Allright day. Rewatched the downswing seminar from Elliot Roe I attended last year before my session, and I played really well (ran pretty well too so it's ez to confuse those) and was very happy with my attitude during the session too. I ran like **** in the end stages but that's alright. Cashed a few of my higher buy ins, and took 3rd in the end in a bowl on ipoker for 800eu, which was a non turbo that started at 930 pm, showing a lot of heart for sure. played 38 mtt's and up about a thousand, I'll take it I guess. I really have the feeling that some things are starting to click, and I've been doing a lot of different stuff lately which has been working much better than compared to what I previously did. It's all about staying ahead of the curve in the end. Might be me just running a bit better compared to last year though, time will tell us.

Watched a super cool TED Talk before my session as well, I really like those ted talks, they are short and yet so powerful.

lol just 1 tabled for 5 hours due to party ****ing up their powerfest series and restarting a non turbo event with 20m levels at 1030 pm. So much fun busting pretty close to itm, fortunately I had House of cards to keep me entertained. Currently at ep 9, bingewatching it pretty hard. Pretty uneventful day by the way, ran bad, only 3 cashes or whatever. Was pretty tilted by party's **** up, which happened around 915 pm, and then was pretty much oi. played out my tables, and then party decided to re-run the event while I only had like 2 tables left zzz. Lost about the amount I won yesterday, awesome. Taking tmrw off, most likely doing some stuff for school, maybe go for a small bike ride, and then relax in the evening. Back at it for the weekend on saturday then.

Ha, didn't feel like playing at first. I have this feeling a lot after I immediately return from the gym. Contemplated playing a live highroller just cross-border in france, but was afraid field was gonna be kinda small and it wasn't worth the travel time, and potentially missing sunday. After I sorted that out, I started playing around 8pm. Played allright. Had tons of fun in the 109bb, really hunting dem bounties hard (like isolating a shove from a shorty with j2s from utg3 etc) but then lost a few unfortunate pots, not much I could do. Meanwhile I already had punted a 1/11 stack to 10/10, eventually finished 8th in that one. Punt was whatever imho, can do it sometimes, could give up sometimes too. At the end of my session I caught some heat on stars (apparently that's possible) and finished 2nd in a late night turbo. Couldn't close hu vs fun player, he ran too good basically. Also finished 20th-something in a big, will get them at some time, busthand was somewhat debatable maybe, might be biased because of results though. Anyway, all this netted me a +1400, which I am fairly happy with obviously, since it covers quite a lot of my sunday expenses. Let's go tmrw, also qualified for the first time in ages for phase2, usually I am too lazy to play these phases LOL.

Aren't those bounty builders amazing? Plan was to x/shove myself, then yolocalled it off.

busthand big

Intradesting one. Didn't feel much for gii with this particular hand, leading turn is a viable option, maybe best I dno. meh.

GL all tmrw lads!

Edit: Almost forgot to mention I finished house of cards, and it was ****ing amazing. Much much better than past season.

zzzzz ****ing sundays. -1600 gg. bricked the warmup and millie for the 318818818149th time in a row. Hate the DST schedule on stars, and apparently nigdawg really hates me since he spited me in 109fo with 58 left (54 itm) I shoved 11bigs in sb, he called t9s in bb with only 14bb himself. not sure if spite or just a moron who doesn't give a ****. will slowroll the **** out of him though when I get the chance. That call just costs us both so much money. was oi after that call, just played my tournaments out.

Worst regplay of the day goes to leopeluca by the way. vaamoos argentinia.

****ing sundays (since new db - begin sept) pbb down about 40-50 lifetime. ridicilous really. profit max 1k, loose 10k afterwards, and repeat. geez.

Ok honest post incoming. Poker is such a though game, especially mentally. Being a mtt player in 2016 sucks. Variance is becoming bigger & bigger, downswings lasting longer and longer etc. Not gonna lie, this month is quite disappointing. Ran ok for the first part of the month, but by missing out on a big score (5k+) profits remained pretty small. Then I started to run a bit worse again, bricking 4-5 sessions pretty hard and we are back to ground zero. What frustrates me the most I guess, is not being able to get a big score for such a long time, even though I fire almost daily 1k+ in buy-ins. In fact, this downswing (it’s not even a downswing so far) compared to other ones I’ve experienced is just very small. It’s really the load of missing out on a big score which is bothering me the most. As I said in an earlier post, my poker career for the last 18 months is pretty much: “win small, loose big”. So every time I have the feeling I am picking up some momentum, I get crushed in big equity spots. It’s mentally so tough to cope with it sometimes, given for how long this has been going on. I have a friend who went through something similar last year, then bang bang, in one month he binks 2 timbeys and is up 150k. MTT’s are just ridiculous really.

I’ve also decided to cut my table count to 9, since I sometimes felt rushed during peak hours and I want to make sure I get every spot right during these rough times. Crushed EV yesterday, got crushed in the latter stages unfortunately. Just a few more days, and I’ll be then taking a one week-off in Tenerife. Looking forward to take my mind of poker for a full week to be honest.

“Fun” hand of the day:

Villain is fresh_ood, I think he perceives me as some kind of midstakes reg but I might be off. Super super super weird turn & river bet. I am not sure whether Jx or Ax is a better calling hand, but running a bluff here seems like suicide, given the amount of AQ/AK I’ll have/perceivably have. I expected this turn to go check/check like pretty much always. Also when I x/c turn again, I think I’ve got rid of most of my pocket pairs already, so he’s really trying to fold out a very strong range. I don’t know it’s fresh_ood still, but this felt like such an exploitable shove with like AJ/AA (only valuehands he could have, right??). I think AQ/AK is a better calling hand then, given we block both. I think I am at least perceived to have quite a lot of Ax, so he should really bluff this at a low frequency given pop tendencies. Our particular hand, with the king of spades, seems like an ok’ish calling hand, since we don’t block backdoor fd’s like KQhh, KQcc, KQdd, etc on the other hand. Meh, still really unsure.

Pretty standard imho, but cool nevertheless. Max value.

Gonna hit the gym, then play a session again. MTD 372 mtt’s, will be very close whether or not I’ll make my goal of 500 mtt’s. Have been slacking a bit lately due to some ‘unexpected’ schoolwork hehe.

@Sokkz: meh, my rythm is ****ed up atm. It also conflicts with eurosites, where times haven't changed.

By the way, I hope you don't mind the ' negative' posts too much. I for one really find those interesting in other blogs, as long as you find a good balance. Most bloggers quit blogging when they run bad, but I want my blog to be a projection of what the life of an mtt player really is. Will try to balance it well though, since last ones are a bit too much maybe. I've going back and forth on the kjo hand vs fresh, I'm still unsure. Its hard bc everything we do is based on assumptions, and if that is off, your whole calculation collapses too. Ran it in piosolver and obv pio prefered betting over checking flop, but since it was fresh, I thought adding some tarps would be fine. Interestingly enough, If I locked kj as a check in pio, it almost always prefered x/r over x/c. Food for thought hehe. Still in the gym, will start session somewhat later.

Edit: river pio thought kj was a meh calling hand since it gave villain kq as his most often used combo. I'd guess bc it blocks mine ak/aq. If I look at combos on the other hand, fresh really has few value combos and only needs to bluf a few to make it a call already.

Ha I am done playing for the month, taking a well-earned week of and quite frankly I kinda need it. According to pt4, I've played 16/21 days this month. Month started out well, got wrecked in the end though. Played ok'ish this month, had a few meh'ish sessions, but would give me like a 7 maybe 7.5 for the month. Liking the 9 tabs max approach so far, so will keep that up for a bit I guess. 12 tabling around peak hour is sometimes really busy, and then I end up folding like K9s on hijack/cutoff sometimes because it's early and I have a lot of aciton going on etc. Those doesn't seem like too much of a mistakes (and pbb aren't) but still hurts EV. Also reviewed with fellow 2+2'er 'card core' today. Was interesting, we went over a handhistory, or at least the first part of it, and it was a productive review overall. I've got some things to think about definitely, and I hope he took away something from it too hehe. Sunday was meh, went through some computer troubles as well, but apparently I have to play more on my phone since I sunrunned pretty hard during that short time I played on my phone on stars. Anyway, ended up making a small'ish run in b109, but AA<AK for top 3 stack, and some other annoyances stopped my run eventually. Whatever, used to it by now. Fired 2 bullets in the millie, bricked them twice too.

Mtt's are so weird though. I've had like 5/6 good shots at having 5 fig scores, and getting one, would have given me a 10k+ month pbb. Everything is so ****ing relative in tournaments, it's laughable.

Winrate could have been better. Definitely ran bad for the 2nd part of the month, so that didn't help it either. So let's recap the goals.

[X] Go to the gym 3/week Close at least, maybe went twice one week, but made a bike ride then.
[ ] 500 games Fail, played a few half-long sessions which killed it. also playing 9 tabs max towards the end didn't help this either. still pretty satisfied with 428 mtt's in 3 weeks tho.
[ ] EV bb/100 overall >7 Fail, 5bb/100.
[ ] EV bb/100 post ante >5 Fail, 4bb/100.

I got rekt pretty bad on stars again, so that basically screwed the last 2 goals imho. Some pictures/giraffes.

Overall winrate
Post-ante winrate
Stars winrate
Month results

I guess that's it for now. Leave on wednesday for tenerife.

Biggest one was about 25k. Well, 25k 'straight' at least. I think we passed it with sunday's session now. So yeah around 25k-26k on ABI 30-35, pretty sickening but what can you do. Whole downswing is caused by stars (even more LOL bc I've won some money back on eurosites). Maybe I am just too bad for stars who knows?

Oh well, hope you enjoyed this. Cya next week.

well that was an eventful morning. went to bed at like 4am, got woken up at 11am by my parents telling me there have been terroristic attacks in brussels (airport + subway). checked my phone and obv my friend (who still was in the states) who i'm going with was flying home tonight, his flight got cancelled. so long story short, had to cancel the original flight, booked a new one, and we leave from amsterdam instead of brussels tmrw. pretty ****ing shocked by this news. obv I felt bad for what happened in Paris, but this feels yet so much closer. It's a ****ed up world we currently live in, and I can't imagine a quick resolution for this mess. What a sad day.

Amazing solodarity in Brussels. Faith in humanity restored, at least for a little bit.

Hey, sup everybody? Had an awesome holiday in Tenerife. We did a lot of bike riding & some relaxing in the afternoons. Weather was nice, somewhat windy sometimes, but in general very good. Because my friend had over 1000km's in the legs already, while I only had 150, I struggled lots during the first days. However, I progressed pretty fast and towards the end of the week I was at an ok'ish level. We did 400km's, had 10k height metres in just 5 days of bike riding. We also went up to the 'famous' El Teide vulcano, which was the longest climb I've ever did. Starting from the bottom, it was over 50km's of climbing, as we went from sea level to 2400 metres. Had a pretty good day fortunately, and only finished +- 10 minutes behind my friend after a 4 hour long climb.

Amazing view just a few km's before we reached the top. At least, the 'reachable' top bc there was a cable lift to get you up from 2400m to 3500m.

Some more beauty shots.

Poker-wise I'm in a weird place atm. Make-up is highest ever, motivation is pretty low, and I have a lot of stuff for school coming up as well. First exam is within 6 weeks, and I have done **** so far. Pbb will have to start studying within one of the next weeks. It's weird but good I guess, but I didn't miss poker for one second during my holiday, and I believe this is like the first time since ever. I don't know what I am going to do to be honest. I feel like there are plenty of other things I want to pursue at the moment, and grinding hard isn't just one of them at the moment. Might feel different in a few weeks, but I sincerely doubt it to be honest. Only gonna play if I really really really feel like doing so, and obviously on sundays, bc all the money is there. Will try to keep my game sharp by reviewing a bunch though in order to be well prepared for upcoming scoop. scoop will be interesting, pbb gonna 4/6 table max bc of the amount of study I'll have to do. I guess time will tell us.

In other news, I've played a live cashgame session on saturday, and I've managed to win my biggest pot live as well. Only needed a 2 outer, after getting it in with KK vs AA & another unknown hand to scoop the 1800eu pot. Skillgame much. Still pretty much hate live cashgames though, they are just so booooring in general. Might play some more in the future though. The prospect of actually earning some money with poker in contrast to mtt's now is worth it I guess.

Played a relatively small session yesterday. Bricked most of it, a few mincashes, a few semi-deep runs, the usual stuff. I rekt a reg pretty bad on Ipoker though, even after having zero timebank due to an earlier computer crash

not sure wtf he was doing though.

Going to pursue a lot of cycling, trying to hit the gym 3 times a week, and try to get in a reasonable shape. Playing with the idea of driving up to the ventoux/stelvio in July/august/september and smashing my personal record on one of these mountains. Might even do some kind of cycling holiday again in the Dolomites/Alps during summer or whatever, not sure but would like to have a goal if I'm going to do a lot of bike riding. Really looking forward to it though, especially with the weather getting better and better now.

That's about it for now, thanks for bearing with my rambling again.
