$0 to $100 Ber-Month Challenge

I decided that I need a goal or challenge to help me focus in poker, so I posted a challenge in another forum about my $0 to $100 Ber-Month Challenge. I just played the $100K Freeroll tourney for few weeks and got around $10. Cool, I have $10 to start grinding the lowest stake. Within 5 days of grinding I made around $20+. Then on the 6th day I was down $10 but I was able to lessen the lost to $4. The 7th day went on tilt again and I lost all my bankroll in one day. I was so devastated on how tilt affects me. I tried stopping myself to play that day, but I end up playing and I was more aggressive than usual.

Second chance ALL-OR-NOTHING...

I deposit another $100 in PS and it went down to $60, deposited another $10 just for the $100k freeroll and went down to $49. I have a good run on MicroMillions last Friday, I won 141th in $1+R and 1600+ in the $4.40 making me earn $50+.

Though right now I'm still thinking what game time should I really focus but I easily get discourage when I lost and change to another game. Currently I'm focusing on MTT 45, 90 players. I won't be surprise if I lose someday and will switch to cash game. I read that cash game is the way to go to consistently win money and I notice that most successful online player are cash game players. Though I really want to focus on the MTTs and I don't know why.

Today I am writing my first post that after I finish my last freelance project I'll be focusing on playing poker online full-time. Though I still have a small web hosting business that gives me the money I need throughout the month. My last project is projected to be finish at the end of December of 2012. So starting 2013, I'll be focusing on my challenge... Becoming A Poker Pro.

Session #1

I had a good night rest woke up early around 4am and started grinding. Normally I play 15-20 table in cash game, I experience playing 9-12 tables of SnG but the maximum numbers of tables I played MTTs was 6. I easily get tired when I am playing 6 tables and for some reason I don't know why.

Since I woke up really early and felt like I'm in my A-Game, I open up my HUD, Tabledroid and configure my TableNinja SnG Sensei. At first I am having trouble running the app but after a few search I made it run. I set it to register for 6 $0.50 45-Players MTT and 6 $1.00 45-Player MTT.

Some of you might ask why the heck I'm playing on a $0.50 MTT with a $100+ BR. Honestly, I don't have an idea. Probably the fear of loosing it when playing the $1.00? I don't know, my BRM is 100BI but probably I'm scared that's why I tried testing the waters first.

After playing the whole 12 tournaments, I felt tired again. I decided to stop and take a rest and resume my play later in the afternoon, but it end up I don't feel like playing anymore so I just watch some High Stakes Poker S1.

Session #2

Like yesterday, I woke up early today feel like I'm on my A-Game in playing poker. Before I started playing, I calculated how many games should I play everyday if I'll be playing only 5 days a week. In order to reach 600 SnG until December 31, 2012. I need to play 26 MTTs everyday, 5 days a week excluding the Christmas vacations. I never realize that I need to play that much of MTTs per day. As I stated on my previous post that after playing 6-12 tables of MTTs for about 2 hours I feel exhausted and I don't know why.

Probably the difference between working as a freelancer and playing poker are even if I continue to design and code websites even if I'm tired eventually I can still finish the task, but when in poker when I'm starting to feel tired, I've the fear of not playing 100% and might loose the money I invested.

Moving on, I set the SnG Sensei to 26 tourney. Sadly the Table Ninja SnG Sensei is acting weird today and it won't open $0.50, just the $1.00. It first open 6 tables and the SnG Sensei stopped working, I have to start it again. It again opened 6 tables and stopped working and I start it again. After playing for an hour, I decided to stop the SnG Sensei as I am starting to tilt after some river beats plus the internet connection is acting up which is putting me on tilt.

On my last 3 final tables, I was disconnected several time but it didn't last that long but it was getting on my nerves. On the last table I'm on the heads up and my internet was disconnected and it lasted for about 10 mins but good thing the break as just started so I said I can still make it way up. Right after my connection came back, the table is now close.

I'm thinking if I'll play later but more likely I'll be reading The Metal Game of Poker or watch DC MTTs series.

Just to share some hands and river beats. I'm looking for advice and some leaks specially on the first two hands.

1. I'm UTG+1 8bb left. Is it a shove here or wait for a better spot?



2. First, I don't know why I didn't raise him pre-flop when he completed. Second when he raised me on the flop, I was thinking two things, one he is stealing the pot and two he's on a flush draw, that's why I reraised him, when he pushed all-in I'm thinking he's either has a 10 with a Ace kicker or on a draw, but if he has a 10 with a high kicker or a full house he would slow play me or just call my bet, so I called.

Session #3

Today I did not feel like playing MTTs, I wanted to play micro cash games but I was thinking that I need to reach 600 SnG/MTTs at the end of the year. So I tried motivating myself and end up playing $1.00 45-Players.

I set my SnG Sensei to register up to 30 tournaments but after playing for about 4 hours with 19 tournaments played and 5 tables remaining I decided to stop. I didn't felt that I'm getting exhausted or tired but I just got bored. I wanted to push until I played 30 tables but end up calling it a day.

I reach the money table in 6 out of 19 tourney that I registered and 3 of those I went heads up. I am frustrated that every time I go heads-up I only finish in 2nd. I really wanted to improve my heads-up play so is there any books that would help me? Articles, site or videos?

Moving on, I am happy with my session today. I'm improving in terms of numbers of tourneys played, not getting tired after playing 4 hours though I got bored afterward and lastly able to play 12 tables again.

Got some question in some hands that I play:

1. 12 players left, ITM is 7th place. Do I raise or shove preflop with only 15BB left? If raise, how much?

Session #4

Earlier today my target is to play 30 tables, with 18 tables simultaneously open. After having a series of badbeats, AK not hitting all-in shove, runner runner straight and bad calls I decided to stop playing.

With 12 buy-ins I only reach the 1 ITM and bust out at the 3rd place leaving me with $-5.25 in my BR. I reassessed my games and review my hands. Sadly SnG Wizard just expired today so all I have is my Hold'em Manager to review my hands with.

I watched some PokerStars Online Academy videos but it was a bit boring so I stopped after the first video and watch High Stakes Poker S3. As I watch I decided to play another session. This time my goal is to complete the 30 MTTs games for today.

After playing for about 10 tables I felt tired and sleepy probably because I'm sitting in front of the computer for more than 10hrs. So I call it a day with a nice comeback.

Also I finally won 1st place in the $1 45-players, though it was just luck I'm still happy. I'm still looking for suggestions for HU plays.

Session #5

I slept late last night and wok up a bit tired. I tried playing another session of $1 45-man MTTs and set it to play only 15 games. I ran good for the first hours and reach 4 ITMs, I felt confident and satisfied and starting to play crazy. After few minutes of playing confided and crazy I decided to stop at 13 games as it is affecting my game play. Calling all-in with AQs, pushing 55 after a shove in front of me.

I though I have a good ROI and after checking my winnings I was shocked that I am only +$0.32. So I began playing tight again but it is too late since I only have 3 tables left. I made several bad plays in my second table which made me bust-out on the 10th place. I didn't know that it's only 10 players left if only I knew that I play tighter.

I didn't think to much playing aggressive in the bubble today which gives me advantage of bullying but also cost me some of my chips and losing bulk of my stacks.

I won't be playing later today as I'll be focusing in my freelance projects. As soon as I finish my projects by December I'll be focusing full time in online poker.

I'm also buying Hand History review from a 2+2 coach today which I hopeful will help me improve my game play.

Session #6

I was expecting this to happen for the past few days. I hit a downswing after being up for a few days. For some reason all my outs and draws won't complete. I was ahead for several all-in situation but always lose.

I played 15 tables and none made the ITM worst none made the final table. I'll be calling it a day and will be reviewing my session for today.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a different day.

Hi again everyone,

It has been 7 long years. I have not been active in poker since the last time I updated this thread. Became busy with my own life. Poker became irrelevant. Setup an online business and it's doing great and it made me financially free. It has been generating passive income since I left poker.

Earlier last month I was browsing YouTube and came across some poker videos, I don't know how I end up there. My interest in poker went back. I install Pokerstars and Party Poker. To my surprise I still have my bankroll in PS but PP took my money due to inactivity. I played few games and fell in love with it again. I started my poker blog at PokerStrategy but it lacks feedback.

Yesterday, I searched "AloofKid Poker" in Google and I found this thread. I was laughing and a bit crying at the same time as looking back how far I am now with my goals in life.

I want to go play poker again, I have the luxury of free time. I am more mature in terms of BRM and my eagerness to learn and becoming a Poker Pro is still in my mind. Though if that day came, I can't tell the anyone that I know that I play poker online. It conflicts with my religious belief

Though for me poker is not 100% gambling like the other games in casino. For me, poker is like a business, you need to be dedicated and master your craft to be good at it. Yes, luck may be helpful at times but luck and gamble are two different things, which is why I still play poker.

Last month I created a new PokerStars account deposited $20 in my bankroll as a start for my journey. I want a new challenge but not the extreme ones. Just want to build myself slowly and make it to the top.

Since I deposited my first $20, I now have $58.70, but someone pointed out in PokerStrategy that it is against their ToS to have two accounts that's why they suspended my new account and put all my money to my old account. I do have $168.19 as of typing this post but I'll always remove $110 in my challenge and will only include it if I've reached $1,000.

So, there are some goals at the start of this thread that I've already achieved, but it's not because of being a successful poker player but because of my business.
