Sup y'all,
Just gonna do a quick update to maintain a semi-regular update regime. Haven't been putting much time in online at all as I have been in Florida for the past week. I came down here for the WPT Seminole Hard Rock 5 Mill gtd. First day here I played a 300 dollar satty and made the 3500$ ticket so basically freerolled the trip...(so I thought). Long story short: before playing the satty I had already bought my Main Event ticket as I did not plan on playing the satty in the first place. After getting the ticket I asked them if I could just unregister the satty and get cash or Tourney dollars, they said no...unless I bagged on the first day of playing. So I played day 1 and ended up busting towards the end of the day. I then proceeded to ask another staff member if I could use my satelite ticket. After seeing that I was Canadian they said that to use my ticket I would have to be taxed 30% on the satelite...and I would have to pay additional money to enter the Main Event again. In other words, my 3500 ticket + 30% of the BI again. Technically 4550 to play a 3500 event. I was extremely tilted after this because I did not think I would be taxed on a satelite win because I thought that would just enter me straight into the main. However, for some ungodly reason the United States Tax system taxes me 30% to enter the tournament, and 30% of my winnings from that tournament? WTF. Next, contrary to the belief of the former employee, this employee said that I could just have the cash value of the tournament ticket (with a deduction of 30%). Being tilted I just said give me the ~2500 cash and left.
On a brighter note I have had a really fun time in Florida and have 2 more days here to enjoy. Going on a deep sea fishing charter tomorrow which I am super excited for.
I'll be travelling home for SCOOPs and plan to put in a tonne of volume and some zombie sessions. Now that I am done school for the Summer I want to make a few more guidelines for my PGC:
-60 minutes of cardio per day (1st priority)
-Eat 6 small, healthy meals per day that are low in carbs, fat etc etc
-No more energy drinks
-Get a gym membership when I get home and go there at least 5x/week.
-30 minutes of poker study per day
-Play poker at least 4 days per week and play as many SCOOP events as I can.
-Help gf find a better job
-Do a little more life loving than I've been doing.
Thanks a lot for reading guys and best of luck at the tables
PS: @ Seminole Hard Rock: Make sure your employees are aware of rulings and are all on the same page. I was told 3 completely different rulings from 3 separate employees. This is unacceptable. Also knowing that I was basically obligated to use my second bullet I played a lot more aggro on my first bullet when I got shorter stacked. Had the first employee given me correct information I would have employed a completely different strategy.
@ US Tax Laws: Wtf
