first hand, get a good pot. off to a decent start. well, not good pot, just a pot. which is good nonetheless

hmmmm QQ...and 3bet. ehhhhh. played pretty badly. kinda ....awkward spot when a UTG (fish, but still) pfr, 1 call, and then someone you havent seen play a hand 3bets. and I was OOP. I guess being OOP lkinda makes myh decision easier. should have 4 betteed. man so many spelling errors already. but i now avoid using the backspace button.

K3s in a min raised pot in BB...getting 8 to 1 preflop. thats a mandatory call and easy fold if i dont hit

lol min 3bet from a fish to my left in CO...w QJs and full stacked.

lost a small pot. A7hh, pfr in CO, both blinds call. f 952hxx. x x I cbet (like one of my goals were), SB folds and BB calls. t ios 5h, which gives me a lot more equity. he donks hal pot. I deem myself to be about 25% which is exactl the expressed odds given in the pot (9 hearts, 3 aces). river is 6x and he checks. i cant get him to fold a 9 (which is what i thought he had) so I check back. he had 96hh;.

KK. nice. at fishy table.

helps my EV unfortunately. but i call this every time. seen this guy open shove twice previously preflop,. i have 88 in BB and he raises in BTN. i 3bet, he shoves. he has half a stack. i snap call since he is so wreckless. oops, top of his range, he has JJ. but i river an 8. not proud of it, but ill take it and id play it the sae way again.

i should pat myself on the back. heat of the moment, foplded an OESD not getting correct expressed odds (2.3 to 1, I thinks its like 2.7 to 1). there was also a flush draw,k so not all my pouts are clean

lol 88 again for third time on same table in less than 2 orbits

mmm. middle set vs top two. was in pot and didt fop set. super glad i didnt.

i dont care about meeting the prospects, get on with the draft!

first table change, this tables a dyin

3betting IP JJ. taking the lead IP. not so sure I would have done that last week

3b AK in UTG+1 to a UTG pfr who you havent seen play too often or just flat?

when a snugger player c/r you on a flop, fold. i mean i had 66 on a 752 flop. he could be bluffingh, but i dont have to play high level thinking at 5nl. so i just fold

ill stay at this table a little longer. ws gunna leave, then a guy sat down who posted in UTG+1. hmmm.

lol at chat. guy wins a pot with AA vs KT AI on a K83 flop. the loser says "lol lucky ass". he then says "you only had a pair!" winner says "so did you idiot!!

mmm. AK>J7. o seriously iso raised pf and got 4 other callers! wth?!

MAC school getting 1st overall pick. my gf prolly happy. she goes toa MAC school

3b in the blinds when you have a hand and a player steals.

reason to love cash games: being able to have batroom breaks

lolololol anonymous tables my ass. guy on two of my tables just said the same line "im drunk and i dont give a crap! i own this table!"

and got him for a decent pot. two, actually. first one, i pfr QTs in CO, he calls in BB. F A25ddc. we both check (i should bet). t is Tc. he min bets, i decide to call and reevaluate. r is Ac. he pot bets. I tank. odds he has a flush? not really likely. i think he'd a bet an A harder. and he said he was drunk and "owning" this table. So i tank call. he shows 86xx, and I win about a 25bb pot.

the second one is a little more than a decent pot. I get AAxx in SB. UTG pfr, he calls in BTN, I make it $.65. both call. flop is J65ccx. I bet, UTG soves, BTN calls. I call. UTG shows QQ, BTN shows 74o. Neither have a club, as I don't either. turn and river pair the 6 and 5. Oh, and they were both full stacked. yeahhh...it was a 300+bb pot.

just won a SS stack. AJ>8Tcc AI on A86cxx flop.

Barkaveous Mingo. I have not heard of him. But players from LSU have to be good. They cant all be as bad as JamarcusRussel.

Jackts get a goal toooo

ahhhh lost a 80% BI to the table fish on second to last hand. he'd been constantl raising, so I get it AI pf w AKs. oops, he has AA. oh well.

wow. I was up before leaving the table that I had 2 1/2 BIs on.

So. Yeah. Let's hope that was me breaking out of a downswing. I did what I set out to do with my long post earlier today. I was more aggressive in late position, I played with hands that were of weaker strength given the opponent, and I feel like I got more value. I can't be 100% sure, but I did focus on that. It helped that I got slightly better cards, especially during the second half of the session. I only flopped 2 sets and only had 3 overall. And the pots weren't all that big either. I feel I need to steal a bit more though. The reason I don't is because I have no idea what to do with J9o or A4 if I'm 3bet, since I can't fold 100% of the time. Let's hope this is the start of some momentum.

I thought my last post was a bit shorter than it actually was. Oh well. Turns out I won't be going tomorrow to our family reunion, it was cancelled. Kind of bummed out about it, but it'll give me some time by myself which is always nice. So I'll be playing a session or two tomorrow as well. Nice win by the Blue Jackets last night also . Now we need to win Saturday night and hope either Detroit loses in regulation saturday or Minnesota only gets 1 point in their last two games. Or Minnesota can get 0 points in their next two games and then we get just 1 point and we'll be in .

The mantra for my session today will be smart aggression. Not just aggression for the sake of it, but pick spots. Backdoor flush and straight draws do have some equity OTF. Small equity, but some nonetheless. So I gotta squeeze that out. I've also successfully cut down on the bad cards I play in the blinds. I'm 9.5/3.8 from the BB. Ideally, I'd love for the pfr to be closer to the VPIP. But I'm not sure how to go about that. I still need to cut down on the amount of hands I limp after other limpers in the SB too. It's at 22.5%. I've cut down on it but it's still too high. Meanwhile, I need to be playing even more hands in CO and BTN. Ideally, they'd be for raises, but I'm kind of ok with limping after other limpers in CO and BTN. We have the ideal position for any hand, but we don't want to be getting into big pots preflop with any hand, as it cuts down the value of our position and the hand starts to just play itself out.

Oh, and I looked at my graph with the last losing session added on (hasn't been 24 hours since my last session). At 5nl, I'm an awesome $12 under EV in just over 5,000 hands. Overall, I am $18 under EV in exactly 6,000 hands. It isn't much under, but it helps me to know that it probably is just a run bad and in reality I'm beating the game more than I actually am. So let's brew some coffee and get at it!

I didn't bust my roll since I didn't post. But as a lot of people obviously know, Bovada had a bit of trouble yesterday getting DDOS (I'm not entirely sure what that it). Everytime I logged on, it'd take a long time to log on and would log me on 50% of the time. This was before work. So I decided to just play a small session after work. After work comes and I log in and go to any table. It would turn the table black, then say you are disconnected, then it'd connect me only for me to see a table when 75% of the players were timing out and disconnecting. So I didn't play a hand at all yesterday. (and I wasn't like some other scumbags who intentionally registered in big MTTs since everyone was sitting out)

That's probably a good thing, as I wasn't 100% feeling like playing. I always feel that way whenever I have to work in the nighttime. Today, I wake up and I have the house to myself for the next 8 or so hours! A week later and my girl would be over here. Sigh. Oh well, I have much time, no distractions, so it will be a good day to play. And tonight, epicness! As a Blue Jackets fan living in Columbus (lived here all my life) I can honestly say the excitement level around the city rivals that of an Ohio State-Penn State football game pre sanction era (our 2nd biggest rival) for a hockey game. Of course, we need to win and either:

Detroit lose in regulation
Minnesota lose in regulation or OT
or both and we get 7th seed

OR

We lose in OT/SO and Minnesota loses in regulation

So let's eat some breakfast and get at it!

AKs first hand. should 3bet, but no reads so idk.

i was waiting to play until we made our 4th round pick. but we traded to pittsburgh. .jsdfn;oirsjgi;ohjrlihr. but we got their 3rd round pick next year. not too shabby.

hmm. pfr AJs in CO, BTN calls. he played one hand he was in BB and played passively. flop T2Jccx. I bet, he raises. I'm torn between 3betting and calling. so i just call. t is another c. icky spot. i c/f.

won two stacks already. flopped bottom set vs top two. got it AI OTR. I knew he had top two too. also rivered nut straight. guy spazz shoved on me OTR when K hit. was a 20bb pot before with a 99J3r f ad t. I put him on 9x. he had K7.

bluff catching. pfr A3o in BTN, SB calls. f 2TAr. he donks out, i call. t 2, stays rainbow. he small donks out again. i call. r 7x. he pots it. i call because:

he 3b any Ax i lose to.

I have an A

he 3b TT

and he shows T9s.

first table change.
\
ick. getting killed on one table. being aggressive but just odd spots

hit a set. omg this guy calls everything every button he has. itd be good, except ive been raising with 77 and KT and missing.

nice., this guy is friendly on one tabl. he told me nh when i doubled up. he just doubled up and i told him nh and he said "ty, glad to get that guy away from the table. he bluffed constantly". :O!

damn missed value again. QQ, guy was a fish, pfr in UTG, SB and BB call. f 898. x min donk bet i raise fold he call. t J, he checks I check (i should bet bc he has JT i believe). well, Jx. r is 5x and he pots. i call. he shows KJs. I win

just lost a flip. pfr A3hh in UTG + 1. min 3b from half stack in SB. I call. f is almost perfect, T3Qhhx. obv get it in, brick both hearts and A and 3

ickkkkkk. folded set of 55 in a gross spot. same guy w KJ hand, he limps, i limp, 3 other limpers. f 52Thhx. x to him, he pots it to $0.25, I raise to $0.80, all fold except him, he calls. t Jh he pots it. i tank and tank and begrudgingly fold. turn aggression is big hands. true, i did have ten outs but im only like 24% to hit it.

ewww. lol another loss. to a SS. he min raises in UTG (we 5 handed) one caller i 3b to .50 in BTN, UTG call. I have AcQx. f 952ccc. he bets, i raise to .16 more to put him AI, he calls. he has 99, i get no clubs on t or r

same guy, have JJ thistime. lts see what happens.

3b him, he 4b, I shove, he calls and shows AKs. board bricks out for me and I win. so i did wind up getting his stack. just...delayed

did we trade our pick again?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?

lol KK, 3 way, A comes on board, guy soves. nope

boom. get AAcx. first AA all day, 90bb stack pfr to $.20. I flat in CO bc SS in SB had shoved pf previous two hands. all folds tho. f T52ccc. he bets, i raise, he shoves, i call. he has QQcx.

callin it a session gotta use the bathroom ad a bit hungry. if its earlier in the session i just use bathroom, no point now tho.

It was a good session overall. Taught me how to build a stack, hang on when the going got tough, then keep on going when the going got good. I'm 95% sure I did the right thing in the 55 hand. And the all-ins that I lost, one I was a 2.5 to 1 underdog and though I was a flip and the other I probably was a 55-45 favorite. Still not bluffing, but don't really need to bluff. Stole more OTB and in CO with low Ax hands. That's something you probably have to do at higher levels. I'm gunna eat, maybe play some basketball, some Halo, then get in another session. Hopefully it's as good as this one!

im gunna try a session, got the game on in the background

goal fr nshv but waved off, whew

drinking tea instead of coffee. coffee gives me heartburn after eating spicy food.

whew, escaped. had KJ, one limper, i limp, SS min raises, 2 callers so i call. flop 28Kr. pot bet by UTG, I have to call, SS shoves, and UTG does the most clueless thing ive ever seen. He shoves. I snap fold and he has K8.

first set of session. limped pot in BB have 66. I bet .15 into .19. Next guy SHOVES 84bb into the pot and i snap call on a K67ccx flop. he shows...KQhh! and the 5c on t draws him dead

wrongly folded QQ. pfr in UTG, both blinds call. f AT8, SB donk bets and BB calls. it may be nitty, but most of the time one of them has a A. and im not comfortable raising on that board multiway yet.

AKs, pfr OTB. SB 3bets to .48. He has $2.90 left. I just ship it pre. calling i think is probably better. but be aggressive. b-e aggressive!

and then SS 3bets me when I have QQ. I shove, he calls, he shows AQ. no A.

first AA of night..eh pick up someone who called my iso.

no results oriented! i had 79 3 limpers i x in bb f 68Ar. i check, one pot bet, a call, then a min raise. my turn. I fold bc they are all <60bb. UTGG folds, other guy calls. turn is....the 5

JJ...3 callers....f KQwho cares. crap. hmmm...some other guy had AA tho.

pffff. lost a 50bb pot HU to a fish. 3rd nut flush vs 2nd nut flush.

but before that, bb special, flop 2nd straight and get 3 streets of value from 95. I had J7 on a 89T f.

mmmm stacked a fiah. i had KK, he had TT. called my 4bet, called my shove on J6J flop. sadly, due to my 80bb rule (top up when at or under 80bb) it wasnt a full 100bb and i would have had to top off in two hads

ugh...nashville goal.

and apparently my cities soccer team's scoreboard is on fire? theres a pic of it
on fb but the linkto the story looks shady

man i hope the cat is that loud. my brother got one before he moved back in. its nice because ours ded about a year ago. but she doesnt really like me. not attacking me, but she runs away whenever she hears me talk. shes getting better though. it took our old cat a little while to like me too.

i know boring stuff but th poker really isnt exciting now

lol ad just as i type that, i get this hand. full stacked UTG limps, 2 flds, i call w 22 OTB. both blinds play. f 234hhx check to UTG who pots it, i smooth call (probably stupid) blinds fold. t is gin 4. he pots, i raise, he shoves, i snap. he shows KK, and why you never limp with KK pf in microstakes

whew pee break., well, small one.

we need to tie this up! colorado is beating mninnesota right now.

espn trolling, they take away colorados goal.

well my alone time is done, my nephew just ran downstairs
maybe a good time to just end session, he's playing with the controls on the tv.

I played alright. Obviously hit some cards and essentially got max value from them when I hit the hands. However, I wasn't really in awkward spots. I know that's what we want, but it means I'm not raising pre-flop enough. I need to raise more pre-flop so that I get in those awkward situations so I can get used to them. This lets me play more hands, look looser, and get my big hands paid off. Oh, and I had so far my most profitable session since depositing on Bovada. Really wish I could have played longer, but it's not +EV to play when you have a 3 year old running around.

Ok, so there is something missing from this thread. A few hands. So I'm going to post a few big hands, both winners and losers. Too tired to go through and find interesting, awkward spot hands.

I see those hands and there are just pocket pairs and pocket pairs. No crazy sort of hands like a 75 or something. Maybe I don't get out of line enough!

Today is a blah day, thank you Ohio weather. I'm going to get a session in later today. Fire up a pot of coffee and try to get awake. Also, a little advice. For this upcoming session, should I mix in a couple of 10nl tables since I am over $230 or just stay at 5nl for the time being?

was supposed to start an hour and a half ago. then my nephew came barging downstairs so i played xbox and lightsabers with him for a bit

also mixing in 2 10nl tables. this is bc i feel i can handle it. 2 10nl, 2 5nl. also helps with the bonus aspect. i think 100 pts away from $50 bonus. and already had to switch one 5nl table. one full orbit, nobody played a hand. heh, nooooo

not setmining OOP...unless there is 1 or more caller to a pfr

lost a 100bb (total) pot. Q8dd in BB, 3 limpers, i check. the flop is beautiful, T97ddx. sb checks, i bet, one limper min raises me, fold fold to me. he has $2.30 behind. a call feels week even though i have 15 outs (assuming he has a Tx or overpair or set) so I just shove. he calls and shows TT. t is 9d which fills him up but i still have 6d and Jd as outs. a J does come, but its the Jh.

is a wee bit confusing...seeing a $4 stack and thinking "oh he's full stacked enbough" and then realizing "oops, nope, thats the 10nl table"

this has been a rather uninteresting session. no spots, no hands, eh

lol. oops. guy limps pf, i iso raise w AKs, he shoves, i call. why do i call? bc last hand he iso'd with 64s and called down bets on a 34898 board and he'd overall been playing fishy. he shows KK. A spikes OTF for me

i cant even remember spots bc my nephew once gaain came down here. its like they dont ****ing watch him ever.

a bunch of raising, iso'ing, and a lil bit of limping. anmd a whole lot of folding

ok got it all settled down. its seriously, to you young ones without a kid, highly tilting and frustrating when youre trying to play and theres a kid screaming and running around you. and its not even my kid lol

lol i get AA. i limp (and i break my rule for a verrrry good reason) because the guy in BB has shoved preflop the last 3 hands. he checks this time of course. and i flop a set! and i have to fold OTR bc theres 4 to a straight and flushes. thats entirely my fault though

ehhhh.....KJ in SB, 10bb stack limps in UTG all else fold. what do we do preflop? iso or complete?

i complete flop is K87hhx. I bet BB raises. he has me covered and i havent seen him get out of line. SS ofc folds. what do we do then?

bb special? 42d, f 24Qddx, x i bet sb calls. t 9d x x. r 3d x x. he shows Q2hh and i take pot lol

played that hand badly. KQ, pfr from someone who seems compotent, 1 caller so i call OTB. one other caller, f TQT. x OR pot bets fold i just call *i should raise i think). all else fold. t 5, he bets i call. river A, he bets....i have to fold.

wow. fish who'd been getting luck just 3outed me...ofc at 10nl. I get JJ in SB, 2 limpers, i iso, he raises and Im thinking yes! SS calls so I shove. they both call. fish: Q9o. me: JJ SS: 44. K7K, awesome, turn A not as awesome but still good, river Q and im just like w...tf.

omg i keep seeing this fish just suck out on everyone at this table. 3rd time since JJ hand

lol i need to start getting it in bad more often. iirc, ive been in 4 AIs. 2 of them I got it in bad (AKs v KK AIPF, AQ v J9 in 3b pot to SS on 292 f) and 2 of them were good (JJ v Q9o v 44 AIPF, Q8dd v TT on 79Tddx f). all 4 times, the hand that was behind won.

lol seems like everytime i take a 10nl shot....well, all two times...i run dry and bad.

win a decent pot w JTs....not bad

this guy is definitely tilting to my right. he jost lost to a SS AIPF KK<TT. T OTF

whew ginm, but nothing. AT, f ATT against a looser player x x t K x i half pot it, he folds. oh wel;l;

ummmm....i just saw that. tilted guy bets on 6TKssx flop. guy shoves for three more. tilted person calls. tilted person has.....22 no spades! ....AND IT HOLDS!?!?!?! bc the shover had 98 of spades. he faded 18 cards TWICE.

wrapping up session....

definitely just won a pot i had 0 business winning. 1 limp, 220bb stack isos 2 callers, i call in bb w 22. limper folds (wtf?). f T7Qhhx. checks al around. weakness. t 7x. x I decide that everyone is weak so i bet. OR folds, BTN calls, SB folds. river is a 5 of diamonds i think. completes no draws. good spot to b/f. so i bet, BTN folds.

So this session write up is being written 35 minutes after finishing. Let me start off, before saying I ran bad, to say that there were spots I played bad. The KQ hand on the TQT flop a prime example. I really need to almost raise/f OTF there. The aces, even though I did have a very valid reason for breaking my rule, still should have been a raise pre-flop. If he is shoving, he will shove no matter what I do. Turn aggression. I really just kind of shut it down on the turn. Yeah, it's a lot because I really hit almost no flops tonight, but it's also an in general statement. It's my standard line. Bet flop. Check turn. Bet or check river. I guess it's because I don't want to over inflate the pot. But remember....this is 6 max.

With all that out of the way, I did run bad. I had some run good with AK>KK and AQ>J9 on 292 flop (seriously, calling half of your stack preflop as a shortstacker with J9? Meh.) but that was where it ended. Straights didn't get there. Flushes didn't get there (I don't know what it is with me and flushes, but I swear I get boats more often than flushes). I only flopped a set (or better) twice in 2 hours. And don't get me started on the JJ hand. Maybe it was a bad shove preflop, could have been marginal, but that Q doesn't hit the river and the session goes from losing to winning. But it's poker.

My next session I'll be playing strictly 5nl again. This time I may just stick with 5nl until the $250 mark. I'm debating whether or not to play tomorrow and leaning towards not. Not because I'm tilted but I gotta wake up and watch my nephew and then talk with OSU about re-enrolling and then work at 430. So may just be like eh.

odd, it randomly posted my blind in UTG. had a bit of trouble yesterday too. i had sit out next bb checked for like the past 5 hands. guy to my rigt leaves on his bb, and the bb goes to me and it automatically posts it instead of sitting me out

ick. first big pot, AA loses to a SS calling 15% of his stack w 66 pf. flop dry, Q65, yada yada

lol got owned by a SS fish. didnt lose a stack or anything, but lost 4 of 5 pots i pfr and he called. lol he called every time i pfr. every board was wet and missed me completely.

got a pfr and two pot sized bets from a fish w KK. not bad. caught him bluffing. pfr A9s, he calls in SB f 866ssx, he pots I call. t 6 he bets .30 i call. r 9 he bets .3 i raise he calls...with KQo?!?!? nice

the small things make me excited. new body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrush. hey, im excited by it

this isnt an overly massive session. just till 2.

wow. horrid players. calling a 4xbb raise OOP from a half stacker...with 53?!

thats an interesting spot. vs a fish nonetheless. pfr K7hh OTB, SB fish calls BB folds. F 4h8Axx. he bets .10. call or raise? im never folding. I just call, may be bad. t is 5x. he bets .20. wht do we do?

ickkkkk. mistake by me preflop. 3 limpers, dont raise AQo pf in BB, guy wins w 75o and i flop TPTK. his 7 pairs OTT after flopping two pair. meh

nothing exciting really. ehhh. down to three tables, not going to start another one with 10 minutes left

Short session. Right now I have no idea if it was winning or losing. The cashier is saying I lost $10, and I definitely didn't lose 2 buy ins. I played a bit looser and a bit more aggressive, but not overly much. And now my cashier is blacked out. Huh. I'm hungry and I have to use the bathroom. So the session was an hour and I unofficially don't know whether it was a winning or losing session.

Off of work and feeling good!....sort of. There may be something wrong with my left shoulder. I hope to god not, but I feel something off and on, usually during or after lifting something. Hopefully its just a stinger as my body gets those a lot (but never in the shoulder area). But, sad face, no golf or basketball until it gets better. I also think I figured out why my internet kept disconnecting at random times. Connecting the cords right helps just a little bit.

Haven't decided if I want one or two sessions today. But I do have a goal: Stop reading the forums. Seriously, it's just bad and a waste. Not the strategy forums, those are useful. But all the other forums. There's no point to it. Anyways, good luck with your day all!

Also, tonight I will post my Excel graph after my last session for the month of April. It obviously doesn't show EV, and I've decided for now to leave bonuses out of it. It's looking like it was a great month for 5nl! And an absolute trainwreck for 10nl, I'm talking upwards of -40 or -50bb/100 (through ~800 hands). But at last check, I was at 14bb/100 at 5nl (through ~6500 hands).

I think your value sizing may be off a little bit in some spots, unless it is specifically to induce a bluff/spaz raise. You dont really need to be balanced with your sizing at 5NL, when it doubt go bigger for value.

i keep doing these. I dont know if anyone reads them. but it helps me to focus better anbd since i cant really look back immediately on hand histories, this works just as well.

hmmm....seems to be a glitch? people's cards stay with them even though they folded.

omg dont bust the fish/. he had 500bb when i sat and he has played and stayed in eveyr hand. now at 550bb. :O

hahahaha a fight between players. but one istrying to educate another. no esta bueno

10 minutes in and im already changing tables.

squeeze. safer squeeze w AKs, but still.

uhhhhhhhh........my mouth dropped agape after this hand. 3betting preflop. bet, raise, reraise shove, calls OTF. another shove OTT. multiway 3 players.
flop: 89Jxhh
turn: 3h
river: Qx
The hands? one player had AJo (no heart). one had 77 w one heart, he was the one AI on the flop. the other had 36o no hearts.
ummmmmmmmmmmm...........what?

just won 36o guy's entire 70bb stack. nut straight vs top two. niceeeee

still havent had any tough spots. did play a hand somewhat badly. call a fishes limp in CO w A6h, call down two 2bb bets from BB on T5T4ssdd board, he then pots on a 6d river. im not sure if that's too bad, but i need to be in the pot, not standing on the sidelines like a cheerleader

i found the right tables. these players are terrible.

god i really wish that guy wasnt in the sb. he seems competent and thus makes me stealing very blehh

first set today.

also just saw some have a 6 card straight flush. they had 27hh, the board was 34Jhhh5h6h.

first big pair today, 40 minutes in

uneasy feeling w QQ. was at the 500bb guys table. preflop raiser was the only guy who hadnt played a hand the whole time at the table. i 3bet hit and he calls. cbet on low flop and i take it down

noit sure if its a bad fold preflop not opening 55 in UTG+1. the 500bb stack in BB and raises preflop 50% of the time to 5x the bb.

urghhhhhh why does the only reg seeming player at my four tables insist on playing back at e? three times he has played backat me, im moving tables.

mannnn what is it with reg looking people playing back at me today? another full stacker 3bet me. i pfr in CO, he 3bet me in BTN. but it was a min 3bet. I have AJcc, so i call. f A96xcc. i bet, he raises, i shove. i know at worst he has AA, but its more likely he has AK or AQ or AJ. and besides, even if im behind its a flip (at worst 9 outs, at best 12). he tank calls with AK (K not a club), a club comes OTT and I take the 200bb pot.

killing it on one of the tables. almost up to 300bb stack.

and reheating coffee in the coffee maker. stays heating too long and it gets stale

omg this table is awesome. the 500bb guy dropped to just 360bb. another awful player is at 150. im at 160. its so awesome! just wish i could get better than 10-4o

omg i jhust hit middle set onn that table. with a A on the board. uhhhh....wow. ok. heres what happened. one limper in UTG. i limp. huge stack fish is in BB. everyone else limps till SB, who raises to $0.15. everyone calls. I have 99. Flop: A94ccx. SB bets, BB calls, UTG raises, I reraise, CO shoves his small stack, all fold to UTG who call. Turn is glorious A. UTG checks, I shove, he snap calls. he shows 44. CO shows lik 25o lol. And I take the 280bb pot

ummm....so I just won a $27 pot. at 5nl. 6max. AIPF. So now I have a 675bb stack. AA vs KK vs JJ....and it held!

its tough to play AA HU. well, not HU but BvB.

wow. im surprised i didnt get another stack. 2nd nuts vs nuts. and he flatted my river bet. thats....wow.

wrapping up session....its a good one

I'll be the first to admit I ran bad or played bad or etc, and I'll be the first to admit I ran ****ing good. I didn't play my A game. I was cutting down on the limping and raising and such, but I felt like I wasn't playing my A game. This is probably due to the fact that my eyes feel heavy as crap. You know that feeling you get on the top of your eyelids after sweating a lot? They become heavy. Ummmm...so I think I may just move up to 10nl tomorrow. Just a hunch. I'll post later with an insane LOLbrincrease graph and a baller 5nl screenshot.

The end of April, and the month was about getting my bearings. I started the month off wanting to make a side income with live poker while going to college and working part-time. I quickly realized a BR was definitely needed in order to attain this goal. So I decided to take 1 normal live buy in and put it in online. I figure if I can grind it up to a good roll, I'd have the tools I needed to embark on a live poker shot. And if it doesn't work, meh it was just $200.

The results have been a roller coaster to say the least. I've put in a decent amount of hours, 33 and a half in 3 weeks isn't bad for someone with a part time job. It could be better and more, but I don't want to risk burning myself out. I clearly beat 5nl. It's softer than other 5nls that I have played and even softer than a lot of 2nl tables I played in my day. There are still leaks in my game, but I know I am a better player today than what I was 2 1/2 weeks ago. And I am working on it.

The shots I took at 10nl were mainly failures. Whether it's the money jump that intimidated me or the play is that much better or I ran bad or I just played awful (or a combination of all four), I know I can do better. And I will do better next month in May.

Here are the things I need to work on next month:

-3betting. I am very inconsistent with it and need to do it more I believe. I'm at 4%
-Play more hands. I am 18.3/11 right now. Ideally, 22/19 is where I'd like to be at. But I can't help but limping when fish consistently limp and I have hands like 76s or 44.
-Steal more. 19.5% won't cut it. I am 31% from the BTN though and 25% from SB. Not entirely sure what the optimal stats are for that.
-Bet more postflop, call less postflop. And as mdroz said (I believe he said this), correct my bet sizing.

Here are some goals for next month:

-11,000 hands. Should be easily attainable, about 40 hours.
-Have a winning month at 10nl. This month, in just over 1,000 hands, I had a winrate of -34bb/100. I know I didn't play that bad, it's almost impossible, and it's such a short sample.
-Improve all of the stuff from above.
-Get the BR over $500. This one sounds hard to do, but with a $50 bonus coming up and working on the next part of the bonus, I could feasibly get to it.

And as of after yesterday's sessions, I was a 11.4bb/100 winner at 5nl through 7,100 hands.

And before I forget, here is awesome picture I took from tonight's action:

(Yes, the maximum buy-in is $5.00. And this was NOT the table that had the 500bb fish sitting at it. Wound up leaving with over 300bb on that table as well.)

Nice way to end the month. Just keep grinding you can obviouly beat the games and your 10NL shot was run bad. I like your goals as well. Not so far that you cant reach them, but defenitely feasible if you put in the effort.

Thanks! The hands part seems low, but when you take into account the fact that I can only play 4 tables at a time and that only gives me ~260 hands per hour, it becomes a decent amount. Plus I've got some time off this month, gf comes back from college Saturday which should take up some time and my birthday is this month and I'd be damned if I'm playing poker on that day. In fact I better be out on the golf course, only good way to spend a birthday in my opinion.

Speaking of days off, I'm taking today off. I have a 3p-9p shift at work and I don't feel like loading up tables for an hour if that. The grind shall continue tomorrow afternoon when I can 100% focus on poker and not rushing things. Good luck all today!

Feels good to be off of work and knowing I don't have to go back until 8am Saturday morning. Which means it's time for some poker! Starting out with 4 10nl tables today. I'll have a 5 BI rule: If I drop 5 BIs at a new level, I go back down and start again. Let's just hope I don't run bad at 10nl now.

Also imported the hands. I'll say I've never won 8+ BIs in one session. I think my record was a paltry 4 BIs (not including 2nl) at 10nl on Full Tilt. It doubled my already (kind of) crushing winrate for 5nl up to 21.5bb/100. While it doesn't seem like a lot to some of you, it was record breaking and surreal for me.

seriously, almost no free tables? 10nl must be all regs lol

lol a guy sat at a table i was starting. it was just me vs him. he then...sits out?!?!?! lol i was like "pussy",. i straight up[ left the table.

nothing interesting the first 15 minutes.

not results oriented but urgh. pfr KQo in UTG, two callers. f 6AJ, x I check multiway, guy bets .6 into .9, one caller. i decide to fold since i have gutshot. turn? T. and I would have won both stacksd as they went AI. oh well

won a SS AI. 88>J6s on 699Q board.

thats been it for interesting things the first half hour. ouch

finally first interesting spot. UTG min raises, CO 3bets, I have JJdx in BTN. what do i do? I decide to flat. flop is 256ddx. UTG bets .8 into $2.CO flats. I have UTG labeled as a loose/passive player. no reads on CO. should i raise hre or flat? I flat weakly and turn is 6x. UTG checks and CO shoves. now what?

lol pfr ATo in CO, fish in BB min 3bets, I flat. F 2KK, he bets 1/2 pot and I raise. i know now i rep nothing. he tank flats and i decide im done with the hand, he has to have something decent. t is Q and he bets 1/2 pot. I fold. he shows 32s. eh, beat me

urgh save for better spots. QQ, bet in UTG, one caller and other player 3bets. 4betting sucks. maybe. idk.

wow. just lost to a river. AK<67o. on a A54 flop, K turn, 3 river. then lol insta leaves. oh well.

lol 4 out of 5 possible callers with a pfr.

oh boy. set over set. that definitely signals the end of my session.

Wow. Well, I guess I was due a nice kick in the balls. Hit nothing, got nothing, and when I did, they had better. Christ if I could just run ok when moving up levels. I can't even look over my hands immediately to see what I did wrong. I wasn't getting bored or frustrated not hitting or connecting, which is good. I have no idea what it is, I guess I just run extremely horrible going up to 10nl. It wasn't the jump in money that got me psychologically. It was awful cards. I don't think I can find a fold with the AK<67o hand. I priced him out of the pot. He just stayed in. This number will be ugly, brace yourselves.

55 minutes
-$32.81
BR: $228.55

(For those of you curious, it means I've now lost $67.52 in approximately 1,250 hands at 10nl...or a WR of -54bb/100. I'm certain even my nephew could do better than that lol)

4 tables of 10nl; round 2

omg if there is an openiong at a table, people swarm to it at 10nl

ooooo set. at least it wasnt set over set lol

bunch of limpers, AKo on BTN. ugh. put a big raise pf, only way

AA, no goes. oh well.

hmmm. double gutter. lets play.

got the straight, then lost to a SS calling a BvB shove. he had KQs, I had 88. flops the Q. std.

damn. 3bet a guy who stole past 2 consecutive hands w A7s, he calls., f QJ6. I'm lighting money on fire cbetting that flop.

pfff. so far, another crappy session. like, nothing going good or right for me

hahaha omg. just a 20bb pot, but i have 96, board is 93343. of course fish has the case 3.

well, i got about as much money as i could with toip set there.

ick.crap spot with AA. perhaps one of the most interesting hands ive played.

I played the past 4 hands, all with good cards but they only saw TT. UTG bets, I raise to $1. IUTG hd been in a decent amount of pots, and the last 3 with me. he calls.
Flop: Q85xss. he checks, I bet 1.6 into 2. i figure he has something like 99+, AJs+. He calls.
Turn: Jx He checks. I tank. With the pot and board the way it is, any hand that beats me should have bet, and I do know that he bets his fair share. I could get a call from Qx. KK. Not TT or lower. Spade draws might call too if he believes he has a shot at an overpair. so I shove.

man i swear, the players just sense weakness and they pot pot pot. but I cant call his river bet. BvB im in SB. all fold, i pfr w JJ, he calls flop is dry K83. I cbet, he calls. turn is 7. I bet again (one of my goals, dont put just one bullet in chamber). He call again. At this point, he has to have me beaten. I cant pull the third barrel on the 6 river. He pots it and i cant call. the board is way too dry for my JJ to be good much.

lol got a guy tilting.

gettimg a bit of traction going, keep on fighting.

lol the guy wh is tilted is awesome. he said "arghhhh i think i should just break my laptop" "throw it and hope it breaks"

I reply "how can you throw your LAP?" (notice lap, not laptop. chat tilt him)

he then goes on to describe how he is going to throw his laptop in chat i kid you not. and how exactly it breaks. my response? "no hablo ingles" "i need a visual representation"

he goes like urghhhh then rebuys for full

balls. balls. but not enough. min raise from UTG+1, 3bet from CO. I have AKo in BB. I wanted to flat, but hate flatting OOP. so I 4bet, planning on foplding to any shove. CO caled, and I couldnt bring myself to barrel on a T82 flop, 8 turn, or 3 river. he didnt either though. he had AK

damn. go to a new table, all SS 40bb or less. UTG bets, he played every pot since i got there. BTN calls, I raise in SB w QQsx. both call. both have like 2.50 left. flop 933ssx. snap shove. UTG folds, BTN calls. he has A7ss. (idk why he's in the pot but oh well). he spikes A river. then rathole leavesa. lol i love it when fish do that

extremely nitty to fold AQo in BB to one raise, but i hadnt seen that guy raise preflop all session and i dont like my options against him

solid board for jacks, AQ5

my phone scks down here. dead serious, where i live is naturally in a dead zone for some reason. qwe're in between the outskirts of Columbus and a hodunk redneck town. its only like a 7 mile strip between the outskirts and the town. redneck town, perfect reception. outskirts? perfect reception. my house? nothing. and its not like a no population zone, this area probaly has 2000-3000 people in a 1-2 mile square radius. Im roaming when im outside wtf

lol just lost an AI OTF to a 13bb player. me AK he Q5o flop JK5. turn 5 river Q

my gf just calls. shes in a bad mood. i dont like it when she is. just because she always gets so emo and quiet when it does happen. But I was able to get her out of the funk

hehe just got a donkeys stack. been dry action for a little while, get 88 in UTG and pfr

end 1130p

Successful night. I was down early, not a full buy in but a decent amount. I fought back though. I really tried hard to be the raiser preflop. I iso'd with 88, which is something I don't usually do. I 3bet with A7s from the SB, which again I almost never do. I wasn't as afraid of being 3bet, which is a major point for me. It's perhaps one of my greatest leaks is being afraid of the 3bet preflop. I feel like there's a greater probability it's going to happen when I play a lot of consecutive hands. So I fold some hands I'd usually play. Not anything like AA or JJ, but like 55, KJo, suited A, even as high as A9o. Not sure how bad that is, but it's something I'm working on.

This session I really kind of got out of the way if they got aggressive but tried everything in my power to stay the aggressor. Patience, sort of. Hopefully tonight was the start of ending my insane 10nl bad streak.

I can't believe its 430 already. Very disappointing. It's not that I've been postponing wanting to play, because I do want to play, it's just that its such a nice day outside that it is a shame to spend it playing poker. So my plan is two smaller sessions today. Now hopefully I can run good some more at 10nl, because I haven't lost the 5 BI shot yet. And it felt good to win last night, even though it was less than a BI. Big confidence boost considering the night started looking just as bad as the previous 5 times I played 10nl on Bovada (5 is an arbitrary guess).

Good luck all!

tried starting a table. guy wouldnt play me so i leave. know he was a bumhunter too from the fact he bought in for full and did same thing yesterday

first decent pot of the day, win OTF w KK...not bad

you know something? i read the forums here. a bunch of the strat talked seems above my league even though i do study and some of their sayings make sense. then i look at some of the hands they play and their results and it's like....wtf?

AK whiff

AJ off in BB, 2 limpers....raise or just check?

trying something, iso in CO w KJo....aggression...well worked outgood. limper folded, blinds folded...as good of a results as possible i guess

table withj at least two droolers...i like

damn i knew i shouldt have made a move with such a bad bet size...flatted AJo in BB after a pfr at the reggy table i was about to leave (guy was in UTG+1_ flop 575ssx x he bets i call. turn 2, i check he bets 20% of the pot....its either weak or really strong, i raise and he snap raises...lol im not stupid. he shows 22

damn im missing flops again. cant be aggressive either or cbet because they're donking on the flop

semi-bluffs for the win

ok there is a guy at the table playing with 10bb. should be illegal or be forced to top up

secind time guy has called my pfr in SB then donk pot bets....probablky a fish

oooo flopped a set in a 3b pot multiway...but hard for him to call a river bet with how the action went with a hand i beat. i rase pf in UTG+1 w QQ, BTN who is a fish calls and BB who seems decent 3bets but only to $1. I flat since I have position and so does the fish. flop is QA4 rainbow. BB checks. I check since the board is so dry and so does BTN. turn is 2. BB checks and I bet 1.8 into 2.8 because i have to get money into the pot somehow. BTN folds and BB tank-calls. river is T and BB checks. he isnt calling turn with TT. i highly doubt he 3bets

missing with Ax again...uh oh

damn kid who bets pot every time didnt bet when I had something

i just verbalize the next card, which was also the best card in the deck for me. sweet!

flopped trip A from BB....no kicker though...decent pot.

about to wrap session up

probably a losing session, i was in my Bish game. improved over the course and stopped limping as much (even though the cards i got were good for multiway pots)

flop a good one!......eh still win the last pot of session.

Kind of disappointed with myself. Sat down and played but didn't really have the sharpest of mindsets. I did and do want to play, that wasn't the issue. My mind just wasn't sharp if that makes sense. I probably shouldn't have played or maybe just shut down a bit earlier, but I figured what could one short session hurt? I was probably not sharp because I hadn't warmed my thinking up. Usually I go through and look at some hands in the uNL forums before starting, but I didn't this time and I haven't really done anything mentally stimulating. Hence, B-game. A nice surprise though is booking a win (however small) when I thought it was a loss.

Not too disappointed I didn't get to get a second session in yesterday, I had a decent time doing other stuff away from poker and work. I am going to get a session in later today, longer than an hour (unless I run bad at 10nl, like that could ever happen :P ) so there is that. I must say, so far I'm not as disappointed with the results as I would be if my life hinged upon it. I do miss the sort of variety that came with my PS/FT joint challenge where I was trying to climb both cash games and SNGs, but this is the climate we live in. The downswings and run bad are kind of just a laugh it off, brush it off kind of thing. It doesn't feel as bad when it happens, but the winning sure does feel good. Anyways, good luck all!

EDIT: just checked my account, got a $40 bonus? Apparently I misinterpreted how the bonuses are paid out, so whopee! BR at $276.08, starting now

a table with 29% players per flop. whod wanna play there??

a 300bb stack to my right showing every hand he wins....sounds god

how often do we pfr JTo in UTG+1?

the delayed cbet...gets another bet. its a new move in my arsenal. looking at flops and realizing im either way ahead or way behind. like having JJ on a 48K flop. im way ahead or way behind. so why not make it look like i missed the flop then he is more likely to call the cbet on the turn.

lol. when in doubt, 4bet AK

i swear my neighbors are obsessed with their grass. they cut it everyday. today theyre cutting it because i cut ours yesterday.

but more withthe AKo hand. I had position as he 3bet me from BB. I was in UTG. I thought he was a fairly not good player. OOP, i almost will most definitely 4bet it. IP, I feel it's a toss up (with 100bb stacks). maybe im wrong though, idk.

AA twice in 4 hands at a table. both times, limps, i isqueeze pre

first flopped set but very scary board in a limped pot

another flopped set, another scary board

the tables seem super reggy today. passive reggy though, like no action

soooo many full stacks i hope theyre fish

ok, 2x donk pot bet OTF, thats smart

and again, but preflop! hilarious lol

its good when you have AA and the flop comes down all one of your suits

88 has been lucky so far...

fold to 3bets OOP...

man this post so far has seemed really lame. not much good, interesting, thinking spots

flopped flush....ehhh good pot

spent 1 hour watching live stream of US Chess championships...and wore my only star wars shirt to work too. lol #nerdgasm

boom! ok, 4 handed tabler, all limp, i check in BB w JTcc. Flop: AhKc9c. you know what I'm doin. guy gets really aggressive in a limped pot. cant really have a set, only real hands are Ax and K9. I shove, he SNAPS with Ac5h. turn is 9h, river is beautiful 3c, and I ship the 190bb pot

i tried 3b OTB against a 1/2 stacker. he snap shoves. no thanks.

driving me crazy,. my work plays the same songs on the same 24 hour loop. so every morning when im trying to be pissed off at the world for beingthere in the morning they song "call me maybe" plays at 830am. I used to hate the song bc my brother played it all the time. why him, idk. and its so catchy it cheers me up. . i even caught myself....dont tell anyone...singing it! wtf!

calling pfr with suited connecters multiway with 100+bb players...definitely +EV

damn. guy i had trouble with just got soul owned. not soul owned, but owned nonetheless by quads and idk how the hell he plays such a big pot with two possible overpairs on the board and no possible flush draws

thinking through all the hands this session, i have not been dealt KK or QQ. and its been about an hour and a half. compensation? 4 or 5 AA.

this guy on my left is calling evcery single pot preflop and its highly annoying

:0 i dont get how people can be so stupid lol. i just saw a limp-3bet shove with J5 (i wasnt in the pot). it was even offsuit!

and then a major whale omg....i know he is a fish. i pfr AKo from BTN, whale calls in SB, BB 3bets, I decide to 4bet. Both call. whale has a 72bb stack to start. flop is A25ccc. whale shoves. BB folds. I think for a little bit and call. he has....tada Q7hh. bricks out for him, I take the 200+bb pot

then table dried after that, left. not gunna go to another one withsuch few time remaining.

Wrapping tables up now,,,

This session started bland. Nothing really going, pretty much dropping blinds and pfr due to not hitting the board or being played back at. The pots I were taking down were pretty small. The good thing is that there was really just one interesting spot, and for some reason I didn't write it down in this thing. Re-thinking it over, I played it bad and as a result, got stuck in the bad spot. I cbet on the flop, if he calls and checks on the turn, I can check and call a smaller river bet by him. He might have had it though.

While I did win my all-ins and the big pots, I lost the small ones. Not much I can really do in those spots, but I will review them to see.

a little late but was too tired to play earlier so napped after work. headphones in since someone is obscenely blarring music i hate (rap/r&b)

i went through pokeit today and found some filters i never knew were there. interesting stuff through almost 10k hands. one thing, im winning at showdown at an absurdly high clip, something like 63%.

omg i just saw a player win a 120bb pot...with a pair of 4s?!?!?!?

oh god....two players at my table talking about how fishy and gold bovada is and how tough carbon is....not good

come on, all fold and let me be HU

once again, when in doubt 3bet...i mean 4bet

AK>A9 AI OTT 89KQ board. score one for the good guys!

seriously, i need to start 4betting AK.

first KK in a long time...eh 26bb pot not bad

im starting to feel less like a dick when i iso raise

gotta hit when i play with the uber fish...at east A high

soooo excited for dinner tonight. salmonnnnnnn!

what....the ****.......?? guy shoved w A high on the river and was called...and won!

guy is berating fish. why? fish raises preflop, guy just flats his bet. flop is A87cxc. fish pot bets, guy flats. turn is 5x. fish bets, guy min raises, fish flats. river is 6c. look at the board. four to a straight, three to a flush. fish bets, guy shoves, fish snap calls with J4cc. guy has AA for a floipped set of AA. the absolute worst AA ive ever seen played. and he is whining and bitching over it.

just won a flip, AKs>QQ.

lol i got the guy whining about AA all worked up. awesome

omg./ a table with a 700bb stack and the shortest one is 220bb.

and this crying baby screaming...fries the nerves

quads after thge short break to see why the baby was crying. nice

god other than the quads hand im getting murdered on that table...just zilch

left another table bc in the chat they were saying "dont tap the aquarium." not about me, but hearing that means you gtfo

nuts. no action in a family pot

just won a pot with apair of twos. im happy about it, decent pot also

aggressiveness does pay off im starting to see

lol i havent hit a set yet today...trips dont count

i havent changesd tabls this much in a session in a long time

this has seriously been one of the slowest 20 minutes of playing on Bovada ive had.

first flopped set lol. of course its a dry board with AA

fish are busting left and right. left another table, not replacing it this time though

calling 3bets w QTs OOP is obvipously +EV

wrapping up session now

It was a grind. The hands weren't big for me, the pots weren't big, and there was only really ever 2 all ins, and those weren't big pots. I feel better about how I played today than I do about yesterday. I still think I need to loosen up a bit more with added aggression pre-flop. And once again, I wasn't really in tough spots at all for the day. I'll take a winning session though.

I love the morning. Not the early morning, but like waking up at 8am or 830 and being able to enjoy the fullness of the morning. This thread isn't about hookers and booze and partying. There are no threadsavers because if you only read for the threadsavers and not the poker, I don't want you reading my thread. I'm simply just trying to get better at poker, improve my discipline, and move on with life. That being said, I haven't felt comfortable enough to post much stats or graphs until the obligatory 10k hands, which pokeit says I passed with Saturday's session. I have a lot to learn and a lot of leaks to plug basically. So, without further ado, here we go!

This is the overall graph from pokeit. Disappointed that I don't know exactly how to have it show in overall hands rather than sessions, but I'll take it.

This is from 5nl

This is from 10nl (does not include yesterday's session)

Here are my overall stats from 10nl and 5nl

Here are my positional stats

And lastly for pictures, here is an lol picture of how my top hands are doing. Notice how bad I am with AK.

Some trends I've noticed:

I'm losing WAY too much from the SB. Period. I'm also somehow winning a good amount from the BB. The reason why I'm losing so much from the SB is because I'm limping far too often. Not as first in the pot; If I'm first in the pot in SB I'm raising 100% of the time. But a couple of limpers in SB and I have like a KQo or 88, I'm not comfortable iso raising those hands from SB yet.

I also should, as ironic sounding as it is, lose more at showdown. It means I'm probably not calling down light enough or being too aggressive to get more money into pots on earlier streets. But I don't know. And I definitely need to play more hands pre-flop. But that's my analysis, what do you guys think?

Good morning/afternoon all!

So I'm in sort of a pickle with this playing thing. I obviously didn't play yesterday because I thought I had to watch my nephew all day before working at 3. Turns out I didn't, but he was still around the entire time. Tomorrow I'm unsure if I'll get a session in or not and I probably won't be able to. So it leaves today, and even today is kind of a mess because I work a ****ty 3 hour shift starting at 6pm today and have to watch my nephew before work. Which leaves either tonight after work or right now to get a session in, and both options suck. I despise playing this early because I remember trying to play early in the day during the PS/FT days and the tables were always so terrible.

So I will get right on it here soon and hope I can squeak a session out. Good luck everyone!
