hey 2+2.

Iīm a former poker player from Germany. Played between 2006 and 2011, 1 year full time as a grinder with multiple 6 digits. Played up to nl1000 shottaking, regular game was nl400 on stars. <3 the golden days...

Found a girl, got married, 2 kids and going full pro longer than the year wasnt possible. For me girl it was ok, but couldnt stand it mentally. Not the swings and loosing money, more that the mental aspect (tilt) influenced my general mood and my family life. Used poker as a nice side income and quit after graduated and started my job.

Corona got me back. Working for the governance my salary and job is 100% safe, but volume got reduced. Nice ^^ Much time to fill in the office. Got back, opened an account at GG poker and tried everything. Damn, things have changed. Tried everything new (spins wtf) but was bored. Even the All in or Fold Tabled with huge swings and the slots (dumb me)... Nothing made me happy. Itīs not about the moneyz, itīs about mastering one type of game, getting better, progressing, climbing up the limits...

Will go for PLO. 0 Experience and a 250 bankroll. Will start at plo5 (buyin with 50bb so 100 stacks) and climb up asap. My wife and me both got well payed jobs, moneys doenst matter that much for us. Living the good live, but weīre both very economical with a huge saving rate and stuff like that.

Iīm into cars, atm I`m driving a Leon Cupra station waggon with 300hp and enough space for the fam. Want to replace it with something bigger. Maybe Kodiaq RS or draming of an Audi RS6 <3. Could easily step into a car dealer and buy one, but thatīs not the way it works. Is spending 50-80k for a new car rlly neccessary when the old car gets the job done as well? Thatīs why poker is there Thatīs some kind of "play" money for me, spending it for unclever stuff without regretting it too much. If things get well plo will pay a part of my new car

cheers

I think if you are a proven winner at NL400-NL1000 with multiple 6 digit scores, you can easily find a backer within the next day and be back in the game. Go to staking deals in the forum.

I get the notion of "lower variance" so the wife doesn't beat your ass, but you cant go from beating mid stake poker to playing for $2 pots in .02/.05 cent plo. This is just ridiculous in many ways. One being a big waste of time if your goal is income/hourly.

In fact I think I could just run a script/bot on my computer 24/7 mining virtual game currencies/exploits and have a higher hourly.

thanks for your reply.
I was a proven winner at NL400 with some nice shots at NL1k. But that's 10 years ago and it was nlhe and games got harder and ofc I've lost some skill. Sure, I got the experience but at the moment I will get crushed at plo 100 4 sure...

I understand your point but I'd want to make my own progress climbing up the limits. plo 5 should be easy going and with some experience I'm planning to move up the stakes with a quite aggressive brm.

for now, it's not about hourly, it will take some time to get to the numbers I earn at my regular job. it's about getting better and climbing up asap I don't need a baker as well, could easily deposit a roll for plo200 which is max at gg poker.

ofc I will study, starting with plo from scratch and the free content on YouTube. will take some look at jnandez and other online stuff when I reach a certain level...

started playing today and had to play plo10 since there was no traffic at plo5.

Wife, 2 kids, poker as a side hobby for fun money. Sounds exactly like the challenge I've started for myself lol. I"m also on GGPoker, I'd say skip the fast fold PLO and just move to the 6max $10PLO. Lots of money there.

I'm gonna check your pgc later
tried the normal tables as well. were super soft and the jackpot is nice as well. but rake is higher (don't know if true but read it a lot) and volume sucks. can invest 15-25 hours a week for poker and volume is much higher on rush and there you got the leaderboard. got always just like very small time frames like 20 Mins, just starting rush is therefore much better than starting normal tables, waiting for blinds...
