Feel like I should play more zoom. Games seem to be better on 500 than last year for some reason. More comfortable and less stressful grind. Higher WR less variance cause much lower rake, lower RB and USD... Don't get why they dont make zoom €.

V just can't bet 1/3 here unless he's trying to induce which pretty much nobody ever does. I can x/c a lot of range here, any A, any gutter I can x/c hands like Jxs txs qj kt kq kj, vs 1/2 pot, most of those hands can x/c 2/3 as well. In villains eyes I should also be more likely to x/r vs 2/3 than vs 1/3 cause most of my range is OC.

So all of his pairs are valuebets for 1/2+, a lot of very mediocre turns for his entire valuerange so definitely have to prot. The only reason for him to bet 1/3 is to try and make me think that he's betting a 2 or so like that with a gutter or 2 overs.

I would x/c KT vs 1/2+. I can call 1/3 ofcourse but I beat his betting range on the flop and will jsut lower my EV if I let him see turns. On top of that I can have hands like A3,63s,44. Villains flop 3bet doesn't play along with his betsize and I felt like 4bet doesn't play along with my valuehands. I can still hit T K and he can spew off with whatever he has.

Turncard and betsize don't make any sense. He shouldn't 3bet Flop with sets /2pairs, he should consider checking turn and letting me bluff, he shouldn't bet straights for 1/3 otf.

Call just gives away EV at this point and x/j should generate fold almost always

It's my day off. I'm down for the month on the tables but up a little bit with RB. This month is the worst I had in a while and I might just restart on September 01. I feel like it'll motivate me to try and put a good winrate together but if my first month is breakeven that's going to cripple me a bit. Undecided..

Fwiw, I'm still winning for 2 evbb/100 this month. yay

August recap:

A ****ty month, but it wasn't all ****. I failed all the goals I had set here.

August results:

Volume: 43.472 hands (Goal was 65k). I decided early on to only play 6 tables instead of 8-9 tables which I assumed I was going to do when I set
my 65k goal, well, even if I would have played 8-9 tables I would have failed to reach 65k hands.

Netwon: EV- down 193 Euro. I think this was the first month I wasn't able to make EV-winnings
Since I started 6max, besides my very first month.

Coaching sessions: I had 3.5 sessions (3.5h), goal was 12.

Thoughts

The bad: I struggled a lot with motivation and tilt this month. I failed all my set goals.

The good: This month got me thinking a lot and made me improve in some significant ways. I upped my aggression a lot, this is something I have been struggling with for a long time. All in all I think this month did more good than bad, I made some money post Rb so I can afford a cappuccino with my coach..

I will be taking 1 week off in roughly 1 week, a short holiday with no poker at all. This is by far going to be my longest break from poker this year, I have had 3-4 days off from poker 1-2 times earlier this year. I think this holiday is going to be really good for my motivation.

I haven't thought of new goals for this month, I will come up with something and post within a few days.

New month already, glglglgl everyone!!

Update

Im mid-holiday now, but I cant stop thinking about poker, so I will make a small update here.

Had a good start to the new month, which feels great after last months big failure.

Volume: 11.774 hands. Which is alright for the 4 days I was gridning.
Net: 628 Euro pre rb. Only played 50nl.

Thoughts: Overall I feel less tilted than last month, I have felt very focused for the most part during my sessions.
My redline has improved a lot, the sample is obv tiny, but I have changed up a lot in my game in order to improve my
redline so I doubt its just variance. One goal for this month is: Redline that is losing for max 10/bb, 10 is still quite high
but I dont wanna set too big goals for such a short amount of time.

Once Im back from my holiday I will write a post with all my goals for the month.

Glgl

See you zoom.

Demonstration of variance

Player A and Player B start with 20.000$

Both play a 50 BI bankrollmanagement

Both play 50.000 hands / month

Player A will upswing over the first 100k hands and win 100 BI (chance is around 7%)
Player B will downswing over the first 100k hands and lose 30BI (chance is around 5% for that)

Journey Player A Month 1-2

Player A plays 400 NL wins 50 BI moves up to 800NL (for demonstration)
Player A plays 800NL wins 50BI and moves up to 1.6kNL

---

Player B loses 25 BI moves down to 200NL
Player B loses 5 BI on 200NL

After 2 months

BR of Player A will be at 80.000 USD

BR of Player B will be at 9.000 USD

---

Was kinda bored and wanted to see how big the difference can be. This is a top5% run vs a bottom5% run ~.

The financial difference is huge already but take a look at the mental game part. Player A will think he's the best player in the world because he just wreckd midstakes for 10bb and player B thinks he can't beat 200NL anymore. Player B will also most likely put in many less hours, potentially tilt or play less focused. Therefor his losses and time spent in downswing will increase.

Even if you run this Top 30% vs Bottom 30% and take some mental stuff into consideration the difference in hourly will be huge. Also think about people who mix like 400-1kNL, variance will be even bigger.

And these are calcs at 93bb deviation and quite significant winrate.

A breakeven player has like a 15% chance to out$ your 5bb/100 over 2 months grind.
