It's been a while since I've been on here. Made a few threads back in the day that didn't amount to much, but feel like I'm a better player now etc etc.

Fast forward to today... I binked a 4th place cash in the $33 KO $100k guarantee on Stars a few weeks ago for about $3.1k (with KO's) and then I shipped a daytime $5 KO $5k guarantee for like $800 (with KO's) a few days later.

I snap cashed out the vast majority and have exactly $150 left to play with, and so would like to try and run this up to $10k.

I am not going to set any rigorous BRM, but just gonna make sure I don't get out of line. To begin with, I'll be looking to play MTTs/MTT SNGs between $0.25 - $1.50 and then try and progress upwards in stakes. I'm not excluding cash or zoom but prefer tournament poker, so will largely focus on that.

As I said, I work full time, so will be looking at putting volume in during the weeknights and weekends.

Starting this thread to try and keep myself accountable. I fully intend to include any bonuses/rakeback/star coins etc to help me with the challenge.

I'll look to update semi frequently with graphs / pics / HH's and hopefully it'll be a laugh.

It'd be nice to have this wrapped up by September 9th, so I can take the wife away for her birthday. Gonna be tough to get there by then though.

I've logged my first session of the challenge. Decided to play last night, started about 10pm and played through to 3am - was so ****ing stupid as I was tired after having been in work all day and instantly regretted registering for a bunch of low limit MTTs.

Played maybe 20 games. Bricked a lot in the early stages and ended up 1-tabling a $1 reg speed 180-man between like 1am and 3am, needing to come 4th to finish the day on profit. Having not played these before, I had no idea how long they could last. I think it took 5 hours in the end as there was this Brazilian donk to my right who was obv using dial up internet and kept disconnecting every other hand.

Anyway, after going through stages of rage, impatience, existential crisis (i.e. why the **** am I awake at 3am for this BS), I made myself a coffee and ground out the win. 1st place was good for $49 and pushed the BR to $182.60.

Just woke up with a view to firing off a mini session, but Stars are doing some sort of server reset so gonna play Madden instead (Dolphins FTW).

Played a little yesterday morning and for most of the day today (wasn't at work). Made a deep run in a $1.10 6-max turbo and came 8th for like $14 or something (Shipped 8 bigs with 33 and lost the race v KQ) and didn't make much of a run in anything else.

The highlights of the day include hero calling with K7 v K6 AIPF v a Squeeze who was playing like 100/65/40 and the board running out AJ636.

I also made a friend from Mexico at one of the tables who I thought was hilarious. For any British readers/football fans - he was a massive West Ham fan. The chat went as follows:-

Mexico loved the pun. He busted 3 hands later by overplaying JTo for the third time in an orbit.

Grinded out a 4th place in a $1.50 KO as well as the 8th in the MTT and added a few min cashes. Ended up down about 20 bucks, but cashed in 1000 star coins for $10 (not sure if that was an EV use) and ended the session on $177.50. I also shipped a $27 Sunday Million Anniversary ticket so will look to register to one of those over the coming days as don't think I can refund for T$.

My HM2 reckons I played 35 games. LOL volume. Its all over the shop though, filtered to today's play with a view to posting a graph but it reckons I've won hundreds which is obv wrong. May have to go and read the FAQ unless any 2p2'er can tell me why I'm such a n00b.

Got a Conference Playoff game to win now on Madden. Hoping to make it to the Super Bowl and get Ajayi to 3000 rushing yards for the season.

Had a fun day yesterday. Lost literally everything I played in spectacularly, except went semi deep in a $1.10 Progressive KO and busted 18/2500 for like $12.

I was not in the right mindset to play at all. Went over the Mother in Law's to help wire a light into the bathroom. Now I'm no electrician, but its not ****ing difficult to put three wires in three holes right so I open up the light fitting and there's like 12 cables because whoever installed the electrics originally obv hated their life and cba to tidy it all up for the new home owner.

Anyway fast forward like 3 hours and there was no more natural daylight and despite 2 trips to B&Q for "parts" I couldn't do it so gave up. Obv this meant that I was really unfulfilled and annoyed so I fired up like 20 MTTs in a 2 hour period and just played like a total fish.

After busting the $1.10 progressive, I jumped into a 6-Max 50NL Zoom Game with my BR of like $140 (because that's what all sensible 28yr old adults do when faced with adversity) and get QQ third hand in. I open to $1.50 on Button, Blinds fold, Villain in MP pumps it to $5 and I flat. Board comes Q46 rainbow (one club). MP checks, I lead for $7. He insta-calls. Turn comes 9c. I lead for $17. He ships and has me covered and I think to myself I have the nuts what the **** is he doing so I obv call. He has KJcc, binks the flush on the river and its gg Chris.

I reload and manage to build back up to about $90 and then get it in three-way with 99 on a T9T board against AA and AT. I hold one-time and ship a pot for around $260. I smash out a giant fist pump in my living room at 3am and snap sit out, refresh my cashier balance and say to myself "never again you tilt monkey".

I've just regged for the Milly (jokes).

Decent Sunday grind for me. 2-tabled, then 4-tabled some 10NL zoom and ran hotter than a lava lamp in a volcano inside a giant clay pizza oven powered by the sun.

Won like 11 BI's.

Then came like 2000th or something in the Storm for about $25.

BR is at $394.59

I also have like 1450 star coins (mostly from yesterday's stupid stint at 50NL zoom) so will need to work out what to do with those. Still not sure what the most +EV decision is here, i.e. convert to cash or tourney tickets. Any ideas 2p2?

Hell of a first week. Not a good advert for BRM (but hey, shout out for self-awareness right?).

This thread has been a bit all over the place so will need to sit down and think about the best games for my roll / available time.

I treat shot taking as a prize for working hard and building up my roll to the proper level. That helps me stay disciplined and not take random shots at high games when I haven't earned it.

Regarding the Stars coins, it doesn't matter how you spend them, they're all worth the same value anyway so you might as well just take the cash.

It's just a shame the VIP rewards are so **** compared to what they used to be

Update time...

Played like a 45 min session of 100z 6-max (1 tabled) on Sunday evening and ran like Usain Bolt. Got AA v KK all in twice for stacks and won both. Also checked back a turn to river 2 pair v a guy w/KK who played it so bad and got his stack as well.

BR is at $639!!

Time to take this more seriously now though as I want to be more than just a fish on a heater.

After thinking over my grinding options I've decided to play two types of sessions depending on my availablity.

Gonna grind 16NLz (3/4 tables) for short sessions (up to 3 hours) and gonna grind MTTs / MTT SNGs ($4.50 180 mans / MTTs up to $5 with the odd bigger buy in here and there) for longer sessions (up to 9/10 hours). I'm hoping that the mixture between the two will keep me fresh and motivated.

I think the $4.50 180s are the nuts for my sized BR. An outright win is worth around 49/50 buyins. They just don't load all that quickly so will look to beef out with MTTs and maybe $3.50 MTT SNGs. I will do my best to stick to an average buyin of $3-$3.50 for now to prevent going busto. I shall also drop to 10NLz if BR goes below $500.

For the week ahead, I would like to complete the following:

[ ] 10k hands at 16NLz (4bb/100 winrate - is this sample size too small to be viable without heat?)
[ ] Minimum of 50 MTTs/ MTT SNGs (ROI 5%)
[ ] Make a Final Table of an MTT / MTT SNG with 180 runners+
[ ] Post 5 Hands in 2p2 Forum to discuss / check lines
[ ] DON'T PLAY OUT OF BANKROLL LIMITS

I accept that number 3 might be tough to achieve with such a small sample but it is a PG and C thread after all.

Hey guys it has been a while since my last update. Apologies.

Basically I lost like 7 BIs at 16NL and then went on a tilt rage playing out of my BR and ending up back where I started - $150 (this reads like a **** version of Rounders - insert John Malkovic gif here).

Took some time away and jumped back in over the weekend of 15/16th and ended up chopping the $11 4-Max on Stars for $577 and change which was nice.

Didn't post a great session last weekend however, bricking pretty much everything, so the BR sits around $450 currently. Hoping to play a few mini SCOOPS this coming weekend and will look to post a more meaningful update soon.
