Dear 2+2ers,

I am mrdestiny, a uni student that has messed around and now has an entire year to write a thesis to finish up studies...

In the mean time, I will be doing none other that my current obsession, playing some live poker.

This thread is destined to take you on a journey through the life of a live poker grinder EU-style. I will be travelling through the EU, attempting to go to all the poker hot-spots in an attempt to increase my bankroll and familiarise myself with the varying poker destinations this continent has to offer.

To start off, my bankroll will begin at €10,000, and a UK roll of £3600, hopefully by the end of the year I will double these figures. These rolls will be untouched by life-expenses and will only be used for poker wagers. The sole exception will be the usage for food bought in the casino.

What you can expect from this thread is going to be my results, interesting HHs I encounter along the way, and reports on the venues I will be visiting.

Wish me luck m8s!

Classic start with some serious run bad. One of those sessions where you get coolered over and over and get no action when you seem to be tilted and actually have a hand.
BR is at 8600. Took a nice 1.4k dip.

One hand where I sort of knew I was coolered again but made the call out of frustration and then left immediately goes as follows.

5 handed 2/5
UTG opens to 15, sb calls, Hero in the bb calls with QdTs

Flop: $45
QsQh7s
sb checks, hero checks, UTG bets 25, sb calls, Hero calls

Turn: Kc $120
sb checks, hero checks, UTG bets 100, sb calls, Hero calls

River: 4c $420
sb checks, hero checks, UTG bets 265, sb folds, hero tanks and looks at his Ts in disgust and says **** it if I lose this one I'm going home.

Hero calls knowing he beats nothing knowing this guy is never bluffing in this spot and also has the worst QT combo to call with. I wouldn't be surprised to see this guy check back QT or worse on the river, a real nit reg...
UTG tables QcJc.

Tomorrow, or today by now is another day though... Let's hope things make a quick turn around.

Played in quite a good game today but didn't run into any tough spots. Won 235 euros putting the bankroll at 8835.

My run bad did continue in one spot that would have potentially made me a 1k winner for the night. I was about 900 deep with a villain without a fold button. He limped like he did 85% of his hands, CO a nitty reg opened to 20, I look down at JJ in the bb. I decide to flat to invite the fish into the pot.

Flop ($62):
254r
Flop is checked around, maybe I should make a case for leading out here since the nitreg is pretty much never going bluff raise here and the fish will call with anything as he will have two overs or a pair or draw on this board. I went with the standard play though...

Turn ($62):
Jd (sweet top set)
I bet $45 and get called by the fish, the nitreg folds.

River: ($152):
5s

I tank for a bit contemplating a check-raise but this guy is going to call with any two pairs and A-high. He will only bet with a 5 here. I bet $130.... the fish grabs a bunch of chips and then string bets an amount that is ruled as a call when he had a clear intention to raise and tables A5o. sigh... I'm pretty sure he would call my ALLIN wager ontop of his minraise as he previously had snap called me with top-pair when I made a pot-sized river bluff on a 4-flush board.

Anyways I guess booking a small win isn't too bad. Tomorrow is another day for me to battle it out.

I recommend quitting any time you have more than 10% of your bankroll on the table.

Rn I'm buying in for 10% of my bankroll at $800 since I am playing 2/5 max 1k. I do not play scared poker but I do recognise that I will have to drop my buy ins down or potentially move down to 1/2 if my roll drops to 5-6k. Hopefully this doesn't happen and I can continue to play 2/5.

Had a rollercoaster of a day today but managed to end in the green. I also made my first Royal flush in live no-limit texas holdem and won a decent sized pot with it.

I started off my day at the casino I usually visit and ran up a stack to about 1.7k. I started off playing Omaha as there was no seat available for the 2/5NL. Picked up a couple nice hands and wanted to stay at the Omaha as the game started off quite good but the whales left quite soon and the game was left with reggy looking people and old short-stackers.

Sure enough a seat opened up at the 2/5. Stack went up and down, everytime I won a big pot, I proceeded to lose every single small pot I was involved in. Really frustrating to dwindle down. The game soon was quite reggy so I decided to explore and went to another casino.

I got absolutely destroyed at this casino. The pot that cost me was a button straddle that was limped to the button who then squeezed to $60 and called in 5 spots. I had 44 and the flop came Qh9c4h. Ended up going ALLIN three ways vs AhQd and JcTd. Turn was the Ks and river 5h the pot was about $2000. We then played shorthanded for a while, my comfort-zone and I managed to recuperate some of my losses playing extremely aggressively vs full-ring nitregs. The game broke shortly after and I was losing about $35 for the night... my hunger to keep playing was still there so I headed back to the original casino.

Played 2hrs at the original casino and managed to win $720 in those 2 hrs and made my first Royal flush when I 3bet a maniac from UTG+1 with KcJc. Flop came AcQc4d, turn Tc, river 3x. I couldn't believe I had a royal I checked back the turn and the maniac bet pot OTR and folded to my river jam ofc as he probably had an airball.

Anyways
Bankroll is at 9520. Hopefully tomorrow we will cross the 10k.

I did it, managed to cross the 10k mark and am now in the green. Still managed to book a winning day despite losing the biggest pot of the night with a substantial amount of equity in the pot. Looks like this thread is going to start off as a bad beat thread.

Anyways late into the sesh I pick up TT and open to 20, I get called by 2 fish, one playing a stack of about (V1) $900 and the other about (V2) $450ish.

Flop comes KT7r, I bet 40, get raised by V1 to $120, V2 cold calls, with V2 cold calling I decide to 3bet the flop, basically turning my hand face-up but I know these guys will not fold two-pairs, AK or a lower set as I have seen them call overbets with 2-pairs on boards with 4 to a straight/flush, etc, I bump it up to $325, V1 jams, V2 shrugs and puts the remainder of his stack, I snap. V1 flips over QJo, V2 flips over 98o. Turn 2d, River........ As. I have both players covered.

And ship the pot $2.3k+ pot to the donk who proceeds to lock it up afterwards. As soon as he leaves, I play 2-3 more rounds before racking up and calling it a day.

Anyways I still managed to book a 1005 win taking the BR to 10525. Ran pretty well that day and was getting paid. Made quads twice and got paid by them, obviously for much smaller pots. Losing the massive pots with so much equity two nights in a row is quite demoralising. If I would have won those two I would be approaching 15k. Anyways at least I managed to book a decent win. Lets hope that sometime soon I end up on the right side of a 2k+ pot.
