That wasn't the logic I was using at all, because in many tournaments simply cashing will make you a PROFIT (perhaps not you if you're like this, I meant one).

When you're playing a tournament and you've spent so much that only 1 place will make you any serious profit (with 2nd more or less breaking even) do you think that's going to be a profitable proposition? You're seriously implying that your long term ROI doing this is positive? Sit down!

That's completely different to entering and failing to cash in any tournament. It's concerning that you've got almost 9k posts on here and seem to be incapable of realising that information. You are disregarding prizepool distribution when rebuying for so much in a tournament. Do you habitually enter tournaments with no regard for PP/entrants/places paid/protifability?

Ask a few other peoples' opinions and see if I'm the only one saying this. I was asking a simple non-negative question and your responses are in some ways hilarious and others just utterly flawed. Good luck. I won't be following this anymore.

what was your general strategy for the $50gtd? did you come up firing playing like a maniac gambling it up or did you not play many hands?

did you have a big stack going into the final 4-6 players? or were you short stacked?
Basically I just tried not to do anything stupid and it worked.

You're not including the times that I don't rebuy nor add on in your roi calculation.

If you don't want to follow that's ok with me.

I played two afternoon tourneys and finished second in both of them. I just got two outed on the river in a massive pot that would have given me a dominating chiplead heads up, but oh well. Those are the breaks.

Big freeroll tonight in addition to the usual schedule. It's the $500 gtd that I have yet to win. Will report back.

Played about 23 tourneys the past few days but only cashed in one. There was a bad slump of 20 or so tourneys in a row in which I failed to cash. I broke the slump last night with a second place finish in the reduced price rebuy $2 game without rebuying and declining to add on because I had a ton of chips.

Currently playing the afternoon $10 game in which I have more than three times as many chips as everyone else. They all have about 400 to 500 big blinds and it’s a very slow structure.

I took out two people with a king high straight and a flush redraw with QJs that I just called with the whole way while they were bombing it with big bets. Was a 150k bb pot at the time.

Current mtt bankroll: $81.75 with $11 in play.

I took second in the $10 + 1 no rebuy game just now, which paid $33.60.

The long structure of the tourney isn't very appealing to me as it takes about 4 to 5 hours to play usually. Start with 1.2k big blinds and 18 min gradual increase = slow as **** but I gotta take what they're giving.

During the game, we discussed better structures and I think tomorrow it will be a more normal tourney.

Also I misspoke here:

Quote:
Was a 150k bb pot at the time.
Not sure what the blinds were at the time, but I remember winning a 75k chip pot. So it was probably 50/100 or 75/150, which would have meant that it was a <500bb pot. Still a nice hit though.

The rest of the tourney it was basically steal steal get caught stealing at about a 2:1 ratio. Had a couple big hands go my way once we made the money and then I had two very tight opponents left after this hand, or something like this:

4 handed with small antes
button raises 2x, I call 22 in the small blind, big blind calls.

Q52 with a flushdraw

I bet 2/3 pot, big blind shoves about 10x pot, button folds, I call and scoop vs AQo.

----

Then it became a game of steal steal steal steal get caught stealing at about a rate of 4:1. However, I did lose a few big pots along the way, giving the player to my right the lead. I forget exactly how the tight guy to my left got knocked out, but I do remember that I had a small chiplead of about 153k to 148k and the blinds were 600/1200 with small antes. So there was still lots of poker to be played. I stole a lot of pots but there was little to no value betting available for me. I lost a few big pots and ended up at a severe deficit of about 30k to 270k. I probably could have lasted a bit longer if I was intent on not busting, but I went for the double up in this hand:

blinds 1k/2k with small antes. I have 30k and am the shortstack heads up for a total of $87 prizepool to be distributed 54/33. Top 4 spots got paid in this one out of 12 players.

I raise on the button with J8o, big blind calls.

862 with a flushdraw

checks through

7r

he bets 2/3 pot or so, which was normal for him, I call with about a pot behind.

J of flush

He checks. Here I debated in my head about the value of checking back or betting. I ended up shoving and losing to the Q4 of flush.

Oh well. GG.

Also, swcpoker changed up the tourney schedule, fitting in lots of tourneys at or under 1 chip buy in. So we decided to expand the mtt action to include those tourneys. Started with 0.23 chips of my own and got a 10 chip transfer from my manager.

Played two tourneys last night for 0.5 chips each. I failed in the first game, but I won the later game, which paid 5.1 chips. I got lucky a few times coming down the stretch and had a 6:1 chiplead entering heads up play. I would have been quite disappointed if I didn't win that one. The heads up battle was not easy though; I doubled him up a few times but I kept chipping away winning lots of small pots uncontested. It finally ended when he shoved his last 4 big blinds and I called with a lot of big blinds behind.

Played a freeroll and 5 tourneys. Had a pretty good day and went 4/6. However there were no wins on the day. Got my money in the middle in some really good spots, such as AJo vs 97o for 18bb 3 handed in the money, which would have given me a decent chiplead going heads up, but the 97o hit a nine and it held. GG. Also cashed in the freeroll for 0.2 chips. Total profit on the day was 2.04 chips. As of now, 1 chip is worth about $12.

The private site was shut down for good shortly after I got a $200 reload from the boss.

final bankroll: $187.90

totals:

$300 in.

$580 cashed out.

--------------------------

$280 profit for a little over 500 tourneys since August, or $140 each.

swcpoker:
