My Name is Mitch H, I am 24 years old, and Live in Portland, Oregon. I go to Portland State University, and i am 2 terms away from Graduating. I am studying Economics and Psychology. I have been playing poker semi professionals for roughly 4 years almost all of which has been during school. Paying for car payments, cell phone bills, food, golf, etc. I am currently living with my parents, saving money while in school and just makes things a lot easier. However with 2 terms left, and finishing in December i plan on making some big strides in increasing the bankroll which will enable me to move out and continue this journey of moving out of the country to play online.

Why create a thread?

Accountability, Motivation, Goal Setting, and sharing the every day grind of a US online Mtt grinder. Starting roll will be 6k. I would have around 20k however most of that is on Carbon Poker, I have had a max payout pending for over 8 weeks.. Essentially assuming I don’t get it. Max pain yes… Will it stop me from putting in volume? Getting a standard job over the summer? **** No.. ..

Background: I have been playing poker since i was 12-13 years old, While traveling for baseball, I discovered the older kids were playing mini sit n go's and they invited us to play and was instantly hooked. Then the World Series was being played on espn. I just thought it was awesome, and began to beat all the older kids; I had a niche for the game. I didn’t really start playing seriously until I was 19, right around 2009-2010, however I didn’t start really excelling and improving until post black Friday. I missed out on that goldmine. In 2011-2012 my poker coach and I decided to move to Vegas, I only had 5kish to start with, I came back a year later with 4x what I started with. Would I do it again with what I had? Absolutely not. Cannot stress enough how important starting capital is in this game. Especially when trying to make a transition to play for a living. I would never have gone unless I had bare min, 30k. However it was a great experience and I was fortunate enough to run way above EV the first 2 months I was there to put me in a position to be able to sustain myself through poker while I was there. A year later my coach got tired of Vegas and needed to go play online because that was his niche. I had a choice to make, follow him and continue pursuing poker, or Since I was already 2.5 years into school I decided to go home and continue schooling until I received my degree. I decided on going home because I knew id always be able to play poker and pursue that dream again further down the road if I wanted to. But if I continued to play id never want to go back.

Now I am here, 2 terms from graduating. Motivated to make some money over the summer and devote my time playing tourneys, treating it as a 40-50 hr. a week job. I

Goals/Plan of attack: Plan on playing 5ish days a week, start registering normally at 3pm and stop regging around 8-9pm depending how I am feeling and if I want to register the late turbos on bovada. Ive got 1200 on Bovada/ 1k on Pokerforyou aka wpn skin. I can deposit if need be on both. I will Play up to 50 dollar freezeouts until I have roughly 15k then start shot taking some small field 109’s. 25k and I can start playing the majors on bovada and wpn. Long term summer goal is make 20k playing tourneys. I know profit based goals are not the best thing to target, however I am confident this is attainable considering ive done it before and will be putting in the volume. I plan on updating the thread after each session giving a run down of mental state, buy ins, profit, total tourneys played, which I cash in, etc. I will also play the occasional live Mtt, considering Portland has a decent live scene for tourneys, I can find a 100-150 dollar 10-20k any Friday or Saturday. These games are amazing and I have had a lot of success playing these donkaments. Will incorporate bigger liveaments when I feel my bankroll can handle it.

First session 6/11/15.

Couldn't say no to free golf today... Pumpkin Ridge, Hole 18. Feeling fortunate to be where im at, living in the moment. Got home late after eating Korean BBQ with some friends. ended up registering some nightly turbos and small freezouts. Played 13 tourneys, cashed in 4, 150 profit. I will be putting in a full session today. Plan on getting a work out in at 2:00 and then off to battle.

combined update... 6/13/15-- downswing over... 3 fts.. two 4ths and a 1st for 2k profit. 1st in the 82 $ 8k for 2200 and the two 4ths were for approx 400ish. played decent all day. still don't think i am playing my a+ game. Forcing myself to try and just push the envelope... aggression, aggression, aggression... Was great having some momentum going into sunday. currently 3-5 in the nightly 12.5k on wpn.. Final table bubbled the 30 25k kj<j2ss for 1.3 milli... 56th in the bov 100k qq<ak for 120k pot... couple other nastyyy shiiett. but in the green on Sunday as well. Cant really complain. SHIPPPPED the 12.5k for 2500, ended up +2k today. make that +4k for the weekend. roll is now around 10k. lesssss goooooo

6/16/15 tuesday night felt great coming off of a three final table sunday. Ended up making deep runs in several tourneys. took 3rd in the 11 8k ds on bovada for 750, and was chip lead going into the final table of the 109 15k on wpn network.. felt like i couldn't get anything rolling 5 handed. just couldnt get a 3 bet through, hit a flop, etc, had to change it up and nit. I did and ended up qq>a4 to get lead back 4 handed. Ended up flatting chip leader on the button with aces because sb and bb were prime re shove stacks, and i ended up punting it off on 1097cc, 3b flop and went with it. wanted to puke when it happened, just a marginal/bad spot to get in 50 bbs with 2 short stacks to my left. icm disaster. went for the win in the wrong spot. id say my mental game was on point felt awesome. A game up until the final 5 handed in that 15k. still made 1k on the day. roll up to 12k. +5k since the thread. Will put in another big session today starting at 3.

ya solid start to the summer. ended up heaping the 109 25k on wpn... semi punted chip lead again at final table.... took 5th for like 1500... ended up shipping a 22 10k for 2kish. brings profit up to about 8-9k on the summer. heater officially engaged. may take Saturday off and get well rested for a big Sunday grind coming up. stoked.

I grind on bovada as well. When summer started I had 2$ I'm over 6k now.
