whats up guys. long time lurker, but I decided to make an account and start my own pg&c

I want to keep my identity anonymous but without giving away too much, I started playing august of last year at nl20. I see a lot of negative posts about the future of online poker but I will prove the dream is still alive, you just need to work hard

graph https://gyazo.com/fa15b369bb2fea31ac2cf18ca809fc1f

my goals are simple

- be winning at nl2k this year
- battle at $200/$400 and be one of the best in the world
- be honest with my game and always look for areas to improve

in the near future you can expect some 1knl shots and entertaining HHs

been a while since my last update. I did some travelling to a certain major casino over the past week. I played 5/T or T/20 when the game looked good. I could never play live poker full time but its enjoyable to take these trips once in a while

I profited 5.7k which is very nice, because I doubt ill play live poker more then a few times this year. I actually played in some really tough lineups where I wasn't sure if I was even winning, and also played in some 10/20 lineups where several players didn't know the rules

I'm about to start my online sess after getting back last night excited to get back at it

hi, I think a big reason was I just moved up to the next stake immediately when I saw I was crushing it for sure. this is why I only have 20k hands at nl20, 30k at 50nl etc. Yea my wr there is almost certainly lower then 19bb/100 but theres almost no chance I wasn't best player at the limit

I did stay at nl200 for a long time because I just lost 10 buy ins playing 400nl at the start and confidence was low I see a lot of others who sit 1 stake for months and never move up despite being a winner there. Its a big leak, you cost yourself future $ by not playing bigger.

as far as being good enough at the game I'm honest with myself and what parts of my game where idk wtf I'm doing. When I got confused in certain situations I hit the lab, and spend a lot of time studying and open to being wrong. People, especially ego centric poker players don't like to be wrong and don't progress there game because of it

Getting pretty tilting losing every pot all day everyday,2nd flush into nutflush, losing AA v AK etc. its about 16bi downswing at this point, 9 in EV. I think I will take tomorrow off to review then get back at it. I had a 24bi downswing at nl200 and the world didn't end so this should be fine. . .

been a while since the last update, went on 30bi downswing at nl400 but am almost out of the downswing after a pretty sick session today. Some old leaks definitely came out during that downswing and I cant say I played my best. Mental game has always been an issue for me, I make a bad play and get frustrated with myself which leads to more bad plays I think ive gotten much better since my early days but still room to improve

Ive also been battling some of the top regs at my stakes 3 handed the last few days and have been doing well/seem to be playing better IMO. That can be a lot of fun but deff not the most profitable way to spend my time. I think a mix of finding good games and battling to stay sharp is ideal.

I just hit 200k hands for the year so Its time for a graph

whats up guys. Not gonna be playing tomorrow so this is my end of month update. $$$ wise this has been my best month ever, but as you can see...
online month 400-1k
https://gyazo.com/836b909fec7e91354b994cae09a101eb
live month 5/T and T/20
https://gyazo.com/d882474548d420eebb9374f813a7e0a0

So I profited about 13k~ from live/online but only won 2.5k online in EV and live is just so soft. I have a lot of work to do on my game, and the 13k win this month just feels so undeserved

h1 some heat

Why x Turn w AA? How is it not a bet bet bet

you cant just bet/bet/bet your strong hands always. you need to protect turn check range especially when so much of my range is just overcards(AK/AQ/AJ/KQ/QJs/JTs/T9s etc etc) I have to mix in some traps. AA does not need any protection so its the most frequent trap

what does hitting the lab all day mean? what does that look like?

also, how do you change your strategy when you are playing live?

for studying I will run sims overnight on 15-20 hands then review it in the morning. I think its best to check all the common situations and make sure you are doing the right thing because those happen the most. Reviewing the couple hands you got coolered isn't practical and I think a lot of people do that

adjustments for live poker is very broad.. the big things for me, is just you have to play tighter in 9 handed 2 blind poker. The raise sizes are also obnoxiously huge so BB defense isn't really a thing. The other thing that happens when raises are 4x-5x you don't want to do any calling raises, I will play 3bet or fold from all positions unless there is a fish involved. The bigger the raise more you want to 3bet and less calling. Also people don't ever seem to 4bet bluff even at 5/T and T/20 so this makes life really easy

Great insight into the raise/fold idea and generally playing tighter in 9-handed play. Do you open up your game significantly in LP? Do you ever limp in LP or iso with weak hands?

And you are right, nobody really 4! bluffs. I've been starting to incorporate some 4! bluffs because V's immediately and always think AA. So the idea is I want to 4! bluff V's who tend to 3! light right?

So I think the flop x/r is fairly standard. CU v MP villain is going to 3bet or fold and this includes 88+ and maybe 77 at low freq, as well as all the KTs+/QJs+ AK,AQ, and some Axs. On the flop I protect my equity any J/Q/K/A or 2/3/7/8 are quite bad for me. The value of protection is huge so I think that's the best play by a wide margin on this texture. The MDF vs a x/r is actually quite tricky as well. He has to defend hands like QJs/KQs with bdfd, as well as 77-99, A5s/A4s otherwise he will overfold

On turn this card sucks he will pair up a lot, so I will do check with most of my range. When he xbacks I except a lot of 77-99, A4s-A6s at some freq, and AsAx/JJ for the traps

River I think I can value bet on the 6. it reduces my perceived value range a ton so I will get called by 77-99 often enough + I block JThh. obv I run into the trap :P

In and good luck. Also would be curious to know how important you think flopzilla is compared to some of the software out there.
