One word of warning, because I play a lot of underground games (no legal poker in NYC). Usually the player pool in these games is really small, and people will get reads on you. One of the easiest reads to get on someone is that they're scared money. Easy to tell because people who are scared money REALLY want to run it multiple times to reduce variance. If you played at my game and I got a read that you were scared money, I would exploit you hard by semi-bluffing a ton with big all-ins (including overbets) when I think I have good equity and making it clear I would only run it once. There's one reg I play with that I do this all the time, and the only reason I limit it to semi-bluffing rather than bluffing without any equity is that I'm afraid if I do it too often he'll adjust, so I try to not get greedy. So, I'd be careful with letting people know in a home game that you're underrolled and I would generally be very casual with asking to run it multiple times, i.e. let the other guy suggest it or don't push it very hard. Poker's a much harder game when people are semi-bluffing you a lot.
Doesn't come up in the casino much though because usually player pool is bigger, generally play is less aggressive (though less spewy too), stacks are smaller so harder to find good semi-bluff spots and you can't run it multiple times anyway.
Yeah 100%. No one in the game itself knows I'm under rolled and tbh I'm really not since I work full time w ****all expenses. I don't think there are any regs in any of the games I play with who would see my willingness to always run it twice as anything they'll be exploiting but that's a point I'd not yet thought about. I guess you're > all my regs.

+$500 |
6 Hours |
Variance 4/10
Said I was going to wait til my life roll got back up to where it needed to be but figured since tonight was my last opportunity to get some volume in before being back at work I might as well take $1k with me to a homegame.
Played 2/3 NLH for 4.5 hours and got up $500. The game changed to 2/3 rotation for the final 1.5 hours and I basically broke even there.
Happy with increased aggression today. We were playing short handed (4-5 handed most of the night) and I was able to steal a lot in a number of spots. I also did a few larger bluffs i.e. playing less scared money. One triple barrel got called and that was really my only big losing pot.
Here's a hand. Eff like $400-500
Hero UTG 5 handed w QQ, opens to $13, fold, decent enough reg CCs on BTN CO, fold fold.
Flop ~$30: 6
4
2
Hero cbets ~$17ish, call.
Turn ~$64: 6
4
2
9
Hero bets again ~$45, call.
River ~$154: 6
4
2
9
6
Hero checks v checks, hero wins.
(lol looking back at this, seems a super easy vbet)
I'm pretty sure this is a value bet because he prob just calls again w TT, JJ if he has it and maybe 88. I didn't want to give villain the opportunity to turn these hands into a bluff by repping the 6 tho so idk. Pretty sure I can easily bet $85 here for value and prob fold 100% to a raise. As played, planning on xc river depending on his size.
This will be my last opportunity to play for a little bit. Hopefully I can get some volume in next weekend.
