Subbed and never more have I wanted someone to achieve their goals on this forum than in this thread. So many haters and **** boys.

If you do, you'll be 2p2's greatest grinder.

Awice, i don't think anyone can do this without sending themselves insane. having zero balance in your life is ridiculously unhealthy, not only physically but also mentally, what good is 1million $ if your completely fked up by the end of it?

having some type of balance in your life is important (i have no clue if this is even possible whilst trying to achieve your goal) but socialising/travelling/keeping active; walking/running/working out are things people should be doing on a day to day basis.

if you don't already do any of the above things which give you a well balanced life then i'd suggest taking some time away from poker and fixing your problems.

No I am not really leveling. Yeah I have one person from that group that I talk to somewhat regularly but mostly about work, I would consider him my friend though. So it's not exactly 0. But pretty close.

First I didn't represent cash players or anyone. Second what points in the thread led you to that conclusion?

Not terribly worried - I have basically never gotten sick in years, I think due to eating a lot of things like raw garlic, raw chili, lemon, etc. especially when/if feeling like a sickness may be coming on. Also my office is a pretty solid environment with different air and stuff. Instead of doors there are vinyl strips to keep in light but it keeps the better air and the heat in, and a giant window the size of a wall.

If you play a lot of hypers, definitely stacking is the best of the three options, there is no way you can tile or cascade that many.
I have all my tables on one monitor, and I have a second monitor with all my other stuff (such as lobbies)

Well, just don't have any bookmarks or history to various webpages you don't want to go to, and then don't type it manually in the address bar. Also try to structure your internet time. I've been pretty lax about this since the blog though, I hope I don't get jarred in January by not being able to take breaks by dicking around (I absolutely need to take breaks away from any screens - I learned this during a test run. So I've been trying to ease into this.)

I'm kinda reading it like you're not particularly "money-driven" but you just wanna lock yourself away for a year, make $1m and then gtfo and do something that you consider more fulfilling?

You're giving up a LOT for this challenge, practically no social life, moving back to your parents, I guess I just can't see what's REALLY driven you to attempt this, maybe you've said it and i've missed it, or you've kept some parts of the real reasons private (either would be reasonable)

Basically. I am hoping in January and maybe in some other months to "bank" enough off days that I can take days off, or atleast half days off (eg. go out at night) fairly often. I think most people that read this are assuming that I will be playing nonstop, but that is only really true in January. Overall to get 8x pace is actually "easy" in some sense. I think if my life truly depended on it, I could even 12x SNE (not counting other random factors like luck).

8x SNE is probably going to be way less than 12h a day (maybe less than 10, depends how fast I go... could even be around 8 or 9..) So I think people assume that 8x SNE is insane, but in terms of time it actually isn't. January might be pretty insane though. Most of why 8x SNE is hard actually has nothing to do with time. Plenty of people grind low stakes really hard -- just look at those people that SNE playing 0.50/1.00 NLH. The reason 8x SNE is somewhat hard has everything to do with the stakes, the anxiety/pressure, etc. I mean tabling ability still does matter though obviously, it takes skill to be able to play enough tables well that you can get 2.7k vpp an hour or whatever that you need, and much more skill to sustain that for 8 hours solid, even if it is "only 8 hours."

In January I am really going to try to push it since I have a lot of mental energy in that month, so that I give myself best chances at first SNE and also bank a lot of off days. As soon as I 1x SNE I am definitely going to celebrate outside.

As for why I am doing this, honestly I don't totally know. I think a lot of factors culminated. I don't know if you read my blog but I did discuss how a lot of people said I had very high potential but then I'd just sit and eat potato chips and play ****ty games all day like everyone else. I recommend you read said blog if you want to know more about why.

As for why I chose to do this instead of lead a more balanced lifestyle, the truth is my lifestyle is ****ty compared to what I want it to be. I want to move downtown asap and have a better lifestyle and I feel like I have a lot of free time now due to the fact that I have to get fit, get money, etc. anyways. But to move downtown, I would prefer to have more money so that I am not living beyond my means. For other people 100ish k is plenty of money but for me it really isn't, especially when I am trying to grow my poker bankroll quickly. Maybe rent 25k, lifestyle > 30k [VERY easily, ideally I should be going out every day], food 10k, personal assistant / maid / chef $xk, clothes $xk, furniture, utilities, whatever and the money runs out quickly. That's even with no car. Maybe the costs are slightly wrong but the general idea is the same. I don't want to feel like I am broke if I start living like that.

Also, I've often regretted not playing poker harder back when it was easy, so maybe eg. I'll regret not making another 500k in X years when I spend through the first 500k (not very hard to do.) Overall I give myself a 3/10 or less for effort in the previous years, and even if I say 3x SNE'd next year I would give myself like a 7 out of 10. For me and what I know I am capable of, only 6x+ would be satisfactory for me. If I can't even play eg. 2000 hours of poker next year that's pretty pathetic (by my own evaluation.) For other people maybe they feel comfortable knowing that 3x SNE is a record or whatever, but I know I can do way better. Money wouldn't motivate me, but if my life depended on it, like I said I think 12x+ is actually possible (which I will hopefully prove in January.)

Finally, SNE is the first thing I ever actually did. If there was no SNE I probably would have played 1/10th as much this year. This type of goal is compelling me to make a lot of adjustments in my life for the better. Now one has a purpose (to study, to exercise, to do whatever). Additionally, you stop wasting time. I can't afford to derp around, and thats probably a good thing overall.

Fat chance.. there are few HS hypers regs [in the world], and even fewer that can play a lot of tables. Then, I live in a remote area of Toronto. No one is going to come to my parents house to grind el oh el.

I prefer not to, plus I feel you are hustling a bit basically, since you clearly have more info than I do (Eg. you know mouldy or whoever else will win so you want to bet.)

Like I said if someone wants to beat me to first SNE, its clearly possible. I don't play the games that pay the highest rake per hour.

Amazing if you do it Alex and I hope you do. I think if anyone can you have the right level of focus too. I find it helpful to get outside every few hours just to stretch and get some air flowing through your lungs. It really helps clear the mind even if its just five mins gl.

Re: #MillionClub - It ain't cheese if it's less than a mil'

gl man, admire your focus and determination in pushing so hard for a year. I find it funny how a lot of people say how bad it is to not live a balanced life for a year, trying to find your motives and say how bad of an idea it is when the majority probably work 40 hours a week doing something they don't really enjoy with a mediocre social life and then think they're somehow in a position to judge how you choose to spend your time.

Personally I think if you set a goal and have a vision for something, especially if that involves pushing yourself now with a good chance of being highly rewarded later then absolutely do it. Respect and gl, will be following this for sure

This is sick, I was going to ask the food question also.

What do you think a typical day will be like? In terms of, wake up at 9am, play till x, eat, play till x, sleep at x pm etc etc

I do too, if I lose say 70k right off the bat (and there are some chances) I would aim much lower. So its not totally a lock. It depends a lot on how well I play so there is some pressure. So I am really hoping I run good.

I have flex goals, in general I plan to wake up from 830 to 1030, play no later than noon, sleep 1230ish and no later than 2 and don't look at a screen before bed. eat a few small meals a day. The flex goals are good where each thing in my day is "x to y and no later than y" so its easy to get back on the horse.

Regarding when in the day I break from playing, I'll decide in February. In January i don't expect to take breaks except when convenient. Basically bathroom breaks or some break to stretch or so but fairly short breaks. My computer only has the 32gb ram it was installed with, I thought this would be enough but PT4 has some weird bug where it keeps everything in memory, so once in a while [after about 500 tourneys] very predictably my ram maxes and PT4 gives a memory error, due to poor programming of PT4 (either in when it processes tourney summaries, or maybe that it doesn't garbage collect until you stop getting hands.) When it happens I have to restart PT4. When I do, that might be a convenient time to take a break.

Tbh, a 15 min break and a 2 hour break is basically the same for me. It's all one long session to me.

Yes, I am aware you are of the opinion you were not representing the cash game players. Logically, we can conclude, your sole intent was to have your own - heavily flawed - solutions to some apparent problems in today's online cash game environment - which you are completely clueless about - presented. In other words: You were attention-whoring. Which is basically what this whole thread is about.
Of course I can only speculate why no one likes you. Maybe you don't want to be liked, maybe you're impossible to be liked, maybe it's a combination of both. You do come off like a socially inept, egotistical douche though, let me tell you that much.

Calling someone an attention whore in PGC is like calling someone a pervert in a strip club.

Which is what I was elected for. I don't see any problem. If PS staff wanted other people's solutions they would have already read them. (Which they read every day.)
