So yesterday was like my first session in over a month. Overall I felt like I played pretty well. Had quite some semi-deep runs but wasn't very lucky in the endstages. Was about breakeven and also cashed the 530 wcoop which I had sold a bunch for, so was slightly up. Lost a 60bb flip at bb14k unfortunately, but nevertheless a cash and I feel good moving forward. Spent about 3 hours in the lab today already, analyzing some hands I marked from yesterday's session. Gonna take a quick break, and then start firing again at 17CET.
Ugh weird session. Didn't get much going first part of the grind, eventually ran up some stacks. Found myself sitting in decent positions in both 11r and 33bb. Then lost chiplead flip qq vs ak in 11r, while meanwhile I lost set vs overpair in 33bb also for chiplead (both last 30'ish) However I ran up my ante in the 11r and i'm coming back tmrw as 11/15 with 26k uptop. Meanwhile I was absolutely sunrunning the 33bb, was comfortably 1/4 and then ended up in a series of unfortunate hands where it felt like I played it bad but at same time I didn't, was so weird. Ripped my AK into KK for the bigger remainder of 30bigs in the end, but the hands down here were more crucial
ugh, pbb should size up turn a little bit though. was trying to exploit him for being the sticky villain he is, and it sort of backfired? I dno lol hand
Should overbet first hand OTT. K2s is the only sure two pair in his range at that point. Also sets up a better SPR OTR. The turn is the street where you need to max punish his weak range and deny him equity. OTR he will have way easier decisions even against bigger bets. Also his hand is a fold OTT so even from an exploit pov you need to bet bigger.
77 hand should be bet bigger on both streets since it's effectively the nut overpair but also the most vulnerable one. In these spots you're always supposed to bomb it and sigh call off. Fold is obv a huge exploit.
T9 way too wide of a flop raise in theory but probably pretty good in practice vs villains who over cbet.
^disagree strongly with 77, how is it the nut overpair? It is the most vulnerable one though like you say so it makes sense to go biggish otf but I think turn it's fine to pick a sizing that just about sets up a riverjam and not go bigger because we're targetting a weak range to x/c us (like 56,55,54,A4 etc) and those might just sighfold if we bomb and we end up letting him continue with a range that has us crushed. Folding to the turn x/r is not an exploit at all imo but very standard as we are low in our range, have no relevant blockers and population is pretty nutted when they take this line especially at a FT vs the chipleader
One might say so. Relaxed for a little bit, then fired an evening session. Didn't even play bad, but bricked hard and lost about 1k. We ran some glorious bluffs though, some of them which got through, some of them which didn't.
This was in 530, nh mate. Also this is like the only river I'll bluffshove since it seems a good balance for my valuerange on a non-club runout. Managed to make a decent comeback after this hand, only to lose aa < ak in the end. <3
friend of mine convinced me to reg the 22 6max powerfest REGSPEED from 23 CET. Ofcourse there were gonna be punts, although this one wasn't that bad except for flopraise perhaps which is on the loose side. This was vs reg actually, guess he was oi by then too. Ul I found a bluf mate. May he have long continued after this hand
Have to admit. Having made two pretty big final tables with almost 40k up top, and only get like 5k out of it, it was once again devastating. Especially if you see how both final tables played out. Was like 1/4 in 33bb with almost 2x 2nd stack and get 4th, and then easily lost another 5-7k in ev in that tt < at hand in the wcoop low (the guy with the at obv won the timbey, while this sd was essentially for his timbey life too). I dno, at least we are making final tables now, aren't we? Taking the day off. Maybe play early session on saturday, and then play evening session on sunday since I've got to attend a birthday party first. Have great confidence in my game which is evidenced by many deep runs. Thought I played extremely well yesterday in that wcoop low thing, but in the end winning showdowns moderate important aspect of mtt poker.
Almost forgot. My perhaps all-time favourite band 'the national' released their new album this week, and it once again is amazing. Also gonna see them next month in Amsterdam, should be great. The consistency in their work is insane, def goat indie band ainec

Reason: btw fu lurkers, lately been thinking of quiting this blog
Didn't lose too much since I mincashed the 530 milly. Not much other runs, semi deep runs in b33 & 22 powerfest but not much else really. Started around 9pm though, so happy with the limited damage.
Also it's been a long time we had something to brag about so
Played sessions both monday and yesterday. On monday had several deep runs but they fizzled out in the end. Made a few (small) mistakes deep in party 109 6max which really left me dissapointed and angry at myself. Jumped into the lab on tuesday, and spent like over 12hrs+ analyzing a certain spot within excel (aggregrated reports from piosolver). Since i'm pretty analytical minded, I really enjoy studying poker this way and browsing through all the various trees and comparing EV's etc was super insightful. Jotted down the most important conclusions and played another evening session yesterday. Again ran up quite some stacks, and felt pretty confident throughout with my renewed knowledge. Fired the 530 wcoop and managed to make day 2 with 17 big blinds. Let's see if we can spinn that one up. Was gonna play another session today, but think I'll just one table the 215 6max & then day 2 and then go from there. Have to say I feel super confident in early stages of tournaments now, which is not really a surprise since most of the work I've done the past couple of months is on slightly bigger stacksizes. I feel like I have a decent grasp of how the spot looks in theory, and can conveniently deviate where necessary to exploit population etc
So that one was so dissapointing my morale dropped below zero and couldn't bring up playing a session afterwards. Fortunately I only had registered the 6max at that point, which I bricked fairly soon after that hand so I took the night off. Today I'm putting in some more stuyding. I've found a really good approach to stuyding certain spots in Excel, and on top of that I really enjoy it too. At this point, there's just one thing on my mind that is driving me right now and it is clearing that damn make up. I've come close a couple of times, have had numerous shots but always fell short. I've thought about it a billion times at this point. How nice it would be to have cleared a 1000 abi downswing, how relieved I would be, how proud I would feel, how all the hours I put in the past couple of years actually were worth something. At this point I'm determined to study every spot I feel uncomfortable with ingame. I really enjoy knowing the answers (and also the logic) behind certain spots, and being able to scoop a pot you know you wouldn't have if you didn't study is just so damn satisfying. I don't think its mere a coincidence I've had a lot of deep runs and was able to cash a lot of my higher buy ins as well this month. I genuinely feel more comfortable than ever even at those buy in levels. Results have been ok although I sold quite a bit for 530s. Two days of recharging and then two more decent grinds on sunday and monday. Then it's off to dublin to play some live pokerz. Passed my two other exams btw, so in theory only have to rework my thesis and hand it in january and I can graduate. Exploring my options now what to do in the meantime. xoxo
River:(185,600, 2 players) A Hero checks, MP+1 bets 261,050 and is all-in, Hero calls 261,050
MP+1 shows T T (Full House, Tens full of Aces)
(Pre 78%, Flop 70%, Turn 82%) Hero shows 6 7 (Flush, Ace High)
(Pre 22%, Flop 30%, Turn 18%) MP+1 wins 707,700
A+ troll again pokerstars making me one tabling this 55bb for hours just to bust at 5am (y)
Maybe I'm little results oriented, but what worse hands does V has otr? Do you think shoves AJ+ ?
I mean giving his stats his prob a monkey , but still, I think I fold (people are really greedy in this spots , esp recs)
Gg tho and gl in the future !
Sure we are not thrilled about it, but I don't think we can ever fold a flush + fh blocker vs random aggro unknown who on top of that has a big bounty. Just one of those spots where you sigh and have to call I guess, but hey what do I know?
If we are analyzing hands I thought this one was much more interesting vs reg
Flop bet bigger and turn is a clear as day bet. You're playing this spot way too passively and letting BB realize too much equity if you check back such a strong hand OTT. BB still has literally every pair and every draw in his range and it's not like the Q benefits him in any particular way. River obviously a snap call as played.

Cool thanks. I agree with most of what you are saying although flop as a general strat I like half pot'ish better with our entire range we are willing to bet, however given we opened from the button as well we don't have a big/if any nut disadvantage so I can get behind betting bigger too since we also have all the 2pair+. Ingame I felt like on the turn I would want to bet big with my strong hands and check some hands back, so decided to flick this one into my checking range. Having analyzed the spot better now I think sizing down (of what I had in mind) is actually a pretty nice strategy so we can bet like maybe JT+ on turn or something for value and it's a turn he doesn't often x/jams either and its important to get value from all his pair+draws & weaker tx so yeah in hindsight I like betting better. River I agree pretty easy call, too bad people never bluf. Fwiw pio was pretty indifferent on turn with KTo (was like half/half betting and checking and EV's very similar)
One thing to keep in mind about mixed strategies is that they are only mixed at equilibrium. In reality since no one is playing equilibrium one of the options will be superior. As you said people really don't like to bluff rivers, so it becomes very important to tax them on turns. My guess is that in the solver solution most of the EV of checking back KT comes from BB bluffing and making thin value bets, both of which most likely don't happen nearly enough in practice.
