no...

I work 12hr shifts so I effectively only work ~half the days in a year. This means a few days worth of vacation can get me a week off.

I put in 5 days of vacation and it is giving me 12 consecutive days off.

No plans.... just sleeping in, eating bad, and watching tv/video games. Nothing productive from my end. Haven't really wanted to play poker, but I've put in a few hours and made a couple hundred. Nothing big.

Of course there's a bit of hyperbole in there, but I like it anyways.
I wasn't judging my success by my high point. Not sure if you were saying I was or agreeing with my what I said.

No I didn't mean to imply that. Funny how agreeing with people on the internet is ambiguous if not clearly stated.

Not sure if this is lame or awesome. The older I get the more awesome it sounds.

Just watched the VOD for this pretty sick session. Also saw you ran kind of bad in a few big pots as well, was curious as to what your EV ended up being considering said was down a bunch at one point. Either way awesome steam and hope to see more soon. Keep up the good work.

Yeah dude, it's the internet...

Any money ran below ev was more than made up for with super sick runouts. Definitely ran super good.
11-08-2017 , 05:32 PM
Heh yea, I always wish there was like a "runout ev" line that showed how bad you're running (never good, who cares about running good. Thats just playing standard amirite?)

I think my runout line would be above ev in 2 sessions that I've played in the last 4 years.

I've had some absolutely stunning sessions where it doesn't matter how I play and I always seem to hit, but I've also had the converse of that be true in some of my sessions as well.

You mentioned on stream that you werent downloading hands during a large portion of your downswing. Do you not think then that this misrepresents your overall results in your database?

Yeah, i thought i missed a lot of hh, but it doesn't look like I missed as much as I thought I did. However, I missed a lot of hands in september/october that were very positive and a large portion of Jan as well i believe.
My database is short ~$5k profit atm for the year, so although it is definitely off it's actually lower than what it should be--not the other way around.

Also, in the grand scheme of things you're only missing "a blink of the eye" in terms of HH data over a lifetime.

The issue is those "blinks of an eye" are under-recorded consistently bc of the nature of being forced to download hands on ignition as opposed to just having them automatically download. I know this is not a unique case, no one wants to sign the phuck on to ignition 2 days after getting your butthole reamed to make sure you capture your 10 buy in loss. No, you take breaks and say phuck poker and forget about it for a month or whatever. It happens alot and is why I ignore bovada/ignition graphs in general.

None of this is a direct attack on op, he is clearly a very good player and is able to talk through hands in a way I haven't heard since David Benefield.

But a 25 bi downswing is pretty significant, and saying something like "well i missed winning months also" is just as bad. Take poker seriously or dont. Track all your hands or dont post graphs.

I don't take poker seriously. It is and always will be just a hobby. I can post whatever graphs I want in my own thread, though.

You can obviously post nothing but sloth gifs in your own thread, but the point is posting a $18k graph with $4k of downswing missing is misleading. Especially when you coach. I realize that didn’t happen as you ended up capturing alot of it, but the point still stands. I was really shocked and a bit disappointed in your drunken nonchalance of missing a 25bi downswing (you said it 2 separate occasions on stream and laughed it off)

When you post stuff like this...

it’s just a bit disappointing. You could easily say “don’t take that graph seriously, honestly I dgaf about downloading hands” which, funnily enough, would be my response.

As I’ve also stated, it is very clear from your lines and out loud thinking that you have put a lot of work into the game and also seem to have some raw talent as well (you deviate huge in certain spots, but I think they are very good deviations most of the time). Anyone familiar with my posting knows I tell people to stay away from poker 90% of the time, and I basically recommend your philosophy of being a recreational. However, I would tell you to take it more seriously. You could easily clip $30-$50k in a year, but you again just laugh it off and go with the recreational excuse. You will regret not putting in more volume 2-3 years from now.

It’s just constructive criticism, I have no idea why people react so negatively to this. You are young but one day you will realize that your critics are your friends, and your fans are often your very worst feedback loop.

I would as well. Seems like BrokenStars' biggest leak imo. What good is building a racecar if you don't have hopes of revving it up at Daytona?

You already got the racecar and you know it goes very very very fast and handles like a champ. Would be a shame to squander it for just another street race.

                      My 2cents.

                      Peace

What are you guys talking about? As long as I have known Brokenstars, well before this thread came out, he has never had any interest in having poker be anything more than a recreational activity. I asked him plenty of times about going pro or doing something with it, and every time he said that he wanted the steady income.

He has stated the same thing many times in this thread. It doesn't matter if anything in this thread is misleading or not, if he doesn't take it seriously or does. He is a talented, winning rec player who has a much higher earning potential outside of poker, and he seems perfectly content with that.
