I see what you're saying. My thoughts are that, even in a 3-bet pot when we bet relatively small we induce bluffs/semi-bluffs more. Hence when we bet larger we still get value while making our opponent play a lot more straightforwardly.

Then again I've got exactly zero hours of $5/10 so take my opinion for what it's worth haha.

This was in the first hour, probably neutral. Played one big pot up to his point where I cbet/called a raise on Q69hhx, c/r 3h turn, shoved 4o vs a fish.

I show down KT and lose to AJ

^ that was from the Micros (online cartoon series). If you haven't seen it I recommend you do. Thought it was hilarious.

I think rec some players may take this line with mid-high pairs with the logic of "got a safe flop" or "need to protect against AK and flush draws". I decide to shove with the spr how it is. He has 67o and I hold.

I'm ahead of pace with hours. Looking forward to an overnight trip I'm taking next weekend. Would be ideal if I can get 20 for the two full days I'm there. Played a session yesterday just under 6. Definitely had some spots I thought were tough. Here is your HH of the day:

I open AA 35 utg+2, HJ (2.3k eff, guy in his late 20's, unknown to me, no real reads) 3bets to 105, I 4bet to 260, he calls.

Flop($535): K35
check, check

Turn($535): 4
I bet 275, he raises to 675. He has ~1300 behind

Yuck. That's a really gross spot. Assuming he will turn AK into a bluff OTR, yes? He has 3 KK combos and 6 AK combos in his range so I think we have to at least call and soul read the river.

Personally I'm a big fan of binking a deuce on the river. I think that's the best plan.

Re: Moving up in 2016 - 400 hours at 5/10

I would 4! larger to 300, as played calling turn and c/c river might be the best play. I wonder if he check AK on the flop to slow play and then try to raise the turn? I also wonder why he would decline to bluff the flop but instead bluff the turn? Nothing makes sense! Andees- nice call with the red Aces, do you think that he plays other hands in his range the same way?

Not saying it isn't button clicking, but what kind of hand range are we giving a random 5/10 player when he calls a 4 bet pre and raises is ott? I'd call and force him to play chicken on the river.

The million dollar question. This isn't really the standard way to play anything but to me KK taking this line makes the the most sense in terms of a value hand. Why would AK want to bluff?

Re: Moving up in 2016 - 400 hours at 5/10

Put in an overnight trip this past weekend. Games were good and I was able to play 20 hours over 2 sessions. My first session I ran hot and thought my play was fine. Here is an example: Omc who i've played some 2/5 with opens for 50 utg, 1 fish calls, I 3bet 200 otb w/ AA. Omc asks me how much I have and I tell him about 2.2k. He then starts thinking really hard like he's calculating if he can profitably set mine. Both call and the flop comes Q97 two-tone. OMC leads out 400 into 600, fish calls, and every ounce of instinct I have is telling me I'm beat. I really wanted to fold, but couldn't. I know he's never bluffing, but if he's ever doing this with top pair like AQs or something, folding to a single flop bet (especially with the better price with fish in there) is terrible. I call and an off-suit A falls on the turn. He insta ships 1300, fish folds, and he has 99. I know, it's obnoxious how good I run. I love how some people get so results oriented with strategy when they lose a big hand. After he asked me if I would have folded to a flop c/r, as if his goal in the hand was to get me to fold so I couldn't suck out. Then he said I was hoping you would raise the flop with an over pair to see where you were at, then fold to an all in.

Later on in that session I had kind of an awkward situation. One of the whale's in the game table changed. The game seemed to die down, so I got on the waitlist to sit at the whale's game and was eventually moved there. As I sit down at the table he starts yelling (he's drunk) "MAN WHY YOU BUM HUNTING ME! Stop bum hunting me man!" LOL, normally I'm quick in these situations but this time I didn't know what to say. All that came out was "Ahhhh, ummm, I'm not bum hunting you ". It was weird that I had a feeling this was going to happen with this guy. I talked myself into changing in the first place because I figured it's not worth sitting in a worse game because i'm embarrassed someone MAY think I'm hunting them down. At the end of the day he wasn't a reg in the casino so all that matters is the ev in that given night (from my perspective). It was weird he was using poker lingo words and explaining to me why he's "playing super lag", "limp-calling like a whale", etc.

The second session I played on Saturday didn't go as well. I think my play was good for the most part with the exception of one hand when I made an ill advised double barrel with no equity in a 3bet pot after the pfr checked. We were 3way on the flop and I clearly should have just given up. I definitely should have given up after the flop went check/call. I think this was my biggest mistake. It was really hard to focus during that session because I slept a total of 3 hours the previous night. Went to bed at 2am Friday night and woke up at 5am Saturday morning, started my session at 7am with the people playing through graveyard shift. Getting through 10 hours on Saturday was tough. I think in live poker battling yourself can be one of the most important skills to have. Folding for hours on end and not forcing anything just because you're bored or w/e other reason can be very difficult. Just open folding hands preflop was extremely painful for me in this session for whatever reason. I still succeeded in folding them, but i'm just saying it wasn't easy. I know some might be reading this and think "well just don't play when you're tired or tilted". Yes in a perfect world I'd be in a perfect mental state every time I put in a session. But, I drove a long way to the casino and booked a hotel. The game only runs on certain days. Quitting is not an option sometimes. Being disciplined and powering through sessions when you're not feeling your best is another important skill that will only get better with practice.

Re: Moving up in 2016 - 400 hours at 5/10

I've played about 35 hours since my last update. I think my play has been mildly decent. Definitely made some mistakes that have bothered me for days/weeks after the session. Yesterday I played 6 hours and there were 2 hands in particular that have me cringing every time they cross my mind. Trying to be honest ITT so i'll describe them below.

1st hand: 3 limpers, I complete J7 in the sb, bb checks. Flop 893 I check, bb bets 1/2 pot, 2 calls, I call. Turn 4, checks through. River T. I lead for almost pot, mp min raises (middle age asian rec player reading a book who I have have seen do some interesting btn clicking), I fold. Pretty terrible fold imo

2nd hand: I open A9o in CO, mawg calls btn, bb calls. Flop: 622r. bb cks, I cbet 50 into 110, btn calls. Turn 2 completes rainbow. I check, btn looks at his cards carelessly, flashes a 4 and bets 95 into 210 with a little under 1k behind. I c/r to 300, he calls. River 4 ck, ck he has 64o. I guess this one isn't that bad with the knowledge he has 4x. I think I can shove a lot of high card rivers.

Hand of the week: MP limps, CO limps, btn makes a pot sweetener to 35, I go 135 w/ K:K, MP l/4bets to 350 with ~1600 behind (loose mawg rec player, spewy/stationy though i've never seen him limp/4bet), btn folds, I call. Flop J95. I ck/call 300. Turn K I check, insta ships, I call and he doesn't table his hand so I just fastroll. I guess he had aces because he said "I knew I should've shoved the flop".

Comments, questions, nonconstructive criticism, trolls are all welcome.
Thanks for reading
