Dear all,

Starting personal thread on my fishing journey in the micros. Recreational player, probably post an update every 10k which is a huge milestone for a rotating shift worker with a new born baby.

Here is where I stand right now, continuing my journey in 5NL. Goal is to make it to 10 NL by mid year with BR of 750 and 20NL by this time next year. Modest man I am.

Just realized that after RB, I should be up by $180. However a quick glance at my cashier balance shows only $110 (inclusive of initial buy in of $50).

I play quite a bit on my mobile but always thought I was break even or slightly losing. Apparently, I managed to donk away $120 on my cellphone without even noticing. Oh well considering the long journey to and fro work, $120 seems fair enough for 5 months of entertainment travelling by bus ........

New years eve hand - If I ever find myself doing such things again, I'll ship the same amt to the broke brothers in Cambodia, at least they'll put it to better use......

Been only 8k+ hands since last posting, crazy suckouts at $5 6max zoom. Had a fight with the missus and going to be on a monkey tilt this night shift on every game I can play on my cell phone.

Some friendly tips for fellow microstakers:

    1. Confucius once said " When life gives you lemon, make life take back the lemon", see the following pointers on how to apply that.

    2. Proceed to play PLO8 (like myself) or some other games you have no clue of.

    3. If #2 doesn't work out, go back to what you are comfortable with but up your stakes (like myself)

    4. Run really good for a while and depending on how it goes

4a. Congrats, you made life take back the lemon!

4b. Run really really well and go busto on roulette after you hit your first $100k. (bright side, you get a +1 in degen stories thread)

Looks like you had a couple $12 or $13 wins there. Did you move up to NL10? Wonder if you changed your style near the end of the first graph. Red line turned around.

I have a similar challenge thread on here. I started out with a $2 bankroll. Playing NL5 now.

Good work Fishology. Let's keep seeing that orange line go up.

I have no explanation for that TBH. Maybe the first steep downswing shook me up and I slipped back to a more passive/weak play Post-flop?

The only thing that happened towards the end was re-reading crushing the microstakes, which was the book that got me back to playing poker after being crushed back in 2008.

Thanks for your encouragement, the move to 10NL was more of a jokey attempt to degen my small BR away due to tilt. But the NIT in me seems to not allow any degen at all, even for micro bankroll.

Thought button was on a flush draw raising for free card. Got pot committed and made a crying call (like I've been doing past 2k hands).

Pokerstars is rigged, made my day.

Going to be playing NL10 until my target, or fall back to NL2 if my bankroll dips till $50. Its only at $100 currently....

I've just moved from FR to 6max and I changed my playing style quite a lot. I think with being in the blinds more often you have to loosen up a lot. GL with the challenge

I get the point now. Recent days have been playing some $1.50 and $3.50 STTs, and have been finishing in more 1st than 2nds then before. No stats to back it up as I have been playing on my cellphone much more, due to ****ty rotating shift schedule.

Bankroll at $194 right now (cashed in $25 Silverstar bonus), pray for continuous run good at STTs.

Have to discontinue this for a while. Pokerstars gave us a deadline for playing til 2nd Feb after which we will no longer be accepted for cash play. Currently tied between shifting to red kings or black chip. Make small deposits in both and giving them both a try...... Sad day for me.

Went up to 25NL Zoom to try clear the last 100+fpp in a day so that I can get my $40 bonus. Overall was a losing session by $30. If I break even for the next 40 fpp, it will be worth it (net gain $10). It could have been much worst, luckily this happened.

So after a night of fiasco, a summary of the roller coaster ride:

Started off with around $150 bankroll, donked about and lost a few BI at NL10 zoom. Upped the ante played NL25 2 tabling zoom. Got raped. Lowest bankroll dipped to $40. Single tabled NL25 and hit the miracle quads vs baby flush (Straight flush draw on turn), BR back up to around $90. Dropped to NL10 again and went on a heater. BR up to $134 before receiving the congratulatory mail from Stars, BR at $174.

What a ride, totally worth it

Beat: Jeapardized my final cash out after playing way above my BR. Lost more than a $100 trying to clear a $40 dollars bonus.

Brag: Cleared 164 fpp in a couple of hours of microstakes play. Climbed myself from the pits and turned a slight profit after unlocking bonus. Sucked more money from AMAYA and distributed it around the player pool. SUCK IT AMAYA!!!!
