My challenge for the next 52 weeks: Putting in hours. My challenge for the next 52 weeks: Putting in hours.

Hello all,

I started the challenge 2 weeks ago, I think it's time to share it with you. I'm currently playing 4-6 table's, 6max 5NL & 10NL.

Before I started the challenge, I've studied a little to get myself going.
I took a one month membership on DeucesCracked, and tried to watch as many as possible. I've watched the following series: 8 Things Not to Do, Applied Game Theory, Mathematics of NL Holdem, Plus EVolution of Poker, Search and Destroy and Tolerance. I've also read some books, and I will continue to do so since that's part of my challenge. Books I've read so far are: The Poker Mindset by Ian Taylor & Matthew Hilger, Building a Bankroll by Verneer, Moving Through uNL by Verneer.

This books and videos helped me alot, and I'm happy to say that I've been playing solid for a couple of months now.
If you have any suggestions on books or videoseries, please share.

I'll be editing this first post to track my progress and show my graph.
Maybe I'll throw in some stats and comments if I feel the need to.
Feel free to ask anything, and wish me the best of luck.
I'll be updating this thread regulary. (~2 times a week.)

My goals for October 2013 - October 2014:
- Play 10k hands per week.
- Read 1 book every month.
- Post interesting hands.
- Building a bankroll and move up with good BR-management.

Hey man, nice thread and good luck with your challenges.

Would suggest you to put a little larger graph. 2+2ers luv giraffes

And talking about theoretical concepts it is more of a quality rather than quantity. In other words poker skills = understanding and applying theoretical poker concepts in practice up until perfection + poker mindset and bankroll management.
So it would be rather more useful to learn a poker concept per month rather than read a poker book, since books have a wide combination of concepts from beginning to advanced levels and some are really complex. Therefore it is important not only to read but to understand.

Good luck

Added a couple of thousand hands to the progress.
Some interesting hands from this sessions:

Hand 1
Villain is playing 17/19/1.5/11.1 on 23 hands.
I don't like to 4bet Queens, that's why I'm flatting the 3bet, hoping to hit a set or hit a flop like this.
After the flop, did I play it good? Or should I just XC instead of XR?
What do you guys think about my shove on the river?

    Hand 2
Villain is playing 29/19/1.3/10.4 on 210 hands.
    Fold3Bet : 0(5) FoldtoCbet: 25(12).

Was this call a good Hero call (based on his low FtoCbet and low Fold3Bet), and should I do this more often, or did I just got lucky?

      Comments:
Took a shot at 10NL with 6tables. (I normally play 5NL, sometimes a couple of 10NL tables) Didn't feel right, so got back to only 5NL.
I erased my goal of reading one book every month, instead I'm just gonna go studie some concepts and watch more on CardRunners.
