No doubt about it, my cash game skills aren't that great. However, my Omaha cash game skills are superior to my NL for some reason. I have studied NL a ton, but I just couldn't get a foothold. I had a bad downswing in the SNGs when I was playing those consistently. I decided to go back to PLO and apply my NL theory with 2 extra cards. With a combination of game selection and patience I have found a great increase in my profitability in PLO.

I like SNGs, but I can't really get the volume in that I need. I start losing my edge when I multitable.

I appreciate the feedback!

Hey, guys

Another brief session today as I worked this morning - evening and had some things to do for preparation for the upcoming semester as well as running errands. I was single tabling PLO and NL Omaha for the session. Started at PLO5 but noticed a fish who was up at PLO25 (7.50 cap) and jumped in there immediately and waited my turn. I was down $6 in the PLO5 game but stacked the fish with top two on a good read and finished my session up $5.87. All the way unstuck.

Between running well and game selection, I am very satisfied with how my PLO games have been going this month! Thanks for reading, and I hope you guys are running well!

BR is up to $279

Just another bad beat to add to the hundred we have gotten this week.
You were behind preflop

You were behind on the flop and called a pot sized bet with a gutshot/back door with terrible reverse implied odds.

You were behind on the turn and called a bet with poor odds for a baby flush on a paired board.

You were behind on the river and got stacked.

And your analysis is that amounted to a "bad beat". Holy ****

It is neither a bad beat nor a cooler. Just a calling station spewfest.

I would advise:

Stick to one game format and learn it.
Spend way less time playing and way more time off felt studying and analysing.
Get on top of the basics of both mental game and technical play.
cut down all the word in your pgc and just post actual hands, using a replayer, so you can learn from all the helpful peeps on here.

Currently, you are doing a lot of stuff wrong and it will end in tears.

In that post with these hands:

AJ can’t hold v A6o, A6 beat by 34o in a 4 bet PF pot with 25KA4 runout
AQ < AT all in pre with runout J8759
AA vs T9o 5 bet pre and all in with 99JK9 runout
A7 < 45 all in as short stack and called
all in on flop of 7h3h7c with 97s vs T8h and he rivers flush
J7s v AQo all in on flop of 7JQ with Q4 runout

I am pretty sure that Aces beat by T9o all in pre with him hitting quads is what would be referred to as a "cooler" or "bad beat". Half of the hands from this session are listed above, and clearly I get it in ahead. A majority of these hands, based on BBs, were the correct call when I look at the BB jamming/calling charts.

Yes the 34s hand wasn't correct.

I appreciate the constructive criticism but don't just come here to talk garbage.

hey guys I am about to start a session but I had to contact support on ACR. I have been having days where I would play big sessions but the next day not have any rakeback to claim so they helped me realize it was automatically credited to your account if you don't claim it by Wednesday. Just thought that info might help somebody else experiencing the same thing.

Let's get this session going!

Whats up guys?

Just wrapped up a brief session of table hopping Omaha variants. Chased a fish around and was up a bit at NLO5. He had open jammed 6 hands in a row and I was waiting my turn to bust him. Woke up with AKJT ds and called his open jam and he had 7652 single suit and we rivered the nut flush.

Not so much luck at a different table.

Here's something new! A hand history directly from PT4. Here's the hand that I ended the session with:

Winning Poker Network (Yatahay) - $0.05 NL Hi - Omaha Hi - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

MP: 147.8 BB (VPIP: 48.39, PFR: 16.13, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 32)
Hero (CO): 91.6 BB
BTN: 71 BB (VPIP: 63.64, PFR: 18.18, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 12)
SB: 578.4 BB (VPIP: 56.06, PFR: 22.73, 3Bet Preflop: 4.76, Hands: 67)
BB: 182 BB (VPIP: 28.57, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 7)
UTG: 165.8 BB (VPIP: 74.05, PFR: 25.95, 3Bet Preflop: 10.00, Hands: 132)

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K T A Q

fold, MP raises to 8 BB, Hero calls 8 BB, BTN calls 8 BB, SB calls 7.6 BB, BB calls 7 BB

Flop: (40 BB, 5 players) 4 T J
SB checks, BB checks, MP bets 139.8 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 83.6 BB and is all-in, BTN calls 63 BB and is all-in, SB calls 139.8 BB, fold

Turn: (466.2 BB, 4 players) 7

River: (466.2 BB, 4 players) 6

Overall, I think it was a loose call but we had 13 outs facing the jam plush the BD nut flush draw. The implied odds were too big for me to fold facing all the action on such a dry flop.

Ended the session up $0.78, which is a bit frustrating since I was up the whole time but lost on the flip. That's the great game of Omaha though! Happy to book another win, no matter how small. As an older guy said during one of my first live sessions "If you chase straights and flushes, from your pockets money gushes" (he later stacked me with the straight flush when I rolled over Ace high flush).

I have the day off tomorrow, so I have been going back and forth with going to the casino to play some full ring 1/2 NLHE. The live games there during the day are usually full of older gentlemen, one or two grinders, and the occasional crackhead (no joke, the crack nail is a dead giveaway!).

If ACR will let me deposit -- been having issues with my card being either blocked or pre approved lately even though it has worked before -- I will play some 25c/50c or something, but if not I will probably head out to the casino and see what happens for fun.

Hopefully you guys are running well and getting it in ahead!

BR climbing slowly but surely. Up to $282.55

It was the Th6h hand and my analysis was spot on. My advice was sincere and the same as any 2+2 reg would give you. if you feel it is garbage, rock on and GL. I'll not bother you again, but I'll leave you with one final thought - take it or leave it idc.

Listing hands where you feel you are sucked out on only reflects and reinforces your own cognitive bias - there will be many hands where you do the reverse to villain and that is part and parcel of poker every **** day. Banging on about it just reinforces the notion that runbad = bad luck, rungood = skill, and all the while you are doing that you are learning **** all.

GL @ PLO, Oilspill!

FB54 does have a point regarding review of your own hand histories. When you look at them, think as if someone else had played the hand and then think how you would advise them to play the hand. That's what I try to do at least and it allows me to remain objective and impartial about even my own game. Self-awareness is so critical.

I hopped into a hyper turbo $2 heads up PLO SNG following that brief tournament and won that thankfully. That was definitely high stress! He kept clicking back to me instantly so it felt like it was always my turn.

Also, I was browsing the other PLO SNGs and in the nosebleeds I saw __FullFlush1__ which I believe is Luke Schwartz. One day I hope to be able to be rolled for those levels so I can felt him for the supreme leader Douglas K Polk.

Decided to head back over to the cash games for some PLO10 and go from there. Doubled up early on and then lost a mid size pot with top set all in on the flop with a flush hitting the river, which doubled up the resident short stack and put my day’s winnings to $2.50.

Current bankroll status is $285 and some change.

Total rakeback earned since switching over to the program the first of this month is a little over $12

Going to a car show today with my dad that's out of town so I will be gone until this evening. It's a lot of walking, and it's going to be warm out, but I still am eager to mix it up in the cash games. Looking forward to the show and playing some poker tonight. Run hot everyone!

Hey guys,

I just played another brief session after the car show, which was awesome by the way. I tried out some NL Omaha at 1c/2c to see how "gambly" it was, and it was quite swingy. I got stacked, then I stacked someone, and I got stacked again. I hopped up to some capped PLO at 10c/25c and played one hand and got quite lucky chasing a monster draw all in on the flop with a million outs to the nuts it seemed. That hand will be posted below after the rest of this post.

Up $6.78 on the session, which moves the bankroll in the positive direction once again!
BR is now up to $292.70! Almost tripled in under 3 months, which is what I am talking about! I am very excited to break 300. The goal is to have a $300 roll in one week and to have 400 by the end of next month, which is more than doable.

I think the short sessions are helping me increase my winrate. I have instituted a win-stop when up a certain amount. I noticed in the past I would build a stack up over 2-5 hours and then lose it all in one hand, which was super frustrating. This may not be what works for everybody, but it is helping me to be more disciplined and in turn build confidence with booking consistent wins.

As promised, here is the monster (to me) hand from this session:

BTN had QsAhTd5c (not sure why pt4 didn't get this in the forum copy option) and we won $17.21 pot

we were 39% favorite vs 4 other players on the flop with 9 spade outs and 3 8s with backdoor straight draws all over the place. when we got it heads up, we were a 60/40 favorite. I didn't see his hand until after the runout and I was very anxious hoping he didn't have a hand like AKK9 or 6699 or something like that. Luckily, we got the right runout and that's that.

Good luck out there guys, and I hope you can run hot!

Hey guys,

I woke up early this morning to my girlfriends alarm and couldn't go back to sleep, so naturally I got on ACR and played some Omaha. I noticed a 6 max NLO5 table with 2 players, one who is an agro fish, and jumped in to his immediate left. I bought in short because I knew I would be jamming against him with a big suited pair and he would call with 80% of hands but if I was beat I would lose less than a full stack. Operation short stack worked and I made $1.99 in 30 hands.

Also, I did some math and found I have deposited a total of 170 for this challenge (70 for shot taking tournaments) and lost 66.76 in tournament fees, so the BR is quite accurate according to the actual challenge line.

BR up to $294.69. That $300 goal is looking closer and closer.

Barring an act of God, I will be playing again this evening after work. Maybe we can hit that 300 mark tonight!

Run hot guys

Just got the small stakes upgrade for Omaha in PT4 and looking forward to using it! Just played some 50c/$1 to see what's up and realized I didn't have the tracking for it so I went ahead and splurged $45 for it.

Okay guys so here's the deal. I deposited $75 tonight for shot taking higher stakes No Limit Omaha. Yes, this is a bankroll challenge. Yes, the goal is still $100 to $1,000. In hindsight, I could have just played the session, and if I lost put the money into my account and call it a shot taking expense. However, my card only works what seems like 1/20 times I try to make a deposit. It says it's blocked, pre-approved, or I have to call customer support to have the funds credited to my account. I always call or contact chat support, but they say the same thing every time. "Call your bank and tell them to clear your account for international purchases, but don't say it's for poker".

So I do that but still the card is not working 95% of the time. That is why I wanted to make sure the money was in the account before taking the shot so I didn't blow 1/3rd the roll in a session and not have any way to get it back besides playing the low stakes.

I would like to say I know I have been hopping around stakes and for the most part getting lucky and running well, I am completely aware that is not sustainable for the long run, but I am trying to get as much as I can from it while I still can. I know jumping from a $5 buy in to a $25 buy in with skipping levels and such is not advised. I am not planning on doing this every day.

I could rationalize it to forgo as much criticism as I could by saying it’s the weekend and I’m hunting drunk fish or whatever, but the fact of the matter is I wanted more action and I took the steps to go get it. I apologize for the rant. If you’re still with me, let’s talk poker.

--Onto the session—

I started off playing the $0.50/1.00 NL 6 max Omaha table like I said in the previous post. I was up $3.89 and then stopped so I could purchase tracking software. After that, I imported the hands from that session and looked for another good table. I got into a NL $0.10/0.25 6 max game for 30 minutes and played only 30 hands before doubling up with an $18 win at that table. I was riding the lightning, and jumped up to the $0.25/0.50 NL 6 max game. Played less than 20 hands and cashed out with $17.67.

Like I have said before, I could continue playing for a few more hours, but my concentration was dwindling at that point, and I was so hyped up I couldn’t focus. I decided to end the session early and celebrate with some drinks.

PT4 Omaha upgrade was paid off in one session, which is alright with me! Also, I believe this marks both the largest pot won and the biggest winning cash game session (maybe even biggest winning session altogether) of this challenge, which is something I am excited about.

I had been having trouble with NLHE early on for those of you who have been following this since the beginning, which is when I switched to playing a very tiny amount of Pot Limit Omaha at the short stack 1c/2c tables. That wasn’t going quite well either (for many reasons), and I switched to SNGs. Had some success early on, but had one huge losing day. After that, I switched to NL Omaha and haven’t looked back. I have had the most consistent wins here, and I have been building the bankroll tenfold compared to what NLHE was giving us.

I have veered from the initial plan of this challenge quite a bit, but I think sometimes it’s important to realize that you have to give yourself a chance to win. If you are continually losing, it’s time to re evaluate. Are you studying? Are you breaking even/losing? Are you simply not good? If so, look for a fix to the solution instead of going through the motions and beating your head against a wall every time you lose a monster pot after doing a time bank’s duration of analyzing the hand. Sorry to preach, it’s just what I’m thinking.

So, we have a record breaking BR for the challenge. This does include that deposit earlier.

Our new Moving Through the Micros PG&C Bankroll is at $409.92! We are 40% through baby! And this last 60% should go by much quicker since stakes are increasing and pots are getting bigger.

I think tomorrow I will come up with a new plan of attack to finish out the challenge a bit more responsibly than I have been.

Good luck out there guys!

Hey everybody,

No poker tonight. My girlfriend spent last night at her parents out of town for fireworks and to go out on the lake they live by. She wants to spend some time together. With work in the morning, I am not looking to be up all night, so that's that. If I was alone like last night I would have no problem with it, but I will refer you to my "girlfriend wants attention" thread for that matter.

Anyways, I am still thinking of a plan of attack for the second half of our challenge. I think I will give myself some fluctuation and leniency by playing N/PLO5-10 for starters depending on the players and how big the games are getting. If I see a whale up at PLO25 I will happily hunt them, but I'm not looking to do any more crazy shot taking for the sake of preserving the bankroll.

That's gonna do it for tonight guys. She's already breathing down my neck for just taking 5 minutes to write this. Have a good one, and run hot for me!

What's up guys?

Just finished an interesting session, that's for sure. My PLO skills are definitely improving. I feel like I am getting better each day. Not only because of the streak I am on, but I am making plays that I would never have made at the beginning of this challenge. That little boost of confidence has really helped me in the my mental game, not tilting as much, and just having the courage to make a pot sized bluff on the rare occasion.

As for the session, I played only 112 hands. I decided to try 2 tabling today, which was kind of nerve-wracking at first. I didn't play yesterday so I felt a bit rusty as is. Adding another table to that was crazy for me at first, but I was still able to make reads. The notes I have taken on the regs was also really helpful in certain spots. I will post a couple hands after this post to relay the big points in the session.

I played one table on NLO10 and one PLO10 table. The PLO table was definitely tougher, but I pulled it together using blockers and value bets to really get my game going on that table. On the NL table, there was one fish who I felted when he jammed some hand like 7654 single suit or something like that with middle cards and I had AAQJ ds.

All in all, we are up $9.82 for the day. I short stacked the games today since I was two tabling and didn't want to blow my chips on a misclick like I have before when I meant to hit call/fold and didn't realize action just got to me after somebody jammed. Attention problems, maybe.

All in all, the roll is up to $420 (blaze it) and 92 cents. Slowly making that climb! 500 doesn't seem too far away. That's it for today guys. Keep a look out for the hand histories.

Good luck out there!

Hand #3

Vs a loose villain. PF I misclicked a min raise, but I meant to raise to $0.50. On the turn I was thinking he would have bet any set on the flop to protect/charge flush draws. On the river I was thinking that I really had the blockers to the straights and I didn't really think he would have 6-4 and continued to the river. All draws missed and I used my read to make an unusual call.

Hand #4

I really misplayed this and wanted to include it for future reference. I should have raised on the flop with bottom set and to protect against high card straight draws. I totally misread his hand on the turn as a bluff, and paid him off on the river. I will do my best to correct this for the future.

What’s up guys?

I played some guitar last night after the session and was laying on the floor resting against the bed, but when I stood up my back was absolutely killing me. I mean I really think I hurt something. I wanted to get an appointment to see a chiropractor, but all the ones around here are closed for the holiday. Hopefully it’s better tomorrow since I have to go back to work, but if not I’m not sure what I am going to do. Onto the session!

Started early this morning and got AAJQ double suited in my 3rd hand at PLO10. 3 bet the MP raise to $1.20 and as soon as I clicked raise my computer crashed. I have noticed it does that when I have ACR, PT4, MS Word and Spotify Web Player going. So, I restarted and lost that $2 but didn’t have computer problems after that. Unfortunately, PT4 didn’t log that hand so my results today will be edited.

I am writing this in word right now so I can just have one post today that includes all the action from today.

I played about 50 hands of PLO10 two tabling this morning before breakfast. Doubled up on each table. Got back after that and played another two table session of PLO10 and doubled up on each table there, too. I have been short stack buying in to the games recently so it won’t appear like I won full stacks because I didn’t. I find it’s easier to get premium hands all in pre or on the flop and have the other players level each other out of pots so it gets heads up to the runout. So far it’s working, but we will see how long that goes.

At this point in the session I am up about $20 (includes the $2 I lost with the PC bugging out on me). Feeling pretty good. I was getting nervous about losing my stacks in a big hand like I used to so I left those tables and am taking a short break again.

Second half of the session did not go very well at all. I wasn’t playing well or thinking clearly so I cut it short after getting stacked twice by the monster stack at the table (500 BBs) who was showing up with goofy hands to win pots he shouldn’t have been in. I totally accept that I got outplayed, however, and it cost me a little over half my winnings on the day. I ended the session up $5 and change, but I think I should have switched tables in hindsight.

Overall, still up on the day and that’s alright with me. I just have to keep chugging along and getting these wins booked and soon we will be complete with this challenge! It’s a bit disheartening to have that blip with the way the past sessions have gone, but you can’t hit all the nut draws everytime.

BR is up to $425 after today.

Good luck at the tables, guys!

Hey, guys

Just played a brief 100 hand single table NLO25 session. There weren't many Omaha tables going anyways, so I decided to play at the NL table for a few reasons.

Won a couple bucks and am up $8.95 for this morning. I'll take that any day though at 67BB/100, which ain't bad. There was one player who had been jamming weird not made/not nut draw hands, but I didn't get to take advantage of that as I was card dead for most of it and only played about 20% of hands, which isn't much for Omaha.

I did have a couple hands that I had a hard time deciding what actions to take, so I will be asking for help on those sometimes soon.

Going to chiropractor today since my back is still killing. I had to swap hours at work for Friday morning so I could get today off, but hopefully this guy will snap me back into working shape.

Hopefully you guys are running well today, too! Good luck out there.

BR up to $435.07

Whats going on 2+2?

Just got home after chiropractor and dinner date and it was all pretty good if I may say so myself. GF wanted to watch tv and spend time with me so I decided to play 1c/2c short stack PLO while watching our show. I knew I wouldn't be able to focus well, which was accurate.

So the game was literally flipping for stacks 80% of the hands. I was on the right side of variance tonight, but made some good postflop plays in the occasional hand that wasn't 5-6 bet pre.

I doubled the winnings from the earlier session, and ended with over 500 BBs at the table, which is the most I think I have ever had at a table. Ended up busting everybody at least once and the game broke.

Second session was a great success! Not really looking to play this game very often due to the amount of variance and lack of skill involved, but I think it's alright every once in a while to sit down with a BI of less that 1% of the roll and just flip. Sure, it's gambling, but sometimes it's fun! You wouldn't see me doing that at 10c/25c though, that's for sure.

Anyways, session's over for the night. Very happy with how things have been going. School will be starting again in about a month, which I am anxious about for a number of reasons, but I hope I can continue this run.

BR up to $443.43.

What's up guys? Played a few hundred hands of PLO 25 this morning. Was down $50 at one point. Not really getting great hands and just not playing that great. I was basically in a reg war on 3 different tables. Made back $17, but I am taking a brief break to chill out and regroup. Not done just yet! We will be back shortly.

Got back up to -$12 and then hit a monster run bad. Played PLO25 and got stacked 3 times all in with aces vs random hands. AAk6ds beat by AKKQds, AAKQ beat by JJ88ds, AAT5ss beat by AJJK ss.

All in all down about $100 on the day. Back down to PLO10. Unfortunately we hit our downswing when shot taking, but that's how it goes sometimes. Not depressed but definitely takes a toll losing that much.

Back at it tomorrow guys, GL out there

I personally wouldn't play PLO25 with $440 too much. Maybe one table. Have fun though!
