Hi

First time I've ever posted on here before but long time reader, and feel that in order to motivate me to take the game more seriously and seriously chase profit then having a thread here will help, not necessarily just as a way of focusing but also potentially learning from any other contributions.

I have played in the same local £1/2 game for maybe a couple of years but only very irregularly. I am definitely a winning player in the game over that time, although to the tune of how much I am not sure. Anyway, basically I have just moved to within a couple of minutes drive of the casino so it has given me the opportunity to play much more than I have been able to previously.

I therefore intend to play at least 3/4 nights per week (sometimes more) after work and hopefully crush it and massively increase my yearly income (and help me pay for my new apartment!).

It's a £1/2 with a £400 max buyin. I would usually buy for the max but because of bankroll issues (I have about £2.5k, which I am well aware is exceedingly low for this game but I am just hoping i can not get too unlucky early on - more on that in a second - and build it up to a more reasonable level asap) I will only be buying in for £300, and if that bullet goes I intend to quit for the night (at least initially whilst BR is still small) in order to minimize opportunities of hemorrhage/tilt etc.

The games are generally pretty soft, a few pros play and crush but the overwhelming majority of pretty fishy, normal casino types i.e. taxi drivers, old blokes blowing off their pensions, standard losers/degens etc. Few other decent non-pro players also play but as a general rule the demographic is an inherently favourable one. Certainly very beatable games.

Anyway, played my firsts session since i moved in last night, went pretty horribly. Had a stack of around £350 about an hour or so in when i get Ah3h on the button. Unusually there are 7 limps all the way round to me. I consider raising but in the end just elect to call. Bloke in the SB is a known crazy player who raises every hand pumps it up to £20. Big blind (decent, unremarkable reg) calls, UTG (unknown, not done anything to show me he is a good player) calls, folds around to me and I make a (potentially questionable?) call. They all have me covered. Flop comes Jc3s3c, which is obviously gin for me.

Crazy SB cbets £75 into like £90ish, I'm not at all worries about him, he's just giving his money away. BB passes (assuming AQ, AK, KQ type hands), UTG thinks for quite a while and seems to have a genuine decision before just calling. No idea what he has really but I'm basically putting him on a medium/strong jack here. Obviously with my £330ish and with what's in the pot I rip it in, and the SB snap re-ships. UTG thinks for a good couple of minutes before eventually committing the rest of his stack. Turn Qs, river red 4, and UTG turns over QQ for a turned full house to crush me.

Certainly don't want this thread to turn into a bad beat story thread, so hoping that that this doesn't happen again any time soon!

Does anybody have any thoughts on the hand? Should I be calling pre with 175bb there? Personally I think it's fine given i have position against 3 perceived weaker players but interested to hear people's thoughts. Should UTG be folding on flop with the action going as it did? I doubt i'm folding there if i am him, but given that I am generally a pretty tight player and the SB is a known nutcase, is he ever in good shape i.e. I'm not getting it in light, and SB plays any two and is more than capable of having a 3, especially given how eager he seemed to get it in. Again thoughts welcome.

Are there also any thoughts on my overall strategy? Should I be buying in for the max? Should I be willing to rebuy? Should I even be playing in these games with such a fragile bankroll? Feel free to be as brutal and frank as you like btw, all criticisms will be taken on board.

That's that anyway. I doubt i'll be playing tonight as have to look after my nephew, and tomorrow I am meant to be out drinking so probably won't be playing this week until Friday/Saturday. Hopefully next time I win some money.

Last session -£300
Total Bankroll £2500

Thanks for reading.
