Hey there,

Used to be a stars reg playing midstakes but after a year i finished uni i realised i burned so much money by just playing vs anybody and not bumhunting enough all for some **** ego. So i decided to move onto the asian apps when they were booming. Unfortunately this made me incredibly lazy and i did the bare minimum to get by as I would end up doing only 4 months worth of volume a year. The apps this year have been pretty brutal on me, random account blocks for no reason, agents stealing money, getting put in heavily colluded games, ive just had enough. My mental health was never great but its been at an all time low this year so ive decided to go back to my roots and come back to stars.

I will playing stars + one other site to tick me over from the high variance of stars. Ill keep that site secret though. Been back on stars for two weeks and got some nice fish-heat. Games have massively passed me though as i havent studied in 2-3 years since being on the apps. Done maximum 10 hands on pio in that time and i dont talk poker strat with anyone. These regs are super tough now.

Results in two weeks:

Scenario 1) villain gets to the river and can only ob 150%
Scenario 2) villain gets to the same river and can now bet 50% and ob 150%

Does every hand that calls in scenario 1 to the ob always call the ob in the second scenario? Or do the calling range changes due to some value/bluffing combos moving from 150% to 50%?

Thought i would try be an mtt pro today, ended up losing 350$. As soon as i enter i jst want to quit them. They suck. Means i didnt get to play on stars much but cash went well:

Interesting Q. I would guess that blocking effects for bluff catching become more nuanced in scenario 2 because certain bluff combos for villain are going to fit better in either the small or bigger size.

JJ def not too thin, mandatory jam even

as for the scenario 1 vs scenario 2 thing I don't think the defending range should change much given villain can't really start overbluffing to warrant for the lack of bluffs at 50% sizing, the value bets at 50% sizing can't really be done at 150% I think

if villain has no option to bet 50% then he would just end up checking a lot more, haven't done a lot of tests on that but that's my take on it

200z regs just come across much tougher than 100. Definitely feeling a bit more lost playing there. Could just be variance but likely a dog in the zoom pools. I quickly swap out zoom pools for normal tables when i get them.

Goals for next month:
1. 75k+ hands
2. 5k$+
3. Stop checking results all the time. Last week was stupid as i kept constantly checking if i was over/under 10k in sessions. Such a dumb mental leak to have.
4. Join gym and go 20x
5. Do some actual pio work which isnt just checking if i played hand correct

Im sure nobody will tell me but anyone recommend another site/skin to play to just two table 200nl? Based in europe currently. Ive only ever played on stars and asian so i have no idea if other sites are soft or have tables running

On a side note, im convinced fridays are unbeatable. Yet to win one so far. Whales are just too good against me.

Not going so well so far.

Ive got to have one of the worst mental games for a professional. Im good in the sense i dont tilt with ingame decisions and end sessions very quickly when i get stacked multiple times. But my mood is totally dependant on results of poker. If im winning im totally happy and really confident. If i go on small little downswings it totally ruins my day, often ruins my sleep, i think i become the worst reg compared to the field (not that it should even matter? should just focus on decisions, doesnt really matter where you rank). Feel i wont win again and when i previously won its just down to luck and my small downswings become a false reality of whats to come. H2n really doesn't help with not looking at results. There is noway to hide results and your screen name is at the top of the list everytime you load it. The only way to fetch hands is to look at your results. Then theres the need to win a few months back to back to set myself up financially again which adds to it all aswell. Maybe i should hire bena as a mental game coach . Not even a 10bi downer at top stake after previously winning 10.5k$ and im being a pussy lol. Yet i would have snapped took 8.5k$ and been happy if offered it 1 month ago. Its annoying how the brain can be so logical and know its being stupid, but still continues to be so illogical at the same time and override the logical. I have that problem strong in all areas of life tbh from poker, to social anxiety, to random depression swings.

I think we all have these turmoils to an extent. Some just have it better than others.

The one thing that never fails to help me is reviewing. Even if it turns out I misplayed, I've at least got the logical side now helping me via knowing I won't make the same mistake(s) again, and shall I hypothetically play the same sequence of hands again, I'll play them all well enough to know the loss must be variance, giving me some hope for the future.

We've all got our illogical quirks. Stopping them seems impossible at times, but the aforementioned does trick myself back out of it.

Gl grinding out of the hole!

Nice thread GL. I really relate to poker affecting my mood too much and feeling like worst reg in the field after losing a bunch of buyins even if I am up 10bi overall. The human brain is very irrational.

Gl grinding out of the hole!
thx

edit: i misread i think, yes the nl 6max in that stakes screenshot is stars.
Stake breakdown screenshots will only be stars.
Graph screenshots will include stars + other site.

thank fk for that. thought was gg after losing another 1.3k$. feels good to get it out of the way so quick into the month. Huge relief. Hopefully have a strong month now. Weird thing is that i probably played worse during the period where i rostucko'd than i did where i was losing.

now to fix my sleeping pattern which has somehow become 11am - 6pm. Although these playing hours feels weirdly good. Not huge amount of tables but not a bunch of pio regs raising 20% everywhere.

Starting to feel like the more i PIO, the more im confusing myself. Which i guess shows how ineffective my pio studying is. Maybe i should go get coaching of someone. Dont really talk to anyone in poker world anymore aswell which sucks so im sure im ****ing things up somewhere / you lose a bit of guidance.

Since last update: this month ruining my winrate Looking at my all in preflop since i started even when people fold, im actually crushed lol. Which is stupid run bad. Like 3k under there.

Probably should not bother to have a bluff range in these spots. Dont think people have enough of other things even if choosing correct sizing to justify it.

56ss is spew pre is fold, F + T are fine. river is whatever, not exactly winning at showdown and can get some parts of his range to fold. If you meant the other 56 where i jammed on T7475 Its a jam at a mix frequency if you dont float all J9 on the turn, which i never knew it did.

1010 vs q7 its not a fold with Td. likely fold vs population but like i said, i aint for making exploitfolds. its a nothing hand. Sizing and tripple is obv fine given range adv and blocking all his nut combos

66 doesnt look great after he calls your turn bet 6c is a bet T+R more than this but the ev difference isnt that much. Got to bluff something and 66 is a better bluff than TT/JJ/9T for obv reasons

89hh wtf is that one dude? I know you ran into a boat but ace high calling you fairly often there 1. You just said ace high is calling a decent amount so why wouldnt you want a jamming range? 2. when u vbetin straights/boats only otr with plenty of bluff candidates its going to want to jam. River a mix between check and jamming

99 cold call from small blind is -ev esp 100bb debatable that its -ev with a 80vpip whale going to call

oh wow lol you did it twice -) debatable that its -ev with a 80vpip whale going to call

kq flop call is fine turn call seems bad People definitely underestimate how much gutshots + an over float. Definitely isnt folding 100% frequency ott

the 76 shove in 4bet pot on flop seems bad . Id rather call than shove. What does shoving do for you? bl00f if they bet 99-JJ. i have a lot of Qx + eq denial. its a Mix jam. Getting AJ/AT/AK to do something instead of seeing free river card or pushing me of my equity ott+otr is ok. + got backdoor str8 and flush and some pair outs if called

Not being results oriented here as I see you lost a lot of these hands and I gove ou credit for posting them but don;t post the results and I prob would not agree with how you played these hands.
