Thanks man!

Day 4 today, Played a crazy swingy session last night @ phillips station in Winnipeg I was up as much as $700 but ended up breaking even. There was one massive fish that must have lost 1200+ on the table with everyone cashing in off of him except for me. I mus have lost about 800$ to him and it wasn't from doing anything wrong.

2nd last hand of the night I get it in vs him and the other massive fish on he table in a 650$ pot. On the flop Q 10 9 flop my
KQ < J7 & J5 when the turn is a K, was kind of a frustrating sessions as i played pretty well just ran bad vs this fish, could have easily been a +1400$ session. Tis the game.

Off to Regina today Saskatoon on Thursday then Arrive in Edmonton Friday still.

Day 5, The 1/2 game in Regina has got to be one of the craziest games i've played in. Everyone buys in for 200BB's and 3bet and squeezes are fairly common. The game is super loose and you just gotta wait for your spots.

At one point i was up about 3 BI's but in my last hour there i lost 2 of them misplaying one hand and being a POW on a big river bet with TPTK which was a really big mistake on my part. My game is definately getting so much stronger on this trip being exposed to all sorts of playing styles and having to always adapt my own game.

So far I can't complain, i've broken even after hotels (two nights), food and gas, only
8 hours until Edmonton, will be stopping to play in Saskatoon tonight before getting to Edmonton tomorrow.

Been a fun trip so far and will be spending the weekend in the mountains in Alberta so really getting a lot of my poker grind in now.

Day 6, Last day of driving before I get to Edmonton. I am likely going to take a few days off when I get there and spend time with my friend. She wants to check out the mountains this weekend and probably just a lot of rest might play Sunday or Monday

Had my best session of the trip yesterday and was up 4 BI's. I'm kind of in a rush to get to checkout so i don't have much time to talk about hands. Going forward my updates will include more hands that i've played when playing live. I'd say that I played pretty well yesterday and the big pot happened when my AQ>KK when i turned the nut flush and they check raised me AI for a 400BB pot.

Well its been a crazy last week since arriving in Edmonton, haven't had very much time for poker. I am currently living in my apartment with an old high school friend and I have to say its tight quarters, luckily she works a lot so I still manage to have my alone time which is important to me.

Just beginning to settle into a routine, spent the long weekend Camping in the Jasper Mountains and I have to say it was one of the most beautiful sights that I have ever seen. It was pretty cold though!

Tuesday was my first day working on my 3 month contract, the team here is much smaller than back home and they work a lot harder it seems. I have trouble focusing while there as everything is flying at me. Just going to suck it up for some extra cash to help build my BR as i settle into the games. Tuesday was the only day since arriving in Edmonton which I played some poker. I played in a 60$ MTT and finished 15/49 which wasn't good enough to make the money. I'm not sure what the juice is on the tourney, everyone i asked didn't seem to know and i heard ranging answers from 10% to 30%. I don't think I will play the tourney again until it is more clear about the prize pool. Play cash after and won a BI so overall a winning day.

I plan on putting in a coupe big sessions over the weekend, and for once I am a little bit anxious heading into it tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous about losing, I know this sounds weird but I've been playing so well lately and things for the most part have been going my way that I feel the inevitable doom switch will come. I'm trying to not let the doubt creep in, I'm going to workout, eat well and get a good sleep before going in and putting a big session tomrrow. I think i need to be ready to cut the session short if I let the doubt creep into my play. I think the lack of online play the past few weeks has really slowed down my confidence as I haven't put as many hands in as I usually do.

On a poker un-related note, I signed up to help a local human society with some volunteer work, and will be attending some yoga classes as well! Also looking for a place to live for the month of October in Edmonton before I continue on to BC for November and on.

Also been contemplating looking for staking online for NL100+ but need to put in more volume at NL50 first.

It's been a super busy couple of days, in my poker world. Last week I put up a post seeking a stake for NL100 and I was able to find a backer. The deal isn't quite for NL100 but it looks like I'll be able to get there rather quickly should I meet performance expectations.

I also put in about 40 hours last week in Live, I had a very rough go of it on Friday and lost 700$. The very last hand of my session I was Dealt KK UTG in a straddled pot and raised it to 20$. I got 5 callers and the flop came 10 3 3. The Straddle (effective $500)led out for 60$ in which I smooth called and then the BTN called as well. The turn was a 7. The straddle led out for 120$, at this point i realize I'm either far ahead or far behind. I elect to just call so that I can price the BTN in to call as well but he folds.
The unfortunate part here is that the river is another 10. The Straddle then shoves. This sucked as this pot would have brought me to even on the day, straddle tables A10o

The next two days were spent just trying to get my weekend back in the black. Saturday I played for about 12 hrs and ran up +$500 and then Sunday I played for 4 Hours and ran up +$400. Overall a plus weekend!

Waiting for my w/d to process before I can start my stake which is 50k hands, so might go back tonight and play some live.

Yesterday was the first time I felt like I was going to be sick on the tables. I took a bad beat bigger than I've ever taken before lucky for me I left right afterwards.

I only had 2 hours to play between work and going to check out some apartments, so I thought i'd jump into the local 1/2 game and play a few hands. After busting my first buyin AK < A4, i had just doubled up when I hit a straight and got paid.

The very next hands goes like this
4 limps, and I'm in the SB with AJo and make it 12$.

first two limps call but then the CO makes it 35$, BTN calls I call and the other two call. 5 Way to the flop.

Flop comes A J 8 rainbow and it checks around to the BTN who makes it 42$. At this point I know my table image is LAG and the hand before in a similar situation I had semibluffed my hand on the flop and turned the straight. I want to look like I'm squeezing again and make it $135 Btn tanks for like 10 seconds and calls.

Its worth noting that the BTN is on his 3rd buyin and he had bought in deep each time for $500 within the last hour. Regular PLO player but obviously on TILT.

Turn is a 10d which brings a second diamond. I think for not even 5 seconds and shove my remaining 280$~

At this point the BTN sighs and says 'It comes down to whether I want to gamble or not' deep down i'm like please just fold I would be happy avoiding variance in this spot as its my biggest pot ever played. He eventually calls and the sweat begins.

River is a Qs and I say out loud 'well ****' - BTN announces 'straight' and shows J9o and i just get a sick feeling.

'You're so sick' I say and just get up and leave.

After having some time to reflect I know this is a great spot, getting a call here is so profitable it just sucks that I seem to run so bad in these big pots. Its not like I even lost as much as I have on a given day it was only a $500 downswing but for some reason it stung more.

Playing some online this morning to work on my game and put some hands towards my stake and had a +3 BI session. I know i'm playing some of the best poker of my life right now and that the money will come I just got to stay disciplined and smart. This will not be the last time I take a bad beat like this and I'm sure as hell it won't be the biggest.

Off to the casino for my Friday session

Rebounded these past two days since that awful pot. +450 on Friday and then yesterday I had the best session of my life so far. +1800$ in 10 hrs of play. I was making a lot of hands and people were just shipping to me, flopped set won a big pot, turned straight won me a big pot, and I had AA and a guy called my 5 bet for 400$ not even sure what he had as the flop came K J x and I still won.

Don't think i'll be playing too much today going to rest, might put in some hands towards my stake.

It has been a little bit since my last update but I've been fairly busy!

Right now I'm writing this from the mountains in Banff, My sister arrived on Friday and we spent all of yesterday driving through the mountains and seeing lots of sites and taking pictures. I will post some when I get home.

Friday/Saturday I played some live poker for a total of 13 hours and pulled in +$1400, Saturday I was at a super fishy game with one mega whale to might right, so I abused him.

My online poker hasn't been going the greatest, since I started my stake I've only played about 4k hands but have been winning at a rate of 8.5bb/100. Personally I'm disappointed with how thats been going, I find my self paying off way to much on the river and I should really have a much higher win rate at my game. Really going to put in some hands when I get back, if I can keep this win rate up by the time I hit 10k hands I will get to move up. Hoping to be at NL100 around the 30k hand point but only time will tell!

Going to be hiking a lot today and then leaving to go to Calgary tomorrow and the next day. Will be playing some live games while in Calgary so excited to check out that scene!

I need to start writing in this more especially because I have things going on with poke almost on the daily.

Just a quick summary of whats been going on
Friday 13 hr session +270 was in for 1100 cashed out 1400 long grind but good game
sat 4 hr session +470
sunday 3 hrs online - $80
monday 3 hrs live -$300

overall i think my game has been getting way better, I find online and live can be massively different and I need to adjust accordingly.

Deepstacks is in town for 10 days, I'm going to be playing event 4 today $300+30 my first live MTT like this but I really want to get some experience and this is the best structure other then the main but that buyin is 1350.

Jays are in the playoffs, I made a promise to myself if they make the postseason I will buy a ticket home and go to a game, (game 6 pref).

I am going to make a better effort to post in here daily with some hand histories

Haven't really been posting in here and I'm not sure why I guess nothing very exciting to talk about but now I realize its been 6 days and that might not be good for my mental game.

Tuesday: Played the deep stacks tourney, didn't really get any chips and maintained avg chip stack for the first 6 levels. Then a new aggressive player came to the table and was immediately to my right he got me for three good pots which kind of crippled me to 15 BB.

Notable hand vs him, it's folded to him in the SB and he limps. I look down at 99 and raise to 1800 he quickly makes it 4200, this is effectively 20% of my stack. Flop A 10 x he checks and i check. turn puts out a 7 and he bets 2750. I called here but i think this was a huge mistake. He then jams river and i have to fold. I really could tell how unfamiliar with tourney waters I am as that was not the only hand that I know I played -EV. It is a part of my game that I am very interested in developing but not until I can crush cash a little higher up.

Weds, i played 980 hands online for -1BI session, i think this day I was talking with my coaches about how I was struggling to get back into the online grove, so many more hands etc. I tried downing the tables to 3 and got better success.

Thurs, I played 7 hours +970$

Fri, +2.5 BI's online in 973 hands, took it easy this day played some rocket league, meditation and rest.

Saturday: I went back to the casino this day as it was day 1b) of the main event at Yellowhead. Looking to play some cash games, When i got there I was offered a 2/5 game and took it until a spot opened at 1/2. Game was pretty soft and i made about 750$ before my spot at 1/2 opened. I then when there and it was even softer, lots of bad regs and fish. Total 1400$ 8 hours

Sunday: Since I had an early night the night before i decided to go home and get a good sleep and go back in the morning and catch the all nighers, I got there at around 10am and there was a list but a 2/5PLO game was going 4 handed so I watched that for a bit . I had been reading up on some PLO and from talking to the guys I knew that if I sat short and hit and ran it would be fine. After watching for about 20 mins I decide to sit with 250$.

First hand in the BB i super posted, the guy I was standing near in seat 10 also chip leader and had been there since Friday opens OTB but he hadn't realised I had joined the game and was just on auto pilot. I look down at AAsKs x I make it 60$ and then he realises. He says 'I show you my game and now you 3bet me? and calls. I brick flop completely, I take some time to act as I'm still a complete fish in the game, and check. He bets and I then again think about it and fold. To me I just missed the flop completely, AA was not much good on the board OOP and the suits didn't even show up. He did show two pair so I was behind.

few hands later I'm in the CO and look down at 10d9d8x6x, and raise it to 15$, i get 3 callers.

flop comes 7 5 4 rainbow so i flop the joint,
i bet 45$ and get one caller.

turn is a 9 complete rainbow.
I bet 50$, (missed a bet here i think i could have bet more)'

river pairs the board a 4 and it goes check / check he shows 2 pair. higher than the paired 4.

My PLO inexperience definitely came out in that hand, but the other day while at work I was playing with this PLO hand app where you would guess which % of starting hand it was in and then it would generate a totally different one. I think that gave me a good idea of what hands were good to start with in PLO.

I played about 8 hands before I dipped from the game up a slight winner but probably should of been up more. Went to a good NL game and ran up a stack to about 700$. I was playing solid but it just fell apart yesterday, I don't know if I was just being impatient and raising to many weak hands like 24s or 57s but to me they felt right in position going multiway. I would say though I only played my c game, i eventuall ran down my stack and added on another 300$ before busting out over 7 hours ate way to much food came home and past out.

Up early today with the goal of playing 3,000 online hands. Going to take a couple breaks throughout the day, to eat and to meditate as well as hopefully finally drag my ass to the gym... the thought of going back to the gym is scary.

I suck at updating... just been so focus on my game.

Played a lot of online this week so far that 3k goal day turned out to only be 1.9k hands but lots of hours studying and playing which got results I wanted.

After that day I had a talk with my backers and agreed on a NL50 shot for 4 BI's and this is my graph so far, been pretty good shot and as you can see running far below EV

Played on session at the Casino this week. 6 Hours -20$ blew all my profit on one terrible call with bottom 2p

Going to put in more online hands, I'm really motivated to crush NL50 and move up. At least another 1.5k hands played today. Will post my biggest 3 losing pots and winning pots regardless of play today.

I've taken a few days off from online. After my failed NL50 attempt and running 6 BI's below EV I was forced to drop back down as I was only allowed a 4 BI shot. When I dropped back down I began to play my C game. I think a lot of this has to do with entitlement tilt.

I read about this in Benny's thread and how I feel like I should be getting better results because I 'Know' that I am better than the other players. I make stupid plays assuming it should work because I'm the better player. Not because I have the goods, not being patient and just playing reckless.

Need to start posting again and keeping myself accountable if I'm ever going to make it.

I quit my contract a week early as I found it interfering to much with other things, I want to start eating healthy, going back to the gym and meditating more frequently.

Played two live sessions this week a total of 9 hours and +2 BI's so very good results.

Will be playing online more this weekend and probably play a Live session tomorrow morning.

Damn time sure does fly so much going on. I keep complaining about not writing in here and then I continue to do it. Really need to step it up.

October was a weird month, I learned a lot about myself and my game but didn't perform the greatest. I ran 14 BI's below EV online and had a huge downswing if I wasn't in a rush i'd post the graph. I however was +2800$ live so that went okay, again though I ran very much below EV in allin situations.

November I set out with some goals, this is my first month as a full time player and also my first month living in British Columbia. I set a goal of making $5,000 in a combination of both live and online. Although I am still playing NL25 online another one of my goals is to be at NL50 by the end of the month and I think that this is certainly achievable. I owe a lot of my progress to working with my Coaches as well as working with Pokerinabox.

Currently I am +1400$ live after 24 hours and +125 online after about 2000 hands so off to a great start.

Now that I am settled in I have began to get back into health and fitness, eating proper meals and doing physical activity. I started a 30 day yoga program and am currently on day 3. I was suffering from a lot of shoulder tightness that was causing a problem so I am really hoping that this will help.

I also met a girl here in BC and going out with her tonight, she seems sweet and fun so that is something I am really looking forward to. There are a lot of great people around here and I really think I'm going to fit in, in this province!

November Goals:
[ ] Make 5k
[ ] 30 day Yoga Program
[ ] Meditate each day
[ ] Post in here at least every other day
[ ] Read a book start to finish

I have been on a heater the past week online and on a 12-14 BI upswing. It is much needed boost to my confidence online as I will soon be able to start taking shots at NL50 again. Played some live on Saturday and played my C game... had run up a big stack twice before getting knocked down one of which I got into a 1200$ pot as a 95% fav my J10 < KK when he rivered a K to give him a boat over my flopped trip 10s.

I am +328$ online this month and + 1,200 live which brings me to 1500/5000 which isn't bad progress. Will be putting in quite a few hours of live this week in hopes of getting over the 2500 bump . Yoga has been going well along with the meditation. Also started reading the Mental game of poker during my recent downswing and it has really helped to turn my game around.

Some big hands from my session yesterday:

Pre flop this guy tanked and was typing in chat, looks like i need to set mine DEALER GIVE ME A 4! I was a little worried it was true

After the -480 session I took some time away from the tables to study, watched a couple videos that were provided to me by my stable and I think it really helped me the next day. I continue to crush this month online and am 40bb/100 over 4k hands

I'm still trying to adjust to the styles of the casino here as the game is slightly different then the rest i've been playing in. Button straddle is almost always on, I also have adjusted to not only raise/fold style that I have been using to success before.

some hands from my session today online:

The past few days have been pretty solid for me poker wise.

Earlier this week I moved back up to NL50 and had an amazing +6 BI session immediately upon moving up which has been a great boost to the confidence and should allow me to stay up in these stakes. The games are definitely a lot more aggressive with more check raising and more PFR/3betting preflop. Will take some time to adjust but I believe I am doing rather well so far.

Results to date so far this month, the lask 2k hands are at NL50

Played some live the past two days as well

-600 on thursday. This was a day where I let my mental game affect my play for the first time in a while. I was just card dead in the fact I was not hitting any hands, missing flops with broadways, no sets, no flushes, no straights for 7 hrs. I let it get to me after a while and probably spewed off 200$

Yesterday I played better and brought in +530$ in 3 hrs. It was a short session because today I will be playing in the Super Saturday tourney in DT Vancouver. $330 BI in which I have 75% of myself. GLGL

It looks like I'm going to be coming up short of my goal this month of making 5k currently:

1175 @ live after 90 hrs - been a lot of learning and running below EV this month so far
612 @ online after 5k hands - been running red hot here at almost 30bb/100

total 1787 / 5000 - not impossible to make it especially if I do well in todays tourney

Delayed response here as I haven't really been home since the Tourney been staying at that girls house and playing live.

I came in 17/64 in the tourney and got unlucky to bust. Had I won this hand I may have been chip leader of the tourney.

At this point in the tournament blinds are 800/1600 with a 200 ante. I have 28 (42,000) BBs.

MP raise to 3200, Villain 1 who has me covered and has about 45BB's calls. (I have 3 bet him twice and got folds preflop in this same situation) I'm in the SB and am dealt AhKh and reraise it to 9,000. The BB who is new to the table and has about the same stack as me smooth calls. MP folds Villain 1 calls.

                  Flop 9h 8c 3h

I lead out here for 9,000 which i think is a big mistake and should of shoved or checked. BB calls, Villian 1 raises to put us both allin (35,000).

I felt with half my stack in the middle and such good money I had to call, but then again I also believe that folding may be an option? BB show 44, Villain shows 9c7c and it held.

Played some live on the day of the tourney and made enough to cover my buyin. Been playing okay live.

I find sometimes I lose my patience and think there is an easy spot to bluff and people just don't fold at NL200 and I end up wasting money that can just be better spent in far better +EV situations.

Played about 1500 hands of online as well and down 1 BI again making bluffs I don't need to make yet at this level. People are just calling me down way to light and I can just value town everyone.

Typical response of having to post more etc but been so damn busy and kind of sick. Can't seem to shake this cough that I have going on.

I continue to run very much below EV online Im up to around 550$ below EV since starting my stake which is over 30k hands. The worst part (or best part?) is that i'm still beating NL50 for 2bb/100 and nl25 for 6bb/100

I think that I am playing some of the best poker of my life right now. Good hand reading especially in Live this month. I started a stake for my live game as well so I hope to be able to be playing 2/5 by early Jan.

+1200 in about 40hrs of live this month but losing slightly online.

                  Big losing hand from today:

SB was monster whale, and the btn had bad reg stats

Things have been going very well for me other than having this cough for the past few weeks that doesn't seem to want to go away.

I set a new personal best with a +1900 day in 1/2 NL this week and yesterday i topped that with another 1k+ day I am really starting to get the hang of live poker and really crushing.

Also online has been going well as well, My backers have allowed me to start playing NL100 and I did quite well in my initial shot take. However I ran bad HU against this one guy when my AK < 1010 AIPRF and my AA < 88 AI on the flop and he spiked a river 8. I dropped back down to NL50 for a little bit just to get some confidence back however I am still rolled to be playing NL100

some chip porn from my big score

I will be flying back to Ontario to spend some time with my family and friends over the holidays so there will be almost no poker for the rest of the month after this weekend.

Hoping to reach 100 hours of live (9 hours away) which will be quite achievable.

Last day in BC I was able to take a shot at 2/5 and it went disastrously.

I had ran my stack up to around 800$ when I made my first ever hand reading mistake in a live situation.

I was dealt 7c 8c on the BTn and it was raised up to 25$ from the CO, I call and two limpers call.

flop comes Qc 10c 9x and I think that I have flopped the straight with the backdoor to the club flush. One of the limpers lead out for 100 and CO calls, I raise to 250$ thinking I have the straight. The donk better then shoves allin and I call.

As soon as I call I realize I don't have the straight and I made a big error, I brick the next two cards and end up losing 680$ of my stack. Sucks as this was my first shot at 2/5 and I was playing quite solid up until this point.

This was my first time making this error and I definitely know I have learned from it to double check whole cards etc. will have to jump back down to NL200 for a little while before I shot take again, but that will probably be in JAN

                    Bye Bye 2015

I must say that this year has been one for the ages. When the clock switched over to 2015 last year I have to admit there was no thought of poker at all in my mind. I was worried about paying rent, finishing my CIP designation and getting a promotion at work.

I was asleep, working the 9-5 saving for retirement saving for the next months bills never really finding my happiness. After reading a lot about Buddhism, consciousness and just overall motivational things I came to the terms that this is my life and I am not going to waste it sitting at a desk the rest of my life.

I am proud of how far that I have come, I have traveled 3500KM across country to a land that is foreign to me. Lived in 4 different arrangements and have met countless individuals that the old me wouldn't have even spoke to. In the meantime I have found a reality that I love. I now find myself at the point where I do not want to go to sleep because my life is finally better than my dreams.

I have a lot of work ahead of me this year if I am going to make it as a poker player. I have come so far in the past 6 months since starting this thread but that is just going to be a blip on the radar when everything is said and done. The holidays have been nice, I have taken 10 days off of the grind and been spending it with friends and family. I am excited to get back at it. I don't have any of my results right now as they are on my Desktop back in Vancouver but I have managed to move up from NL10 to NL100 in the course of this thread. I have gone from the point of playing NL200 live to taking shots at 2/5 with a 10$ straddle.

I have some very ambitious goals when it comes to poker for 2016 I have no idea how feasible they are but I like to aim high.

[ ] Make 60k across both live and online poker
[ ] Play in 1 WSOP event this year
                    [ ] Bink a Live MTT for over a 5k score
[ ] make it up to NL200 online reg
                    [ ] be a 2/5 reg live

More to come going to really be active this year

Played my first session of 2016 yesterday and what a way to bring in the new year. Won the biggest pot of my life which was close to 1300$ when my AA held AIPF 4 way. Two of the people were around 200BB's and a 50BB stack. Overally booked a +1150 session which is a good start to my goals!

Had an interesting thing happen to me yesterday during my session. I had gotten into a hand with a fish who was right on my right where I called 3 streets of her bets with J8s with a pair of J's and after she said very quietly I should have known that someone with so many chips is just going to call. I jokenly agreed with her and called myself a calling station etc Then a player beside her on the right said he's actually a good player probably top three in the room. I found this to be very strange as I had never played with this guy before and we had only been playing for like an hour.

I chimed in and said how would you know that we've never played before etc. His response was somewhat alarming to what could be a big leak in my game? He said the way I talk and act on the table shows that I really know what I'm doing. ( I had told him a hand history from how I got my big chip stack and I guess I may have used a little more complex terms like squeeze and 3bet etc.)

The thing about living in BC area is that there are plenty of different rooms to play in, I live within 30 mins of about 5 different casinos with another 5 within an hour. I typically play at the same room as it is super close and I like the way that the 1/2 plays but this comment made me think of when I play in new rooms that I should really be careful how I act on the table.

I don't want the better players to be able to pick up that I know what i'm doing as quickly as I guess this guy was able to do. As much as I believe that a strong part of my game is loosening up the table with my table talk and such I need to make sure that this doesn't entail 'Strategy' talk. For the most part I am on a different level then the players at the 1/2 tables and its only going to hurt me by talking strategy.

Tomorrow I am going to play at Edgewater downtown and I have only played here once since moving here. It is a good room with good action, and I am going to keep my table talk to a minimum. I am going to be putting in around a 10 hour session so I am hoping that I will be able to fly under the radar and just play my game.

I just love the game and its fun to talk about it but I need to remember now that this is my Income. I need to look at ALL aspects of my game and to remember what the most +EV thing is to do whenever I am on the tables.
