just lost 4bi,ran 3bi under EV for the session, i dont think i won a pot over 10bb... no joke. fun fun

a little tilted this afternoon

So this is my graph for todays worst ever 10 NL session... I was stuck 5bi at one point, managed to start climbing out of the hole, after i really knuckled down and concentrated on picking up dead money, as i was getting smash at show down with either coolers or bad beats... Even though i didn't get right out, was still happy with repairing some of the damage...

Lost another BI today after some fish 3bet shoved 50bb, deep w/ K10s into my KK and of corse he made a flush, next hand i lost a flip w/ AK to a 40bb shortstacking whale against his 66.
Im going to watch a card runners video, take a deep breath and fire up some more tables later... My br. is at $445, if it drops to $400 due to my run bad i might move back to 5NL just to battle variance...
Cant wait for my upswing! Oh, at least im like 27 VPPs from my $10 bonus...

Well josh, from what I've read. I think you should be more than able to beat 10NL. Variance is a part of the game. If you however, feel uncomfortable playing with less than 40BI, move down. For me, it's more or less an issue when moving up.

The bigger problem is losing motivation whilst going through a break even stretch.

Your only one buy in down over 12k hands .. thats pretty much standard ...

The problem arises is if those 12k hands take a good while to reach which means you feel like you have been on a break even stretch for ages ! .. which can really affect your confidence and can start to affect your motivation to push through it.

Just hang in there ... dont focus of stuff you have no control over, ie things like your EV line .. and focus on pushing on and improving.

40 buy ins is enough ...post hands and situations where you feel your not quite sure about ..

Nothing tilts me more than certain situations popping up and im not quite sure whats the best play .. it leads to frustration ..and frustration causes anger and anger causes me to stop playing and get de-motivated.

I also think you can wait a bit with moving down. Even 30BI should be enough at NL10.

And being BE for 12k hands is nothing and it's quite normal esp. if you're running bad. Just play your solid A-game and you'll be fine!

This is a good point... I have just lost like 5bi in the last 48 hours... I will post up a few spots i am unsure about. Im just really frustrated at the moment i think which doesn't help. Im so sure i can beat 10nl pretty easily, but my confidence is low at the moment! Every time i have picked up a big hand preflop at the moment I just get this horrible feeling im about to lose a stack to either a sick cooler or a bad beat. I will admit though, i have spewed/tilted some buy ins out of frustration... When you haven't won a pot over 50bb in about 8 hours that can happen! Going to watch some vids, have one more crack, then i will see what happens. If i can play 1k hands now and win one BI i will see this a s a massive achievement at the moment!

hehehe ... you sound exactly like i used to be ... well i am still like it a bit, but i finally realised the problems i was causing myself and made in roads into sorting them out.

I used to bemoan the fact i just did not hit draws ... i would post in another forum exactly how many draws i had missed, how many times i missed with Ax or how many times i saw an ace flop when i had 99>QQ ..or how few sets i hit with pocket pairs ..

I would spend half an hour going over my HEM database and counting the exact amount .. just so i could prove i was not running well ... as if it really mattered ! .. but sometimes you feel you have to justify why your moaning lol

I would spend so much energy and focus on bad luck situations and eventually it just consumes your thought processes and you think of nothing else.

Like you say ...you have not won a pot over 50bb in 8 hours ...you focus on that more and more the longer it goes on ..and frustrations really kicks in then and you spew and start jamming a draw even though you know you have zero fold equity and your draw misses ... cue mental breakdown and the old *&*^&*^* this stupid !*^^ friggin *&&**^ damn game.... !!

I also know the old trick of watching a ton of videos when your not getting the results you feel you should be getting ... Its like their MUST be something wrong with your game because your not winning ... you end up just watching videos and hardly playing !!

Your game is probably fine ..work on little things that causes you problems and get back on the grind ..

haha, yeah sounds like you know exactly what I'm going through haha. I just have to accept the variance and play through it. I'm not usually one to complain about running bad, because I can't stand other people complaining about it. playing in some tourneys this weekend. got a 100k gtd at crown casino. its a $50 entry, plus 1x $50 add on at the end of level 6, there are 5 flights in 3 days, you can play in as many flights as you wish, but on the day 2 all your chips accumulate... I'm amped, playing flight 1 tonight, then flight 2&3 tomorrow.... as for online I have ben really working on my game. lost 1bi last night aa to kk aip, but I'm feeling good about my game. will update with live tourney updates if I'm doing decent

Just wrapped up a session, am very stoked to report my first decent session for the month, won 2.5bi over 900 hands, felt i played pretty decent. Was nice to run on EV for once too... Hopefully i can hit a nice heater before the end of the month, as i need to hit my volume goal!

Month so far....

Wooooo finally starting to run goooootttt again! I even won a flip, AI pre when my QQ held against AK. Pretty stoked, hopefully i can make a decent month, If i can finish up $150ish i would be stoked. Im back to 6 tabling, and thinking about shot taking some 25NL on friday... weeee. Game is feeling good!

Also ankle has been good enough to start running again so i have been doing that again too, trying to get fit again for summer. Peace yall.

Okay... SO, last couple days were distaterous and really questioned my game. To be honest i went on monster tilt and spwwed like 4 BI. I dont normally tilt, but for some reason i just got over it, maybe becuase i have had such a poor month. Anyway, one point today i was stuck almost 6BI, But I ran through my database and found a few leaks, also went back through around the time my redline was doing pretty decent. My last 2 weeks becuase I had been losing i had been a bit risk averse, and played too pasively.

I went back to putting in some 3 bets In position, finding nice spots to double barrel and squeeze, and didnt get carried away with stupid bluffs. ALso stopped stealing so eavily, i found i was stealing on the button with hands like 74o and getting myself into trouble post flop... Anyway, I was stoked to get almost unstuck, ended up down like 1.5Bi running a 1 BI under EV, if i ran on EV i would have onlyt been down .5bi...


I just have to cncernrate, keep only playing 4 tables and play this game im playing right now regardless, and i know it can beat 10NL... End of Next month, im outta 10NL, and if im not... Someone give me a dare, and ill do it haha... maybe i should punish myself, like run 20ks, or do a 40 hour famine haha... If anyone thinks of someting, im game... either way, i want out!!! (of 10NL)

BR. currently sits around $380 ish.. Still lenty for 10NL. I have been playing so bad lately, i think this time off to study will be great for my game. I think at the moment Im just not giving poeple credit for hands which is costing me a good bunch of money at showdown. I think since the start of the moneth, all the run bad i had has made be try and adjust the wrong way, so I just need to get abk to the fundamentals, as i know i can crush 10NL when im not spazzing out/leveling myself.
Hopefully by next month i can get out of 10NL, if i can win 25bi next month that would be dope, but first thinsg first, study study study.

Well I am back on the grind after my 4 day break.
I watched a heap of card runners vids, read strat articles, looked through my HH, and read Verneers amazing PDF. and i found a heap of little leaks to fix.
Main ones were...
- Table selecting, do it more, i now do it like a mad man. I thought i did it often enough before but now im crazy about it, and it works! If i cant see a noticable mark within 2 or 3 orbits im outta there!
- Have a plan for the whole hand starting preflop, this includes looking at who i am going to be in a pot with, Cbetting carefully(i have already been though this), and having certain cards to barrel on the turn.. very Villain dependent. I also had a leak that i rarely Ch/r the flop as a bluff or for value... Working on spots for this.

I think after i started running so bad last month my last 10k hands i just spewed and was all over the place, putting money in the pot knowing i was behind, firing barrels i knew villain woudnt fold, and was calling off rivers thinking he cant have it again! I guess this is what a bunch of ran bad can do to your confidence.

Anyway, as stated im back.
Here is my graph for the last few sessions... Still running a bit bad, but my game is feeling strong and i actually cant wait to put up another video.
