In other news, i have gotten a lot better at keeping track of pot from my 1/2 days where pots are 2 digits to 5/T pots where they are 3-4 digits. Still forgetting to add the blinds sometimes and underbetting the flop but im getting quicker at adding raised and reraised pots post flop. Math skills yo.

Thanks. i think it was an easier transition for me as I got used to playing 5/5 with mandatory straddle first

Great thread. I am also working full-time while getting in some online hours on nights and weekend. I have a couple questions for you.

How is your stress level at work? Do you still play after a particularly tough day at the office?

Does poker affect your job at all? Do you ever feel mentally exhausted or catch your mind wondering when you need to be focused?

It depends on what you are doing with the rest of your life i guess. I did some major fri/sat sessions this month which helped racking up hours.

Blergghh, just realized that my hours are gunna be reaaal ****ty this month. I have to take a week off at the end of the month for family visiting, and i made plans for most of this week, so basically not playing for half of the month. Urrrghh. Ill be lucky if I get 60 hours in. My results so far is really putting pressure on me to keep on doing well.

Somehow missed this earlier. Yes i love the freedom - but shall we call it the freedom to put in the volume?

Good luck on going pro, any pg&c in the store? Where and what do you play?

The stress level varies at work. I usually just try and turn it off and go off to play anyways. Unless work ends super late, Ill still try to put in some hours because everything adds up.

But poker does affect my job to some extent. Both jobs requires some deep level of processing and it's tough to get really good at both. I played a lot of july semi auto piloting and this month kind of caught myself doing that at my day job, which is not good at all. I'm making really exciting progress in poker so naturally im thinking about that more often, but on the other hand i have to remind myself my day job is my real career and i need to get more focused on that even though im making way more money at poker.

Doing like **** in terms of hours this month so far.. it's not that I havent been wanting to go play, but something always came up and I made the more +lifeEV choice of doing those things instead.

Only played 4 sessions so far this month - 2x 5/T at Borgata during the open, one T/T (new milestone moving up ), and one short lol1/2 with #teamduke. All that was for a total of 15 hours, blergghhh. Down slightly overall but it's all good.

Atlantic City TR

Played cash 5/T during the Borgata open last weekend.. no chippr0n this time as I got stacked once with AA (they rivered two pairs - it was a bet small/fold spot that I didn't catch, and instead shoved oop for value - so I could've saved a little bit) and went card dead for the rest of my time there.

I can't say the action was especially good, but it was definitely not bad - although everything does look worse when you are card dead. There were tons and tons of headphone/ipad combo/tournament players from out of town at every table so it wasn't a very social place overall.

The must move system was terrible given how busy they were. At some point there were 8x 5/T tables with 3 mains and 5 must-moves. So the must moves were always short handed and you kept on changing tables.

Mandatory trip pictures:

Spoiler:

I love nice hotels and that includes borgata. It reminds me of being back in vegas.. ♡

Dinner date at Izakaya - borgata's japanese restaurant, kinda overpriced but reaaally good

Beach day to unwind! (The other beach, not the boardwalk)

I promise to work on some legit chippr0n for the next trip

It's been a few years since I played at Borgata. Out of curiosity were there multiple 10-20/10-25 games going? Those were usually better games than 5-10 when I was last there.

Yeah there were 2 10/25 on the weekend at least. I didn't play it but was told that they were decent.
I feel like it's almost better to play the 2/5 - much easier game with much less variance, even though you can win bigger pots at 5T

Given you were willing to pay $25 per cocktail the other night, I have to wonder what "slightly overpriced" means when referring to presumably high-end Japanese food.

Looked up the restaurant, and was way off in my expectation...Was expecting $50 per sushi roll or something.

If you get nothing but sashimi the price adds up pretty quickly.

Im such an "economical" drunk though two drinks there usually do it for me, which might work out to be cheaper overall compared to other people's typical night out at the bar

And yeah this. Everything on the menu isnt that bad individually but you prob need to order like 10 things to make it a filling meal (and i am able to eat japanese food like a pig)

The gf has this thing where once she gets sushi on her mind she just keeps coming back to it until she actually has some.

And it doesn't even have to be from a restaurant. She'll get a so-so grocery store sushi platter just to make the craving go away. Although apparently one store sells sushi that's crappy enough that it won't suffice. Serious business.

Sushi is addictive. Grocery store sushi is worse than not having sushi though
