well first hand goes well lol lose a $5 pot defending BB w ATo. two pair are on the board (6633) and a 4 hits OTT. he had Q4 obviously

not much since, already changed one table

nice pot 3betting JJ..no, 4betting vs the bad player. he min 3bet me and I know his range is really weak but I want to get money in the pot for flops such as 974, which was the flop.

thoise tiny, small coolers that happen because of the way you play it. open w A4s in CO, BB flats. check check on 99A flop, chck check on A turn, Q comes chekc I bet because a bunch of hands can now call. He calls w a Q...he had to.

flop top set w AA lol. guy called bet with Qx6c on a Ac3c5c flop. i mean, thats bad lol and he folded his last $1

another table change. got lolbad

won a $27 pot with....63s lol. one min raiser, 3 callers, I call in BB. f 36Kdxd. IDK why I check, but I do. checks all around and thats a bummer. turn is Ax which is good. I bet, OR calls, guy min-raises. I call (and thats bad) and other guy folds. river is 2x. I check and h overbets the pot. this play doesnt make sense, and his line seems like a miossed flush draw with an A. I call and he indeed shows A9dd.

then I bust Q4 guy. we're HU and I 3bet him. flop T75. I bet and he calls. turn is 3x . I bet and he shoves. I call, he has QT.

lost a decent pot 3betting JJ. the guy didnt seem any good and I actually flopped a flush draw, he bet small (there was an A on the board) so I called and he shoved the blank turn.

just lost a pot vs an obnoxiously aggro player. He'd literally 3bet me my last 3 opens, I open again with AK and he 3bets me yet again. I 4bet him and he calls. flop is good J88, so I keep true to my adage and shove. he has JJ of course, really annoying. he has a VPIP of like 70 and a PFR of about 40

oh jeez. limped pot, I flop bottom end of straight with 43o (im in BB), new poster has 89 on the 567 flop. (he had a 30bb stack)

i cant thin value bet OTR when an overcard comes for some reason

time to wrap up this absurd session.

This has been an absurd session. Missing a lot in 3bet pots and the opponent hitting sets (22, 33, KT with TT4, JJ) and that's probably the variance side of things. Gotta wrap up fast because I gotta get ready for work. I think I let that aggro guy get the best of me, but IDK. Shoving that AKo on the J88 board might not have been the best, but his range misses it so much. I'll go over it later.

Hi everyone! I feel a lot better after yesterday's weird session. There was the guy that was so aggro and fishy that the time I played back at him, he flopped a full house of course. And that was really a reality check, as I don't think I ever would play AK like that vs many other opponents with that kind of flop. And it got me back to just playing my game. If I have to fold to aggression, so be it. Folding is almost never the worst option.

I already put in my work shift for the day and am extremely tired and exhausted from that place. So I was thinking nap, short session, lunch, dick around time, decent session, dinner, sleep. I mean, unless the world has other plans for me (and most of the time it does). Good luck everyone!

starting a bit later, i just needed some rest. r n r.

two limpers, 99 in CO. toss up between raising and flatting pf?

hate having TT, you raise pf and the flop comes KJ9 and he raises your cbet

first set and win a nice 65bb pot. it was just a great board. i have 66 and triple barreled on a K67 flop, 4 turn, K river. he has like K9 so many times or KX. but instead he had 99, so I guess i got maximum value

draws can be expensive. should have maybe semi-bluffed? idk

get it AIPF vs SS. I have AQ...he gets AA.

won a 100bb pot in a limped multiway pot flopping top two with T7hh . the fact that two players called until the river slowed me dwn (and the fact that I still had top two on the river). chck, guy bets, other guy raises. funny thing, theres only 2 straights possible on the board, many missed flush and straight draws, etc. guy raised w 66 and im shipped the pot

flopped nuts no action.

3betting w 66 BvB and keeping the aggression on when he shows weakness. looked like a reggy player.

i really hope my power doesnt go out. starting to storm. doesnt look good either, they popped out of nowhere and my house is under the red

get small value with TPGK vs flush draw, goood

flopped trips raised multiway. but probably a bad spot to donk bet,

first hand back after a quick break, get KK and win a nice $7 pot

the rain and storm is insane. stopped thundering for the most part but heavy, heavy rain

hiyt with AK! and two fish in the pot. sadly none of the fish hit anything, but its always nice

aurgghhhhh he had Ax and he didnt call the river. pfr J9s in CO, BTN calls, f 49A, I bet he calls,. turn 9, bet call. river J, bet 2/3 of the pot...and he folds

nothing for the most part since coming back from break

aces are great barrel cards

635 and 654 and 725 - "what are flops that show up when I pfr with Ax!"

this time someone called my 3bet with 33 and lost. ha!

aggression is always good. won two 40bb pots, including a 3bet pot w JJ.

cbet with equity. gotta keep doing it.

then lost a 40bb pot AIPF vs a short, JJ<QQ. meh.

aces! finally! 5 way 3 bet pot flop top set and win a 120bb pot to a guy who flopped middle set

that was a weird, tough hand. definitely posting that one. folded third flush on a 3 card flush board to a donk bet, check raise, then shove. it feels too much like Axss.

but the poker gods rewarded me with AA on the very next hand and get a 40bb players stack

then i lose a 80bb pot. guy limps Q5o and I check in BB w 65, flop comes Q65.

flopped top two w KQ on a KQJ board. play it fast or slowplay after guy raises my cbet?

lost a 60bb pot AIOTF 4hKxAh w Th8h. I was getting the proper price to call after he x/r but I simply missed after the shove (I have like 33% with the 9 flush cards ad backdoor straights)

yup, after my last small break (just to use the bathroom) its been so dry. its a bit frustrating. i either hit the flop big or miss completely, no inbetween.

3bet AQs in SB to a BTN raise, he 4bets. dont wanna shove 100bb deep but folding is not good so i flat and whiff.

i get a hand (QQ) and the guy who calls with K4 hits a king on the flop. this is crap, tis card distribution is utterly ridiculous

flopped top set win a nice pot.

and beat the habitual 3bettor/iso raiser by 4betting

and then outplaying him postflop. 3A3 flop, noone cbets that with an A. the better line is x/c then bet OTT. but see, i didnt have an A, just knew how to rep it.

and win a nice pot in a limped pot in BB. QdTd, 4 players. flop 8d7dTx, SB bets (he is bad), I raise, he calls. turn is 7x. I don't think he ever has a hand I lose to (9x seems likely). he checks, i shove (he only had a 35bb stack) he calls w T9, rivr is Ad

flopped nuts vs big stack fish. he' rather not as fishy postflop. got an extra bet from him, but thats it.

wrapping up session now.

flop seconmd nuts limped pot and win a nice 65bb pot to help pad the stats. would have been more but third flush card came OTR

That was a nice, long session. Really needed to play one of those. It was mostly a grind. The dry spells were horrid, and the good spells were good. Implementing a few more bluffs and realizing that I really do think about people's ranges more than I think I do. It was a nice rebound.

tables look a bit meh, but want to get a session in. Last of the month.

I did a review of that crap session that happened on friday. I noticed something odd. When I was getting played back at pf, they actually had hands that were better than mine. Somethig i wasn't expecting, but definitely eye opening.

doubled barreled AQo on a 6d5d5x board and 3x turn. the river was a 7 and i couldnt fire the third barrel

flopped bottom two on wet wet wet board. 3 flush 3 straight. and trn brought a 4 to a straight. yikes

and busted the aggro fish through "fishy" means. UTG min raises, fish flats, I flatg in BTN w 88. one other caller. flop 27T, checks to fish who bets out, I flat, SB flats, all fold. turn is T, check, fish bets, I decide to call and fold mosty turns since (i mean rivers) even fish arent going to triple barrel without a T (many draws and 7x he can do it with). well, river is an 8, he snap shoves, and I fold if it isnt a T or an 8. i call and he does have a T

omg just seen a sick suckout. guy calls a shove vs middle set with TP and backdoor straight draw. well, he hit his runner runner straight cards and since then, ive labeled him as such

won a nice pot in BB w KJs. BTN opens, SB calls, I flat. f 7h9dKd, check, I check, BTN cbets, SB folds and I call (je's folding anything I beat to a check/raise). turnis Kx. I don't donkbet here because i know I can get him to bet for me so he can bluff out draws. he does, i oblige and call (i used the wrong word). river is 3x, io fold out everything by betting so i have to hope he bets and he doesn't.

funny chat at this one table. fish keeps needling someone with 10bb about how he is a stupid shortstacker and gay. shortstacker is needling gay slurs back at him

broadway cards! will stand on side of road for broadway cards!

rivering flushes with TP will do too

just lost a big pot. im not getting dealt anything and when I finally get to cbet and bet with something instead of nothing they have it,. ****ing ridiculous.

wrapping up session now.

It's pretty bad having to fold 4 6max tables for 30 straight minutes. But that's what has been happening lately. Extreme dry, extreme good, nothing in between. It's stupid. Any in between ground would be good, but it seems like there just isn't any. Those two hands where I win the "big pots" happened before 1230. If you notice, nothing afterwards. Can be really frustrating sometimes because it happens so often.

Happy year half way point everybody! Means football is just right around the corner (Columbus during football season = heaven). It's funny, last month I did pretty much exactly everything I wanted to do pokerwise except the volume part. So at least I have a firm grasp on my abilities. Not for a lack of trying either, I put in more volume last month than I did the previous two months.

But I'm going to save my monthly wrap-up and July goals for tomorrow, when I have the day completely off. It's going to look similar, but I'm going to shoot for the stars this month. Profit wise, not volume wise. Anyways, good luck today everyone!

first played hand, not cbetting on a JdTx9d flop w Ac4c

noticing when your opponent is going to bluff before they know it.

getting 4 to 1 in BB vs a fish with 65o. first instinct is to fold, but im almost never 20% against his range HU preflop. its always better than 20%

more card deadness

that was sucky. worst player at table, a 25bb player, slowplays a flopped set in a 3bet pot (continuing the trend of players flopping sets vs me in 3bet pots)

flopped top and bottom, probably shouldnt have x/r though. but he cbet in a multiway pot and i had A2 on AK2 flop.

that was a very well timed bluff. bunch of draws on the board and the read that he wasn't really confident with his hand. neither was I, I opened with 75s and triple barreled on a 4xKh8h 7x Qx board.

mmmmm. open JsTs in BTN, SB calls. f JQsJ. He donks out, so i decide to just smooth call. turn is As. He bets again, so I smooth call again. river is Ks....no im just kidding, its 2s. he bets, i raise, he calls with KcTc.

three hands in a row. 3bet a guy with KK and take it down with a cbet. same guy bets and i flat with 99, flop my first set on a two diamond board, third diamond comes on turn and of course he had flush. i kid you not, very next hand I get AA and he opens again. i quickly type in a bunch of random things in the chatbox and a "dammit that -explicative- always happens to me!" ( i wasnt actually tilted, i figured he had a flush and was just putting on an act). then i quickly 3bet to $7. but he doesnt fall for it lol

just won a nice 140bb pot with KK in a 3bet 4 way pot (i said that correctly)

omg. just as i was wrapping my session up. two absurdly ridiculous hands. I flop tp set with KK, guy calls pf and on the flop with J8o on a 97K board. he flops his T. Then, different table, guy 3bets me with 44. I have AQ. I know he is bad. he calls my shove OTT with the board A256. the river is a 4, and just like that my session goes down the drain. ****ing unbelieveable. I guess idiots have to get lucky to keep on playing. Seriously though, ALL of my profits washed away and more those two final hands. Unbelievable.

I'm not 100% ready to go to bed yet, so I figured why not make my end of June post while relaxing on the couch?

I shouldn't really complain about June. I started off hot and ran hot most of the month. The end obviously sucked, but it was a good month overall. Exactly how much of that was run good and how much of that was actual skill I may never know. I found myself going over hands more than I went over stats, because in the end stats don't really mean anything. A 100/100 player can shove all in on you on a K72 rainbow flop while you have 77, but yet turns over KK. Basically, stats are helpful but everything else combined is so much more useful. I can truly say that I understand poker so much more after just 3 months of playing without a HUD. And this month was no exception to the increased improvement.

Goals:

-11,000 hands: FAIL. 8,758 hands through 34 hours. It takes about 10 hours a week to complete this one, but I'm not sure I can put forth 10 hours a week.

-BR above $600: SUCCESS. Right now it's much lower (thank you suckout kings) but it was over $600.

-Take shots at 25nl: SUCCESS. Mainly due to my good run at 10nl, I got to 25nl a lot quicker than I anticipated.

-Improve my stats: INCONCLUSIVE. 10nl overall has me at 19.5/12 (remember, there is no month filter on Pokeit), but 25nl, which I have been playing in exclusively June, has me playing at 21.4/13. However, my AF is lower than 2.0, which definitely needs to be higher.

Graph for the month:

Sessions for the month:

For July, I said I was aiming for the stars. Here are my poker goals for July:

- 10,000 hands. I know, this is a downgrade. But it's a bit more attainable at my pace.

- Improve my aggression. Stealing, cbetting, and raising instead of calling. Also 3bet, iso, and squeeze more.

- $1,000 BR. I have to run really hot to do this, and if I don't do it I'm not necessarily upset. But it's better to set the goal than to be afraid of the goal.

Good luck in July everyone!

I've been looking through my HH this morning for the past 3 to 4 sessions, and I'm noticing something that should keep me optimistic.

My opponent's are simply flopping big hands, and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it right now.

Another hyper aggro whale. I shouldn't have played it as such OTF, but to flop a boat? At least have QQ and give me some chance.

It's frustrating to say the least. Or looking at the hands and noticing that while I'm missing, they're pairing up on the flop and such is a bit comforting. I was due for some run bad though, and I have to keep telling myself that. So I gotta keep looking through the hand histories and think "what can I change differently about that hand, or did I play it optimally with the information I had at that moment?"

The plan for today sucks. I was going to golf with my friends, but I physically am having trouble putting weight on my left heel. It's been going on since about saturday, but got really bad last night. It could very well be my new work shoes, and if that's the case then it's a shame. But, I'm a right-handed golfer and anybody that knows anything about golf knows that the left foot is extremely important as all your weight has to shift to it during the swing. If I can't put much weight on it, how can I put all of my weight and momentum on it? Best choice is to stay here, heal and rest it up so I can survive the rest of the week. So, on my day off, I'm probably going to just play some poker and Halo all day.

I forgot to post these last night as well.

of course. open w A2, one caller, flop A35, i bet he calls. flop 4 (!) he checks, i bet, he calls. River, of course, is a 2. and not only that, it brings 3 hears to the board with the A not being a heart. and him having just under 1 psb left shoves. i tank and call and he only has A9, no hearts for the split.

first set, KK. got some money but very drawy board so had to play fast

4bet-folding 88 on BTN from a 3bet and 5bet shove by a 100bb+ player...flip at absolute best. maybe flatting the 3bet might have been best, but aggression with a plan is never bad.

foldng KQo to one raise...a BTN raise....but guy seems generally tight

turned nut straight, nada. left table, full of 100bb stack players

so far its been quite like the past week of sessions: nothing nothing nothing, not even pairs

omg i finally win a pot and i hae to do it by floating an aggro fish

second set...win a SS stackl. about time!

flop top two vs same aggro fish. i give him credit, he slowed down when he knew he was beat (but he still called bets with 3rd pair)

and another pot against the poor guy. had AA, raised his limp, SB calls and he call. flop 27Jr (awesome!) check, he donks, i raise, he calls. turn is...J! dammit. he bets and I just flat. river is...J! (im not kidding) he folds to me bet

well thats pretty indicative of my week. everyone limps, I cantbring myself to raise AJo. f is KQT. I dont want to bet, i want people to catch up or others bet. noone bets though, and turn is 5x. So i bet pot and get one caller. river is T, which isnt bad at all. i bet, guy (who has $11 left) shoves and i call, expecting a JT. he has QT and rivers it.

get AA and 4 callers. f is 9dTdKx and i cant even bring myself to cbet. but i still won the pot.

guy rivered a straight holding bottom pair to a pfr, flop bet, and turn bet. i cant do much else.

oh crap i got away with one there lol. thought i made a straight and bet on the river like i made a straight. but i ddnt make a straight, just a pair of 2s

like i said, just as ive been running. i flop an OESD in the high end, other guy flops nut straight with a flus redraw

this whole hour and 35 minutes i have not once had JJ or QQ

of course i go to the bathroom and get dealt an A-broadway that actually hits

ooo first QQ! and the flop comes AK2.

well. after nothing nothing nothing i flop quads with JT.

and then i pfr w KQ, guy calls with A2 and flops trip A.

and same guy calls my pfr w 44 while i have 77 and caLLS my cbet on the AAT flop. turn is T and im just like f it and check bc you know. river is A. yeah, counterfitted.

Well, this session has been a lot like the ones of the past week. I just can't get traction, I can't back up my aggression with anything and I'm almost never going to three barrel bluff at 25nl. It's taking its toll a bit being carddead and seeing awful flops, but it'll end eventually. For how absolutely dull and long and frustrating and crappy this session was, to be down not even half a buy-in feels like a winning session. And that's pretty bad when a loss feels like a win.

I was going to play another session, but I got caught up in my "new" game. Earlier today (before the first session) I pre-order NCAA Football 14 and bought a used Final Fantasy 13 #nerdgasm. I bought it because it was $12 and I have never beaten the game despite getting fairly deep. Damned and determined to beat it this time!

That's not why I'm posting though. I'm giving some thought to voluntarily dropping back down to 10nl despite not being at the drop down point with the BR. I don't think I'm playing terrible or anything like that. I'm just running into the deck it seems like this past week and a half, and my BR has plummeted. It's also slightly affecting my play IE I've stopped cbetting as much and stealing as well. Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn't. Any thoughts?

i did indeed drop down to 10nl. I know i have enough money for 25nl, but I need to refocus

first time getting AK and i hit!

nothing big so far though

steal with A8o, SB calls, f 85Kr, SB donks I flat (i could raise but I have SD value and fold out all his bluffs). turn is Kx, he bets i flat expecting another bluff OTR. river is a 9. he checks i check. he has KQ.

It's been the same as 25nl so far, running into the top of people's ranges and having to make good folds and reads.

just flopped nut flush w royal flush draw. i like that

one limper, raise KK in BTN. SB calls anmd so does CO. flop 3K8xhh. SB donks and CO raises. CO i dont think ever has a flush draw. I flat and expect SB to fold, which he does. turn is 2h, which is a semi bad card. he checks and i shove. he tanks and calls. he has 88

well thats fun. pfr AQ one caller bad player 3bets I flat. flop 8hQx5h. I donk expecting to call a shove. one fold and 3bettor shoves. i call. he has KhQh (hate to see that hand) turn is Tx. river is a Kx (come on, they have to beat me that way?) abd i lose the pot

i like flopping nuts when you're in BB and get free cards

its seriously been pretty dry. ummm....hit AQ and hit two pair, correctly assigned a guy's range and got value with it

guy shoves on me when 8 hits otr. i have QJ no hearts and board is JhTx9h4h8x. I'm not calling a shove in a $1.2 to at best chop and at worst lose to a flush.

nother royal flush draw...but everyone folds

thats awesomne! shortstacker calls my raise pf. I have QQ. flop T44r. check check i bet fold SS calls. turn is 7x. he checks, i bet enough to put hjim all in

ad then i quit the session lol maniac three bettor/fish 3bets me and shoves on me., i have AK, he has AA, gg me.

Eh, the session was what it was. There was a lot less aggression than 25nl, which I didn't think would happen. It was, once again, a lot of the same as it has been, but gotta pull through it eventually. And moving down to 10nl should lessen the blow.

This must be what Seattle feels like. I'm serious when I say this, we started out with the driest spring/summer I can ever remember. For the last week and a half, not a day has gone by without clouds and rain. It's been this way in Ohio only one time that I can remember, and that was Hurricane Sandy last year (we actually got snow and ice and rain from it for a week straight).

Anyways, hope your 4th of July was a good one! I got to work alllll damn day AND get caught up in traffic from a local firework show after work. In a town I despise. I literally yelled at everyone because I hate everyone in that town, then called them a racial, derogatory word before yelling at them that they can't be that because none of them exist in that town because they're a bunch of racist pricks. (If you think my rants when I get sucked out on in poker is bad, don't ever drive with me). Yeah, little jealous of all the people who got to celebrate the 4th because I couldn't.

I'm going to put a session in before work. 10nl, and I'm going to work that up until somewhere between 550-575 before taking on 1 lone 25nl table. Good news is that I should have plenty of time to grind the next 3 days as I have tomorrow off, Sunday I can come in whenever I please, and Monday I work 7am-noon (or so, whenever I feel like leaving). Just gotta grind through this downswing and hopefully improve my play with it.

Good luck everyone!

way later than i wanted, but my brother came over literally right after i posted the last post. and then i worked.

playin 3 10nl and 1 5plo....because i feel like it

sometimes it seems like bovada gives you the same cards when playing different tables. case in point: 2hJs on two tables at the same time

well i like flopping boats in plo

win a nice pot w QQ...had to freeze up though when 3rd flush card came after a passive call OTF by a player

wait lol ive already won $3 at 5plo...nice!

very nice call by Q6 pf to a preflop raise and flop trips....then leave the table after winning the absolute minimum

i just did something i havent done recently. aggression im a limped pot IP when noone shows interest

yes, its been just as slow going for me in nl as it has been

just successfully "ligt" three bet A9o to a btn steal and cbet to take it down. thats been the highlight of this session so far lol i swear bone dry

taking a pot down w 77 m,ultiway raised pf on a A9QJ2 board. like, seriously, i dont beat anything ever

i thought my past sessions were carddead bad, mannnnnnn they don't compare to tonight

at least im up $6 in plo

omg that felt soooooo good i dont remember the last time i won a 200bb pot. AAvKK AIPF. idc, ill take it anyway i can. they didnt even make me sweat, the just turned an A on the flop with no straigh draws for the KK possible

bout to wrap session up, just a quickie

nope, im not stupid like these other players, i am not calling a small PP in a 3bet pot.

I got the session in. It felt drier than usual, but maybe because I wasn't 100% wide awake or maybe because I was playing plo alongside it. Either way, it was a winning session and I'll take those (no matter how big or small). But I really shouldn't play after work much anymore.

Good morning/afternoon everyone!

Well, it should really be lazy morning/afternoon. Sleeping in, not worrying about working at all, with the day as my oyster! God I'm getting old. I took about half an hour or so to browse and think about the hands in the unl forum, along with going over some of my hands before that. I haven't had those "omg, this hand is really tough and difficult to understand" moments recently. Whether that's due to the cold spell or maybe not raising enough to face those tough decisions, I have to figure out. Not that it's a bad thing, but I would like to be trying to learn more and get better and posting those tough hands in this thread.

By the way, that hand where I had a straight and the guy pot blasted it with the flush possible, I folded. He had absolutely nothing. Sigh.

Oh well. Let's get some hands in and in general enjoy the day! Good luck everyone!

i did play a .55 satellite earlier to get into one of the "mini series" events, but busted.

boom! ss shove otf 8d3x7d, i have QdTd and call. turn is 3d and river is a 4 for the win!

first set, 6 way pot though. but i still win got two extreme SS AI on a super drawy board., then the table died and i had to leave

then i lose a AIPF pot...3 handed AQs<AA after the guy had raised and 3bet the past 4 hands.

second set , ok pot.

thats an interesting spot. sb v bb, i open in sb and bb calls. f J73. I bet, he raises, I fol my Q9. very next hand, i open in BTN w QJo and he calls in bb (100bb stack) flop is Jh7x6h. he checks, i bet and he calls. turn is 6x. he checks, i bet, he min-raises. this looks full of crap to me. there isnt anything he reps except 77 and random 6x hands. plus he pulled a raise the hand before when i stole. so i flat it IP. river is J. he bets again. i dont get why he is betting. he reps absolutely nothing.so i shove on him hoping to get a call and he folds.

hit another set and win a 100bb pot. awesome!

ive had sooo many QQ today lol

im going to admit right now, im running good in card distribution tonight.

more proof that donkbets by most players are weak: i open pf w KQ, 200bb stack in bb call, flop 7AK. he donk bets less than 1/2 pot. I call. turn is 4. check check (i could and should bet here, but no reason to do it really). river is 4 and he bets more than pot. i call and he shows KJ.

well. that kinda sucks. same guy from last hand. get QQ and raise, SB calls and BB (same guy) 3bets to .65 (seriously?) i call and SB calls. flop 568ccx. SB shoves. BB call. i cant call so i fol. SB has KQ 1 club, bb has 99, 1 club.

then a couple hands after at a different table, 1 limper and i limp TT otb (I had rased the previous 3 hands preflop, probably still should have raised), SB SS raises he isnt good, all fold to me and i shove. he tank-calls w 88! board runs out QJ2J....8 case 8 too, other guy said he folded 87

theres another interesting spot. BvB, SB limps and i just check w JTo. flop is J84hxh. he checks, i check (i should bet). turn is T. he bets, i raise, he flats. river is the worst card in the deck, the Ah. he pots it. i dont think i can beat much that takes this line. the only possible hand, and thisis along stretch, is J8. so i fold

dry past few 15 or so minutes. not bad though.

lol have 93 Michigan v Washington Rose Bowl on in the background. god do i miss college football.

the best card to show up on the turn when you dont have anything but a hi card is a pairing of the highest card

semi bluff check-raising is awesome!

quads are pretty awesome too

finishing session u p now

I had some good card distribution today. With it, I was able to be more aggressive and I got into some more interesting spots than usual. I also was aggressive with non-nutted bluffs at the right time IE drawy boards and such. It was a good session overall and it feels good to pack together back to back winning sessions for the first time in about two weeks.

this is gunna be fun. playing in a $5 hyper turbo. 100 chips levels levels start at 10/20 and go up every 2 minuts

i feel good today woke up early for work, got a nap,l cut the grass (finally we have a non rainy day...at least at my house. 7 miles down the road at my work there was flooding)

omg first hand 4 way AI and i have QQ and bink Q OTF

then lose 2/5 of my stack AIPF AQ<J9. get Q OTF, he hits runner runner diamonds otherwise i obliterate the field

well that was quick lol. ended in literally 13 minutes (only 12 players) and I got 2nd for $18. so an ice $12.50 profit

oh and flopped first set of session at cash, JJ on a JAA flop. sadly he didnt have a A

i hate the squeezer play. i honestly should have 4betgot it in w AK there, bt because of the caller...tough rocks

win a good pot w AA multiway, bust a SS, always good

first table change. who knew the tables at 10nl could get nittier than 25nl tables

nothing now that all my concentration is at the cash tables lol of copurse

instead of hitting the flush, runner runner aces is soooo much better

leaving that table bc i just kept running into big hands

nit nit nit. any other player id continue with top pair. not a nit like tat

won a 110bb pot. guy was tilting and shoved preflop after my raise. i call w AJ, he shows KJm no king shows up

talk about bad cards: when a fish calls your pfr and you flop bottom two pair on a Kd7d6x flop. turn 4d (fish love them flush draws). river Jx (fish love KJ). he had the KJ

lol a guy yelling at me for rivering him. im in SB w KTo, folds to me, I raise, he flats in BB with....53. yeah, he turns two pair. he bets .2 into a .6 pot, giving me 4 to 1 IE proper odds for flush. i also had a straight draw. i hit OTR

winning a nice pot raising KJs in UTG AT A 4 HANDED TABLE. strange part: guy called down three streets of value with 88 and the board was JJA72. at some point you gotta know your 88 is beat.

im not sure if i missed value there. i dont think i did. tighter player bets in utg pf and i flat with AQo in MP. one other caller. f A42r. check, OR bets. i flat, SB folds. turn is T, which isnt the greatest card bc i feel he raises pf A9+. he bets again, but smaller. he has to have an A at this point. i flat to keep his weaker aces in play. river is Q and he bets a value bet. here i need to raise his bet and get his AT to call (not 100% sure an AK calls a raise).

hmmmm crazy rat shoves on me 3betting someone else....i have AK...lets call. eh split pot AK v AK

another split pot w same hand vs that guy. this is a sign; we must fall in love

its been a sad last half hour lol best hand has been 88

im wrapping session up now. its pointless to play when youre constantly dealt hands with no equity like Q5.

Thank heavens for the 2nd place in the Hyper Turbo, otherwise I would have just grinded for $1.70 (but profit is profit). It was a good, long session although I do have to figure out ways to keep my attention on the games when I'm carddead. I find I'm getting much better at assigning players tighter ranges than I did when I had a HUD. I credit it all with cutting down tables and paying attention to the action rather than the numbers on a black box. I need to 3bet more preflop, and that was fairly obvious tonight. I think I 3bet maybe 3 times? Not enough, especially from the blinds. But hey, we've got a winning streak going. Let's keep it rolling.

Whew, that was brutal. Didn't play yesterday because NCAA 14 came out (first sign that football is right around the corner!) and I worked 4p to 1015pm. Just to come back home, pass out and wake up at 6 (to lovely storms once again!) so I could work 730am to 430pm today. Needless to say, I'm a bit tired and frankly think playing right now would be -EV. So I'm just going to wait until tomorrow to play once again. I'm going to stick with 10nl for the time being and wait until $575 to start re-incorporating 25nl tables. While I'm still staying at 10nl, I want to work on a few key areas:

1. 3-betting in general. Open up my 3-betting range in the blinds, especially versus a late position steal. Why flat HU 77 when I can 3bet and potentially take the pot down then? Money isn't an issue and I've obviously shown enough self-control to not completely obliterate my BR, so a few riskier plays here and there can't hurt. In late position, I want to focus on 3betting the AJ+ hands and as low as 99. Of course, a very small percentage of suited connectors and Ax suited cards should be in the fray, but only a small percentage. I don't have to make some 3bet bluffing range, but it is good to get the occasional 3bet bluff in to get used to it.

2. C-Betting in general. My percentage is hovering around 50%. A lot of this has to do with multi-way pots, much more than what I was used to on FT or PS. But cbetting gives us an extra way to win, checking does not. And there is always that fold button if too much resistance is shown.

Good luck everyone!

im backkk

does anyone know why girls do that thing when theyre texting? the double or triple letter for words.

tables seem a bit dead tonight. not good

nice software bovada. i have auto wait to bb, they have me post in UTG.

theres a good example of a good solid squeeze. one limper, one raiser, one caller. squeeze w AQo instead of flat with it

ewww. yeah these tables are pretty bad.

bad spot. iso raise AKo, SB and BB call (original limper folds) flop is rainbow A76 and SB donk bets $1 into $1.3. SB is a full stacker tighter player. BB calls. Donk bets are weak. But when there are so few draws on the board...I guess it could be an Ax, but multiway? I decide to bet/fold, which in hindsight is bad. SB shoves, BB folds, i tank heavily and fold. bet/fold i guess can get value from AQ, but its very thin that he wouldn't 3bet preflop.

heh then at another table, 3bet a CO opener in BTN and a brand new player 4bets. I have AKs. CO fols and I decide 'lol new players suck" and shove. he folds, nice pot without a flop

lol just spit out with laughter. fish calls my pf raise w K4o, flops two pair and turns a boat.

i dont understand that play at all. guy to my right (readless, just after first orbit) pfr from CO. I flat in BTN w KK because BB is a big stack and has 3bet twice already. both fold and the flop is J5ddJ. he bets, I raise (its a good board for raising) and he calls. turn is 4x. he checks, I bet, he calls. almost always a J or some pair. river is 6x. he checks, i decide to chck (should bet). he shows A6o (wtf?!)

lol just got "lolimadonkmincheckraise". good move for a bluff, but its mostly used by fish because they have a hand and dont know what to do

but i am serious. i havent seen these tables this bad at nioght ever. almost not even worth playing.

just got 5bet holdng QQ. another crappy feeling fold.

im bout to just quit soon. this isnt fun, combining the bad tables and having to make good folds every other hand.

heh. flopped a straight in a raised pot. guy had exact same hand

3bet again while holding QQ, this time I flat and AKx shows on the flop

about time. win a SS stack AI OTF K85r. he had 83, i had KJ

wrapping this ssesion up now

I'm just saying this right now: This was probably the most absurd, stupid session I have ever played on Bovada. I couldn't get a groove going, the tables were atrocious for the nighttime, and I was getting played back at every time I had a mediocre holding. Didn't help that I never really had a premium or good hand relative to the opponent and board. It was what it is: A complete crap anomaly session. At least I did try to 3bet more and cbet more when I had the chance.

So a couple of bits of good news for me. First off, hi everybody! Good news portion: Just got a 40 cent raise this week. It bumps me into the mid-$9 range per hour and $10/hour when I do one specific job. Not too bad for someone still going through college. Second good news with my work: The people higher up than my store manager want me to work more upstairs in the office than I have been. Which is really good for me, because it frees up my schedule more so that I don't have to work icky 4 to 9pm shifts as much. Instead, I can actually schedule myself for when I want to work, which means I'll probably free up a few more evenings a week to play some poker.

That being said, I should say something about last night's shift. It was a rare thing. I had never seen tables that aggressive with 3betting and 4betting at 10nl. I think there were some spots I could have done better in, but alas I won't know for another few hours. For instance, 100bb stacks, you just 4bet QQ UTG and the CO 3bettor 5bets you (betting sequence of .3 > .9 > 2.5 > 5). What do we do then? Or in a multiway raised pot, you're donked into holding AK on a A76r flop and then they shove on your raise of them. I think the latter one is a lot lot closer than the QQ hand. Or maybe I'm still figuring out the nuances of 6max.

Anyways, regging for 2 "MTTs". One is a satellite to a $20 + 2 limit O8 $1k gtd. Little background information of my past, I started as a MTT player. The first ever final table that I made in an MTT was a limit O8 tournament. I'll start a cash game session shortly after. Good luck everyone!

out in 18th in satty. lost big flopping two pair when flush came on river, survived and made last stand with AA23 double suited. lost to T432 double suited.

and other mtt not going too well, flushed away again otr (to be fair, i was "bluffing" what was the best hand).

flushed again. one 230bb stack min raises, another 200+bb stack cals, i call in BB w T9o. f T9hhKx. check, i bet, OR flats, SB folds. turn is 4x, i bet OR calls. river is atrocious Ah. thats a bad card. i pretty much check/fold.

but then i flop flush and get a nice 70bb pot

i have to be at the worst table ever

so fatr nothing really of note

folding to a small 3bet w KQo. i dont think its nitty. just if that specific guy thinks his hand is that good, im in trouble.

still waiting to hit a set or get dealt KK+

need a double up in MTT...just won an ok pot w 99 in it

wow. get AQo in MTT, a SS bets and a crippled stack calls. i shove from BB covering both. they both have AJ. the flop is KsTx2s, turn is Js...river is 7x and the bigger of the two stacks wins with his AsJx leaving me with 1/2 of a BB

well, quadrupled up to a whopping 1 1/2 BB (blinds changed levels) and shoving with a 64dd bc there was a lot of money in pot. and now i dont even have to look at board when it comes AQT lol.

god these players are bad lol limp and calling 3bets preflop, check raising all in with nothing but a gutshot....,am

this is turning into another session like last night, except even worse boards and cards lol

wow berating a fish after you win a stack from him?! thats low and terrible. i just had to say that it was unlucky his 77 ran into 99 and that he sucked out on the river (AIPF, fish turned a straight, tool rivered a FH)

ok a guy just limp-called a 3bet for 30% of his stack preflop creating a 30bb pot and folded to a 6bb bet otf.

i just got AA for the first time since monday at a table with a steaming pissed fish and all i could get was the SB's limp.

i feel dirty. calling a 3bet preflop w T9s (to be fair, it was multiway and i was getting 4 to 1 on a call) and getting it in...good...on a 944 flop. and holding for the win.

and then rivering a full house when i flopped trip 8 with 83o in BB....probably the only time ive ever played 83o to the river

3bet and cbet whiffing the flop for the win.

winning 83bb pots...ill take that any day of the week from people who chase draws

new poster in UTG min raises. two callers. im in BB w T7o. 7.5 to 1. call and flop trips

theres a hand i played badly. pfr TT, SB and BB call (theyre bad). f 533ddh. SB donks (donks are weak) BB calls, i raise, SB flats and BB folds. flush draw. turn is Jh. he checks. I need to bet here to get vale from his flush draws, but i check. bad decision. river is Qh and he bets. he doesnt have a flush now and im just guessing whether he hit the J or Q or not. I callo, he shows Q6dd.

wrapping session up now, feeling a bit tired

:O just won a 300bb pot while trying to wrap up session vs huge calling station whale. i have 150bb he has 160. 76cc in BTN, two limps s i limp, he limps in SB. f T82r. he donks out from SB small, one caller, i call knowing he'll pay off if i hit. turn is 9x, he bets bigger, one call, i raise, he calls. other guy calls. river is sweet 4x. he bets again (.10)...caller who came along this whole time folds (idk why). i overshove $13 into $5.5....AND HE CALLS WITH 79!

Overall, this was a better session. Yeah, that last hand really helped but the tables were looser and I took advantage of them. I made one big mistake (the TT hand) and that's something I do need to fix. Keep the pressure on when you define their hand and the card doesn't help them. I really need to keep on playing consecutive days though. I'm just starting to get back in the groove, and I was only away for a couple of days.

If there is a time in the world every week to sleep in, not do anything, and just relax and be lazy, Saturday morning is that time. In fact, Saturday morning and Sunday night are those times.

Here is the QQ hand. I hadn't really seen much from this guy. He was a full stacked player and had been what I viewed as a bit tighter. Do we like the 4bet here? I feel flatting the 3bet with QQ doesn't disguise the hand; we're essentially set-mining with the 3rd best starting hand which I feel has to be a losing play. And to that point, I feel 99-QQ is all about the same in that regard. They're hands we can play in 3bet (and perhaps 4bet) pots, but we can't really try to disguise them because they're so vulnerable. Thoughts?

Don't read the spoiler until thinking about and commenting on that hand if you were going to do so; it will ruin your perception of the hand.
Spoiler:
He had K3. Not even kidding. I can clip a picture of that hand if you want to see.

And then this hand. SB hand't gotten out of line and was generally passive. I do take the theory that most donk bets are weak, and such raise. I raise it here for a few reasons:

1.) Weaker A holdings (AQ-A9) will flat this raise more than likely, setting up for a shove OTT.
2.) Anything better, this multiway of a pot, will raise. 66 and 77 are massive parts of the range.
3.) I'm not 100% sure what the rare 89 will do here, but if it shoves over a call and a raise, they deserve the pot. 54 is even less likely.

He shoves and gives me every indication that I need from a tight player. Thoughts on this hand?

Spoiler:
We all three had aces. I of course had AK, BB wound up having AQ (one hell of a restraint by him, if he 3bets preflop though I 4bet/get it in due to the squeeze and BTN/blinds factor), and the worst ace of all three preflop holdings, A7, is had by SB. Which really discounts his tight/passiveness. Pat yourself on the back.

This hand is strange. I can honestly say I don't remember the hand, but I guess I thought I had AKs (the one with the new player at the table who cold 4bet me in the BB). This is what aggression can do though. Flatting isn't the worst here, and he was brand new to the table. But I have blockers to AA and KK, so it's more likely he's just blowing smoke being new to the table.

Going through the session on Thursday, I saw a weird theme: Restraint from betting actually saved me. I shouldn't say restraint; more like not getting too committed with weaker holdings in relation to the flop and the opponent's range. With the exception of the QQ 5bet hand, they all had it when I thought they did and didn't when I thought they didn't. No session today, got one of those dreaded second shifts. Will be one tomorrow though. Good luck at the tables everyone!

and tonight we welcome back one lone 25nl table.

no mtt tonight, i plan on cooking up a nice big dinner after this and relaxing all night

looks like we're gunna take a risk off the bat there. flop gutshot + nut flush draw.

oh wow. i check/raised with AJss on a 7sTxQs flop. guy called with QJxx. turn was a T, awful card, river was an 8x. idk how QJ calls that check/raise, but sure enough they did.

then lost an AIPF to a SS AQ<QQ

theres a bunch of bad players!.....and so far ive only been able to win 3 pots.

seems to happen all too often. most interesting card for me in a hand comes on the turn just to have the most uninteresting, most boring card come on the river.

wow just seen a 3way AIPF in a 250bb pot. KK vs KK vs T9ss. Guess which hand won.
trick question. all three of them won. the KK and KK tied the sied pot, the T9s won the main pot.

haa maniac table that one is. pfr to 40bb preflop on a first bet

lol of course the first JJ+ hand of the session I get is on the nittiest table im art

won a nice pot w QJo vs table aggro. always good, still down quite a bit

and win an AI OTF QQ>64s 276r flop vs SS

dayum bout time i flop a draw and hit it. open KTs in CO, three callers. f 3JQr. check to me, I bet, fold, SB calls, BB folds. turn 9x. check, i bet 1/2 pot, he shoves his 40bb into me and i snap call. he has J9, river is 5.

well that hand kinda sucked. get QQ, fish calls pre. bet on J88f, 9 turn, A river. he shows A9. very impressive, higher than me level ply on his part.

win a decent pot with AA

dammit. guy talks about other guy being fish, chases to river for flush. it gets there after he keeps calling without the odds and then i have to call his small river suck bet. I was getting 7 to 1.
(I had top two and knew he didnt have a set)

I hit my first set in a long time just before the KT hand.

flop another set, get a SS stack. 77>A9 AI OTF 79Jcxc. he had no club

tried a bluff against a fellow 100bb+ stack who had been fairly aggro and is....but he 3bet me on the flop

should have 3bet the stealer with a better hand than A6s, but it gets the job done

Bovada seems like its starting to lag

slowly slowly grinding up

i seem to be playing a bit tighter today...maybe because i do tend to tighten up a bit when there are looser, aggroer players

i have to start deciding soon what i want to use to track my hands. im almost at 30,000 hands on pokeit and at 50,000 you have to pay $5 a month. i could go with that or try with HEM. idk.

its not fun been just folding the last 15 minutes.

crap spot. dammit another suckout getting all the money in good. aggro tighter player opens in BTn, SB flats, I flat in BB w QTss. f 876sxs. check, i check, OR bets, fold, I raise, he calls. a set i think shoves. any made hand does. turn is 7s. I bet, he shoves. i take time to think what he could have given that action. AsAx, KsKx, anything with a high spade (I honestly think AsXs shoves flop). I don't think I'm beat so I call. He shows As7x (why he is calling the flop x/r i have no idea, bad play honestly). river is 2s and I insta quit.

I played pretty good today. I was a bit more aggro and adjusted to the table conditions. Unfortunately, as seems the case a lot, flushes just kill me. What can I say? The two big hands where the guy rivers the flush, I got (in one case all, the other case much more than half) the money in good. Made good reads. It was just a frustrating day of flush suckouts. Oh, and then in the one major hand I play at 25nl I can't hit my flush, straight, or overcard pair. Such is poker. The bad win sometimes and the good (decent, I won't get all egotistical and call myself good) lose sometimes. It just happens. Sucks when it takes such a hit to my BR (on the brightside, I should have a +EV!)

so i decided to pretty much screw implementing single and double tables of a different limit while at another limit. probably a good idea. So I'm going to grind to $650 at 10nl before moving up full time to 25nl. in between i will play absolutely 0 hands at the next lvel

im als going to try to be more aggressive in blinds and BTN when no interest has been shown

oh and noise cancelling....kind of....headphones for the win. 4 kids 4 or under are upstairs right now. lord have mercy on my soul.

oh im also going to more aggressively top up. used to be 80bb, now im gunna try to not hit 90bb

ewww. i know its a squeeze play. but i cant call that large of a 3bet w KJs

ugh spot. CO opens (he's been loose), BTN calls (he's a whale), SB calls (he three bet the previous hand). im in BB w AQo. hindsight says to flat, but i could also 3bet andf i decided to take that line. well, OR calls and all else fold. flop is 25J (fml). its a bad spot. i absolteuly have to cbet there i think, because only the J should hit a 3bet flatting range. well, he shoves and im like YOLO! andcall. no jk i put my emo hat on and fold.

and on that table with all the action.....its like driving on a country road. whiffing through the trees

here we go high variance. no jk decided to not raise the donk bet holding an OC + NFD

well that was easy. long stretch of blah, get AQo, raise, brand spanking new player in CO min-3bets (he is also a SS). all fold to me. insta-shove. he calls with T7cc, and the fop is A4Kr no clubs, turn is 8.

well, lost the minimum with that hand. one poster, i pfr w JJ in BTN, SB and BB call poster folds. f 73Khhh. i have Jh. check check i should bet here, but i just check. turn is Kx. checks to me, now i bet looking for value from naked hearts. one caller. river 7x. he checks. i check because ill never get anything from worse than my hand. He shows KT with a heart.

thank you again bovada for posting me in UTG when i clearl have wait till BB checked.

well shortstack that was stupid. he pfr in MP, i 3bet w KK in CO, he calls and insta-jams on a 368r flop no clubs. i snap call, he shows A9cc and the turn K wins it for me

i dont think opening w K3s in button is necessarily bad when noone has limped or raised previously. it turns bad when both blinds call though preflop.

i win an AIPF w KJ! vs K9 , held buy a 3.5bb shortstack

well just lost a good chunk to quads. pfr AKo in UTG, two calers. f A77r. I bet, one guy calls. turn J. i slow down hoping to induce a bet although i should raise there....well bet. he checks too. river is 3, no flushes on the board. i bet he tank-raises. its either a slowplayed 7 or a big A (JJ less liklier). i have to call. he shows 77.

hehehe just called a pfr by a big stack w 66, flop is all high cards, he betsi fold he shows a set. all session so far.

another flush chaser hits his flush on the river. i cant do anything about it.

this has been yet another in a line of frustrating sessions. getting flopped quads and a set against in the span of 7 hands at the same table...

the tilting line heard from my mom when one of the kids cry "I know, like's so hard being a baby." I just want to punch her when she says that. It's hard for them because they don't know any better, don't bring them down like that!

Such a stupid, frustrating session. I was more aggressive, paid attention more, everything. It just goes along the line of this current swing where everyone hits no matter how long they're in the pot. It's stupid and frustrating, but fish have to eat too or else they don't keep playing. Just let them eat a different player. Because I'm tired of them flopping these extravagant hands or flopping those damned flushes.
