What's up guys?

Played a couple tournaments last night with no luck. Busted in level 6 of the 500 GTD shoving 55 with 6 BBs left in the CO and got called by BB with K6o and he spiked a 6 on the flop.

Then had an interesting hand where it was BvB in the 4K. I was BB and it folded to SB who min opened. I call my option with KTo. Flop of AA7 checks through. Turn is a 9 and SB checks. I bet 2 BB and he calls. River is another 9 and he checks. I bet 5 BB and he jams. I call and he has AA for flopped quads lol.

That's all she wrote last night guys. Good luck to you all!

What's up guys?

After getting beat down pretty badly the past few days, I decided to go back to the beginning of this challenge and the other thread's bread & butter --> sit n goes

I haven't played these in a while, so I started at the bottom level. I was playing $0.50+.05 9 max SNGs. With the way global is, I can't multi reg a bunch of the same SNGs at once, so I was just registering for one regular speed and one turbo at the same time. Once I got the turbo going, I would register for another one right away.

Had about 2-3 tables going at the same time for a few hours. Played 15 today and cashed in 7. It was weird, though. I was either first or third when I cashed. No second places today. I guess it's because I was getting a lot more aggressive on the bubble and ITM. I was playing to win, so I was getting a lot more hands in pre against the blinds. That seemed to work though!

It helps that these games are super soft, and it's not too hard to spot the fish and just pound on their exploitative over folds near the bubble. Anyways, ended up 6 buy ins for these after the 15 I played, so that's alright with me.

Good luck out there, guys!

Hey guys,

Played 10 more SNGs tonight. Cashed in 4 of them -- 3 1st place finishes and 1 2nd place.

They are the $0.50+0.05 ones though, so it's pretty soft.

Between today and yesterday, I have played 25 with 11 cashes and an ROI of 47% lol

That's all for today. Going to be looking into figuring out how to use ICM a little better.

Good luck guys!

What's up guys?

Not much going on over here. I have been playing a couple tournaments a day until my disposable income can replenish my roll. So far, I have been making deep runs but getting my butt kicked in the bubble stage. For instance, just tonight I was playing a $4k GTD tournament.

310ish entrants and 85 remaining. I get KK in MP with blinds at 600/1200 with a 120 ante and 9 handed. I have 30k behind.

UTG limps with a 33k stack. I bump it up to 5400. LP 3 bet jams for 18k. MP folds and of course I call it off. He has AcQd. Flop is 4xJcTc. Turn is an As. River is a blank and i get crippled. Get it in a few hands later BvB with KTs vs QT and he hits the queen.

I have been doing better at these tournaments. I am a lot more aggressive in the mid stages to help build myself a stack. But then it seems I get a super premium hand and get stacked by something worse. I mean I have 80%+ equity here and can't hold.

Another tournament (6 max).
I have 33 on the BTN with 4k and blinds at 50/100. UTG opens to 400, MP calls, I call and have them both covered. UTG has been very aggressive btw.

Flop comes AT3r. You see where this is going.

UTG bets pot, MP calls, I stick it in there. Both call.

UTG shows AKo and MP shows AJo.

Turn is a J, River is a Q.

That's just how I seem to run in these all in scenarios. I mean I was a 92% favorite on the flop there i believe as i just checked the equities. I just feel like complaining about running bad.

I have played probably 12 tournaments since my last post and seem to be bubbling them all. I get these hands where I get it in good to put me in position for final tables and possibly big cashes but then i can't hold to close it down. Frustrating.

Oh well, that's the variance of tournaments i suppose. Good luck guys!

What's up guys?

Global wasn't letting me log on today, so I put $50 onto ACR to get back in the mix. I was hopping all over the place. Played a few tables of PLO5 and was off to a hot start. Lost a bit of that back in Hi/Lo and then went to NL2. Was playing 9 max and doing alright.

I happened to be just about even for the day after being up a few BBs and semi-bluffing the river with the NF blocker and a middle pair. Then we get a cooler and i call it quits for the day. Since I was on ACR, I was able to track the hands I played. Here's the cooler.

Overall, I still made a couple bucks on the day and played really well except for one costly hand, but I'm not an NL player anymore. Thus, I still have some leaks to get out. But, that's why Im only playing NL2!

Hope you guys are doing well and running hot! See ya!

What's up everybody?

Played a little NLO2 on accident this morning when I had my no limit holdem filters set and switched to look at the omaha lobby. Got into a soft 9 max table that was 3 handed and stacked a couple guys for their min buys. Didn't play too many hands though as the game broke when they got stacked and left.

Hopped into some 9max NL2 games and got about 350 hands in. Ended up breaking even at +$0.01 lol at that! I was down about 50 bigs early on after some weird hands and then climbed back to get up 50 bigs and then I made a mistake by misreading the board and not seeing the obvious straight that cost me the hand and put me back down to basically zero.

I was on ACR, so I have some hands for you! Here we go.

Villains VPIP is 54 and his PFR is 44. So, I can raise the flop IP, but I want to keep his worse hands in so I just flat. Turn is good for me and a decent card for his wide range as well as he can be raising with worse two pairs, overpairs, SDs, and the occasional set. But, given how wide his range is, I want to put in the raise here to get value on his draws and not let him have a free card to improve should he have the overpair or SD. He ships it and of course I call this loose of a player with top 2. He has the middle PP and his 23% on the turn becomes 100% OTR as the straight comes in.

I am never playing this hand if I have to call a PF raise, but it gets limped to me in the BB. I don't really see much reason to bet this hand OTF as I my range sucks and villain will most likely not fold seeing as I probably don't have a K in my hand. The 4 comes on the turn and I think now I can bet since if i was ahead on the flop i am likely still ahead. I think folding to the raise here is what I should have done, but I wasn't believing he had the K here and i totally did not see the straight come in as I was in another big hand on a different table. I only noticed the flush card come, so I thought villain may be on the FD or Have a hand like A4, A2, A5, etc. River is just bad as my mistakes earlier lead to costlier mistakes on this street. Still, not seeing the straight, i come in for the check rizzle with the rivered trips and think I am definitely good as i beat overpairs, the FD missed, and I am not worried about boats as this guy would be a lot more aggressive if he made the set.

This hand was just bad, but I wanted to post it as an example of what happens when you aren't paying attention. Somehow, he doesn't raise, which is A-OK with me haha but there you go.

Overall, I would say I played this session well for the most part. I think I will go down to 3 tables of NL until I am totally comfortable there. 2 tables of PLO is enough for me on this site though. But, I am not going off range charts as I think a lot of hand selection is going to depend on who I am playing against.

There is no point in limiting myself to a 10% range in MP if EP is limping or raising 30%+ hands. I am missing out on a positional advantage as well as skill advantage. I am no Phil Ivey, but it's not hard to beat this bottom tier game.

I have been working on my game a lot outside of the table. Reading more books, watching more videos, and podcasts have helped. I can sometimes listen to headphones at my job (discreetly of course), and so I have been listening to poker podcasts for about 20 hours a week this past month. So, it may be passive, but it's better than nothing.

Hopefully, grinding out these hands will help me improve and move up to .02/.05 or at least help me get my confidence back for live 1/2NLHE as I have been mostly playing FL mix games at the casino lately. But, those podcasts have reignited the spark for NL!

Sorry for the essay! Just have a lot to talk about since I haven't been as active as I usually have been.

Good luck out there guys!

After the fact reviews of the last hands I posted:

1) low sample on villain with only 7 hands, but i think a 3bet pre is fine. I believe i didn't as JJ is at the middle-lower end of the 3b range for me. the rest of the hand seems pretty standard as the villain is betting such a small amount on each street. MAYBE i get him to fold if i bomb the river, but i also am only getting called by better like Qx+, maybe TT+ but probably all overpairs too.

2) i could lead flop, but there are turn cards like 4s, 6s, and 7s, that can help me since the board is rainbow. OTT i think i am getting raised by overpairs, NF/SFDs and 89 or other pair + type hands. It's unlucky he will have a 6 as there are 3 out there already. another small sample on villain, i think i just have to call off as i am not drawing dead and have a made hand already. Plus, I don't think a hand like T7 is checking this flop as there are cards like Js and Qs that can crush them on the turn.

3) happy to get this in here and i was definitely shocked to see what the guy had lol. I think premium aces are 3 betting, and i have seen guys like this who take this line with QQ & KK. I don't think im folding this here though as there are so many draws.

4) bad spot. I think if we bet on the flop or turn i can get information to help me get away from it. My huge river bet was for value and to look like a bluff, but then i am priced in when i get jammed on with a pretty solid hand. Tough, but i played it poorly and that's why i get stacked

I think that I should bet flop, but as played after the flop I am glad to have made the call. Definitely played this too passively, but I didn't want to blow him off the hand by donking a big bet in on the flop.

Speculative limping in pre, but i end up turning 4 pair. So, of course i blast off on the river when the obvious flush draws miss. I think it was very risky since I don't block JT, but I don't think checking was the right play here either. So, i took the aggressive line and it worked.

The hand played itself. I could have flatted the raise, but this guy was playing pretty tight so I knew he had something he'd find a call with. Unfavorable runout, but that's what happens sometimes. Also, these weren't the best aces, so I will have to think about this again vs tight opponents. But come on. Its aces.

I decide to check turn rather than jamming as these types of bottom set hands have burned me before vs big draws. I decide to call flop and if the turn doesn't help the high SD or pair the ace I am shipping it. I missed value if a blank river hit, but I deny equity of getting squashed by a high card river, so it works for me.

I think i call the PF 3bet since this guy is in the blind and has started getting pretty active in the past few orbits on other tables in the blinds vs steals. Also, I mean my hand isnt terrible, but i think its a lot worse defending vs a 3 bet. Anyways, it checks down to river and I make the call as i boat up. Flush and Straight are out there, but i think vs a 3 bet i should be folding as he can have any Ax type hand and fill up. Too bad it was quads!

Thats the session recap! Ended up winning about 9BB/100 tonight, which means all of my PLO sessions on ACR in October were victories! I still had that bad NLHE night, though. So, I am even on the month with the help of rakeback.

Have a good night, guys!

What a freaking night.

Got into some PLO5 this evening. Really just a terrible night. I was playing decently, but there were a few issues.
1) I quickly learned there was a megafish at the table who called down 90% of hands to showdown. He wasn’t raising ever unless he had it. I mean the dude was something like 87 VPIP and literally 0 PFR. I was OOP on this guy early on, but switched my seats after I realized what was going on. Unfortunately, he stacked me when I flopped top set and rivered a 7 high flush and he had some stupid hand with the 8 high flush. Like 823A with 83s. Changed it around and exploited that but then…
2) I could not hold a freaking hand today. Like above, I was getting it in with the best. I mean I had one hand that I will post below where I was 95% on the turn and we get it in and the guy spikes a 2 outer on the river.
3) Card dead the first hour and was folding just about every hand and losing a lot of BBs, but I know each hand is independent so I was just waiting it out.

Just not my night. I don’t want to do any more ranting, but it’s exhausting. Here’s some hands.

I X flop as the only thing that hurts my hand is a board-pairing turn card, and I want to keep the worse hands in. Of course, the turn pairs so I X again since Im only getting called by boats or chops here. River is an ace and since turn X’d through I think im good, but nope. I didn’t jam since I knew he wasn’t bluffing, but he took this same line earlier on a Q high straight that we chopped, so there’s that. No love.

Clearly, this is not the greatest hand to be PF jamming. But, this guy had a 79 VPIP and 3B of over 30%. He was a maniac, and this hand is far superior to some of the crap he had been giving PF jam action with. It’s unbelievable. He jammed something like J645 and rivered a straight on some guy and a similar thing 2 hands later. I knew he was willing to get it in bad, so that’s what I went for. I was a slight PF favorite, but it’s just a flip I lost for 30 something BB.

Loose PF call again, but facing a looser PF opponent who has been loving to pile it in with draws and such. We get it in with a set vs basically a pair and he boats up. Unlucky when he hits the 2 outer.

So there’s the documentation of my runbad.

I will admit that it seems PF hand selection was a problem. Sure, I ran bad. But, if I stuck with higher equity PF hands then I would have avoided most of these situations. That said, I mean come on I got 2 outered lol.

Still had some good plays worked in tonight, but I was just grinding it out and being pretty aggressive when I noticed weak spots. That got me back up at the end of the session. 500 hands played tonight. That’s all, guys. Good luck!

End up betting so small on the turn for value of course. Call it off on the river for 1 – price and 2 – I can still have the best hand even though it’s non nutted. Just one of the weird spots I was put in today.

Decide to take a donk pot bet here on the flop as the ace hits my opponents ranges way more than mine as I have been raising almost all the aces I am playing PF and numerous other reasons. I have shown down some weaker hands after potting (much smaller pots like 3BBs) in the past against this guy though. I continue pounding away to look like a FD or something and he continues to call. I feel like I’m good, but can overbet to look like I missed OTR and it pays off to get a relatively light calldown by top pair weak kicker.

This guys has been targeting the blinds a lot the past few orbits, and he has shown a wide range from LP (wider than he should), but he also has been folding to 3Bs a lot. So, I go for it as the BB is pretty passive and I don’t think he will be a problem. If BB re raises, I fold. So we flop middle pair and I don’t think the 9 is scary enough to slow down. I check the river to get to showdown (hopefully for free), but then the guys sticks it in raw. I tank into the time bank and call it off as I just don’ t believe his story here. Hero call works and we get his stack.

Got lucky haha that’s why you don’t limp with a suited ace in EP guys!

Overall, happy with the session of course. I don’t really know which I like more. Making quads, getting a river bluff/jam through, or hero calling a river jam with a pair of 4s lol. Good game today! Good luck guys!

What's up guys?

Been crazy swamped with projects and stuff before Thanksgiving break, but I've been averaging about 200 hands a night of full ring NL2. Doing pretty well there as I added in a major element to my game that I had just not even used before. Still learning as I go, but making some progress. I'll post some hands sometime this week. Keep grinding!

I’m still alive and playing. Started actually winning over the last 10k+ hands of NLHE. I haven’t played much plo lately.

Not posting on here often for a couple reasons, but I’m still working on my game and getting better. Hope you guys are all doing well!

Been having a lot of swings lately, and I am fully ready to acknowledge that I have some problems. Got the mental game of poker and have been going through that. it's definitely worth the $25-30. I realize I have desperation tilt where I try to do anything to book a win, but that ends up in playing super long sessions and then I start playing bad at the end anyways. That, or I start playing stakes way too high and inevitably bust the role.

So, back to square one as of last week as I got into a PLO200 game and got in 3 ways pre with AAK4ds and lost.

I just need to write about that to kind of get it in permanently that I completely F-ed up there and it cost a lot. Yeah, I got it in good, but you can't expect to put it all on the line and come out ahead all the time. You know, because of that thing called variance.

So, Im just trying to control myself now and keep what i have and grow it week by week in conservative ways. Im back to 2NL and playing 6max about 6-9 tables at a time or playing 1-2 tables of 2PLO. I feel really good about my NL game and am winning about 15BB/100 over the last 10k hands, but I don't have enough to move up without risking too much.

Just the update post, but I figured I'd get it down so I can move on.

Still love the game and have an obsession with getting better and moving up, but I have to take this more seriously if I ever want to actually make something of this. I can't let myself build and build to dump it ALL away on one session. I will be more responsible from here on out, and I am excited to see what the future brings!
