Yup, playing almost all my volume on Bros, have tried a wee bit of zoom but i really don't find it enjoyable at all. Luckily haven't had a sustained bad run of cards since the start of the challenge but it's definitely bubbling. I played a lot of volume at the NL tables on Bros and while the games are soft, there is a ridiculous amount of bots at the tables these days. Almost every table I opened would have at least one bot sitting. Luckily they are pretty unsophisticated and exploitable by just playing balanced but just doesn't sit right with me playing against someone who is taking players' money through cheating. Hence the move to PLO.

Yea I’m sure. Just variance. Games are really good, although they play so different to stars equivalent levels. Can’t remember if you’ve said before, you playing professionally?

I'm not good enough at PLO to recognise the bots yet but I'm sure there must be some. But tbh if I were a bot programmer I think it would make more sense to stick to NL as there's less variance to contend with?

Yeah they really do play differently. I do enjoy the process of exploiting different player types with different lines even if I've not worked it out in PLO yet. Playing full time since leaving university in 2017

Sick session today playing PLO200 and 6 CARD PLO200 and PLO400 in a friend's club. No clue about 6 card strategy but doesn't matter if you sun run! It frightens me to think how much rake people who grind 6 card full time pay

Anyway, you mentioned something about bots. Aren't you afraid of bots at PLO? Or it's not as solved as NLHE is? And what about collusion? And how good is rakeback btw? And how to find a reliable agent?

I have heard of there being PLO bots but I haven't come across any in my games as far as I know. I think PLO bots would take up way more CPU so probably deters people from using them over NL bots. They might also be deterred by the variance in PLO - if a bot is going to have an edge in whatever format is plays then it makes sense to go for the format with the least variance. I get 30% RB. In terms of finding agent I found one through a friend. I have heard of people finding agents on 2+2 or Microstakes Poker Group on Facebook.

Weekly Update - Almost hit 10K!

Feel like our game is improving pretty quickly since the new year - lots of studying, lots of table selecting and lots of run good leaves us at just under 10K profit since beginning the challenge.

Sun run doesn't seem to have slowed down since the beginning but happy to now be turning over a decent EV winrate.

Mixing in some more PLO200 games when the tables look good and will hopefully make that my new limit if beating after the next 40k hands.

WEEKLY UPDATE!

Running $4k above EV this week which is always nice. And about 2k of the 6k profit was made sunrunning 6 card with some friends so in EV terms I guess you could say I'm about even this week .

I've purchased RIO's 'From the Ground Up' PLO course which seems like really good value from what I've saw of it so far. The tutor (I can't remember his name) seems knowledgeable and explains concepts well. He also balances a good mix of theory and possible pool exploits which I always thought was lacking in NL courses I've purchased in the past.

In a good study/grind routine right now. I'm sticking to 2 hours study before a 5 (4.5 with a break) hour session and feel like it is paying off as I am finding myself in less spots where I have no idea what I'm doing.

Getting back in the NL streets today as have been invited to a juicy £3/£6 game with some local fun players. Back to the PLO grind tomorrow.

Weekly Update - Swingy week!

A terrible start to the week and a nice end to the week puts us $233 in the green.

Games have been really good and mixing in much more 200PLO than in previous weeks - I think as long as I am game selecting well there isn't too big a difference in competency of opponents between 100 and 200. Therefor it makes sense to start transitioning up just now while I have some momentum.

Study has been going well and I think after a few more weeks of using Vision I'll bite the bullet and purchase Monker. Just need to make sure my shitey wee laptop can handle the Monker juice. It will definitely be nice to run some river spots - Vision doesn't allow this and so river is the most difficult part of the game tree for me too elbow grease my way through at the moment.

Corona-wise Glasgow is still in a strict lockdown along with the rest of the UK, so any dreams of Vegas and The Mirage or Cambodia and the degen games are on hold for the minute. Got out fishing for the first time this year at the weekend which was a nice wee break from the grind. Managed to net a 2lb Rainbow and he's currently sitting in my fridge waiting to be fried.

Going to continue with the regular 2 hour study followed by 5 hours playing schedule this week as it feels like a good balance for my lifestyle.
