I have been playing poker for about 2 years now, only the last year seriously tho, and have been recording my results and trying to improve my game by scouring 2+2 threads and discussing hands with friends. I play home games for micro stakes and low-mid level NL at casinos( im only 20 but i look older ) I started this year with a BR of $1000

So far: 51 recorded sessions BR = $2865
~$13/hr

My Goals:
1) Increase BR to $5,000 by the end of 2011
2) Have a $25/hr+ winrate
3) Take a shot at the local 5-10NL game (500min - no max)
4)$25,000 BR by the end of 2012
I will try and post results and HH as much as i can

I normally play 1-3 (80-120 buy in) and 2-3 (100-300 buy in)

and yea ive been playin in 21+ casinos since i was 19 and ive never been carded haha

interesting hand from a couple sessions ago. Playing 1-3 (80-120 buy in) sit down with $100 and immediately get 66 MP raises to 8 (stack ~100) i call on the button blinds fold

Flop ($18) 27A
MP bets $12 I call putting him on a FD or overs KQ QJ etc

Turn ($32) 9
MP bets $20 (he looked very tentative to bet before he finally did) i call putting him on the same FD or maybe just a flat-out bluff which happens a lot in this game

River ($72) 4
MP bets a very weak $26

I think he can but i dont think he would bet Ax 3 streets unless it was AK or flopped 2 pair but he would most likely check that on the flop (i have a little history with this player but not much)

Played a home game last night with some friends .10/.25 played pretty well, had some big bluffs that worked out, hit some hands and got payed off. Overall good session but we only played for 3 hours +45

So i still needed my fix on poker for the night so i headed down to the Hustler (which is down the street from my house) to play some 1-3 (50-100 buy in) donkey poker. 2nd hand i get AQ flop top pair local reg called me down with A4o. Had to lay down JJ against a solid player on a 832r board. He 3bet pre-flop (1st or 2nd time all night that there was a 3bet) and called for set value since he had $120+ and i covered. Ended +64

Total BR : 2974

you can't call for set value 40bb deep.

I raised in the CO small ($8) after 1 limper button called SB called and he made a tiny 3 bet to $15 out of the BB and it folded to me, so with ~$30 in the pot already and only $7 to call i was getting something like 10:1 since he had ~$120 left

Drove out to Morongo casino last night with a couple friends hoping to win big (since its 100 miles away) Got there at about 8 and a game just started with me being the 9th player. Unfortunately the 1-3 game there is 40-200 buy in and most people buy in for 40-80 so it takes a while to get money on the table. Not many interesting hands just REALLY bad play from the other players ie cold calling a 3bet (~$25) in the SB with a $40 stack and 4 people in the pot...

After about 5 hours on a very fun, entertaining table ended up $111

BR: $3,085 Finally crossed $2K in profit!!

In the next few weeks im gonna take a shot at a 5-5 game (300-500 buy in) at the bicycle casino hopefully it'll be a big boost to my roll!!

Sorry for no posts in a while but ive been busy with school stuff. Anyways, i decided to nut up and take a shot the 300-500 (5-5 blinds) game at the Bike last night. Played it pretty tight for an hour or so, took advantage of some weaker spots at the table then this hand came up


2 limps to me on the button (stack ~$425) with AK so i make it $25 and get 2 calls from BB (pretty solid player but has shown a couple bluffs and semi-hero calls has about $500) and UTG+1 limp calls me (weak tight live reg has about 275)

Flop: ($80) K7J
They check to me i bet $40(bad sizing i think? whats better?) BB calls UTG+1 folds

Turn: ($160)7
BB checks i bet $85 (too small again?) he snap calls

River: ($320)A Big time scare card
BB checks and i think about checking back but i think if i bet i can get called by a KJ that i now beat or even a weaker King so i put i little wimpy $35 bet out there and raises me $115 on top

I have seen a c/r river bluff maybe 3-4 times ever at games like this and now it feels like he flopped a monster and just sat on it till now but what would you say i do call or fold?

Also a BR update i lost a couple a sessions in between post and made $244 at the above session

Thats what i was thinking when he didn't lead the river, as far as not getting carded i might have been a couple times but i have a good fake that i got for alchy so it gets me right in but its never really been a problem for me

What level do you play? Also how often do you go? Thx btw for the sub

It depends if the game you play in it deep or not. The games around LA are all restricted buy-in normally max 100-120 . In general tho, If you play a TAG style, rarely bluff and pick your spots well you will normally win. Just pay attention to players betting patterns because most ppl with bet the same way with the same hand EVERYTIME.

I haven't been in a while, work keeps me busy 6 days a week. I'll start going back in Dec/Jan. I play 1/3 and 2/3. We've probably met at some point...not that many people play there compared to other casinos.

When I start up again I'll be playing at the bike and vegas as much as possible, but I've been working my a** off at the moment.

thanks for the insight! yea i plan to not incorporate bluffs until i have a decent roll of 50 buyins or so. until then im going to play abc pretty much
