Hi I'm fairly new to 2+2, I was interested in starting in a blog mainly for motivation, advice and feedback through my journey. I was told this site was the largest poker community available so thought why not.

I was previously a successful live cash grinder at 1-2, 1-3 and 2-5 for a year but took some time off to start a business with a close friend of mine, since then iv also had a beautiful baby girl which has forced me to take some further time off. I now have some flexibility and can allocate a few days a week after work to play which I intend to come back with a bang and climb back up the stakes. Business is booming but I do not intend to dip into other savings for poker. The aim is to start with a 5k roll playing 1-2, and 1-3 hoping to return to 2-5 when I get to 10k and then continue. I will post a few hands and welcome all advice from fellow grinders.

I have had 5 sessions so far
+180
+200
+45
+600
-500 (cold decked at least 4 times)

Bankroll £5525

Wish me luck.

Played twice Friday and tonight. Friday I actually played PLO, there was a drunk guy sitting with 1500 and I couldn't resist. I went from +200 to -400 when I turned the nut straight vs his top and bottom pair, the money went in on the turn and he housed up on the river! Nice hand!
I reloaded and grinded back the everything and managed to book a profit of 800. a notable hand was me turning quads on a A 888 Q board and being called down by pocket 10s. Friday +810

Didn't play yesterday but was able to play a few hours today two value characters a young guy that spazzed out a few times and a Russian guy that didn't last very long in the game a managed to book a profit of 260 and left as the game dried up.

Bankroll £6595

It's been a pretty good start and I can't wait to return to the 2-5 games but shouldn't be too long if I remain patient.

Went to my local card room but there was no cash game running, there are periods when it slows down and I revert to places like the vic or the empire. I'll see if it was a one off or the games do infact die down. When the games are juicy their JUICY. It's pretty annoying because iv got the hunger to grind back in me and can't really waste a day. Iv qualified for their cash rake race competition aswell which is a bonus should be around 4-5k up top if I were able to bink it.
Im really keen on improving myself everyday both in life and poker, and was interested in reading some poker literature but don't have a clue where to start was wondering if anyone could recomend anything for a everyday grinder that I would find relevant And useful in my everyday.
Tomorrow is double points night in the cash room and there's a popular comp on drawing in quite a few runners so should be a good game.

"THIS F*#KING GAME" was the first thing I heard as I walked into the cash room it was a fellow grinder who was having "one of those days" and it was a sentiment that I would soon be sharing.

The game was 1-2 no limit hold em but every single hand was straddled so it was 1-2-5 and opens were 15-20. It was 9 handed with 6 players sitting with 600+ 4 players loosing a fair amount 2 of which, grinder A who I heard when I walked in and myself were buried. He was down 800 and had 300 left in front of him and I was nearing -1k. Grinder A who I had heard when I walked in complained about being 1 outered and 2 outered earlier that night and finally got the last of his stack in with KQ on a flop of J 9 8 brick brick and ended up being won with ace high.... He called it a day.

I had a horrendous start which saw me raise folding bet folding and having the second best hand various times. I then picked up JJ and a player known for spazzing out did exactly that when he re-raised all in for 280 PRE FLOP and I quickly called. The board ran out k 10 4 Q Q he announced queen and turned over Q 5 FML!!!
I then got it in with AK on flop of 5 K 10 and was up against middle set (it would be an understatement to say this is the top of villains range) but yeh brick brick nice hand!

Considered calling it a day but I genuinely wasn't tilted or spewy and game was too juicy went for a walk spoke to a friend for a while and ordered a chocolate milkshake lol then returned. Managed to have some hands hold picked up a few small pots jus raised pre cbet and took it down. chipped up and limped kings flopped top set and housed up and was paid a bit by a flush.

5 handed I opened the cut off to 10 with 8 9 and was reraised to 30 out the big by a player usually raising with big cards will usually check give up with nothing cbets certain flops and won't fold an overpair on any board. I made the call and the flop came 8 5 5 he bet 40 I called the turn was 7 he checked and I bet 80 at this point I genuinely thought my 8 was good his line with over pairs is usually bet bet bet, or just bet shove. I bet for protection didn't want like an A or K coming n him bombing river also he was doing money and I think he still might call with 2 pictures not to mention juicing the pot for my straight flush. The river was 8 he checked I set him in for 100 odd he tanked mumbled about not being able to put me on a hand and thinking I was at it and called with 66 the dealer told he had no idea what was going on and thought it was AA against JJ lol. And like that were out of it and winning £8 lol.

I stayed for another hour odd did back a lil and ended the night down 125 but when you were down 1k it feels like a win. Pretty frustrating night overall but I'm glad I was able to keep a cool head, hopefully my week will pick up.

"Nice hand" ..........*taps hand on table* .........this pretty much sums up my evening last night.
Pretty disappointed in yesterdays session, so many swings. I have an ability to just chip up and chip up and chip up, but when the big money went in I could never win. My arch enemy is pocket 10s so some free info I ever play any of you and you pick ip 1010 go crazy you'll get there.

The line up for the game was pretty good didn't appear to be the juiciest game but could definitely make some money. A few hands in there were 4 limpers and it was raised 12 from the button buy a lag reg. I made it 37 from the sb with A K only to see 2 of the original limpers fold and 2 call (the respect I get.... In for 2 flat 37) as did the button. We saw a flop of 5 K 2 and I bet 82 into around 155 and was shoved on for 75 more, the others folded and I called. He turned turned over AA and the board bricked out..... "nice hand" *tapped table* *mucked hand*

Then several orbits later after being pretty card dead I pick up AK on the button in a straddled pot it folds around to me and I open for 15 sb and bb fold the straddler (villain from previous hand) defends. We are both playing 550-600 . The flop came Q 10 6 rainbow he checks I bet 19 he clicked it to 40 and I called the turn was a J (easy game) he bet 75 ......money goes in .......Q on the river ......."nice hand" *tapped table* *mucked hand*

Frustation kicking in I was -600 chip up and claw some back. I picked up A: 4 opened utg to 10 and was called by an old nit and I mean NIT. As soon as he calls I just rolled my eyes and thought here we go. The board came 4 K 10 and bet 15 and he calls. I put him on AK or KQ he's not someone that pays even one street with second pair be it a 10 or JJ or QQ. The turn was 4 and I bet 35 and he called again. The river was 2 I bet 50 he shoves for 20 more...... I now know I'm dead but can't pass for 20 I call and get shown 1010. Sigh. *tapped table* "nice hand".

As much of a nit as he is and he really is as nitty as they come I found myself questioning my bets n value bet but but was comforted by a dealer/player who reminded me of how many times the said nit goes broke with TPTK and over pairs. Bricking 2 OESFD later and playing a few annoying hands later I decided to call it a day when 3 of biggest winners left taking alot of money off the table. Chips in rack we were 4 handed and all the players left were buried!! one -1.4k one -650 me -800 when came the "anyone wanna change to PLO" ......... I just couldn't resist. What ensued was a carnage of 4 handed 1-2-5-10-20 straddles and some degen gambling some many all ins saw some buried further and some get out if. I was finished off with K Q J 10 on a flop of Q J 5 up against A K 9 10. 10 on the river. goodnight guys. Total damage -1.1k

When I used to grind before I had at least double the roll I have now and 1k swings were nothing to bat an eyelid over. But with my roll as is am considering a stop loss maybe coming out with only 500 to cut down on the swings, but the 1-2 games I play are usually pretty deep and not really sure what to do. Gonna take a few days off and get back to the grind on the weekend maybe. Pretty disappointed and frustrated obviously not the direction I want to be going in.

had some good sessions last few days nothing to report means all is well had a +2700 and a +600 played and incredibly juicy/crazy 1-3 where a few of the people were playing 1500-2k deep and had been up 24 hours. Witnessed an a 3 way all in on a 2 A 4 flop 4k pot with A5 vs A9 vs other person didnt show but A 9 was good. Not going to be able to play live for a few days so thinking of loading some dollars on stars and attempting to get my isildur on...... thinking of jumping on 1-2 PLO cash tables wish me luck.

Played yesterday for the first time in a few days nothing crazy happen pretty slow but managed to book a solid 350 profit, Hopefully I'll be able to get a few hours in tonight. Stars was a pretty big waste of time booked a 250 dollar win over 6 hours then used most of it to buy in to a wcoop event ended up coming 600ish with no cash prize.

Another very long grind not any notable hands I can think of, had some decent spots. Considering some of the characters that were in the game it should have been a lot wilder. Managed to make 508 tonight.

i stepped into londons home of poker the vic earlier this week same grinders exactly where i left them same old retired daytime nit regs right where i left them and new punters coming in and out just as always. Quite frankly i missed the place and everything about going to try and change my hours around and play earlier and not evening sessions. Had a poor start stacking off and bricking and OESFD early on, clawed it back and won 405.

Not being able to play live for a few days due to commitments that have me tied up all day i turned on the laptop and loaded pokerstars when my insomnia kicked, iv read so many threads and stories of online heads up omaha spin ups, im a winning omaha player how hard can it be?..................two words....... no good lol. I lost 2 buy ins so quickly that if i were playing 6 max the waiting list would have filled up and table would snap break as soon as i leave.

Im not gonna be stubborn and go on stars again before i do some reading buy hem and get some advice and going to be tied up for the rest of the week and weekend so ill be back next week.

Its been a while since i last posted, been pretty busy with life in general and been playing quite a bit had a very good last 3 weeks to the tune of 5500 but did 2k in one session playing 5-10. Although i told myself id be patient i really couldnt help it the line up was too soft and game very juicy.

I have no regrets with the way i played barring a 300 bluff bet on the river which was quickly picked off, but i was rewarded by being called down extremely light for the remainder of the evening, there was one big pot where all the chips went in i was holding K 10 on a K 10 5 flop and was called by A K.............and obviously i couldnt hold. Id like to think im good at taking beats but that one hurt me. Going to take a few days off and return to the felt monday, will start posting more often and in more detail again aswell as reading alot more.
