With respect, how come this is only your first session of the month?

Sure, I'll go into a little story :]

My GF texted me last week while I was at work asking if she could download a game off my steam account. This is very weird because she plays no games, I mean none, ever, not even cards. I was pretty excited she was going to start playing a game because obviously I love games. I asked her what the game was and she said it was an RPG called stardew valley and someone she follows on youtube was playing it. Well, I said she could go ahead and DL it if I could play it/try it out too.

Long story short, I've now put in about 40 hours of game play in that this week.

Game is a pretty basic very bad graphics kind of RPG. Pretty linear and not challenging, but is pretty addictive. It reminds me of like runescape classic or a very basic RPG with game-boy graphics. Been grinding it hard, lol.

It's got very very positive ratings, like 10/10 ratings. So would suggest to try it out if you don't mind bad graphics and like rpgs. It's only $15

I am glad the story ended this way. I was worried it was going to do down the she downloaded a virus/downloading it for some other secret guy.

Retro games are the best (ex-Runescape addict)

I wouldn't dare try a new (good) game. It's like saying bye bye to everything if (when) I get addicted haha.

Bit of Matt Damon can't go wrong mate, glad your sessions went well, took your advice to heart and played 2 tables yesterday. When I was getting tired played some 2plo.

Cheers man

nice,

sessions went well, but I actually played particularly bad, some rather bad calls today

Yea Stardew Valley is tearing up the steam charts. It's like a modern version of harvest moon, don't blame you for playing that over poker haha. Plus once you get a steady paycheck you start valuing money more.

The Martian was a great movie!!! Loved it, super funny and the dialogue/acting was well done along with the solid story line. The pace was OK, but could have been a little better.

Tacos were amazing though ofc, I made them

Well the last couple months ran bad kinda every time I played which killed the mood. Will end up attempting to withdraw my money off ACR after I play a tournament or two. With regards to the money, I'm actually doing pretty well. Technically saving >1k a month atm. Just going to try to pay off my car loan before the end of the year (bit over 7k and its a 5 year thing, will be doing it in 10 months hopefully). Also, literally a week prior to getting the job I'm currently working at I filed for deferrment on my student loans and those are coming off deferment soon, so I'll be putting in 200-250$ a month on those soon, and then when my car is paid off I'll end up having to pay off the ones with highest interest.

I really want to start making some investments in mutual funds/ira but I'm thinking my loans need to be paid off first. Once I get hired full time within the next couple of months I'll get my 401k and max that but think I have to work there for 6 months before I'm eligible.. and I don't plan on staying there forever so that's pretty unfortunate

In work related news, there are a total of 5 guys with the same job as me, but we want 6 and one of the cooler guys that I talk to/helps me a lot just got promoted. This means we need to hire on two new people, one of which was hired about 3 weeks ago. He'll likely end up taking my shift and I'll be moving to a daytime schedule (pumped!!). The other position hasn't been filled yet, but I messaged a buddy of mine from college who is still looking for a job the application and he says he is interested. I told him it was awful before hand though.

You can probably rollover your 401k if you leave. I don't know too much about 401k though.

For an IRA, a Roth is pretty solid idea. You use your after-tax money and you can always withdraw the principal that you deposited, but there is a limit to how much you can deposit every year (5500 as of 2016). However, if you make eligible withdrawals of your gains/profits, you won't be taxed, but that won't be until you're a lot older. It's definitely a nice a way to build a nest egg on your own. FWIW, you can use the funds you deposit to your IRA to invest in mutual funds. I'm sure the guys at the business, finance, and investing section of the forum will answer your questions than I can.

Ahh I quit when the eoc was released then I came back to 07 for a bit. The 07 version is still pretty decent imo but it's just too addictive lol

Yeh, I have something like 250 days of game play on my main and I had several pures during the wildy days. That's the equivalent of playing every day for 2/3rds of a year for 24 hours a day... or playing 12 hours a day almost every day for basically two years. Haha.

And I probably have another 100 days on several other accounts. In fairness I did start back in 2003 or maybe 2004 when Rs2 was released.

Sorry if you don't want this thread becoming rs related btw. lol

Not really. Mostly just get drunk and grind levels these days.

Anyways, you say 240 days holy **** etc. and I agree, but please note the fact I'm rank 55,000 so there are 55,000 more people with less of a life than me.

Yeah, I know. I'm also working my ass off lately, so when I do get time off it's infinitely harder for me to play well because I rather do other stuff. Poker is fun and I enjoy it, but playing 2+ hours turns into work really quickly.

My last 3 shifts I've worked 13hr, 14hr and just last night worked 13.5hrs and got 3 phone calls while i was trying to sleep. I'm ****ing exhausted.

I work tonight, tomorrow, then have two days off, and then cover someone's vacation and I'll be working 7 days in a row and that will be almost 90 hours in 7 days. And it is a lot worse than it sounds.

I really don't know how people do it---work a bunch, balance real life and still get in good volume. They literally devote all their free time to poker and I'm just not going to take the - life ev to do that.
