Subbed and in!

Dunno if it’s something you’d be interested in but you could do a write-up as to the reasons you forgot about your last PGC’s. Might help for when/if you lose motivation.

Cheers guys, I’ll report back on Cambodian games when I’m there. For some reason I’d just assumed Vietnam wouldn’t have poker either which in hindsight is pretty stupid given the number of Vietnamese tv pros.

I think part of the problem for me motivation wise is that while I really enjoy playing, I don’t think I have the absolute love of the game that you need to succeed and keep grinding. It’s all too easy for me to have a busy few days and just not have any desire to play and once it the habit just leave poker for however long. I think poker is best for me as a rec with a profitable hobby.

Ironically I’m most motivated to play atm and have been really missing playing but can’t do anything about it while I’m travelling. I might be heading on to Oz so if I do I’ll get back into playing on Ign and Melbourne live games.

Long overdue bump.

No real poker updates bar 25 hours at a whopping $7 ph in Phnom Penh but SE Asia in general is **** sick and I've spent the last three months boozing my way round seeing some truly amazing sights, meeting amazing people, doing amazing things blah blah blah. I might do a full recap when I'm back next month and have a computer again.

The main reason for this post is I'll be moving to London and would like to be in a grind house for December and maybe January too, does anyone have any idea where to start to look for one? Looked in travel section on here and couldn't see anything, any help would be much appreciated.

Very jealous of you right now, mate. There's nothing I want more than just to be out there already. Enjoy the time you've got left though!

My room is available to rent in Jan/Feb incase you don’t find anything. It’s not a grind house though!

Haha you can always move your flight forward! I think I'll be heading back to CM/Pai for a week ish as my last destination before flying home.

@Ben idk how to multi quote off my phone but Ty, I'm hoping to have it sorted before then and I'm gonna guess we might have slightly different budgets haha. Hope Central America is treating you nicely, definitely near the top of my bucket list.

Hi all, another random update.

I'm back in England on Wednesday so looking forward to playing some Poker again but that's not the reason for this post.

I follow a fair few PGCs on here and one of them is WalmartCNXN's called 'The Final Frontier'. Shout out to him as he does a really good job of trying to keep things in perspective and maintaining a positive outlook on things which is something I try to do but am rarely successful at.

I was getting a grab (Asian Uber) in Borneo a few days ago and was really tired and feeling sorry for myself as I had an 11 hour bus ride ahead of me, had barely slept the night before and I rarely sleep well on buses. The reason I was tired was I'd spent the previous two days scuba diving and was heading to spend the next 4/5 days scuba diving in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

The driver then started asking me about what I was up to in Borneo, if I'd been anywhere previously etc and when I told him he said how lucky I am to be able to do such amazing things and how he wished he could travel to some of the countries I've been to. This made me realise just how lucky I am and how stupid it is to lose perspective and let the little things annoy me rather than count my blessings and appreciate how fortunate I am to have spent the last four months travelling around some of the most amazing places and doing the most amazing things ever. I think in the West many of us are guilty of this as it's so easy to just focus on those we perceive to have it better, easier etc. We don't think about the people who are less fortunate than us who would kill to be even close to the position we're in and have the opportunities and lifestyle we have available to us that we take for granted.

Tldr; rambly post, count your blessings and try to keep the little things in perspective as they really don't matter.

Gl and happy grinding.

Huge +1 to that M8. Drove past the slums on the way to the hospital today and it's a pretty big eye opener of how some people live. Being grateful is super +EV to overall happiness too imo, if only we could remind ourselves constantly.

Great post, mate. It is indeed very easy to forget just how lucky we all are. I'm glad you've had the time of your life out there.

I'm back home now and job hunting whilst also playing some poker. On the poker front, online poker is going swimmingly and I'm sun running to disgusting levels. I think I'm playing quite well too but I guess it's hard to tell when you're running so hot. Live poker on the other hand isn't going so well. I played one session and it was the deadest I've ever seen the card room I play in. Combined with the 90 minute journey it doesn't seem worth playing live unless I'm down in London so probably only online updates and HH's for the most part.

glgl, next update probably tomorrow or on Monday as I'm away for a few days. I'll probably throw in some freerolls to try and motivate myself as I'm supremely lazy at a time I kinda can't afford to be so giving away some money seems a good way to hopefully combat it.

Lmao, sustainable right?

Played a live session at the empire the other day (win with 65s and get take free for the night for those unaware) and literally the first hand I get 65s and cbet take it down on 432fd infinite ways. Second hand I get AA and double v AQ all in on Qxx. Third hand I fold J6o, and the fourth was AA again and I won a small pot. It was the most ridiculous thing ever. The end of the session was super tilting as I got AK<AA and KK<AA all in pre in the space of four hands so I just called it a night early and met my gf for dinner. That makes 6 hours of live play since getting back and AK<AA twice and KK<AA once which confirms live poker is indeed unbeatable.

nah not in the south although I'm often in London for life stuff.

Played a tiny online session just and realised how bad I actually am at poker. I feel like I'm so unconfident in sooooo many spots and just clicking random buttons without any real logic/thought process. I guess I can spin it as a positive as it means I've plenty of work to do and have loads of room for growth, just need to work out where to start. I'll work my way through Upswing's stuff as well as RIO and see where we get to.

Had a change in focus and circumstances so felt a new thread was in order. I'll try to be better at updating that one than I was here. The link below will take anyone interested to it.
