also sold my bitcoin for ~9800 today.
FFS why lol? If you have >12 months saved up, why sell the BTC when it's so cheap?

You need current emplpyment when applying to other jobs, it makes it exponentially easier. Do not listen to anyone that comes in and disagrees. They are wrong. This is something I am quite experienced in.
It's actually pretty simple.
{EV of staying in current job for 3 months while applying} = A
{EV of quitting immediately, grinding IG for a bit, taking ~10-15% pay cut when going back to work in a much better environment} = B
If B > A, then it's wrong to say "you need current employment when applying to other jobs".

If you truly want to quit and just play poler, whatever. Its a mistake, but whatever.
Again, what have I told you about speaking in absolutisms!

If you want another job, dont quit current. Just start not giving a **** and applying quite hard.
I did that at my previous job once I handed my 4 weeks in. It caused me to leave on pretty bad terms and therefore lost that reference. Which was fine because I'll never work in a similar place again, but might be valuable for Mas not to burn bridges and do it the right way.

6 Figures is a crazy arbitrary number... Where on earth was 6 figures plucked from? No one needs 6 figures sitting in the bank doing nothing, even if thoroughly unemployed.

12 months is obv way more than enough. Good on you for finally getting tf out. It's a decision I think you'll really struggle to regret.

But I'm telling you that when applying to jobs without a job you severly handicap yourself.
For one, the "why did you leave" or "why is there this gap" will be 50% of your interview. That's not good
For two, you dont have negotiating abilities. Companies generally pay 5-15% premium to your current base even for lateral transition. That disappears when you have no job. You get ladder pay.
For three, it may handicap your growth. This happened to me. Realistically you can apply to growth opportunites right now and cite that as one of your reasons for looking externally. Companies love to hear this. Put another way, I'm an analyst II. I have recruiters blowing me up for senior positions trying to "steal" me from my current employer. If i wasnt working, that wouldnt happen. I'd mostly have to apply laterally.
This is one of the best labor markets for job seekers in the last 20 years. You could have 3-4 good opportunities within a week if you just put yourself out there. Start on job sites like indeed, monster, careerbuilder. Then post to recruiter postings lile ranstad, parker and lynch, etc.
All of this is based on the assumption you have an engineering degree and several years experience...which I'm pretty sure you do. I remember you saying something along those lines.
This is actually a very good post.

@Mas I imagine now you're going to be grinding some reasonable volume since you'll be "relying" on the poker income. I have no idea how sustainable your current winrate is at 200 because obv the most recent one you posted is lol sample but if we think you're somewhere in the ballpark of 5-10bb/100, I'm sure you could make a verrrry competitive hourly that is probably higher EV than your current job.
Like 2x200 Zone tables, 200 hands per hour, @~6bb/100, $24/hr just two tabling using very conservative estimates. And you could throw in a few reg tables and maybe bumhunt some ACR as well as look at some of the apps to pretty easily double that hourly imo.
I know you're more career-focused than me but I think you underestimate how valuable your skill-set (ability as a poker player) can be if you utilize it maximally.
Will be tuning into the stream today, GL.
