I've played a couple sessions without posting, I feel like I've made a couple mistakes, but overall played very well. Working on my donking and x/r on flops and turns as PFR OOP. Going really well. I've realized how powerful the x/r is and I've definitely been missing value in a lot of spots as well as not balancing my checking ranges very well because I've not done this often.
I also cashed out another $1,000 and so my BR is now at $3,605. I'll be staying at 100nl for a while and that's okay with me. I've finally reached a stake where I can make some additional, albeit meager, income and still provide myself with the entertainment and thrill I gain from playing poker.
In other news, I've mentioned before that I've been stressed out without really mentioning why. The reasons are that I've had a multitude of smaller issues that have piled up into something large, and on top of this my car essentially broke down and I spent ~$1,000 fixing it. Even on top of THAT, my car recently (after fixing it) had its check engine light come again, which does not add to the ease of stress. Also, school has been demanding and as an engineer taking difficult classes and having difficult work and work loads, this doesn't help.
On the bright side, however, I'm currently on my spring break and look forward to getting a lot of things done, both poker and life related, and on top of that I'll be having a party out at my place next weekend. It's essentially the anniversary of my brother's bachelor party--- this will be the 4th time we've done it. What it is is basically a **** ton of drinking and partying. I live out in the country and we'll be getting a couple kegs (not pony sized
) as well has hard liquor and tons of food (pizza, ham, munchies, etc.) and a party bus going out to several bars around the area. This is all shared between about a dozen guys over a couple days. It's a weekend of hardcore partying! I'm looking forward to this
. Also, I'm in my senior year and will be applying to jobs and setting my eyes on moving on with my life--moving out of my Dad's house and becoming an adult.
As for my poker aspirations, they remain the same--crush, get better, and move up. My poker goals are almost entirely for entertainment value, although I have no doubts in my mind that I possess the capabilities to move and go pro (outside US). But, I admit, this lifestyle is not one that I believe is in the best of my interests and maintaining poker as a (mostly) hobby for entertainment is best.
Thanks, and time to play a session
