Moving Up Stakes, 2015 and beyond

TLDR;

6-max NL

Goals:
1. Play 100nl profitably (50k+ hands w/ >0.00bb/100) by end of 2015
2. Study poker regularly
3. Play to the best of my ability (no tilt)
4. Post here weekly
5. Have fun

Information about me: Hi, my name is Mason and I'm currently 21 years old living in Iowa. I am in my senior year of college attending Iowa State University and getting my bachelors in Materials Engineering with a minor in Bioengineering. I plan on graduating this upcoming May in 2015 and getting into the real world. I have a girlfriend who I've been with for over 4 years.

I love poker and have played poker since I was about 15 playing home games with my brother (7 years older than me) and his friends. After playing in real life I quickly learned about online poker and played 100k+ hands for play chips on Absolute Poker reaching the 10 mil play chip count and reaching the "hall of fame". At the time I thought it was quite the achievement, lol. Since then I've been playing for real money online since I was about 17 completely recreationally. I lost several hundred dollars due to Black Friday on absolute poker, but in November of 2013 I deposited $100 onto Bovada with the goal of playing seriously and with the goal of being able to play 50nl profitably by the end of 2014. I started at 5nl and have moved up the stakes gradually. I've essentially reached my goal, but due to a massive downswing am currently playing 25nl and likely taking shots at 50nl soon.

The goal I have in mind is to be able to play 100nl profitably by the end of 2015. I also have other goals, such as trying live poker at a casino. I'll be watching videos, doing poker sweats, HH reviews, and posting on 2+2 often in order to become a better poker player.

Here are my graphs at the individual stakes I've played throughout this year (5nl, 10nl, 25nl, 50nl). Not all my hands are in here, but about 99% of them are. Unfortunately I'm over 40 buy ins under EV throughout the year, but looking to run above EV in 2015, haha.

5nl

10nl

25nl

50nl

Looking forward to keeping track of my progress and improving as a player through the next year. All constructive criticism, advice, and support is encouraged!

Thanks!

GL man!

Great to see someone else actually interested in getting better & not just trying to make all the $$$ right now, sure you'll be crushing 100nl if you keep at it.

I did about a 3hr session today playing two 25nl zone tables on Bovada. Ended up around +$85. Pretty happy with my plays. I made two mistakes that were apparent, but the EV difference isn't that much tbh so not overly concerned.

Grinded two 25nl reg tables and two 50nl reg tables, was really really slow night didn't get into many good spots. Had a couple spots where I re-squeezed and gii w/ AQ/AJ vs QQ/JJ and lost. Other than that was pretty boring night.

Re: Moving Up Stakes, 2015 and beyond

I think I played really well today, made one major mistake that cost me about $30, but other than that made some very good lay downs and good plays. I was getting into a lot of disgusting spots where I basically just tilted my head down and said ****. Ran into several coin flips and lost them. So, probably around 4BI below EV unfortunately.

        4 tabling 50nl reg

        5.5 hr session

        -$135

        BR: $1,493.17

I'll be posting my graph for November tomorrow morning.

So, here is november's graph which is a mix of mostly 25nl and at the end some 50nl. Although, I did grind some 5nl and 10nl for fun. Unfortunately, I ran about 14BI under EV... again... but as you can see it was a super solid month and am very happy about volume, gameplay, and of course results

If anyone is curious, my stats for the month in vpip/pfr/3b was 28.73/22.37/10.13

Here is November graph in BB

Here is November Graph in $$$$

Re: Moving Up Stakes, 2015 and beyond

I think it's important that I note what goals I have for December. December is a really really busy month for me with school, being an engineer I have a lot of projects and finals due in the next couple of weeks and then following that family events.

                                  Goals:

10k minimum hands, shooting for 15k hands
