Not playing much but doing well. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more hands in until the month is over. It would be silly to not maintain Platinum star lol.

Up $2k for the month, which I'm ofc happy with given volume.

Feb

I'm also happy to have repaired the January mess. The goal for my next stint of annoyed and tilty play is to stop around the 100k hand mark. There's not much hope beyond that in terms of finding a decent performance and the immediate twist in all three lines after a short mental reset should explain my stance on "powering through downswings" quite well.

Thread Total

Moving forward I just see a math induced depression, so let's just be happy with the 100z grind for now and not even thnk about the future.

As far as the 100z pool is concerned it's slowly dawning on me just how screwed you are with seemingly strong hands in a lot of spots. I think my default abc strat is doing fine overall, but unless I'm severely mistaken the optimal game for this pool is very weird indeed. I have a lifetime of stationing behind me so it's not going to be easy to make the adjustments I think I should be making, but I guess I'll make some filters and update the HUD and try some stuff out.

I feel the thread is a bit "dear diary" and lacking a direction lately but ty!

And nope, just lurking for now. I can only recall two noteworthy hands against the pgc guys over this entire sample so I don't feel too bad about it

Stayed up 6 hours longer than intended and tried to force a rostucko yesterday but it wasn't to be. I was ready to keep going but unfortunately I started having motor control issues from the sleepy at about 5am and managed to quit.

Spewed a few stacks but overall I think it was quite the +ev session. Games were great. Ten out of thirteen stacks lost was this exact scenario against the recs so what can you do.

On another note I got an xbox controller yesterday and programmed all my hotkeys into it. Still some setup do to until it's perfect, but I'm intrigued so far. I get a bit cold and tingly in my mouse arm during the longer sessions despite a good chair/desk/posture setup. This will fix that.

What's your thought process on the different flop sizings in H1 and H2? They seem very similar in positions/texture/ranges so would be interesting to hear your decision making?

pretty sure h1 is just exploiting a fish w/ 99-JJ

I think the ranges I'm facing is the biggest difference given that one is an OOP cold call and one is the more standard IP flat. Highest ev option in H1 is probably a little bit closer to pot to make it a less awkward two street hand. With a draw present I think you can make it as big as you want really.

H2 is mainly to push my equity more effectively against the large majority of his range that is close to dead. It's just an exploit really, I would never bluff this player profile for this sizing. Nor would I use this sizing with a more vulnerable 99-QQ type hand.

I think the first one was more of a nitty fish, and the second more of a spazz as well. That helps both decisions.

Had a good day turned decent today.

It's quite obvious that I can't play the game I like to play for any longer periods of time so I'll stop this grinding. I'll take 1k A game hands over this crap any day. I think the net result is about the same, but without frying my brain and getting annoyed because of the quality of my play.

Don't want to whine too much after a winning day but bleh, browsing over the losing hands this really should have been a 10bi+ day with just a little bit more focus. A lot of seemingly small mistakes ended up costing buyins. Back to playing fresh. Might take tomorrow off to reset.

Gl all.

I average around 500 hands per hour. So 5 ish if I play reg and 2.25 ish if I play zoom.

I'm a terrible multitabler. The problem is mainly that I'm solving every spot on the go in my head rather than sitting down off the tables and formulating strategies. I still feel kind of new outside of the old school bet 2/3 pot every street strats so I spend a lot of time coming up with sizings etc (not to say I get it right anyway ).

The solution would be sitting down off the tables and really nailing down good default strats in a lot of spots. For preflop I have mental charts for my default and two or three set exploit ranges for certain situations and player types. This means I have to spend almost zero energy on picking preflop combos which is great. I'd imagine a truly strong player feels the same in a lot of postflop spots, whereas I'm like "f***, how I do dis" whenever a flop lands.

Multitabling is a skill in itself for sure, and I can't do it atm.

Not sure if done for the month. I've been spewing 5bi/day last three days and feel a bit like catching up on other stuff. Up about $2.3k w RB which is alright. At least it's progress.

I like 100z. I've been a bit grumpy lately but, as always, that's just because I know I'm playing right into the hands of strategies I don't like. Which ofc says more about me than about the other guys. Once I feel I've stopped the click click click and have some strategies that better exploit these guys I'll start the 200z shots again. No reason to stick around here, I know I beat it for a good clip even with my current terrible strategy and application. I guess the money I consider my BR atm is about $10k so a little 5bi shot here and there doesn't seem unreasonable.

Gl everyone!

Trying out a little routine for March.

- Mon-Friday I set alarm at 7-8am, put phone far away from bed
- Get up, make coffee, immediately play 1k hands. Note interesting hands or improvement ideas from session for later. Done.

Nothing fancy. The point being that I'd like to get up earlier, and I'd also like to not feel like I should be playing all the time. This way decent minimum volume is taken care of at the time when I'm normally still in bed browsing the youtubes/facebook etc.

Two days in, good start. It will be fun to evaluate this.

Thx Kai, I hope to be able to keep it up.

I'll stay in the shadows Clanty

Today was a near perfect weekday for me. Up early, enjoyed the morning poker, got myself to the am lecture, lunch, back to uni doing math studies with friends in a focused manner rather than sitting at home and getting nowhere. Now exhausted, will prob sleep like a baby, and really looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow.

The productive life really induces them good feels. Let's try to collect a few more of these days in the coming week.

Was very tired today and played rather meh. But the key is ofc to run over EV and also lose at 100z and win at 200z so I'm off to a good start.

I was at the library studying for math exams all day again so I don't have much hope of getting in on the friday night action. I'm already spent and to add to that I have a big bowl of pasta bolognese in front of me and a cold brew in the fridge so I'm pretty much guaranteed to pass out within the hour.

Back at it tomorrow!

*Insert whine*

I cannot believe I'm not down 20bi this weekend. The annoyance factor has been off the charts consistently with c/f being the answer to every question. Obviously I can't do it for long and end up punting some stacks, but wcyd

Prob taking tomorrow off to cool down. I was fuming today lol. Real happy about results in the end. This could have gotten oh so ugly.

So, this journal died kind of but it's not been due to a downer, just a lack of hands and too much other stuff on my plate irl. I basically didn't play since last post until May but since then I've put a few hands in.

Thread total at this point, lacking 30-40k untracked lol euro hands that would have bumped the winrate quite a bit.

Still not feeling like competing with irl being the focus so average stake is still 100nl. The summer holiday was supposed to be the time to rectify this but alas I have to move and it will take up both some time and make me a bit more of a money nit until everything is done and settled in. The new apartment is absolutely perfect productivity wise though so once all is done it should be great.

I'm not optimising my hourly by being such a huge BR nit, but the hourly is still pretty good and I'm having a stress free and rather fun time playing so I try not to be too hard on my self. By the end of summer I'd like to see myself play mainly 200nl though with a decent 2017 goal being to have the BR to be able to bum hunt MSNL without too much stress. Should be doable.

Strategy wise the march-april break helped tremendously. It's just how my brain seems to operate. The further I am away from the grind, the easier it is to see the forest and not get snagged up in the trees. I rehauled my study framework completely about two weeks ago and feel very pumped about the new direction. A lot of things will def continue to click and some things that now take a lot of effort at the tables will "set" and become automated if I just put the time in.

Hopefully this can go hand in hand with being able to play faster. The overall h/hour is 420 in this sample which is obviously suboptimal. To work on this I've been 4 tabling 50z a bit, just to not be annoyed when the inevitable stressed punt happens, which clearly has been a big problem so far.

Mainly 6 tabling other sites or 3 tabling zoom these days so we'll see where we end up. Approaching 8-900+ h/hour still fries my brain more quickly than I'd like though, but hopefully it can be done with practice.

Anyway, getting ranty. 10th of July ish should be the point where uni, moving and a bit of a holiday has been taken care of. So from then on I'll try to keep myself accountable to a bit of a journal again and hopefully move up a limit or two.

Gl all until then!

Thanks Max, glad to see you doing well as well.

Had a very nice weekend at the tables followed by a party/music event kind of a deal yesterday with a surprisingly high amount of old acquaintances showing up which was pretty awesome.

Too hungover to use my brain today so rather than playing I splurged on some hardware upgrades for PIO. Some more storage, a Ryzen 1700 and a new motherboard.

Sadly I did not win the silicon lottery by any stretch of the imagination but it's going to be a very nice upgrade anyway. Will sit here eating junk food and run stress tests like a true nerd slob for the rest of the night.
