What up!
My plan was to wright down my goals and mental struggles regarding playing poker. So I figured I can also make a blog about it to give myself a little bit of extra motivation to do it right.
A little background:
I'am 22 years old and live in the Netherlands. Earlier this year I finished college and now I'am working a job for 20 hours a week. I also do work at home as I'am living on a farm.
I don't like my job though, it's boring and it's kind of a passion killer. My first contract runs until February next year, which I'am not planning to renew.
In the next months I want to proof to myself that I can become a professional poker player.
2 years ago I played between 50 and 200NLH and had some decent results. However I slowly started to play increasingly more tournaments. At first I had great results but after a while the downswing started to hit, and I could not handle this mentally well.
I lost my interest in poker for a while and was mainly focusing on school. Around the summer in 2017 I started playing NLH tournaments again. In that summer I won around 40K, thinking that there may be a future in beeing a MTT pro.
Up till the summer of 2018 I constantly tried to improve my MTT game, but I ended up with terrible results. After playing around 2K tournaments I had a ROI of -35%(maybe slightly less because PT4 doesn't count bounty's). With a 8 BB/100 winrate, which isn't great but not bad either.
It may have been variance, it may have been that I am just a bad player. Either way being a MTT player isn't sustainable for me. So I decided to focus on cash games again. I already have done some great effort to improve. Right now my plan is to play between 25NL and 200NL. Results so far this year:
