Quick Update:

Grind has been going fairly well for me as of late. I have been putting in quite a bit of work and just transitioned to using a HUD in the past month. (Sort of regret not using one all along). I've had some nice deep runs lately in some big tourneys and ft bubbled the nightly 162 last night for chip lead flip .

All negativity aside I was off school for Spring Break last week and caught a nice little heater. (1st 8c on Sunday for 5.3k, 2nd Big 11 for ~8k, and 1st Big 55 for ~14.3k.)
I am supposed to be starting p90x (@ home workout/cardio program) on Monday so hopefully I can find the motivation to stay with it!
Here is my yearly graph: http://gyazo.com/5abd973bab32657ce7b392398e835027

Anyways, time to go do a little life loving before the weekend grind

Good luck y'all!

Sunday Funday Update:

Hey guys, figure I'll make a week end update and hopefully it will help me chill out a bit. I had a super rough weekend on and off the tables. First of all my girlfriend that I have been living with for over a year decided that we should end our relationship after an argument that we got into. It's a tough pill for me to swallow as it is my first serious girlfriend and I took a lot of things for granted. As of now I am facing the realization of not appreciating what I had until I lost it. I would give up any of my poker winnings over the past couple weeks/ do whatever needed to fix our relationship. The sad fact of the matter is that there is 0 chance of getting back together and it's time for me to better myself as a person and learn from my mistakes and use that as motivation to move on! (Sorry for rambling lol).

Onto the pokerz stuff: Sunday was an absolute disaster. Not only did I sh*t the bed I sh*t the whole f*c*ing house! Basically my temporary place of residence is in my friends spare room and the internet went down all day long. Not only was I completely hungover and a wreck I had to grind on my POS laptop. After reging a tonne of games my laptop decided to freeze and leave me sitting out for ~1 hour and putting me out of rythm and mildly tilted. After this I found another computer and just got slaughtered for a couple hours and then decided the optimal line was unreging pre. Don't even think I cashed a tourney lol.

On a more positive note on Friday night I shipped the 77 6 max turbo for about 2.7k and some random 33 for about 800. (This virgin IP address running pretty hot thus far.)
I apologize for the negativity and it's time to play the hand I've been dealt and take the most GTO line.

Thank you for the support of poker friends and IRL friends in getting through this tough time... for every dark night there's a brighter day...let's f*****g get it!!!

I'll start off with a little update. Welp, I chopped the SM for 165k last night which dwarfs my second largest score by about 10 fold. I ended up 1 or 2 tabling for about the last 7-8 hours of my session and got some key run good when I needed it. Feels nice to finally have something to write home about with poker. This win should give me some nice breathing room to take it a little bit easy with grinding for a few weeks and work on developing a healthier lifestyle. I have been reading lots of material on positive thinking etc in hopes of becoming a more positive person in general and I think this will help quite a bit
I will give a more thorough update hopefully in the next day or two.

Thanks for following and glgl!

Sup guys,

Haven't made a post in ~2 weeks now so I would like to make one just to catch up on my progress in the last few weeks. This is by far the best poker has ever went for me throughout my ~4 year career as a grinder. I am not gonna lie very few days would pass where I wouldn't think about the opportunity cost that I was paying to play the game I love for a living. I have never exactly been broke in my years at University but I have never really had a substantial amount of money more than my colleagues or those who pursued different post-secondary goals. The emotional and physical toll this game can charge those who are not careful is quite immense and I have definitely paid the price in those two categories. Thankfully, after the heater that I have been on I can honestly say that I am happy that I have put so much thought and time into poker and made a lot of the sacrifices that I have. That being said I now have a little bit of cushion that I can take a bit of time off to put everything into perspective and nurture some of the areas of my life that I have so long neglected.

I have been researching lots on the power of positive thinking and trying my best to implement many of the tactics learned into my everyday life. I feel like some of my bitterness has stemmed from the neglect of the areas of my life that I once cherished. (Sports, Friends, Working Out), as well as being at a school so far away from home where I really have never been satisfied with. I think that this is probably the time where I should take a step back and get some perspective of everything and put a lot of emphasis into patching up the areas I have left alone for so long.

A little bit more ranting and then onto a recap of results...

So today a random reg was abusing me in chat saying things along the lines of: walmart gonna sell packages @ 1.4 now surely, and "I'm sure the high stakes guys are gonna love ur money". First of all I find it to be somewhat laughable as I have almost 0 intention of playing the high stakes games. (Other than a few shots here and there+some of the bigger events.) At the same time it shook me a little bit as I feel like I could hold my own in those games. (But to each their own). I will also make a side note that people like this do not do the community any good by discouraging weaker players. (Although I don't mind and am guilty of it from time to time.)

No, I do not intend to punt off the lion's share of my net worth in high stakes MTTs. I have also not degened it (yet) on hookers, cars, and blow. I am planning to invest about 80% of it. Besides a new laptop I really have not spent money on anything since my milly score. I also booked a fishing trip way up north on an isolated in the middle of nowhere.

Pokerz:
March was the best month of my career as a poker player. Some of the highlights:
1st 8c on a Sunday ~6k
1st Big 55 ~15k
1st T-Rex ~5k
1st 109t ~5k
Chopped SM ~165k
a deep run in the Thrill, and FTOPS Main event.

To add on today I got 3rd in the Big 75 ~5k

Best of luck on Sunday Funday!

Completely understand this, I don't think it's abnormal to feel that way if you're a poker player or go to work/school 24/7...like I do lately.

First off congrats on getting the year off to such a great start!

I'd just ignore the negativity from jealous haters, from what I've seen you've been VERY fair wrt to selling packages at great value with everything included. I'd like to see how many ppl will still include big 11$ or the sunday milly after such a bink, tbh most just sell the hs part where they know their edge is limited and variance is huge and just keep the best value mtts for themselves.

anyways, if I was off a bit better atm I'd def invest in every package you put out. Didn't get the chance to rail THAT much but was def impressed from what I've seen.

Gl, will be a fun one to follow (if you update on the reg )

Thank you for the kind words. Yeah exactly. Part of it is the nature of the game I think and by desensitizing yourself to swings etc.. it leaks into areas of your life (at least I feel that way). Although I will admit the lion's share of the problem is just me being exhausted by school and poker that it's tough to allot time to other equally important aspects of life.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Yeah, I agree with the fact that my packages are fair value for investors and I feel that making mutually beneficial transactions is the most ethically correct. ie. buyers help me reduce my variance and keep me focused on playing my best whilst I provide them a good sweat, timely payouts, and hopefully a healthy return. However, there are packages that sell out for higher variance games, worse results, and higher markup all the time. These predatory packages are those that I believe should be discouraged but to each his own.

Sup y'all,

Just gonna do a quick update to maintain a semi-regular update regime. Haven't been putting much time in online at all as I have been in Florida for the past week. I came down here for the WPT Seminole Hard Rock 5 Mill gtd. First day here I played a 300 dollar satty and made the 3500$ ticket so basically freerolled the trip...(so I thought). Long story short: before playing the satty I had already bought my Main Event ticket as I did not plan on playing the satty in the first place. After getting the ticket I asked them if I could just unregister the satty and get cash or Tourney dollars, they said no...unless I bagged on the first day of playing. So I played day 1 and ended up busting towards the end of the day. I then proceeded to ask another staff member if I could use my satelite ticket. After seeing that I was Canadian they said that to use my ticket I would have to be taxed 30% on the satelite...and I would have to pay additional money to enter the Main Event again. In other words, my 3500 ticket + 30% of the BI again. Technically 4550 to play a 3500 event. I was extremely tilted after this because I did not think I would be taxed on a satelite win because I thought that would just enter me straight into the main. However, for some ungodly reason the United States Tax system taxes me 30% to enter the tournament, and 30% of my winnings from that tournament? WTF. Next, contrary to the belief of the former employee, this employee said that I could just have the cash value of the tournament ticket (with a deduction of 30%). Being tilted I just said give me the ~2500 cash and left.

On a brighter note I have had a really fun time in Florida and have 2 more days here to enjoy. Going on a deep sea fishing charter tomorrow which I am super excited for.

I'll be travelling home for SCOOPs and plan to put in a tonne of volume and some zombie sessions. Now that I am done school for the Summer I want to make a few more guidelines for my PGC:

-60 minutes of cardio per day (1st priority)
-Eat 6 small, healthy meals per day that are low in carbs, fat etc etc
-No more energy drinks
-Get a gym membership when I get home and go there at least 5x/week.
-30 minutes of poker study per day
-Play poker at least 4 days per week and play as many SCOOP events as I can.
-Help gf find a better job
-Do a little more life loving than I've been doing.

Thanks a lot for reading guys and best of luck at the tables

PS: @ Seminole Hard Rock: Make sure your employees are aware of rulings and are all on the same page. I was told 3 completely different rulings from 3 separate employees. This is unacceptable. Also knowing that I was basically obligated to use my second bullet I played a lot more aggro on my first bullet when I got shorter stacked. Had the first employee given me correct information I would have employed a completely different strategy.

Hey guys,

In hopes of re-railing a de-railed train I thought I would do a little update post heading into a crucial time of the year. Lately I feel like I have lost my hunger for winning and that has had a direct impact on my struggling bottom line. I have been going through the motions in making 2 various vacations and for the most part have played like an absolute box of sht. Thankfully, I forced myself to take a little time off of poker the last couple weeks with a couple sporadic sessions. This small break from the tables has actually helped me immensely in putting things into perspective. I have now landed a pretty sweet gig in helping out with a small stable which has taken up a bit of time.

Tomorrow I head back to my apartment to grind in a SCOOP oasis! I am making a few SCOOP specific goals that will help put me in the best possible spot to get a sexy score:

1. Go jogging every morning followed by YOGA (or vice versa)
2. Eat a nutritious breakfast
3.Game select well during SCOOP and avoid extensive shot taking
4. Stay focused at all times through long sessions
5. Enjoy the moment and be happy for the opportunity

Other than that, holy f*** we're already in May! Almost half the year has flown by. I'm starting to feel way better than I was in my darkest points throughout the past 2-3 years and I can feel things changing for the better.

Thank you very much for reading and I will post a couple thread savers below to express my appreciation Best of luck in SCOOPs lets get it!!!

“The caterpillar is a prisoner to the streets that conceived it
Its only job is to eat or consume everything around it, in order to protect itself from this mad city
While consuming its environment the caterpillar begins to notice ways to survive
One thing it noticed is how much the world shuns him, but praises the butterfly
The butterfly represents the talent, the thoughtfulness, and the beauty within the caterpillar
But having a harsh outlook on life the caterpillar sees the butterfly as weak and figures out a way to pimp it to his own benefits
Already surrounded by this mad city the caterpillar goes to work on the cocoon which institutionalizes him
He can no longer see past his own thoughts
He’s trapped
When trapped inside these walls certain ideas take roots, such as going home, and bringing back new concepts to this mad city
The result?
Wings begin to emerge, breaking the cycle of feeling stagnant
Finally free, the butterfly sheds light on situations that the caterpillar never considered, ending the internal struggle
Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and the same."

Supsup everyone,

First off, I hope your Sundays were better than mine! So far SCOOP has been pretty rough on me. I had a deep run in the 82 variable speed last night finished ~100th. Feeling like I have lacked a bit of focus on the grind. This week is dedicated to shrinking stakes and recouping a bit of loss from the previous week. The highlights of the week were basically 5th in the Big 27.50 when I had a heap of a chip lead with 7 people left, and 5th in the Hot 22. (Close but no cigar). I felt on top of the world at this time last weekend and now after this week the complete opposite I am going to try to make a habit of posting a few interesting hands in here whenever I update. Will get that started now:

1. http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...548_09E19E7162
-This hand on ft bubble of the 54 KO... I feel like calling here hurts my stack utility quite a bit although not sure I can fold given this price? Thoughts?

2.http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...468_4EC9237528
-Although this hand had a very good result I think I kind of misplayed this hand. The villain was a fun player from Switzerland who seemed to love the game. Kind of awkward when he used such a big sizing on flop I think he sort of commits me there. I guess having the ten of diamonds in my hand helps slightly as a bluff catcher.

3. http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...291_54FDE145F2
-Not sure why I decided to get funky with this one, although I don't hate the flat pre flop. I think my post flop line is OK considering the guy in SB is a fun player. My plan was to bet fold every street, and then figured that if he doesnt raise the turn his range is basically draws and Qx for the most part and he would be a bit too horny to fold.

4. http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...955_162074BBD8
-This hand was FT bubble of the Big 27. Villain had 3 bet me I believe 2-3 times from this exact spot and felt like he was targeting me out of spite or something. Perhaps I should have flatted his 3 bet but I felt like he would flat my 4 bet every time and I could rep a lot stronger range than if I peeled his 3 bet. Turn is one the nut barreling cards for me as a bluff because I pick up lots of equity and also probably convince him to fold a lot of the hands in his range. Feel he floats lots with middle pairs and probably folds those out to my jam, and possibly has some AJ too.

Anyways, I'll wrap it up there let me know what you guys think Good luck in the last week of SCOOP let's get it!!

1: seems fine for the price ur getting over 2/1 on a call but interested what other regs might say I mean. 84ss although at the bottom end of our range I'm sure guys will call any two in that spot
2. Interesting shove on the turn but against said villain it's probably fine

Hey Guys,

Thought I'd update this thread as I have been a slacker for the past 1-2 months. I have been working on doing a little life loving while the weather has been very nice here. Unfortunately, this means I have basically done 0 grinding. 2 Weeks ago I travelled very far North and went to a fishing camp with 2 friends. Was a pretty cool experience as there was 0 human population there and the lakes have been untouched by man. (Same as they were 200 years ago). During that week I had a good opportunity to relax and forget about the stressors in everyday life.

Last week a couple friends asked me if I wanted to come to Vegas with them. (Being the degen I am I couldn't resist). Vegas was a pretty cool place although I did not experience it as much as I would have liked to. I ran like crap playing Blackjack and Roulette ended up getting pretty tilted. For self-punishment reasons I played a 235 Deep Stack Tourney and ended up chopping it 4 ways for slightly under 5k to basically freeroll the trip. My passion for live poker was re-ignited and I wish I could stay longer and play the Main Event. (Maybeh fly back?)

As for online poker I have been very withered and have probably put in <10 sessions in the last 5-6 weeks. So not much to write home about there. In closing I will post a couple hands from my session yesterday:

1. http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...992_AB18A2712C

^ I got basically the nut best outcome from this hand although I am really not a huge fan of my line overall. I sort of like my check call on the flop as I think it is important to include strong hands in this range. People aren't ever folding to c-bets in these spots either so I'm not sure it might be better to bet this by default and then ch/c turn and river. Turn in this hand I think I could raise for protection and value. River I think it is slightly a mistake to jam over his raise as quite often the only worse hand I can get value from is AQ/KQ/KJ which I have some blockers to. Whereas, he still has lots of hands that beat me in his range. Therefore, I think calling is probably best?

2. http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...714_9BEEC68D3D

^This hand hurt a bit. I was about 7 people away from the money and the guy on button was a reg that seemed a little bit crazy (Super bounty horny!) I am not sure if I am better off folding this spot and just getting into the money. I wasn't sure at the time if he would be 3 betting those type of hands but I had a suspicion so I suppose it's kind of good to get that in.

3. http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...015_C04DC57A58

^This hand was a bit interesting. The opener was a pretty loose reg and I was thinking flatting can induce jams from the shorter stacks pre flop as well as I can have a deceptive range. My thinking on the flop is that I could flat the c-bet and the short stack would jam, then big stack would re-jam for the bounty. Of course this back fires on me and I get a pretty bad run-out. On the turn I was checking back hopefully trying to get to showdown/possibly value bet certain river cards. River it seemed like he was value betting possibly AA/2 pair/sets/bluffs/some 88/8x.. I felt too stubborn to fold here and felt like my hand was almost always beat. Decided my jam looks super strong with the bounty on my head and that certain board texture (I do have the K of hearts too which is possibly the nut best blocker here)... He ended up banking for ~120 seconds whilst I pooped my pants.

Please let me know of any thoughts or advice on those hands I would love to hear some opinions. Thanks guys and best of luck!!
