin here as I don't expect him to 3b much Tx (especially given we block JTs hard) and overpairs are likely quite hesitant to bet again when TP pairs.

      2) The population in general seems to way overbluff v small cbet sizings and often pull the trigger repeatedly so I've been playing about with smaller cbet sizings. A nice example of this here, although perhaps we should size up as we kinda need a lot of protection oop.

        3) 19/12 over 65 hands so pretty tight player, I think we run into sets so often here with some KQ as well. The turn seems pretty bad for us as I expect him to have more KQ combos than any other Kx but x/f turn is just way too tight.

I'm not sure why this hand didn't post along with the others.

4)V is a Belarusian uber nit by the looks of things, pre flop should probably just be a fold perhaps as we do pretty poorly vs his squeezing range and I don't expect him to ever put in more than one bet as a bluff so we don't have great implied odds either. OTF I badly wanted to fold but I just figured there's gotta be enough spaz factor to get it in. I think this is a spot where we can make a hugely exploitative fold if we're certain V is a giant nit but I don't think my sample was anywhere near enough to do so.

            January Recap

Live poker - I only played three sessions I think, overall I lost around £1k so not the best.
Online poker - I also only played limited sessions, starting on the 19th and finishing a few days before the end of the month as I developed a pretty bad ear infection so didn't feel like playing too much. My gf was also in town last weekend so I didn't play at all then, however we did go and see The Greatest Showman (highly recommend!!!) . Going forward, I think I spewed far too much and need to cut down on this and better at realising when I'm playing my B/C game and promptly quitting.

            Results

            And in graph form

I also made £630 of other income so donating 10% of that. I'm looking at charities for homeless people near where I live as it's a pretty major problem, especially over winter. No poker earnings involved in this as I lost chunks live, hopefully February goes better.

            February goals
            • 30.000 hands online
            • 5 to 10 hours of study time
            • 3 sessions of live poker
            • Maintain A game throughout sessions

Bump. I really haven't had much time to play/have focused on some other things the last month or so. Hopefully in April that'll change.

            March

As you can see, March was basically a b/e month with very little volume. I also managed very little study time.

I've decided to drop my table count from 3-2. I think the lower h/ph should be worth it as I'm going through each spot in much more detail and finding lots of spots I previously auto piloted. I've also started working with a coach and in a small amount of time we've found some considerable leaks in my game (as I expected would be the case) so am very hopeful for the next few months.

            April goals

            Poker

            1) 20,000 hands
            2) Somewhere around a 3:1 Play/study ratio.
            3) Go through 5+ marked hands per session

            Non Poker

            1) Exercise 3x per week
            2) Improve my diet considerably
            3) Spend my time more efficiently.

The last goal is quite vauge but I'm sure most people here can relate to it, I just waste too much time doing nothing in particular which I want to change. Wrt points 1/2, I've always been slim but in recent years my diet has become pretty bad and I've stopped playing sports so I've gotten into reallyyyyyyyy bad shape. It reaffirms how lazy I am seeing some people on
here in incredible shape and also putting in serious volume in poker.

I managed to play a small amount today and it went well.

I'm going to run through a few hands from today now and then get to sleep.

            Bump (again)

I was thinking of why I haven't been updating this much but truth be told it's just because I'm lazy. I basically failed at all the above goals too so only up from here.

I fly out to Thailand to backpack round SE Asia (cliche) in 6 weeks time so I'm gonna look to post more here until that time and play considerably more live and online before I go as I'll likely play next to none for however long I'm out there.

If anyone has any must see recommendations for SE Asia please post them here, besides landing in Bangkok and going north towards Laos I haven't got much planned atm.

Good cash games in Cambodia from what I understand. Also decent Stars WPT events and cash in Vietnam. Wouldn't touch live in Thailand. Obv Macau has sick live games etc. Think Stars and maybe other big name clients are banned in Singapore IIRC.
