I really really love the new structures on partypoker. Ante's from the start, lots of play but doesn't feel too slow either. I guess you could argue avg stack sometimes tends to get a bit shallow near the end, def in the 22s (since they have 12 min levels) but I also think that's the nature of today's mtt's. People being more aware of payjumps, icm, stalling etc but yeah in general great tournaments. I try to play all the 22fo's with a 5k+ gtd, usually lateregging a bunch of them though since they are at the bottom end of my buy in range.

Yesterday I started playing around 19 cet, and I played on partypoker:

55 ko
109 ko
109 weight in
55 counterpunch
3x 22 powerfest, of which one was a turbo bounty
109 uppercut

All great regspeed tournaments, and much better imho than lots of tournaments on pokerstars right now

Made a post wrt that 'collusion' hand in party thread, waiting for an answer. Tbh, the more I think about it, the more I think he really had like 5 high and just didn't want to show and thought it wouldn't make a difference, however if that's the case villain should still receive a warning imo. Rest of play at the final table between them, seemed pretty normal to me though.

Cleared about half of my make up in two sessions, goes without saying this feels pretty damn good. This really feels as if it's achieveable again compared to the pile a few months ago, where motivation was low etc. I feel as if I've found some new love for the game again. Sure this may sound cheesy/easy when you also bink a few tournaments but lately I've really enjoyed the grind. I have been very focused on making the right decisions ingame, and I'm markings tons of hands every session, running spots afterwards in piosolver, wanting to know the 'correct' answer so I can apply it the next time I'll be put in that spot.

Speaking of an interesting spot, this one was the most remarkable of yesterday's session. Villain is 'Egor6999' whom I believe is a member of Bitb now.

Wtf do you teach these kids padsie? I came across a similar spot a few weeks ago, where I was left in uncertainty against another bitb player, so please stop teaching them ^^ Perhaps I could up my sizing a little as an exploit, but I dno, seems ok to me.

We rekt the presentation this morning as well, so all good. Will return to the felt on sunday, then maybe maybe play a small session next week, and play a half-long sunday bc first exam is already 24th may. GL at the tables guys and thx for all the support.

Meh got a pretty ambigious feeling about today's session. I played absolutely amazing, apart from a few decisions around peak hour where I somewhat felt rushed into some decisions, but seriously apart from those 5/10 hands maximum, I think I played close to the best of my capabilities. Build tons of stacks. Was huuuge chipleader on ft in a semi-bowl on stars (well bowl it was 3.5k 1st and I had 2.2 mil in bb16k) but somehow managed to go from 1/9 to 5th after quite some annoying consecutive hands. However, 5th for 1k wasn't that bad and still had lots of potential. Cashed warmup again, got 20th 33r on stars, but stars wouldn't be stars if they wouldn't have saved the best for last.

109 bounty builder last 20 for chiplead, unlucky mate. obviously can't really complain after the recent heat, however still pretty annoying to lose all my high equity showdowns on sunday so far this year. doug polk said it so well on recent podcast with joey. 'tournaments make you care about flips' and it is so true. Like if you have a 10k equity flip, you either run 5k above ev, or 5k below ev, and these spots don't occur that often. oh well, on to the next one. can't complain much though after having a +20k month so far.

might post some hands tmrw, and react to comments then as well. for now i'll leave you with my ev bb/100 graph for today. pretty sick

have had worst months for sure will study super hard for school next week. it's the hardest course of my bachelor study, and I failed it last year as well, so gonna spent a LOT of time studying. Hopefully will be well prepared in order to play a half-long session next sunday then. Exam is 24th may (tuesday) so gonna skip quite a few tournaments, perhaps play a early-afternoon session then. We will see. Peace out

Cool hand too, I want to 3bet quite lineair in this spot, so I picked a smaller sizing pre. Think half pot is good on flop, not much else we can do besides calling his x/r this deep. decided to check back turn, which is fine I guess. River is cool, was thinking hard about a good sizing, but I thought he was more likely to x/r backdoor flushdraw with high cards, and went for a super small sizing to induce. Worked out well, he x/r rather fast and I snapped him off. Felt good hehe. Next orbit, I got a walk from him and we didn't really played a lot of big pots anymore after that.

Another interesting hand, this one was at the ft of the 22sko on stars. Not really sure what to do on river. Felt that I wanted to jam with my range, however this one was a tad too weak to valuebet for an all-in size, so I picked a slightly smaller size, bc I thought there was still value in being herocalled quite a lot. This one is vs ajarov on party, could obv flat pre as well, but want to 3b quite lineair again. have to peel the 4b & call flop imho. perhaps betting turn super small is a good play too. discussed it with my backer who thought it was fine.

Squuezed in a small session yesterday, got absolutely rekt. didn't play very well, was overconfident in some spots, took some ambitious lines and ran pretty bad to top it off. reviewed all the marked hands, but turned out I hadn't played as bad as I thought. Good reality check though, it's not bc I've studied and improved lots lately, it's impossible to have big losing sessions still. Back to the analytical accounting grind now though. Really want to pass that course this year. I am going to do lots of studying today, tmrw and hopefully play a late evening session (starting from 19 cet or something) on sunday then. Sleep schedule is ****ed either way, and can put in quite a lot of study hours before 19 cet still. Will skip the 2 day events though, bc I can't afford not being able to study on monday given my exam is on tuesday. Best of luck at the tables

started playing @19 cet, played 'everything' which was not a 2+ day tournament. ran very bad throughout, lost basically all the 'key' pots however we found a mincash in the 1k on party I took a shot in. Had an above avg stack there, until I lost tt vs jj in a blind vs blind battle for a 330k stack in bb5k, was then left with a 20bb stack, lost another flip and then stalled myself pretty gto itm. So GTO h4h started when I was in the sb. Anyway, busted pretty quickly afterwards at < qq but was pretty satisfied with the mincash to save my session really. Have been studying very hard for my upcoming exam, really hoping to pass it this time. Breakeven'ish sunday, I'll take it. Gl to all the heroes still batteling it out.

Hey, just flicked through the thread and enjoyed it.

Thoughts on balancing MTTs with school. I start an engineering degree in september and not sure how I'm going to be balancing my time..

I guess just get everything out of the way for Sunday? :/ Maybe play mttsngs during free weekday evenings.

Seems so hard to get any kind of decent sample, don't really want to be going through 50-100game/month volume.

Well, to be fair I'm not your regular student, so wouldn't trust my judgement on this very much. I tend to skip a lot of classes, and then go pretty mental for +- 2 months (1 month preparation/1 month of taking exams and this twice a year) Basically during these months, I play zero poker, or I might fire a sunday session if my next exam is at wednesday or later. I think I avg 50-100 games a month during these months.

It's def hard not being able to play full-time, and yeah, volume is def lacking because of it. I tend to play 3/4 times a week in those off-peak months (wrt school) and I am avging about 300-500 games in a month then. Imho, it is important to have some kind of structure in your head wrt what days you will be playing. This is something I've only recently realised, but if you have a 'schedule' in your head, you tend to be more focussed and trying to give it your all. I used to just play whenever I felt like doing so, and this included like late regging a bunch of tournaments at 21 cet etc, missing out on a lot of good tournaments, which obv was very suboptimal. So yeah, my advise would be try to figure out a few days you'll be regulary playing during the months you don't have to study very much, and mainly focus on your studies during the exams.

I try not to skip a sunday indeed. I don't know about the state of mttsngs, I think they are quite dead actually. If you were to have an early class in the next morning, I would advise you to either not play or start your session earlier if that's possible (play off-peak maybe?)

It obv depends on a lot of factors, just try to find a good balance between attending classes/putting in volume/take time off to enjoy life. I know, sounds easier than it is. I am still trying to figure it out myself In the end, you'll just have to live with it you are only able to put in as much volume as you do, bc you are not a full-time player. Therefore downswings can be cruel, bc in time it can feel like ages, but in games it is not that bad actually. Hence why you should try to optimize every session you play.

For what it's worth, first exam went pretty well today. I was able to fill in all questions, now let's hope the answer were sufficient. Felt like I understood the dynamics much better compared to last year, so hopefully we'll pass that one. 5 more to go, next one is on saturday (Corporate finance). No poker whatsoever until then. Might play a session on sunday.

Ok, taking a few days of the study grind. Already took the two hardest exams, so it should only get 'easier' from here on. Reviewed a latestage handistory from that_anom_pgc and to me it's really cool to notice the similarities in our game. there were a few spots I dind't fully agree on, but these were like small things in general. He hit me up around summer last year, and I really believe both our games have progressed heaps since then. It was at a time a lot of people whom I usually was talking poker with, didn't really care for strategy and were blaming variance etc, so yeah big shoutout to him. Also went over my own 1k tournament from last sunday, think I played pretty well in general. Passed up on a few spots I could have opened, but it's pbb not even a big mistake when you have much more decent players than usual at your table. I'm in a very good place right now wrt poker and eagerly looking forward to tmrw's session.

Let's see if we can end this month with another bang.

These hands annoy me super hard though, especially because it's on stars. We flop the world, and eventually end up loosing half our stack. I mean, it sure has to be possible we hit our (disguised) flush just for once, or villain just decides to give up, or we spike two pair or whatever. I mean, it seems like I always lose these keypots deep on stars.

Hey fellas, sup. Made a brief comeback at the virtual tables. Had to skip sunday bc of school. Build tons of stacks, played really well for the most part. Had one giant punt in the uppercut, but apart from that I can't really recall any huge mistakes. Ran as usual on pokerstars (ergo brickcity) however ran quite hot on partypoker to make up for that. Took 4th in a 109 on party. Went in as chipleader, so slightly dissapointed however very pleased with my performance at that final table. Don't think I could have played much better. Also fired two bullets in that GPT phase timbey on party. First bullet was good for 170k stack. Was a pleasant surprise blinds were being reversed to 2/4k instead of the 4/8k. Made a small run there, but eventually lost two huge pots against the whales of the table, so that was that. Chopped the counterpunch with 2 other regs to finish the session. Stacks were pretty even and quite deep, and we didn't really care too much about the few extra hundred to play on for an hour or more. Ended up about +2k for the session, so things could def have been worse.

3 more exams to go, normally relatively easier than the first 3.

Listened to maggie rogers during my whole session. That anom_pgc sent this youtube clip to me, where Pharrel williams is giving his notes on a few promising musicians. Such a nice clip and such a good song. Note: it is not finalised yet.

Starting from +- 18.20. Pharrel seems like a nice guy. It's such a nice, heartwarming clip. <3

Ha played my first session in a while since exams are finally over. Quite satisfied with my performance over most of them. Results are in a week. Was a bit rusty in a few spots today, mostly not acting quick enough, or being distracted by some other things. Played quite well though. Had a small ft on stars to semi-save the day, and also cashed the b109 for the first time in ages. Also had a chatty encounter with lipo in the b109, which was fun too. He sure has much more heart than I do, playing 8 different sites, and being able to chat and all. Oh well, small loosing day, i'll take it. Had a ridicilous spot at the final table towards the end of my session fwiw.

In other news, I've been very annoyed by my computer recently. Bought it in 2011 (which was an absolute beast back then), so I guess I had it coming. Computer is crashing more regulary lately, and also after the crash occurs, it's not able to reboot itself. The power button seems to be bugged, and I have to remove the power cable a few times, and then hopefully it starts to run again. Pbb gonna buy a new one very soon, since those crashes tilt the **** out of me.

Tmrw it's our 3rd game against Sweden, so obv not playing. Might play on thursday again, but not sure yet. Most likely skipping friday & saturday, but def back on sunday.

Just watched the final episode of person of interest. I don't even know how I got into the show (it was already nearing the end of season 1) and usually I don't care for sci-fi at all, but this was just something else. Every season was just awesome, and it kept getting better and better. The story has unfolded itself in ways I couldn't even imagine when I first started watching, and the characters evolved so much, this absolutely is one of my favourite shows ever. The acting, dialogues, the compelling plotlines, absolutely gonna miss this but also very satisfied with the season finale. Don't think they could have wrapped it up much better, considering the time they only had (13 episodes in their last season instead of the usual 22). Would recommend it to anyone, even when you are not much of a sci-fi guy. Well, tbh it's not all sci-fi, it feels like it balances well between 'reality' and sci-fi.
